Rachel, I hope you put a separating sheet between the foam over mattress and the fabric. Foam is tacky and rough-surfaced and it will eat the fabric when you move on the mattress. Putting a second sheet allows the top sheet to move freely and not get sanded by the foam. This is why when upholstering they put cheap fabric down before the main fabric.

Just so you know, my husband was a contractor, is now an architect, and still laughs at the word caulking. Yesterday he came home giggling because his boss told him to 'carefully plan the penetration points'. Giggled. For hours.
Every set crew I've worked on has constantly laughed at the word caulking. Hell, one of my directors tried to ban us from saying it at one point. Tried being the operative word
My wife and I just bought an old, Victorian era house and your channel has been a huge source of inspiration for us! It needs extensive aesthetic renovations (luckily the bones are GREAT for being 128 years old), so we have plenty of opportunity to add whimsy. Thank you for being my own whimsical fairy godmother!
if you have Max, or even just want to Google about them, look up 'Happy to Be Home' show. they reno old homes and have a whimsical funky style that breathes new life into older houses while also respecting the history.
@@BuffyNTinkDidImprov I've thought about it! It's been a lot of work so far and I've been too tired to film, lol. It was also a hoarder house before we got to it, so initially the interior was...bad. And I didn't want to subject others to that haha. But now that we've cleared out and cleaned up a lot of the worst of it, I'll give it more serious consideration! I'll let you know if I do post anything :)
I love how this renovation came out. Stop selling yourself short. You have amazing crafting abilities. Your pillow turned out really cute. I loved your thunderstorm break.
hi, just wanted to say to Rachel that once I started calling myself a "silly goose" instead of "dumb" or "stupid" or anything else like that, I subtly became happier. sometimes we need to treat ourselves like a toddler. it's the little things.
I don't typically comment (I know. Bad subscriber.) but Rachel, I hope it helps to know that watching your videos has pulled me out of a multi-year creative slump. My 20's was one long depression hole, and went from painting every day to not at all. I found your channel a few months ago and have started painting again, and have learned to use my sewing machine and have successfully hemmed several pairs of pants and flipped a dress that looked like sheeit (it still looks like sheeit, but different sheeit lol). A huge part of why I love your videos is the fine line you tap-dance between perfectionism and half-assing it. I think a lot of us identity with that mentality, and the self-awareness that comes with it. I have a little post-it note that says half-ass is better than no-ass. When I'm struggling (which is often) and can't bear the idea of even brushing my teeth, my little half-ass post-it saves me from being a no-ass. And let's be real, half-assing is way funnier than whole-assing. Haha. Virtual bear hugs from a 30-something ADHD lady.
This comment is relatable to so many more people than you could imagine, I count in that bunch 💯 Also stealing your post it trick! I feel it’s genius for the low-ass days 😅 thank you for sharing!
Was just going to make a similar comment. I live with and am the caregiver for my mother who has dementia. Our house is not in the best shape, so between that and my mothers mind being pretty much gone things can get downright depressing. I used to draw and create art every day too, but pretty much stopped over the past 5 or so years... But it's always a joy to watch Rachel's videos, and while I have been struggling to try and sort out the house I only just realized that hey... Why just sort out/clean and tidy it? Why not work on making it into something I'll actually like and enjoy? Seeing Rachel put all these personal touches on her own house is inspiring and makes me think that maybe I could try that too. And in more direct relation to your comment: I really like that half-ass is better than no-ass motto, I might try and apply it to seeing if I can actually squeeze out some creativity.
@MiniJenJen I’m sending so much support your way! Your comment was so relatable, and I’m so excited for you and the things you have been able to do recently. Hooray for realizing-and practicing-the “half-ass is better than no-ass” philosophy!
Oof, that "feeling not great about myself right now but I'm going to push through anyways and force-feed myself the good vibes until I believe it to be true" is EXTREMELY relatable, especially as a creative person. Keep on fighting the good fight Rachel, and curl up in your cute lil reading nook
I remember reading that perfection in crafts was an affront to the crafty spirits! your board isn't asymetrical, it's whimsical! I hope you and your family find sunnier, happier times soon. Prayers for your family members who are ill!
Absolutely! The Mona Lisa is not symmetrical and it's the Mona Lisa! What are my wonky projects doing, trying to be better than a literal masterpiece? no, sir
there’s a superstition in knitting that if you don’t leave a mistake in your project, spirits will get stuck in there. you have to have a fuck up in there somewhere or you’ll get cursed or something :)
My daughter had a toy magic mirror that said lovely things when its button was pushed. One evening after a long/painful/exhausting/frustrating/stinky day, I sat down on the sofa. The mirror was tucked into the cushions. So, a sweet voice said, "You are so pretty." After I got my act back together because I almost had a heart attack, I dug it out and pushed the button again. "I like you." "You make me feel happy." Etc. It said such nice things. At that point in our lives more days were bad than were just okay. Good days were very rare. I may have tucked that mirror on a shelf so I could just sit and push that button and listen to an electronic voice tell me good things. I have looked on the internet to see if I can possibly find one of them again. They are mega expensive. Yet, even just the memory of those affirmations gives me joy. I know it is not realistic/smart/sane, but it really helped. Affirmations.
although perhaps not a mirror I do know there are toys out there with record and talk features. If you don't want to record your own voice you can always play videos that have what you want to hear and record them into the toy device
My sister sent me a little Mister Rogers and trolley bust that has a positive quote from whenever you press the trolley sign. I'm an almost 40 year old man but I still enjoy being able to press it and hear some positive advice. "Taking care is one way to show your love. Another way is letting people take care of you when you need it."
