THIS is the kind of content that keeps me coming back for more! A motorcycle adventure from California to Montana? That’s the stuff of dreams! There’s nothing quite like watching these epic rides unfold the freedom, the open road, and those jaw-dropping landscapes along the way. Videos like this seriously make me feel like I’m right there, feeling the wind, seeing the world pass by, and living that adventurous spirit. It’s more than just a trip -it’s a lifestyle! Keep sharing these incredible journeys because they inspire all of us, whether we’re riders or just dreamers imagining the ride from our screens which is incredible!
I'm happy that you enjoyed coming along on the trip with me! 😀 I appreciated the comment as well as your enthusiasm!
I pull a camper trailer and typically drive 5 mph below the posted limit on curves. For three years I've used a pullout at the first opportunity every time I saw a car/motorcycle behind me. Pulling over that often adds 25% to my trip time. It gives me noticeably worse gas mileage and adds wear and tear on my brakes. I've done this hundreds of times but have never gotten a single friendly acknowledgement from any driver (honking horn, wave, etc.). You complain about how long it takes for people to get out of your way but maybe you could look at it from their point of view - they have to look for a pullout, navigate any lip or trash that could cause a flat, bring their rig to a complete stop, then start up again and get back on an often windy road with blind corners - just so you, a complete stranger, can get to your destination a tiny bit faster. If you wave thanks rather than getting annoyed that they didn't move aside faster then you might encourage more people to do it. I'm more and more inclined to just drive and let people enjoy the scenery behind me.
Just watched the Sherman Pass post. Love it up there! You forgot to mention Mc Nally’s & Ewings. Great restaurants on the Kern River & the brewery in Kernville. I live in Rio Bravo At the base of the Kern canyon by Bakersfield. Great video.
I ride up and camp pretty much every year. Great place
It sure is!
You posted this about 1 year ago. What time of year did you make this ride? I am planning on coming thru the opposite way in late May or early June this year and wonder what the chance of road being closed is?
The trip was filmed in late September. Sherman Pass Road is closed winters and usually opens in late May, depending on conditions. I suggest you check a few weeks before you plan on going.
Nice
Thanks!
I'm gonna guess that you are an Aquarius.
Good guess, but nope... Gemini 😉
you're not sharing the campground because you want to keep it a secret? you have 790 followers not 1 million😂😂😂
Well... not yet 1 million! 🤣
Here's more of your Road of Death 😍 ruclips.net/video/V0sPSzMkjG4/видео.html
Nice video. How long did the whole trip take ?
I think it was about 10 days or so.
@@ADVWandererwell without sleeping it would take approximately 15hrs but obviously we all have to sleep so yea 10 days 😊 absolutely love the vids dude
@@KiingKillerr I like to take the scenic route! And on long trips I try to do no more than about 5-6 hours in the saddle per day.
Thanks. Really enjoying it.
Great! Glad to hear it!
Gorgeous ride
Yes!
Passing other bikers is something i hate. Because then you are obligated to stay ahead of them. Usually after passing i see something beutitful i want to slow down and look at, but cant or the bikes i just pass will think i am being an ass hat.
Haha yeah. The Harley guys actually moved over to let me pass... So I was obligated lol
Great Video! I can't wait for the snow to get out of the mountains of Montana. I'm ready to explore. Thanks for sharing with us.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it will take a while for the snow to melt at altitude this year, but all that stored water is certainly welcome!
1st question, What the Hell were you doing in Cali-Wackie???
I live in Cali-Wackie! 😉
@@ADVWanderer Oh no, sorry Bro...Safe Travels
Epic route, despite the mishap.
It looks like every state in the west has similar beautiful. Very much unlike Florida where I live.
I enjoyed every second of this video. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Well, I have to admit that the single lane roads with no barriers on the sides of mountains put me through several panic attacks just as they did when I drove up into the mountains of the north island of New Zealand where they were only gravel and no pavement. I look forward to watching many more of your videos!! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Dean! Glad you enjoyed it!
Why don't you have more subscribers? Your videos are great and you are very pleasant to listen to. Great work, thank you! You need more videos! :)
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I need to take more trips so I can make more videos!😀
The boxer engine sounds nice
Done it many times! Lots of dirty turns in spring!
