As the sun finally burrows its way into bed, you leave Ji-eun's apartment, finding the empty street outside lost in mist. You know your way back home but you don't take it. Throughout the city you find velvet gardens draped in the colors of nearby shop windows and cafes. The tender stare of a stranger, their face illuminated by phone light from below and street lamps from above. The steps you take start to melt into one another, softly being enveloped by some unknown force that carries you forward. The night blooms further, the light becomes more and more neon. The skyline turns obsidian and the same old doubts replay in your head. But the momentum of something greater than yourself pushes you forward. Into and then back out of the lights of different entrances, effecting your egress into the night over and over again. You lose track of time, slipping into ash filled streets farther from the center of the city. Outskirts where all color has been lost save for the silver rain of moonlight. An empty palette, a lake of mercury and ash, obsidian and velvet. Would any life have been lived the same as yours, City Girl?

ever since I was little it's been my ultimate dream to live in a high-rise apartment deep in the city, being able to look out on all the lights and dream-like wonder of a place that never sleeps. everyone i know tells me its a horrible idea, it's too expensive, it's too dangerous, etc. but i don't care. it's all i want.

Yea hey can't sleep either? Welcome to the club. Just stay here and listen with me. You will start to cry over how beautiful this album is, and your tears will put you to sleep.
bruh that first song is the one you hear on like, every lofi mix. to be able to reach that level of prevalence in an industry with so much different music...thats talent. thats real talent. well done :)
city girl, why do you look at the sky, at night when lights glow along streets flooded with people and bare flowerbeds - city girl, when will you realize that the city is not perfect for you, run away to a place that’s open - city girl, what are you thinking, staring off in the distance zoned out from busy streets and loud voices - city girl, who do you love in your dreams of happiness and purple skies, blue roads and cream stars - city girl, where do you want to go, perhaps a lonely beach or a vast forest or maybe back home - city girl, how do you spend your days, where the nights are gone and your dreams leave; you look lonely.

@@Rafael-vu2xn Well, people who've written philosophy and lectured in the past were legends who became successful by being rich in thought, mind, and self (i.e., Confucius, Lao Tzu). Looking on the brighter side, there are many ways to accumulate money, regardless of which degree that you get, so long as you get some experience within the job industry. I grew up in the middle of bum fuck nowhere, and being able to live in a sizable Western city was always my dream. Being able to be my own person, not being forced to listen to other peoples bullshit, bustling city life all around me, beautiful shops draped with flowers decorations and neon signs everywhere. I finally moved into something like that. Independence is bliss.
Clicked out of curiosity via thumbnail, listened to the entire thing uninterrupted. Really an introspective album, one of those albums you just impulse buy the CDs for after a first go. Great work!
I want to say thank you for putting out this music. Listening to this truly feels like I am imagining a world, and also giving me nostalgia. I also noticed this was not the kind of Lofi or Chillhop copy-paste music, and I want to thank you for creating something completely unique!
thank u so much, this is a really nice comment. It is so important to me that my emotions and feelings are in the music, and i think that is why it sounds unique (i hope). thanks again