That’s exactly why we give such toys to kids, to teach them self worth from the start. Sometimes we forget how hard it is just to do the bare minimum, and it’s even easier to forget what the hard work is worth if the payout isn’t immediate.
Commenting to tell you the following: - your projects are delightful. Stuff not coming out perfectly? That's a feature, not a bug. It makes your work accessible. Channels where the finished project is *perfect* are really intimidating to me, and actually turn off my creative drive, because I know mine will never turn out that way. Listen, with your content, you're not fooling us. We're not missing the little mess-up bits. We just know we'll have those mess-ups, too, and if you're brave enough to post that on RUclips, if your projects can have mess ups and still look this amazing, then I can make projects, too! It genuinely helps so much that not all of your projects come out picture perfect! And with full truth, all the way from my toes, I want to tell you that your home, your wardrobe, everything you've made, is SUCH a vibe, you're truly living in the midst of aesthetics I (in my rented apartment) can only dream of. You really are Doing The Thing, even if it doesn't always feel like it. - personality/jokes/content: omfg you're so funny. You're so relatable. I want to be your friend but you're too cool for me. The hot dog bit SENT me 😂 I woke my husband up giggling at it. The stunt attempts, the jokes, the editing, goblin mode... 15/10. I go back and rewatch your videos when I need inspiration, giggles, a buddy to get me through the day, really just when I need to be picked up, your videos are there for me. We all go through it. Mental health wise and life situation wise, I'm in the best place I've ever been in my life right now... and I'm still struggling. House is a mess. Dealing with medical stuff and family stuff. It happens to us all. So what I'm hoping you take away from this, if you read this ADHD word vomit of a comment, is that you're not alone, and it's okay. You really are doing great. Your projects are good, and no, you're not fooling me into saying that, I see the lumps and bumps and love your projects WITH those parts included. Your personality is glorious. You're the whole package, lady, and you're awesome. Now please excuse me while I add this video to the playlist of projects for my future house. That playlist is 70% your videos. So thank you in advance for what my house is going to look like in a few years 😂❤
When I was stationed in Afghanistan, I had an alcove bed made in my stall in the group hut, and it was so awesome! It provided extra privacy, extra sound proofing, and made me feel special and safe. I still think of it fondly :)
Just like your inspirational little muscle man, my mom taped a picture of Wonder Woman on her mirror while she was recovering from brain surgery and the following depression. She remembered to keep her head up, and do the pose for as long as she could; keep looking at your little muscle man, and keep flexing your own!!! You got this, and we love you (:
Dear Rachel, as someone who used to work at the Orange Home Improvement Store™️, thank you for checking the storage capabilities of your car before going to the store. The amount of people who would buy a grill or something else gigantic and then look at me like I was supposed to bend the laws of physics to fit it into their 2 door car- well, the number is far more than I care to recount. So on behalf of Home Improvement Retail Workers everywhere; thank you for having foresight and (not so) common sense.
The day that Rachel teaches herself 3D modeling in Blender, vector design with Inkscape, and buys herself a 3D printer (two words: wood filament) and laser cutter is the day that she will become unstoppable.
A collaboration with Simone Giertz or Nerdforge would be unimaginably powerful. 😳 But seriously, I think about Rachel's choice to use foam because she said she couldn't cut straight lines in wood, and her drawing the shape in a program like Inkscape and cutting it out of wood on a CNC machine or similar would've given her something perfect and longer-lasting. Hence, Rachel using these tools to take her creativity to new levels would make her unstoppable. She's already got the art chops!
I kinda love she doesn't use machines and computers like that. It is wholesome to see someone use real materials, find practical solutions and not go for 'perfect'. Also in ways us normal folk who don't have access to 3d printers and laser cutters, could replicate. When I do a project myself I find myself using a phrase I learned from Rachel a lot: "It's fine.'
When you feel self doubt, just remember you do power through your projects and you do complete them. Most of us wouldn’t even bother starting anything in the first place “hi, I’m the problem it’s me” and you have inspired so sooooo many of us into diving into our interests more. You’re super relatable and hilarious and so it’s nice to see someone else openly just be their chaotic unhinged lil gremlins. I know for one, I’m more genuinely myself because of you. The hot dog had me cackling bc same, same. Its perfect! And there’s never too many pillows
Rachel, my darling girl… we adore you. You’re fun, you’re genuine, you’re human. What’s not to like. I feel you as I’m going through a bout of depression myself… so let me give you a big warm soothing hug 🫂 ❤
Long time viewer, first time commenter. Wanted to drop it to say you being on the internet made me realize there are other women out there like me. I am sure it can be exhausting to put yourself out there. You take care of you! Grateful for you!
