  • We hit our stride with our low buck Bronco project as we smooth out some of the rough spots on the body and build in a do-it-yourself roll cage for a little protection. Then for less than $200 we're gonna paint this old Ford in a way you'd never expect! It's a radical but inexpensive paint job that'll christen this low buck buildup, Das Bronco!
    PARTS USED IN THIS EPISODE:
    Dupli-Color: 1 quart each silver, red, blue, yellow, orange, case of truck bed coating, charcoal metallic, clear, orange anodize, spray cans.
    Dupli-Color: Cast iron manifold paint, block paint, vinyl and fabric dye.
    Dupli-Color: Grey primer, Championship white, Jet Black, Mineral Grey, clear coat.
    O'Reilly Auto Parts: Filler Primer.
    Suprepme Performance: EP 12.5 and wireless control.

    @4:16 in my 20 plus years in the body shop I have never seen a hole rust that has filler pushed through it. I have seen rust on the back side of the panel when the Ecoat gets burned off from using the stud gun. Not to mention seeing fires start from the big flame that lights up the foam or jut inside from the stud gun.

  • @mr.mckinnon5680
    @mr.mckinnon5680 4 года назад

    There's actually a much simpler method than using the back camera on that stud gun. There is a stud lever on the market. That will allow you to put pressure on the low spot, while you tap the high spot with your hammer. This is a much more accurate way of setting metal height. Because every time that hammer, pulls against that stud, it will create a mountain underneath it. This is because you are actually impacting the metal. It's just being focused, into a smaller area. That small area is still being impacted. At the point where that stud is welded to the panel, it actually tempers the steel. Making it more and more difficult to move. If you are not paying attention, you are actually creating oil can. My advice, get rid of the hammer, and get a stud lever. They cost about 35 or 40 bucks. But the amount of time effort and energy that you will save using that tool, is priceless. And just for the record. Stay away from the Harbor Freight stud gun. I have seen them Catch Fire and burn up on the first trigger pull. Spend the money, get a good one. Because you're going to use it thousands of times.

    The floors rotted out, because the stub was knocked out of square. Judging from the size of that dent. And where it's located, I'd say your doors are going to have a difficult time lining up. Thank God for the metal stretcher, right? And just for the record for all you newbies. You start with the last damage first. Not at the point of impact. Reversing the damage is the easiest way the correct the damage. And in order to reverse the damage, you have to go to the point where it stopped. Not where it started. Newton's laws of physics applies... Transfer of energy. Where did the impact stop? This answer is easy... You start at the point of impact, and draw a straight line. Over the course of time, you will develop an "eye", for scene where the damage stopped. It's called, indirect damage. This is the damage do you have to prove to the insurance company that has happened. Otherwise, they will not pay to fix it. And this is how they save themselves 20% or more on car repairs. Thank God they only pass the savings off at 15% on to you. But that's only one part of the savings... The key ingredient to saving 20% or more on car repairs, is Bondo. I wish, it was as simple as hitting it with a back Hammer. And then they demonstrate, the most typical aspect of auto repair... Pack its ass in duraglass, and ship it down Road. And why would they paint it white? Because white hides body work. Plain and simple.

      @@johndowe7003 It's not so much the fading. It's the fact that as hard as you try you are not able to penetrate like actual dyeing, so over time (a fairly short time) it first cracks and then starts flaking off. @mr.mckinnon5680 4 года назад

    Be careful with that dolly. Because there's actually two methods for using that Dolly. One is called the hammer on. Which is the technique he is using. This pinches the metal between the hammer and the dolly, and can by itself cause a condition known as oil canning. If your panel oil cans enough, then the filler will just fall right out. Thank you to a phenomenon called, low frequency resonance vibration. No Object on this planet, is immune from that phenomena. The other method is called the hammer off, which is using the dolly as a reinforcement, while striking the metal offset from the dolly. This will allow you to accurately set metal height on the panel. It's simple Leverage. The Denton at rear quarter, would have probably been replaced as an entire panel in my shop. Because it's not the stuff that you can see that's damaged. It's the stuff you can't see that needs to be strained as well. Body work is much more entailed then what does 18 minute video will teach you. It takes years to develop the skill. And there's only two ways to do it. Practice and repetition. You will never get it right your first time. I don't care who you are. And if you haven't gotten it right by the third time... This might not be your gig.

    Stop mixing your videos. I tried to follow the green camaro, I actually really wanted to see it. Your mixing of other projects in the middle of specific titles is very annoying! It seems you can't stay on tract, and youtube can't keep any singular series intact.... so, grow up. Stop trying to be so dramatic, string your vids together better, stop mixing videos in with unsupporting videos. Let me be clear, I actually like you guys, you mixing every thing up? Yea, no.
