  • We’ve done a lot of backyard builds, from dirt jumps to trails, slopestyle jump and MTB pump tracks. But i never thought I’d get the chance to build my own skatepark at my house. This is a dream project and will be super difficult but insanely rewarding at the end! What features should we build and what should I build on the deck area? A skateboard ramp? Scooters…. Enjoy the build lapse and new build and ride episode!

    I think the top deck should be like a 3/4 mini bowl, mini ramp all three walls. This would allow for airs onto the deck going straight back and fakie or 180 back into main park.

    @Gandi800 Год назад +953

    Knowing how much you like to try new and different things you should leave the center area open and install anchor points you can fasten features to. That way you could put wheels on a feature, slide it in place and anchor it down, use it for awhile, then change it out.

    A half bowl at the top would be sick, everything a mini ramp has to offer but can use it as a berm as well to turn around

  • @olliepackman199
    @olliepackman199 Год назад +166

    What would be really sick is if you cut a little doorway in the back right corner which you can ride your bike through to some sort of other feature - maybe even dirt. Would extend the space

      @olliepackman199 Год назад +2

      @@i-_-am-_-g1467 true, but he probably doesn’t want it to take up space that’s in the way of the courtyard. Maybe a little flat bank up to the level of the bottom of the park would give more room to bail if you go wide and also ride into the skatepark rather than lift bike up

    • @olliepackman199

      Could maybe even make the little doorway inside of a ramp/half pipe so that you can air over the gap in the ramp

    Maybe make the center features movable/removable to change things up over time. A second cool feature would be an opening out of one of the metal sides that takes you onto some dirt features outside.

    I've never commented on AN video. You can reuse all the ply for a temporary floor. Finish the 1/4s and bank. Make an massive vert wall inline with the bank on the opposite wall. Temporary floor to ride. And go from there. If, after riding, you can fit a center feature. Pull up the ply and put something in. I'm so excited to see what you boys do! LOVE the channel! Legends!

    try making one of the ramps have a clear acrylic surface so you can see the inner workings of it while you are riding. also probably test if it is a good riding surface first

    for MTB, having faster, bigger jumps is part of what separates them from BMX imo. I think starting out with the whole space as a giant halfpipe would be the way to go. That way, you can start from the top section, and not have to worry about having too much speed.
    I like the idea @gandi800 had, of having movable obstacles that bolt down to the floor. Then if you aren't using the full halfpipe, you could pull out any number of smaller obstacles or ramps as you session back and forth.

    Idea!!!!
    Box jump with mellower landing leading into the right quarter, directly next to the box a spine so it could be transferred from box to spine from either take of or landing. Or spine -> box.
    Transfers are what will make this park feel awesome in such a small space!

    The left corner if you look towards the upstairs, that corner could be like a round bowl corner with a additional wall ride feature to air out the bowl to a wall ride to back into the bowl but the end edge of the bowl could be a quaternary pipe hip type corner so the other way you can 270 it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    You need to add a "heat box", a small 2/4 person room that is isolated to the max so you can hang a wall mounted heater in there. A chair or two with a isolated window to watch the ramp. Would be so nice on the colder days

    Have you thought about insulating the ceiling and external walls? That will help with the echo sounds and stabilize the temperatures if you close the skatepark off.
    If you truly want to take this space to the next level, I'd look into acoustical baffles to hang from the ceiling. You can find some really cool styles, and it would make the videos sound way better. Maybe hang a big red bull logo that can absorb sound in the middle? Love the builds and the progressions!

    Looks great. You should think about adding more structural support to the floor. Right now the floor beams is supported on the wood screws drilled in the leggs. By adding another legg underneath the floor beam down to the ground most of the weight will be diverted from the screws and it will not be in risk of collapsing.

    Looks insane so much potential you for sure need to build some sort of box jump after the roll in area maybe around a 6ft lip have it nice and steep so the gaps short but you still go high so you don’t run out of room definitely need a spine next to the box jump so you get lots of transfers can’t wait to see what you build

  • @pokeysgaming

    The top deck should be a 3/4's mini bowl. And you definitely need a box jump in the center line of the bank. Then probably a pyramid or an A-frame at the back wall with some ledges across the wallside. Loving this build! Again this will be epic! Much love! Legends!