I discovered this last year, while waiting for a cheer competition. We were chilling on the highest floor in the convention center. And boy I had the best experience. I sat on one of the smooth, white wall shelves with a plant and a electric socket right next to me. It was peaceful, like this shelf was my home. Then the beat dropped. I definetly showed this music to my cheer friends.
I suddenly got nostalgic for this album last night, spent almost an hour trying to find it. So glad I stumbled across it again, I really missed the vibes. Thank you so much for the music, it means a lot to a lot of people :)
I’ve been listening to this playlist since 2 years ago, it’s been a big part of my life, gaming, quarantine, homework, drawing. I never get tired of these songs exactly. I buy the exact same candle from years ago, light it and done. Back in time to when I was living easy in 5th grade
I listen to this walking to and fro school. I have anxiety. I have it while walking under the sun, when people are walking in front and behind me. I have it when I walk home at night-- the street dark and empty, then I see a lone car ahead with a man on the driver's seat. I pray I am invisible each time. This music helps me calm down a lot. It takes me to a world of my owm
Never thought I was a fan of this kind of thing, but RUclips randomly went to Neon Impasse after another video ended, and I can't get this out of my head. Having a hard time putting into words exactly why I like it, but I think that's actually part of its charm.
I have ADHD and this music really helps calm my mind down so I can sleep at night. It's stimulating enough to keep my mind from racing, but chill enough to help me relax. Thank you for making this
this album will always hold a special place in my heart. I remember listening to Ji-eun's Sunset a lot during a really rough patch of my life and to be honest it was an amazing help. then later on I discovered the whole album while playing a game called valheim. can you imagine the experience of hearing something so soothing to the ears while exploring the depths of a dark forest seeing deer scurry past you and sleeping by blue luminescent lakes. this is a time my heart will always remember and i will always have a special kind of spark when listening to this album. it has truly blessed me and every time i listen to it I feel as if I've been taken to a completely different world, far detached from this one. A world where tall looming trees block out the sunlight leaving nothing but a peaceful shade and the glow of a blue lake and the curiosity of exploration.
City girl albums are the perfect videos to listen to when reading in a noisy house, there’s no lyrics or anything super distracting but still calming music that’s enough to drown out the noise. And they’re long videos, so I don’t have to constantly pick my phone up to look for more music.
@@Bv-yl5dg I think so too. I'm pretty sure it only works if you put the timestamps for each song in the description, I just noticed it a week ago. If you put the timestamps as the pinned comment, it doesn't work.
City girl, been listening to you for years. Just wanted to share how much I appreciate the impact your music has had on me; I’m forever grateful for the smile it puts on my face as I’m hit with a rush of memories of when I heard your music for the first time. Your music has an incredible effect on me and I’ll never forget it for as long as I live. 🙏🏽 💞
I listened to this while I was home alone, doing my homework on the couch in my dining room. It was getting dark, so the setting sun just shone beautifully through all the windows into the room. My dog was sitting next to me, sleeping peacefully, even though he was snoring a bit, but I didn't mind, I thought it was cute. Thanks for making homework time a little more bearable for me, this album is fantastic, I'd totally listen again if I had the chance. Take care
I know you probably wont see this but I just wanted to let you know that this album has been my go too since it came out, I'm a very anxious bean normally and your music just has this power to calm me down and reground me, so wanted to say really is thankyou so much, I hope if you do see this message it might make you smile like your music does for me, I genuinely dont know how I would manage without it x
I hooked this up to my car the other day and turned up the volume way up. Oh my God!!! The most beautiful, chill music with a bass you can feel vibrating your car. Amazing!
I love listening to this album as I do my sewing. It's just really relaxing and I'm able to take my mind away from thinking and just chill out and focus on my work.
Every single time, this album seems to touch my heart, set a new wonder alight in my mind that I can't explain. I love it when music is so soothing you can wrap yourself up in it like a favourite blanket, even in the toughest of times, and it brings memories of when you first heard it and fell in love. Thank you for this, it's so remarkable that it brings us together and strikes a chord with so many people.
this album carries lots of memories for me, i remember being in my hometown listening to this as i study during covid and now 4 years later im in a completely new place and school, kinda weird how life changes. ji-eun's sunset is so memorable for me, thank you citygirl
The artwork is BIG MOOD. Didn't realize it would make me feel so many feels. Time to go do some soul searching under some poorly lit streetlights in San Francisco on a winter night.
