  • Part 1 of the Satpura Narrow Gauge Expedition carried out in the monsoon of 2015. This part covers the 148km journey from Nagpur to Chhindwara on the 58839 Nagpur - Jabalpur Fast Passenger.
The NGP-JBP Fast Passenger was India's longest running Narrow Gauge train covering a distance of 398km from Nagpur to Jabalpur in 19.5 hours.
The Satpura Narrow Gauge lines were inaugurated in the early 1900s and together comprised the largest Narrow Gauge network in the Indian subcontinent. This network is now consigned to history after its conversion to Broad Gauge.

My doubt is, were both the engines energized, or is the lead one simply towing a spare engine to a major station in need? As the engines are diesel - hydraulic, I'm interested to know how they can MU two engines.

Only one loco was energized. The other was being ferried to Chhindwara.

@@DMGGaming The max speed was 45km/hr.. NG loco has the max speed of 50km/hr, once Satpura express used to touch 50km/hr, then later got restricted to 45km/hr

This is meter gauge line, not narrow gauge.

It is Narrow Gauge, not Meter Gauge. Please do your research. Thanks.
