I'm a biker and would love to have covered much of the area you have filmed. Just amazing. We have some nice twisties but sadly not the lovely weather. :-)
Fuel stops aren't much of an issue as long as you're aware of the bike's range and where the major towns are. GPS with petrol station info really helps with that! 😀 I've only had problems when I've deliberately pushed things and then got lost 🤣 A 350+ mile tank range on the GSA helps too! Scotland is nice but I've only seen it by train.
Nice adventure, I enjoyed your video. I hope to take a trip like that one day. I'm curious, where you wearing motorcycle boots when you hurt your ankle? If so, would you share which brand and model where they? Thank you for sharing your adventure
Yes, I was wearing a high end ADV boot. I bought them before the trip and they saved my ankle. My old moto boots did not have that much ankle protection and my ankle would have been broken if I had been wearing them. It was a weird fall and basically all the weight of the very heavy, fully loaded GSA was right on my ankle (it was actually pinned into the ground by the bike). The only type of boot that would have maybe performed better in that crush scenario would have been a true motocross boot.

Yes, that is very much an option. I like having at least a pit toilet and potable water (sometimes) available so I usually seek out the Forest Service campgrounds. But that can occasionally backfire if the generator-runners or late-night partiers show up!

True that! It's sometimes more convenient to stay in a campground, especially on long distance trips that are primarily on pavement. I usually seek out Forest Service campgrounds since they are less touristy and have an outhouse haha :)
I didn't choose the Mitas E07+ tires specifically for the trip, but they performed really well. Quieter than the 90/10 Anakee 3's that came with the bike. Don't even notice them on pavement except at very low speeds. I got them so I can ride fire roads and whatnot here in Southern California. We have to deal with loose sand pretty much everywhere here.

(At about t = 2:30 and 9:00) We don't say "THE 101" or "The 96" in NorCal, just in case you wanted to fit in better and not give away that you are from shallow Southern Cal ...
Passing other riders on a double yellow? Passing a row of vehicles at a one way construction zone stop light? Huh. Privileged mentality I see. Too bad you never managed to tap into those GS capabilities.
The other riders knew I was there and had moved to the far right of their lane to let me pass. I was giving them extra space but could have popped back into their lane if an on-coming vehicle appeared. Visibility up the opposing lane was quite far, more so than it appears in the video. It was a safe maneuver. It is standard for bikes to move to the front in places like that construction stop. Bikes are just naturally faster on curvy roads and it's best for everyone if they move to the front. Makes it more stress-free for everyone. Some might call it privilege but it really is the best way for everyone to relax and enjoy the road. Who wants bikes riding your butt waiting on a chance to pass?
Didn’t see anything wrong with how you passed the Harley guys. They obviously knew you were there as they moved over. I personally would not have passed the vehicles at the construction stop. Sometimes 4 wheelers, especially locals, can go way faster than bikers on a curvy road!
I was more concerned about getting in front of the guy pulling the massive trailer! haha While the location of the construction stop was in Washington State, here in California it is totally normal (and legal) to lane filter at red lights etc.
Appreciate the input. The trip was never intended to be action oriented or hard core. The camera isn't running 100% of the time (especially on a multi-week trip) so not everything gets captured.