It was the first time for me! Very nice area.
Crap music. Too much Google Earth, or whatever. Your baby boomer is showing.
Do you have anything posted regarding, how long was the trip etc? I know you don't like to share campsite details.... just looking for general overall trip info. Did you ship your bike from HB to AK?
Hi Amit! I flew to AK and purchased the bike there. I took my time and spent about 2 months travelling down to SoCal. It can be done much faster but then you can't smell all the roses! The next video in the series, the Bonus Video, shows the overall trip and some stats at the very end.
Beautiful scenery and winding roads with almost no traffic make for a great ride - thanks for sharing!
Can I ask how you got such clean audio of you talking while riding?
I am using a quality lavalier (lav) microphone tucked under the cheek pad of my helmet.
Campground around 9:30 is Mathews Creek Campground in Klamath NF. You're Welcome :)
I was surprised by the number of folks in the comments who were upset about that! 😕
Nice trip!!!
It was! Glad you enjoyed the vid.
I'm a Jasperite local thinking to ride Haida Gwaii next season. Thanks for sharing this adventure video.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I enjoyed my time in the Jasper area. I was able to get a shower! haha As for Haida Gwaii, you should go for it!
Nice trip, thanks for posting, do you have a GPX file of the route you can share?
Thanks! I don't keep GPX files but would be happy to provide info for any specific road you were curious about.
Great video. Funny to watch on a rainy Oregon coast evening. Your audio is perfect....Will you tell us how you accomplished crystal clear audio? Thanks! A couple of other notes....there are only two CHP cruiser who patrol the section where you got a toot from a siren. One of those guys is a rider....he might have been saying hello to a fellow rider. Also, i am currently recuperating from a badly sprained right ankle. Slow speed U turn in a restaurant parking lot-my 2016 R12 GSA decided to map on my ankle.....
Thanks, glad I kept you entertained on a rainy Oregon night! I use a high-quality lavalier (lav) mic inside my full-face helmet, tucked behind the cheek pad. It's a pretty simple set-up really. As for the CHP "toot", I edited that into the video! 😉 Sorry to hear about your ankle, mine took a while to heal up!
@@ADVWanderer Update, March 22, 2022, still in pain, but probably not gonna get much better. Next time you are in Oregon, stop by. The guest room is yours!
Sorry to hear about that! It takes a while but I found doing a simple ankle balancing exercise of standing on one leg with my eyes closed really helped to strengthen and repair my ankle over time.
That's my stomping ground in NorCal. I love the Lost Coast and Sawyer's Bar/Forks of Salmon area. I've done those roads in MT through Yaak too.
They're great areas to stomp! 👍
Great vids you need to stop more seamed rushed smell some roses note! If you ride off rode you will drop it
Thanks! It can be a challenge to balance documenting the journey and the destinations while keeping the video relatively short. I will try to include more roses next time! 😀
Nice adventure, I enjoyed your video. I hope to take a trip like that one day. I'm curious, where you wearing motorcycle boots when you hurt your ankle? If so, would you share which brand and model where they? Thank you for sharing your adventure
Yes, I was wearing a high end ADV boot. I bought them before the trip and they saved my ankle. My old moto boots did not have that much ankle protection and my ankle would have been broken if I had been wearing them. It was a weird fall and basically all the weight of the very heavy, fully loaded GSA was right on my ankle (it was actually pinned into the ground by the bike). The only type of boot that would have maybe performed better in that crush scenario would have been a true motocross boot.
Beautiful ride! Enjoyed the adventure with you through here!
Glad to hear it! Happy to have you along for the ride! 😎
Really great trip. but it is all so rushed.
Thanks! It can be challenging to show enough without making the video too long. It was a two week trip. I tried my best to give an overall flavor of the journey. I figured 20 minutes was already pushing it! 😉
Really nice video. My wife and I had our honeymoon at Crater Lake. My goal is to ride my Suzuki Boulevard there.
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Yes, Crater Lake is very picturesque. Jump on your bike and go! 😎
Wowee! A dream come true, beautiful scenery and the courage to just do it!
