    Hi Ashley. I'm enjoying your videos but my experience with ebay has not been to great so far. I'm hoping you can help me understand how to move past this and actually sell stuff.
    I've been researching reselling on ebay for a while and I was looking forward to making some extra cash. I started by just selling things around my house. The first item I listed started a bid war and reached all the way up to $510. After which I thought there may be something to this. I did some garage sale shopping and searched completed listings on ebay to see what sold and listed them all. Spent about $30, and had about $300 worth of value according to ebay's past sold items.
    In a week, the $500 bid turned out to be a scam, and literally all of my other items are receiving 0 bids or offers. I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong and how I can fix this because I'm honestly really discouraged now.

      Andy Sampson you put that someone else made it. You are allowed to sell products that aren’t handmade as long as they are vintage. Vintage is defined as being made in the 1990s or earlier. So just don’t post any items that aren’t vintage unless you handmade the item yourself.

    Lets look at this in more detail: Lets say you average 57% in net take-home. Does that include income taxes? If you still need to take out taxes you would have 15% right off the top for self employment tax. and lets say your income tax is 20%
    $5700 x .57 = $3249 net
    $3249 - 15% = $2762 after self employment tax
    $2762 - 20% = $2209 after income tax
    $2209 would be actual spending money for the month.
    Is that pretty close?

    Great video as always, thanks. The part about making money on shipping, is really a no no in my opinion however. Eventually people will catch on to the high shipping cost and give you a low star rating for shipping. I mean if you want to charge handling, ok. But to almost double the cost of shipping, is kind of deceitful in my opinion. Usually love your videos, but this put me off.

      Sandra Bentley thanks for your comment! So I have a listing template set to charge $10 flat for shoes. For the most part, this is really accurate and covers my costs - often it’s not even enough, especially if I’m shipping boots! So the times when the shipping cost earns me a few dollars helps make up for those other times. Hope that makes sense :) also, I have five stars across the board in each area, and I have had only one buyer complain about shipping after thousands of transactions. For now, shipping seems to be cruising along okay! ❤️

      @@HustleatHomeMom thanks for your response. I understand whag your saying regarding shoes. What bothered me was when you commented that shipping was $5 but you charged $10 and that it was ok to make money off shipping. That just bothers me, because many sellers do that. I am a seller and I am very conscious of not over charging for shipping, my customers appreciate it. So thanks once again for your channel and information.

    I was just wondering how you shipped the hat, you mention First Class but I don't think it can go in a polybag or it will get crushed so I would love to know how you shipped it, thank you

      I've sold some hats that were so light that I could put them in a box and still be within the first class shipping weight of 16 ounces.

    Question- if you find clothes from goodwill with the tags, do you take off the tags to wash them or leave the tags on and sell as is?

    • @PopularMonsterUSA

      If you take the tag off and wash the item is no longer new with tags. Don’t remove the tags.

    I noticed that your shipping charges seem to be a flat even dollar amount. Instead of doing calculated shipping do you just charge a set amount?

    Ashley, do you have a 2nd eBay store? When I look up a lot of your "sold items" in your cleanandcrisp store, it doesn't show most of these items under your solds and when I search eBay solds for them, they don't show there either. I'm a bit confused.

      Citizen Styles when you list items as “multi quantity,” the solds will not show up. 🙏🏻

    Ashley, do you believe that charging shipping fees reduces traffic to your items? I was always under the impression that you get more traffic to your store/items if you offer Free Shipping. Have you experimented or have always charged shipping. I honestly don't know which way works best. Just curious on your thoughts and keep up the greats vids, always very informative.😊

    • @HustleatHomeMom
      @HustleatHomeMom  5 лет назад +1

      I have actually experimented with both, but I did not notice a reduction in sales at all once I started charging shipping again. In the realm of used clothing, since so many items are one-offs, you can get away with charging shipping. But if you’re selling brand new items or NWT items or wholesale, offering free shipping probably makes more sense based on your competition. Just my $.02!! 🙏🏻❤️

      Thanks, your 2 cents makes sense. 😀 I currently offer Free Shipping on most all my items but have been contemplating starting to charge a shipping fee as sometimes it seems my profit is not as large as I would like since I include the shipping in the price. Then you're in that place where you think you're charging too much for an item even though shipping is included. An experiment is probably in order. Thanks again!

    • @HustleatHomeMom
      @HustleatHomeMom  5 лет назад +1

      Yes exactly! The buyer will pay more on their end. This is of course if you've opted into the "global shipping program" specifically :)
