Since you're getting into DVDs more, here is a tip: look for National Geographic DVDs. A lot of them aren't worth anything, but there are some out there that can fetch $15-$25 or more. The best part is they all have yellow spines, so they're easy to spot.
Most of the people who comment that you are wasting your time are also posting on some resale forum how eBay is dead and they barely have any sales. Not everything can be a home run, but singles and doubles turn into points as well!

I like when people who are doing nothing try to tell you something you sold wasnt worth it. If its between doing nothing for 5 minutes or listing a dvd you make $3 on in 5 minutes wouldnt you rather gain money than pick your nose n criticise others for $0? Of course if you are making $30 an hour doing something else every minute of the day then yea its not worth it but if its between going to Walmart and staring at people for 0 or doing a 5 min listing to make $3 ill take the 3. I just hate how people act like doing nothing is better than making any amount of money.

One of our favorite scores ever was at a Hospice thrift of heavy metal/death metal etc. Cd's in mint condition. We got hundreds I can't recall what we spent but we made a deal with them cause we were buying so many. Then we sold a couple right out the gate that paid for them all by the 3rd/4th we were WELL into profit. We have sold most (this was like a year ago) we have like 30 left from that buy that are listed that weren't the metal but just weird ones we hadn't heard of personally like "Boards of Canada" sold most of those no clue who they are lol but think there's some left. Come to think of it I think we still have probably about 20 roaming around that still need to be listed lol. ANYWAYS point being large media lots make up pretty much all my favorite bulk buys. That CD bulk buy, then a yard sale where we got hundreds of DVD movies for less than 25 cents each all in like new condition with their sleeves and all (on ones that had them) inserts etc. My son's super hero DVD collection literally was made at that yard sale and Ive made lots like "vacation themed horror lot" "alien themed sci fi" and specific lots like that they sold pretty good that way. Then I once filled my entire car barely had room to sit and drive FULL of books from a church sale that paid like $5 for ALL of them. I had to shove them in all over my car. That was many years ago and was selling books on Amazon. Had book shelves in alphabetical order in garage lol. Just 1 kids origami like 5 pages in book part of a set and it sold for like $70something so JUST THAT BOOK BOOM got the 5bucks back and way into profit. Ok ok rambling again lol But bulk media can make some nice profits 😃
I don't know about where you live, but many cities have buy/sell/trade stores for media and books. If you have a place like that, you could cash the DVDs in, or get store credit that's higher than the cash back and get items that are better sellers or something for yourself.

I love it when someone makes money in a way that most people would turn down. This is how I make my money; selling stuff that most people considers dead. Personally, I've made a few thousand selling audio cassettes, mostly underground music home releases from the 90s and 80s.
Couldn't agree more. I've now sold two sets of Friends Seasons 1-10 DVDs for $35+ in profit. That's where the arbitrage is - you find such great stuff from people who don't think it's worth it. Shoot I hope more and more people think that way I'll scoop 'em up and put in the hustle for the extra cash and fun along the way!

DVDs are DEFINITELY worth it if you can find the rare OOP ones that are not available in any other form of media. I've sold the combined 1st & 2nd seasons of The Most Extreme Elimination Challenge for $75 and just one volume of War and Remembrance for $65 (it's a 2 volume set). You've just got to know what to look for - usually it's the bizarre and unusual things that you've never heard of before. Volume 10 of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (with Godzilla on the cover) is worth WELL over $100. Also, it's usually at least worth it to look stuff up if it's still sealed. Sealed Season 6 of Lost can still sell for $30, and sealed Season 6 of Nip/Tuck can still get you $20 even though you might think these shows are widely popular and likely worthless. Moonlighting TV seasons are ones that should ALWAYS be an automatic buy if the price is right. And even some super rare Godzilla single DVD movies can sell well into the hundreds.

Yeah, anyone who would tell you not to sell DVDs doesn't know what they're talking about. Some of them go for $10 or more on their own, and they're super cheap to ship, so you can literally just put it up in minutes and make money, spend next to nothing to ship it, and make a lot of money over investment. If they won't sell for much on their own, you can always lot them up and sell them for anywhere from $1-$3 a piece depending on how you do the lots. It helps if you know a lot about physical media, but I don't think it would take much time to learn about it, so it's not like the time investment is significant, either.