Glad you enjoyed it! You Only Live Once!
Why did you choose 50/50 tires ?
I didn't choose the Mitas E07+ tires specifically for the trip, but they performed really well. Quieter than the 90/10 Anakee 3's that came with the bike. Don't even notice them on pavement except at very low speeds. I got them so I can ride fire roads and whatnot here in Southern California. We have to deal with loose sand pretty much everywhere here.
What tires did you put on during the trip? Also, we’re you given the wrong brake pads…what happened with that ?
I would think that you would want to be in formative to your viewers, why would you not share the location and the name of the campground that you were at.It’s a big world out there you can share it with others
A couple of people have commented about the campground name. A poor attempt at humor on my part... The name was visible on the entrance sign, as well as on my phone display. Matthews Creek Campground near Forks of Salmon, California.
What were you riding
2018 BMW R1200GSA
@@ADVWanderer thanks Bro big bike
Good job. I liked the route. Next time give me call we can go together.
Sure! But only if you agree to travel on my schedule and to do all the camp set-ups and tear-downs while I sip coffee! 🤣
Ingat idol keep safe beautiful place
I just watches the video because far cry 5
Passing other riders on a double yellow? Passing a row of vehicles at a one way construction zone stop light? Huh. Privileged mentality I see. Too bad you never managed to tap into those GS capabilities.
The other riders knew I was there and had moved to the far right of their lane to let me pass. I was giving them extra space but could have popped back into their lane if an on-coming vehicle appeared. Visibility up the opposing lane was quite far, more so than it appears in the video. It was a safe maneuver. It is standard for bikes to move to the front in places like that construction stop. Bikes are just naturally faster on curvy roads and it's best for everyone if they move to the front. Makes it more stress-free for everyone. Some might call it privilege but it really is the best way for everyone to relax and enjoy the road. Who wants bikes riding your butt waiting on a chance to pass?
Didn’t see anything wrong with how you passed the Harley guys. They obviously knew you were there as they moved over. I personally would not have passed the vehicles at the construction stop. Sometimes 4 wheelers, especially locals, can go way faster than bikers on a curvy road!
I was more concerned about getting in front of the guy pulling the massive trailer! haha While the location of the construction stop was in Washington State, here in California it is totally normal (and legal) to lane filter at red lights etc.
OK, Karen.
Did he hurt your feelings!?
Stealth camping all along hwy 36 in Northern California
Yes, that is very much an option. I like having at least a pit toilet and potable water (sometimes) available so I usually seek out the Forest Service campgrounds. But that can occasionally backfire if the generator-runners or late-night partiers show up!
U could of camped anywhere to be honest, no ranger would of messed with u!!!!
Sorry dude, but that was boring. A road trip on an overpowered bike, and your biggest challenge was a gravel road?
Appreciate the input. The trip was never intended to be action oriented or hard core. The camera isn't running 100% of the time (especially on a multi-week trip) so not everything gets captured.
@@ADVWanderer Understood, but riding cross country is not just about the camera facing forward. or recording trees. There are towns, where you spend the night, interesting/unique meals, maybe some curious joe who you exchange a few words. A recording of after your injury, to add some drama. Again, sorry dude
You're not wrong Marc! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be sure to incorporate them next time I record a trip.
@@marct9942 Seriously, meals? The last thing I want to do is look at what somebody eats. I cant believe how much you and others were hating on his video. He did a good job.
@@darrellhay Good for you. You have your likes and we have ours. Why don't you respect opinions? The OP did
He wants to keep the camp ground a secret. Hmm let me take a wild guess. I get to guess three tries. Here I go, this is going to be hard. 1) Mathews Greek 2) Mathews Greek 3) Mathews Greek Hmm, did I mentioned Mathews Greek? 🤣
Haha you got it! But it is Creek not Greek! 😂 Not sure if you noticed but the sign was visible on my way in! :)
Very Awesome video. Thank you for sharing your trip with us!!!!! Hope your ankle is better...
Glad you enjoyed it! Yep, the ankle is all healed up!
Google map inset are great. For a change I don't have to to go on GE to see where exactly people are in the world
Nice to hear that the maps are appreciated!
