Don't shoot me 4 saying this, but I've been analyzing nurse burn out. Much of it is real, but I find that many people don't have the mental capacity 2 handle nursing. I've only been n nursing 4 years, but it seems like nursing has always been short. I remember nurses working 8 hr shifts 5 days a week b4 they moved to 12hrs. Oftentimes, they'd do 16hrs bc some1 called out. I hate 2 say it, but many of 2days nurses r not prepared 4 any1s workforce. They think nursing is going 2 b easy. I always wanted 2 b a nurse, so being here I accept the complexities that come with it 2 an extent. There r things n nursing that need 2 change. Nurse 2 patient ratios r 1 of them; pay is another. N my humble opinion, nurses r highly underpaid 4 the responsibility given. The money is there, just not 4 nurses. I don't believe covid itself singly burned nurses out. Covid shed light on some of the harsh realities of nursing.

I agree that many graduate and then realize what the job entails and they look for the exit door

@@DrWilliamMartinPhD Reality is, nursing school can't possibly prepare nurses 4 everything n the field. It'sjust unrealistic. I usually encourage student nurses 2 b objective, open minded, & willing 2 learn. Over time, u will grow. It's a process. People want 2 skip the process.