The ones that say its not worth it make no money on ebay! I make more smaller sales on this line of stuff than Too dollar items! Sell 1 item for 100 or 10 for 100 or more. Dvds and boxsets are great when you can get them for pennies on the dollar but it works!
You are a nice guy, hard worker and trying to do a good service with your vids, but you have to factor in time and any overhead such as ebay store and that final thirty cents you mentioned. Gas to the post office, mailers for the multi discs. So average how much time to sort, check quality, take pics, write description, post. Then figure out how much you are making per hour to see if it is worth it. Keep working hard, just make sure you calculate appropriately. Don't forget business overhead, taxes, accountant possibly, storage shed. You might invest in some good project management software to help you.
But if your already selling online and already have supplies, already have storage space, it was on his way so no extra gas, only thing I see is time listing and packing... which they are quick lists, and easy to ship. Your already shipping your other stuff takes only seconds to pop disks into a mailer. I can see where this would not be a great business model if your starting up and going to just do these but adding them to an already ongoing business I think is smart, on ebay whenever I add more to my store the activity gets everything going better , and these are great feedback boosters too As somebody else mentioned in comments. I have listed cds dvds etc. They are so simple to add in that I know it's worth it to me. Like I might not feel like setting all up in evening to really work on listings but I can easy throw up 10 music cds or DVD movies while watching tv. That's making money I wouldn't have otherwise made as I just am relaxing doing minimal work in relaxing time. So every few bucks I make is bonus :)

How I wish those stores over here in the Netherlands would be as big as the once over there in the States. I remember one yard sale where this lady just said take all the movies because she was gonna donate everything and I was surprised how fast movies moved, I also don't recommend using media mail many of my packages have been lost

I really like the fact that suppliers are already pre-screened and I don’t have to go through the run around of figuring out if these people are legitimate. Buying in bulk is worth it. You should check out second spin, they can offer more than decluttr, or take them to a dvd/video game store. I am able to sell video games with media mail, but maybe certain states don't allow you to. Love your vids, you give great tips

Thought you are doing well with your earnings. Question: Do you need to test to make sure all of the DVD's are working properly before you list and sell?
Let the haters hate my man. I sell tons of DVDs and even VHS. I bought about 1800 DVDs/Blu Rays for $200. I actually used the Decluttr app to separate them. If Decluttr is paying anything it goes in a pile. 25 cents or more a different pile. $1 another. $2 and up another. Sealed DVDs/BRs another. Then I sold the $1-2 DVDs individually. The 25-50 Cents ones in packs of 5-10 for $15-30. Then the ones getting a nickel sold in boxes of 20 for $30. That leaves the ones Decluttr didn't want. I sell those in packs of 20 for $20. From 11 Blu Rays I made my initial $200 back. What's crazier is I pick up VHS for absolutely nothing so often. I'll lot them in packs of 5 and sell for $12 shipped. Sometimes individual titles will sell for $10-50 before. The people who say it's not worth it are the ones who probably aren't very good at listing to start with. I'll always buy bulk media. Always. Keep it up. If you sell games, I actually am launching a video game exclusively marketplace. Think eBay but a fraction of fees and all gamers so stuff is taken care of. with declutter do you need to have the cd, DVD case? for books do they take books that have been really used e.g. book cover torn or with tea spills etc.
I live in Canada and endure the high cost of Canada Post and I'd buy lots like that daily if I could. I wish I had the luxury of Flat rates, media mail and plain low cost of shipping that the U.S. Post offers you. Add the $$$ you make from youtube vids to offset costs and it's all gravy. I sell a lot of used dvds and take pictures of front, back, inside and even closeup of words on back. I wrap videos in bubble wrap and put in tyvek envelope I got cheap off a ebay seller.
DVDs are a great hustle, legit found some that are worth more than I could’ve imagined. Ie look up “Dutch” with Ted O’Neil worth a lot more than anyone would think.

I have a ton of DVD’s that I handpicked new in shrink wrap from thrift stores $1-2 each and some sold and many are just sitting there in my EBay store. Taking up space :(
Jonathan Schmidt I signed up a few months ago and started with a five item selling limit. You list your 5 items first and then call customer service and they will do an interview to make sure you are who you say you are (they confirm public records only you would know). Then they will increase your limits probably to 100. From there, you will get automatic increases when you get sales and your listings grow. You don’t have to have a store to get selling limit increases. My limits didn’t increase when I got a basic store, but they did each time I got a lot of sales real close together and shipped them out on time. They care the most about sales. Your sales make them money, so they increase your selling limits when you do a good job with what you have already been given.