so far velvet garden, city girl, and the light of an egress are my fav tracks but i know i'll fall in love with each track over and over again in new ways
Since 2018 I have used this music to study and read. I never told you how cool it is. It also reminds me of the warm spring nights we lived in Buenos Aires in 2018. Gooooood timees from when I started university ♥
Ur music is legit sooo good no joke my 6 year old lil sis falls asleep listening to this and it is HARD to get her to sleep 😂 thx for putting ur music out here it makes me happy
These songs are like the noises you hear while walking through the city centre. Like the funky song you hear while passing by a caffe, or the or an open window of a party. Maybe a song from a passing car. All of these kind of like a hallucination and played all together.
This album will always hold a special spot in my heart. I listened to it when I was packing my stuff up to move away from Reno. I feel nostalgic for city life when I listen to it now ❤
Nights pass too quickly for me now. Even in winter, even at my high latitude, night still feels like a fleeting, tenuous boundary between one day and the next. There's no magic in it anymore. But every now and then I can still catch that feeling, the bracing air, darkness, glow of streetlights and almost-quiet combining in just the right way... that's what this album reminds me of. A slightly younger me spent long nights simply experiencing the sleeping world and listening to this album; listening to it now is like catching that nighttime magic once again, just for a little while.
i remember stumbling across your music a long- ish time ago but i slowly forgot about it. 2 years later i find this is my recommended and you don't know how happy it made me. i'm glad you're getting the recognition you deserve
Been getting into more lofi playlists and it's nice to find an artist have a full on album. This is great! Fantastic writing and mixing, I really got into it. I look forward to hearing more of your content :)
Kind of crazy how I listened to this the summer after I graduated hs…it’s been 6 years and all I wish for is to go back to those summer nights with my best friends. Asia, Anthony, John, Leqi, Mark, Michael. Miss you guys.
Omg, i have no words to describe how much i love your music City Girl! Your music has helped to go through difficult times, please dont stop making such beatifull music!
i feel so grateful to be able and share this music. we all have special artists that help us get through tough times, it feels amazing to be one of those artists ♡♡ thank u so much!
I recently started listening to lo-fi and found your music to be particularily good, I mean to be honest you're like the only channel that actually produces their own music which I very much appreciate. I also love the lo-fi comment sections, makes me feel like I'm part of a big family. I'm glad to have found a place I can chill at every night. I'm struggling *hard* with my depression and anxiety and I don't really know if this helps as much as it just fills the void of silence when I'm thinking to be honest. But I like to think it does. Anyways, thank you so much for existing city girl and please, don't stop what you're doing. Also you're *waaaay* underrated and I hope you grow bigger in the future. And have a good night (or day i guess) everyone who miraculously sees this comment!
When I listen to vaporwave, lounge jazz,, and city pop, I get nostalgia for a 1980s that never was, a 2010s that never happened, and a 2060s that will never happen, a nighttime megalopolis of neon lights, signs in Asian languages, streets and alleys of seemingly seedy places and people but are simply those who want to help you relax and meditate, a place where you are some peculiar mix of lonely, content, and at peace in the vast multitude of similar people, something Night Valean but in an urban context, something like Night City or the Los Angeles of Blade Runner but twisted into a utopia of rest and serenity. Whether you party hard at the club or get a massage at the spa, this nocturnal utopia just resonates with you. It is home.
I can't believe the album is so famous, I totally forgot about her I remember listening to the whole album while studying and now she has 3 million+ views Thats amazing! Congrats
I keep coming back to this video and to see the view amount increasing everytime is actually kind of heart pounding. And you're almost at 1 million views you deserve it and more!
I listen to this as my morning routine when I get up for school/work because is so gentle. Thank you for the beautiful music. Greetings from Paris, France!
Ji-eun's Sunset might be the song that has transmited me the most in a long time, those first seconds with the summer night vibes along with that artwork just takes me straight there; I imagine a busy city resting in night, I have just left this girl I met not so long ago and as I walk away down the street thinking about nothing and everything she goes out just to look at the sky over the skyscrapers in this warm night thinking: maybe the same? Or maybe not, she has been so misterious I dont even know. Sorry for the long post, is just that everything here fits so well with my inside expectations that I had to write this, what a piece of art.
Happy 5 year anniversary of such an excellent album City Girl! I can't begin to tell you how many times your music has been a magical part of the soundtrack of my life, and I just appreciate you art so much🤍
As the sun finally burrows its way into bed, you leave Ji-eun's apartment, finding the empty street outside lost in mist.

