    Nice work! Yes, amber shellac is THE proper finish for Ludwig clear interiors, and any OTHER drums that require interior finishing. Every single drum I've ever built gets this treatment. I usually mix the Zinsser amber and clear, but the net sonic effect is the same.

    Shawn, You are so badass.. Watched the whole thing. Your Bonham kit turned out Fantastic! I did a Yamaha 8000 series last year. 24,14, 16, 18. I got the wrap from Precision Drum co NY.. I had the help of a handy friend.. Watching your wrap was pretty much exactly what we did.. It was a blast and the kit came out awesome. I love your videos man.. Keep them coming. You rock.

    Wow, they look beautiful. Really nice job on everything. Your attention to detail makes a difference in looks, but also it should translate to the sound as well with precise bearing edges and the felt spring wrapping. Can't wait to hear them!!

    I bought a drum grommet tool from Bum Wrap- but yours is better- looks factory. Can you share how to make those simple tools? Thank you.

    • @shawnsdrumcave
      @shawnsdrumcave  9 месяцев назад +2

      The first one I used you can make out of stuff from the local home center. 5/16 counter sunk bolt with a nut washer and nylon washer. The second one I bought off someone years ago, I haven't seen them for sale anywhere. Thanks for watching!

  • @mellilore
    @mellilore 3 месяца назад +1

    AFAIK they didn't glue the badges, but hey no one can see it, it doesn't affect the sound and if it makes things easier why not

    • @shawnsdrumcave
      @shawnsdrumcave  3 месяца назад +1

      Keystones weren't glued but there's definitely some kind of adhesive under the blue and olive badges but like you said it doesn't really matter either way and thanks for watching!

  • @scott_ireson

    Where did you get the second grommet tool that rounds over the edge?

    • @shawnsdrumcave
      @shawnsdrumcave  23 дня назад

      i got it on ebay years ago, whey pop up once and awhile. not sure who was making them.

  • @Georgesavvas

    What was the tool used for reapplying the grommet? Thank you!

    • @shawnsdrumcave
      @shawnsdrumcave  Год назад +1

      One is that 5/16 countersunk bolt, the second one not sure how to explain it. Something I bought from someone online as a "grommet tool" but doesn't work well on its own which is way I use the two of them. Thanks for watching!
