Aaron's drumming got really predictable after DTGL I think, honestly their whole sound wore thin for me after hearing that album a few times. This ones always been the most interesting out of that whole 2nd era of Underoath for me. Daniel really is a fantastic drummer and I hope he goes on to do something since leaving ETID.
Daniel is a master of his craft. Very precise and thought out parts always in the pocket. Aaron is great too and I love his parts, but this record is completely a different beast. I almost look at it as an underoath side project.
@@DrummerEvan1 Daniel did also Low Teens, Redeemer, O God Aftermath, Bless The Martyr, now this one with Underoath and other indie-band album, which i am excited to listen to. Redeemer and Low Teens are two my favorite records of all time / and Daniel is simply my favorite drummer. His brutal intensity on drum kit, stands out and his "off" playing at some parts, is just insane. I mean, when i am listening to most of my favorite records, most of drum parts are at least, at some moments really predictable, but i wish that i can see Daniel how he did Redeemer. I was watching one Grand Scene For A Color Film drum cover and it was insane, how over the whole place his parts are + that brutal intensity, mainly snare sounds monumental from his hands. Only Goose Holyoak is at the same place, like Daniel - with his innovative and unique approach to drum fills. He did Polar Similar and Wrongdoers (btw, he recorded ALL cymbals SEPARATELY for that album, which is insane) and also ex-Helmet drummer, John Stainer - he was the first one, with raw snare approach in mainstream scene, i think. These three guys are so awesome, man but Daniel is just the king for me. This Underoath record is also one of my favorites, thx to him.
@@michaelcanada6583 obviously their previous records are masterpieces and this one dosent beat that but for the overall brutality of Spencer on this record is fucking insane and the lyrical work and Timothys guitars riffs and the drumming from Daniel and the effects from Chris make this album if not one of their darkest
This record is quite literally a masterpiece. It's a shame we will likely never get a follow up to this record other than the two singles before the break-up. Aaron is amazing, but Daniel added a whole new incredible dynamic to their sound that just can't be replicated.
Loved Daniel back when he was in Norma Jean so when they revealed he was the new drummer I was so stoked. He killed it on this whole album and especially on Vacant Mouth!
@@johnnybenavides033 Not OP, but My Deteriorating Incline is just hardcore punk assault. Insane drums, phenomenal lyrical content, the overall heading of the song for amazing closure/insane snare fill in the middle, bone crushing breakdown, the vocals are top notch. That song is just so physical.
Its crazy to see them say how much fun they had while writing this when now they've come out and said that writing this album was a soul-crushing experience. Especially Spencer. Still their best behind Define the Great Line in my opinion.
When you look at erase me and new Underoath record they are making now, you can hear how over-produced everything is and does not have that drive like Disambiguation had with constant sludgy distortion and hardcore emotions.
@@user-xs4rm1ti8f I am not wrong at all. You can clearly hear how there are no guitar feedbacks in last two Underoath records, when feedbacks were presented in Disambiguation everywhere. Erase Me was produced by a dude, that is working with mostly pop musicians, which is the reason, why everything is so over compressed. And of course, Daniel and his drums are literally unmatched. In each song, we can hear how there are multi-dimensional drum structures when it comes to the sound, sometimes they are quiet, on background, sometimes the snare is pumped enough (i can even show you exact moments on that record) and sometimes, we can hear MULTIPLE percussions (Illuminator has two drum kits, Driftwood has second drum kit at the bottom of the left headphone). I get it, my opinion is not working for everyone, but i don´t think i am wrong at all.
Voyeurist has a lot of atmosphere and weirdness, the main issue is the vocals are so buried in that mix and it’s the tuning on them is way too obvious. Erase me, well Matt Squire tends to do that to bands lmao.
Crazy to see how they’ve changed since this. The recording of Erase Me excluded two members entirely and I think it shows in how mediocre that record ended up.
Most of the time Tim, chris, Spencer and Aaron wrote the music. Honestly Erase me is a pretty clever record for what it is. It’s probably mediocre to people who expect them to do the same thing every time.
@@DrummerEvan1 clever,mediocre....blahblahblah it's just dudes writing songs. Songs that some People will like and find some Connection to, others simply don't. You guys talk about this Stuff, as if it was a math-term or a Business Model.^^

That depends. If Spencer never used drugs, he would never achieve that rawness of his vocals on Disambiguation. So it was for.. greater good i guess? Even those lyrics are circled around drug use and being drowned in something. So the irony of all that lies in the fact, that drugs were important so this record could be made in first place. It is interesting. Most of best records were made cause bad conditions and such. It is like.. when band members are going through some shit, the music will challenge them and it will take the best from them. It sometimes seems like the best is coming from the worst and visa versa.
the most underrated album of underoath, my favorite one...
This album is so atmospheric literally when Spencer comes in with those brutal screams make you feel like the end is near
It's apocalyptic...
i think Daniel built a masterpiece with this album

It is a really good record but I would hardly say Masterpiece Define the great line and Lost are closer to that

TheGame9894 The two songs which came after Disambiguation. Sunburnt and Unsound.
I literally wrote an essay about this album and showed part of this documentary to my college English class as part of the presentation back in 2010.
i want to see your essay man. i love talking about music in monstrous details.
I'd love to read it
One of the best underoath albums.
This is still Underoath's best album. Balls to the walls heavy, and super experimental. Straight up prog metal.
Their peak and one of my favorite albums of all time. They caught lightning in a bottle with it.
Loved Daniel back when he was in Norma Jean so when they revealed he was the new drummer I was so stoked. He killed it on this whole album and especially on Vacant Mouth!
Intro is nuts
so many phenomenal drum fills on the record. mine is the snare fill on My Deteriorating Incline, in the middle of the song. So fast and so heavy.
Drums in this album are absolutely horrible.

My favorite underoath album
I’m so glad this is finally on RUclips I’ve never seen this before this record was so underrated
Rewatching this. This is their best album in my opinion!
By far their best record!
They all looked so rough here
One of my favorite drummers to come out of this scene
Daniel Davison in underoath is definitely my favorite version of them sonically❤
Don’t tell Aaron that, I don’t think he could handle it

Incredible album! Amazing drummer :)
13:27 "And his mustache is formidable", best reason Daniel was a great drummer for this awesome album
Would of killed if they done a ten year anniversary tour for this record. Best record.
Love how they have the same producers as well
This album is my top ten all the time
I have definitely never seen this. Thanks for uploading!!!
Damn Spencer looked rough here lol
this was the height of his drug addiction between 2010-2013.
13:52 =. The slow part of catch myself or Spencer sings, “I sink down into the floor.”
this was Daniel's record in my opinion. Underoath's heaviest record. i love aaron but i don't think he could pull this album off