Enjoyed your RUclips posts A LOT! I also like to go to thrift shops but for personal interest. And my two daughter love to buy clothes there because they often find some great stuff over there. How I wish those stores over here in the Netherlands would be as big as the once over there in the States. My oldest daughter always says "once I will go to America and shop in those big thrift stores..."

The smaller price point dvds that are similar in genre/actor/franchise do well for me when I bundle them together.

I remember one yard sale where this lady just said take all the movies because she was gonna donate everything and I was surprised how fast movies moved, I also don't recommend using media mail many of my packages have been lost

I’ve found great suppliers that I’ve been working with. I really like the fact that suppliers are already pre-screened and I don’t have to go through the run around of figuring out if these people are legitimate. Buying in bulk is worth it. You should check out second spin, they can offer more than decluttr, or take them to a dvd/video game store. I am able to sell video games with media mail, but maybe certain states don't allow you to. Love your vids, you give great tips

Let the haters hate my man. I sell tons of DVDs and even VHS.
I bought about 1800 DVDs/Blu Rays for $200. I actually used the Decluttr app to separate them. If Decluttr is paying anything it goes in a pile. 25 cents or more a different pile. $1 another. $2 and up another. Sealed DVDs/BRs another. Then I sold the $1-2 DVDs individually. The 25-50 Cents ones in packs of 5-10 for $15-30. Then the ones getting a nickel sold in boxes of 20 for $30. That leaves the ones Decluttr didn't want. I sell those in packs of 20 for $20. From 11 Blu Rays I made my initial $200 back.
What's crazier is I pick up VHS for absolutely nothing so often. I'll lot them in packs of 5 and sell for $12 shipped. Sometimes individual titles will sell for $10-50 before. The people who say it's not worth it are the ones who probably aren't very good at listing to start with.
I'll always buy bulk media. Always. Keep it up.

Dollar Tree sells bubble wrap mailers two a pack. Small, and medium. That's .50 cents. Each.
The larger ones for shirts, or pants are $1.00 a piece.

with declutter do you need to have the cd, DVD case? for books do they take books that have been really used e.g. book cover torn or with tea spills etc.

I live in Canada and endure the high cost of Canada Post and I'd buy lots like that daily if I could. I wish I had the luxury of Flat rates, media mail and plain low cost of shipping that the U.S. Post offers you. Add the $$$ you make from youtube vids to offset costs and it's all gravy. To hell with the haters, more dvds for the rest of us to flip.
So, you offer free shipping on all your dvds? Could you charge shipping to cover some of your fees or do you choose free shipping to compete with others for the lowest posted price? It just wouldn't seem worth it to list a dvd at $3.99 with free shipping to undercut another seller with same dvd listed at $4.00 with free shipping. Lotta work for little return. Or do you not list those dvds if you cant make a return of a buck or two? Just wondering. I did pretty well selling dvds at $2 ea. at a local convention. Not worth listing on Ebay, but good for the convention or garage sale. No fees, no shipping. Straight up profit.
I sell a lot of used dvds and take pictures of front, back, inside and even closeup of words on back. I wrap videos in bubble wrap and put in tyvek envelope I got cheap off a ebay seller.

Sounds good to me. Plus, all of your expenses (gas, shipping material, etc.) are tax-deductible business expenses anyway.

DVDs are a great hustle, legit found some that are worth more than I could’ve imagined. Ie look up “Dutch” with Ted O’Neil worth a lot more than anyone would think.

I dont follow your model at all, but you definitely turned me on to looking at books and DVDs for sourcing. If I have time to kill and the store is picked clean I'll go look at them.

I have a ton of DVD’s that I handpicked new in shrink wrap from thrift stores $1-2 each and some sold and many are just sitting there in my EBay store. Taking up space :(

yes I did, but I eventually purchased a store subscription and now I believe its 1 or 2000 listings per month for free or something like that.
Jonathan Schmidt I signed up a few months ago and started with a five item selling limit. You list your 5 items first and then call customer service and they will do an interview to make sure you are who you say you are (they confirm public records only you would know). Then they will increase your limits probably to 100. From there, you will get automatic increases when you get sales and your listings grow. You don’t have to have a store to get selling limit increases. My limits didn’t increase when I got a basic store, but they did each time I got a lot of sales real close together and shipped them out on time. They care the most about sales. Your sales make them money, so they increase your selling limits when you do a good job with what you have already been given.
