  • Pilot Vanishing Point Fountain Pens are one of our most commonly asked about fountain pens in store! They are known to be the world's first capless fountain pen and many love the elegant design and novelty of a retractable fountain pen. In this video, I explain the history behind the Capless, give a close up of a Vanishing Point and its special features, take a look at all the different models available of the Pilot Vanishing Point and show how to fill a Vanishing Point with ink using the included CON-40 converter. In a future video, I will be doing a nib and line comparison across the 6 available nib sizes for Pilot VP: EF, F, FM (available in Japan only), M, B, and Stub. Thank you for watching!

    I have loved, used and collected fountain pens for over thirty years. This pen never appealed to me. Part of what I love about using fountain pens is slowing down and truly enjoying the ritual of the writing practice and having to remove and post the cap in a part of it. And then…. And then…I used a vanishing point and instantly fell in love. I bought one about a year ago and it is the pen, out of many gorgeous fine pens, that I reach for most often. It write like a dream and feels soooo comfortable in my hand. Something about the clip position is just perfect for how I hold my pen, too. I feel badly because I barely use my other pens now and have to make myself put them in rotation so they are not neglected 😂 I can’t say enough about the Vanishing Point. Been thinking of a Decimo but none of the colours appeal to me. Hoping for a special edition that I love! In the meantime my VP in Stripes is my go to pen and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

    Lots of great information in this video. You answered a lot of questions that many people didn’t know the answers to, such as why SE which everyone assume was Special Edition. It was quite interesting to know that the retractable pen started with fountain pens and not ballpoints as I always assumed. Well done 👍🏽

    • @Yoseka
      @Yoseka  Год назад +1

      Thanks for watching Lora! Glad our video helped to clear up the why behind "SE" :) One clarification though which is just that I'm not sure the first retractable pen was a fountain pen. The history of ballpoint pens is a whole separate story and my research didn't really cross over too much into ballpoints, but if it did, I wouldn't be surprised if the first recorded retractable ballpoint pen was way before the 1930s!

    I just splurged yesterday as a reward for myself and got my first Pilot Vanishing Point in Matte Black, extra fine nib. I just recently got into fountain pens and just love the experience. I love how smoothly it writes and how fine the actual writing is. I write quite small and this is the only pen I have that really does have an extra fine nib. I have three other extra fine nib pens but the only one that is kind of close to the Pilot Vanishing Point is the Kaweco Sport with an extra fine nib. I am definitely going to be using this pen a lot. I've also been writing a lot more since I transitioned to fountain pens, and that feels really good.

    I got into fountain pens again after long hiatus a few years ago and when I first saw VP's I did not like the look of them one bit...then I bought a matte black VP in the summer and then bought two more in dark blue and the carbonesque blue 😅🤣
    I absolutely love them and they are definitely the three pens that I'd never part with along with my custom 823. The VP's just have such a lovely feel in the hand and what I thought was initially a gimmick with the knock and thought the clip would get in the way of me writing actually enhanced my writing experience!