I click on this and I immediately smile. Makes me forget about sadness and remember happier feelings.
A world where tall looming trees block out the sunlight leaving nothing but a peaceful shade and the glow of a blue lake and the curiosity of exploration.
valheim is so cozy! that sounds like a lovely experience. thanks
beautifully written candy, i can imagine what you're saying perfectly and is oddly inspiring. hope you're doing well.

ok so now these songs and the story you made of it makes me want to walk in the streets at night .
this is the kinda music I listen to on drives home. After a long day of work, I just put this on in the car and drive.
Shout-out to RUclips persistent recommendations. I love it! The entire album! New subscriber
I've been listening to City Girl's mixes religiously since online "distance learning" began on the 1st. God I love her stuff
Lydia Mack SAME!
私の好み過ぎて偶然この音楽に出会えたことだが奇跡に等しい。言葉にしてらんない!ずっと聴いていられます♡
the bass and electric guitar in Ji Eun's Sunset is so addictive 💙
Lofi community is the only one on Internet to not be toxic. Love u guys
It's 2020 and i can't let this album off my head. It's addictive in such a beautiful way
Drugas it gave you some drugs to addict it EPICALLY

@@solattes shut the fuck up you liked your own comment you introvert
City girl albums are the perfect videos to listen to when reading in a noisy house, there’s no lyrics or anything super distracting but still calming music that’s enough to drown out the noise. And they’re long videos, so I don’t have to constantly pick my phone up to look for more music.
This album is so amazing
:D writing this, I (hope that I) have an 60m2 in HCMC in the next 2 years! Work harder sis!
I've never seen a RUclips video split up into sections like this, very neat!
almost all mixes are like that now. i think its a new feature?
@@Bv-yl5dg I think so too. I'm pretty sure it only works if you put the timestamps for each song in the description, I just noticed it a week ago. If you put the timestamps as the pinned comment, it doesn't work.
City girl, been listening to you for years. Just wanted to share how much I appreciate the impact your music has had on me; I’m forever grateful for the smile it puts on my face as I’m hit with a rush of memories of when I heard your music for the first time. Your music has an incredible effect on me and I’ll never forget it for as long as I live. 🙏🏽 💞
if there‘s a vinyl version of this i‘m totally gonna buy it
3 years later and I still keep coming back :D
Wow just found u city girl. I’m 60 and I find this music amazing. 🎀
Take care
Aw, thank you for the lovely comment!
I know you probably wont see this but I just wanted to let you know that this album has been my go too since it came out, I'm a very anxious bean normally and your music just has this power to calm me down and reground me, so wanted to say really is thankyou so much, I hope if you do see this message it might make you smile like your music does for me, I genuinely dont know how I would manage without it x
thank u
28:30 Can someone explain to me why did i randomly started to shed tears in the middle of this part? I can't explain how beautiful this part was.
aww, its a very tender moment! i sometimes have cried listening to my music too lol
thank you so much!
The high hat sounds like sniffling to me
@Lorster
Certain music can have this power... Have a good day. 😉
I, very much, love this album. This album, specifically the first song, was my very first step to get to discover lo-fi.
I hooked this up to my car the other day and turned up the volume way up. Oh my God!!! The most beautiful, chill music with a bass you can feel vibrating your car. Amazing!
City Girl you make me so happy. Everything is a masterpiece. Well done.
AWH thank u darling! ⁽⁽◝( • ω • )◜⁾⁾
All I want is a large canvas of this to hang on my wall
Been having issues sleeping with university stress. Groovy music like this puts my soul at ease.
u can do it ! glad my music can be here to help you
The artwork is BIG MOOD.
All of these kind of like a hallucination and played all together.
you're getting me through midterms!! I always come back to this playlist.
Living in the city in a nice apartment is all I want 🙁❤
yes! Another album that I love from the first song.
Kind of crazy how I listened to this the summer after I graduated hs…it’s been 6 years and all I wish for is to go back to those summer nights with my best friends. Asia, Anthony, John, Leqi, Mark, Michael. Miss you guys.
May your day be as bright and beautiful as the melodies in this Lofi track! Stay positive and enjoy the moment.
@@CityGirlMusic another one here city girl, your album just transport me to a magic world everyday, keep doing it!
It is home.
A perfect track for a relaxing evening.🌷
I can't believe the album is so famous, I totally forgot about her
I remember listening to the whole album while studying and now she has 3 million+ views
Thats amazing! Congrats
I keep coming back to this video and to see the view amount increasing everytime is actually kind of heart pounding. And you're almost at 1 million views you deserve it and more!
thank you for the continued support!
It's amazing how powerful this is without any sort of lyrics or anything besides her description to interpret it.
magnificently mellow mood music melts my mind
Oh my gosh... how can it be possible god damn so charming songs existing? I can't believe that I found it a year later than released!
This album cures my anxiety and I'm like gonna' cry I love it-
この曲とイラストがマッチしすぎて好き。

Happy 5 year anniversary of such an excellent album City Girl! I can't begin to tell you how many times your music has been a magical part of the soundtrack of my life, and I just appreciate you art so much🤍
sitting on your porch while it’s drizzling lightly while sipping some earl tea grey and listening to this is really beautiful :)
Legit how cool the timeline looks I'm living
I love this album so much, it always relaxes me
This album rules! Thank you so much for the good vibes and helping me smile while i work. I'm excited to see what you make in the future
Anyone else hype for the vinyl?? Cause I can hardly wait. Love the music, keep it up😁😁👍👍
The story of City Girl is enchanting... why can't this kind of stuff be in my recommendation list? Nice work really, great music!