  • @lachlandruhan9567

    I think you should build a rainbow adjacent to the big vert wall which then leads into a large right hip in the back left corner and moving into another large hip in the back right corner and a nice little step up back onto the 6ft quarter. An idea for the middle would be a roller with spines on either side for transfers. This room has so much potential!

    I'd just make it a chill spot up top. A couch, some TV's, get some speakers put in for the place. A fridge, a tool bench to work on your bike if you need.. etc.. A mini ramp will get old when you have a massive skatepark. I'd do the mini ramp outside and just build an overhang so you have more head room. Once you realize that if you get even a foot of air you'll break your neck on the roof, you'll have wasted time and effort into putting it somewhere unusable and just want to move it anyways. Plus if you put it outside you can actually ride in and out of it...
    Also I'd put a few stationary HD cams in a few spots. Not only for insurance reasons but also for filming.

    From the main roll-in, you could build a large spine that can be ridden no matter what speed you have (this could allow you to go really high). Then line the back wall with a quarter that can be aired both ways and have two jump boxes on either side of the spine on the way back.

    With the playground, it feels fitting that you should have a title for this new venue...
    My suggestion would be to name your barn "The Theatre".
    It has everything going for it to become one, not to mention you have the workshop concealed away where surgery will, without a doubt, take place on multiple bikes.
    Lastly, I think you should name the top deck area where you mentioned making a mini skate section "Main Stage" 😁 for reasons that I hope are obvious.

    Mini half pipe up top with a one foot extension on each side so you can hip transfer left or right into the main park area. Left side hip, middle box jump and right side spine with a 1ft deck instead of a double coping. Big quarter all the way along the backside with the left side going up into a vert wall. Right side of the park on the back wall have it turn into a bowl corner back on your self and then have a set of wooden dirt style jumps into a padded wall if you have too much speed from the jumps.

    That top deck needs a mini pump track to whip around and back into the drop in. 💥💣

    I’ve been a joiner/carpenter for 30 years and you guys would put a lot of guys to shame, love your channel and enthusiasm, relate to the cold hands had to warm mine up with my Raptor for many years, 😎

      Must not be working with great carpenters then, this isn't even upto standard for a basic courtyard deck so far. All well and good to have confidence but they really should have someone with a bit more structural knowledge too

    To slow the speed down from the drop in, build a ramp that lands you into a foam pit! Would be fun to see that.

    The 8' Quarter on the left might be better half-width with a hip (corner seems like deadspace); you'd be able to straight jump to coping/deck or transfer right into the quarters. Then a quarter on that back wall to give an approach.

    The mini ramp is a yes. In the corner to the left of the roll in (the one nearer the back wall) how about one of those half ball shaped things for loads of in and out routes.

    A central spine would definitely be the move. Plus on one side if it morphed into a volcano feature it would open up the rest of the park with hips in and out and such

    Dude Matt you gotta build the mini ramp on the upper deck like a 3 walled bowl with quarter pipes on every wall and bowl corners to pump around connecting them. That way you can air up on to the upper deck and roll straight into a quarter and do a lil jibby trick or 2 and then air back down into the lower park. I picturing 180 up to fakie bar spin then head straight back in. Or 180 fakie roll to 180 fakie roll to halfcab back in for Ben maybe lol

    I love the start of a new build series. So much potential and love not knowing how it’s going to finish. Yes to the mini ramp. Definitely needs a sofa and a decent sound system. I can picture a band playing up there

    Deffo need a box jump in the middle after bank, and a spin next to it that leads up to one of the quarters. Can spine transfer to box landing etc, so much potential

    Looks awesome but you should put pieces of lumber under your joists as well that supports the weight of the floor! Screws are good for fastening but not supporting weight!

    Maybe get a moveable resi.mat to put on the half pipe landing and on a possible future box jump. Looks sick and I agree with other people's suggestions as to make the middle modular which that with the resi will get the most out of the limited space

    Definitely step up from the quarter and then fakie the top deck and 180 back in

    100% put a little wood burner a couple sofas and a tv on that top deck, warm up in between runs

    On the loft build a small shack where you can warm yourself up.
