- It has been a few weeks since we've moved into our new place - but it took me so long to get my craft room set up! Along the way it felt like I often took one step forward and two steps back - but I eventually made it to the finish!

Engineering knits is a place for people who enjoy all kinds of vintage and antique crafts - from sewing to knitting, crochet to embroidery I like to try it all. I definitely have a preference for historical fibre crafts, and it is my dream to one day make an entire outfit from sheep to sweater. I hope you enjoy watching me and my favorite companion, Nutella, struggle through some fascinating projects!
The wallpapered pegboard is so cute! What a cool idea.
yeah thats such a great hack! I like the utilitarian character of the pegboard but always disliked the look. This is something else!
What a great space! I want to encourage you to get a few things like museum putty and some specialty hanger for your lovely clocks and antique pieces on the wall, maybe even a little barrier like a painted dowel across your bookshelves. Those are the kinds of things that get more easily rattled free in earthquake country. (I know you are an engineer so you may already be aware, but from personal experience, I would hate for any of those things to fall in a little rattle and roller!)
Omg okay yeah you had me at "maximum functionality" 😂 we are cut from the same cloth!
is that James Turner, formally known as The Sims Supply?! XD
I just stumbled on this video and started watching randomly and I legit yelled "OMG, James Turner!!" when I saw that. 🤣
I came on here to comment that! Love the James Turner Let's Plays. Fun to guess which one. If watching when they came out definitely High School Years either with Reginald or the kids (so HS Years/Dine Out) haha. Yup I watch a ton of James Turner and Deligracy.
There's nothing quite like the feel of having a beautiful, functional space!
But my favourite part is still Nutella.
My crafting room is ALSO (eventually) going to be my work from home space, and I'm definitely taking some inspiration from how you're setting up this room! Thank you for sharing!
Working in a not-set-up workspace stress is... intensely relatable. I'm currently working in the living room using our kitchen table 😅😅😅
I love your new space! Its very similar to what I’m creating… i can hardly wait to finish mine! Your peg board is so pretty… love the idea and result! Thank you for sharing your process an result. ❤
Excellent job! It turned out to be quite welcoming and cozy. And your craft partner (the pooch) is precious! Those wistful eyes! ❤
ooh now I want a William Morris esque pegbord thingy
I moved a 1-1/2 years ago and I still have yarn and fabric in boxes. Your room is adorable and I would love to sit in that chair with a coffee and shower you with affirmation as you craft away!
Hint for next move, put screws and fasteners in Ziploc bag and tape to furniture
7:45 , oh, I know that feeling alllll too well! “Why don’t you just fit immediately?!”
The end result is very cozy.
Looks great!! BTW, Lovely sweater!
Love the pink sweater
Love the room! Makes me wish I had a craft room to organize and decorate. Instead I have the white cubby bookcase thing that you have in your closet (6 cubes) and a sturdy tall basket that houses many WIPs
Very inspiring... my craft-room is huge and always to total wreak of a horror. I think I will start working on it... organize it better.
Your room looks charming, and so does the patio! All the plants!;
That's a lovely space
Well done! It looks great, full of character.
P.S. You know the dog has claimed that chair don't you? :)
Love all the Nutella content also.
That looks wonderful! A crafter deserves a well-appointed room, and I reeeeeeeeally want that peg board....
Nutella is a beautiful little lady!
I am also currently reorganizing my crafting space so this really helped further motivate me. I bought two huge pegboards but I am hanging my yarn cakes on them to free up space and it seconds as decor! I cannot wait for it to be functional again!! Congratulations on the new home and I very much look forward to your upcoming projects!
It's AWESOME! Inspirational to me (I HAVE to do this, my craft room is a MESS)!!!💛 Thanks for posting💛
The pegboard came out gorgeous. And your craft room is fantastic
It’s so much fun watching you figure this out. I don’t feel so alone. 🤦🏻♀️🤣🤣
What a beautiful end result! The corner with your reading chair looks especially cozy, and I love the old clock... I would love to have one of those at some point... And it is indeed very satisfying to see the before and after together in the video :)
You did a wonderful job of organizing your room and closet. Such a happy place for sure.....
👏👏👏👏👏👏 It looks so cozy and serene 🤩
What a sweet little room! I particularly love the little table next to your armchair. Perfect for a cozy cup of something!
Organization is key but TBH IMO Nutella is the best! 🐶❤
Awesome room! Knitting machine covers for the work computer monitors could be a good touch so that area of the room is a bit cozier while you craft.
It looks great! The pegboard idea is fabulous, I always decided not to get one because I did not like the look of it... one of my greatest wishes is to have a craft room one day!
Absolutely love what you did with the peg board. I wish I could get my space as organised as this.
Well done! What a gorgeous space you now have. Lovely!
James Turner! Do you Sim too?
Yay for a dedicated dye pot! I love the way the pegboard turned out, too. As a fellow wrist strain/ carpal tunnel sufferer, I have a burning need to know where you got the pretty pink braces. I can only seem to find boring black or 'nude'.
And nose boops for Nutella!
This must be so satisfying!
Hi Maike! Can you please share the pattern name of the lovely sweater you're wearing? 😍
I love how your crafting room turned out! Thank you for sharing!❤
It looks great! Love the peg board idea.
It’s just so awesome! I love it! Also so awesome to see you guys again. Nutella is so beautiful.
Nice work!
So lovely! -- Are there holes punched in the wallpaper on the pegboard to accomodate the pegs?
I always find it interesting how other people organise spaces - although the verandah and cupboard space are blessings, it is tricky with 3 doors in one room!
What is the metal item above the pin tray on your craft desk at 13:18?
Fabulous room
It looks so pretty 😍 Nutella is adorable as ever too 😍
Build bookshelves on the wall? It can go all around the room at eye level?
This looks fab! Was that wallpaper sticky-back? I've never seen that before ...
So pretty!
What was the room layout software you used to plan your layout?
TELL US pleeaassee 😊😊😊
I wish I could work from home, but I work at Walmart 😅
Alright I have been watching you for a while now but I need to know if you knitted your pink jumper/pullover? And, if you did, what pattern did you use? Love the content of your channel too BTW!!
hello what is the room layout software called? its seems very useful
Anyone able to read the name in the antique cross stitch?
😀
Full time job.. half of the week? Or do you mean half is from home?
Is it just me or are the links not working?
I love, love, love your idea for the peg board!