Same! Been watching for years... The first time my husband saw her videos he went "I thought you were watching this for the content, Like you wanted to make something like that. But I just realized she talks exactly like you. This is trippy."
I feel like an easy way to get a much more permanent version of this would be to thrift some old furniture parts. an old headrest would probably work really well here and only require cutting to size
I don't know why I'm still joyfully surprised but I WAS surprised how Rachel could come up with yet another project that directly answered my current or childhood dreams and needs. LOVE how the alcove turned out!! Looks so cozy, too! In fact, your videos are an alcove bed in many of my days, where I can just be cozy and warm and hidden. I love it.
I vote woodworking side quest! It always feels so much more intimidating like the free weight section at the gym but especially if you're using hand tools, ain't nothing other than another craft. Plus sawdust could add to the fake snow/confetti razzmatazz
Rachel, you have been such an inspiration to me. After finding your channel 2 years ago, you have helped me learn that perfectionism doesn't have to control one's self. You have also helped me learn to give myself grace and love yourself even if you mess up. To have fun and enjoy yourself through the creative process of a project. As a fellow artist, thank you. You remind me that I am not alone in feeling self doubt and perfectionism. Reading all these comments has also shown me that we don't have to strive to be perfect, but to enjoy the process and do the best we can! You are so talented, lovely, and funny! Thank you for showing us the real you, because we desperately need it!!
13:30 - Your "B-roll" of nature, window panes, etc. is always SO beautiful! Obviously the activities of our beloved red-headed craft goblin are the main attraction, but those transitions and nature scenes are such a nice touch, and always SO well done! I don't know if anyone compliments you on that part very often, but know that it is appreciated!
rachel!!! you said you were struggling with self doubt so i just want to let you know that my mom doesn’t really like watching my crafty youtube videos with me but she LOVES you and she always asks if you have a new video because we’ve watched literally all of them. keep doing what you’re doing!!! we love you 💕💕
Same story with me and my mom 😅 She started watching Rachel with me when I was put on bed rest and she ended up really liking her content! She even subscribed when Rachel was aiming for a million 🥰
Same with my daughter and I! We started watching Rachel together here at home a few years back. Now she lives all the way across the country and as soon as one of text the other: "Rachel posted!" We watch together, texting eachother throughout the video. We watch because we love her and can relate. ❤
Bro for a split second I thought you made crafty videos that your mom refused to watch but she watched other people's videos- I was bout to come speak to your mother for you 🤌
The hot dog quest feels more like an optional/bonus quest. You just got some extra points or coins or cookies or whatever. The leaf pillows are very adorable. Am I the only one who thinks if they were Rachel's neighbor you and her could be BFFs? No matter what kind of video it is, it always makes me happier.
Rachel, I rarely comment on this channel but I fel like saying that you are one of my favourite people on this platform and your content brings me so so much joy. Thank you so much 🌿
I've started saying "and we have fun here" when things get weird at work 😂 I'd love to say the perfect encouraging thing to help you with life right now, but lil muscle guy already says it all! So just know somewhere out there a complete stranger is genuinely rooting for you!
Oh Rachel, it's so cute seeing you so proud of making a pillow when pillows are the one thing that I am confident in making compared to my costumes LOL. Was super excited to see a video from you especially with extra Kitty scene. It really turned out awesome and I love your green dress at the end too!! I hope you know how much you inspire people to create 💖
I literally cannot believe how perfect your video timing is for me. I always said when I finally bought my own home, I'd be using your videos as inspiration (I've been saying that for like 5 years). I moved into my home a week ago today and it has an alcove bed!!! That I want to upgrade!!! Ugh, thank you as always for sharing your vision with us.
I just wanna say I love you and your content so much ❤ it really get me through school and life. And I'm now very close to finishing my master's thesis. So thank you and I hope I've given something back to you by writing this ❤
I made a pillow to house my childhood stuffed animal that is now little more then fluff, some fabric and string. Was quite satisfying to make, if a tad emotional cause I knew I'd never actually see my Puffy again. But she lives on my bed now. However! You had inspired me to make more pillows. My weekly budget would like a word.
Mrs. Ma'am, from someone who watches your videos all the time and doesn't comment enough, this video is golden. Also, for what it's worth, life is 💯 lifing right now and you're not alone. You're badass and got this. We've GOT THIS!! 👊
Rachel thank you so much for spreading the energy of accepting your imperfections and embracing the experience of creating as it is, without overboard perfectionism and self criticizing I wanna support you if you're still dealing with self doubt and tell you that your values and image on the internet has helped me a whole bunch to treat myself better and be gentle to things around me, appreciating their history. I am sure I'm not the only one whom you inspired greatly.❤
I'm a new subscriber, but had previously seen a couple of your videos. I've watched several now and love them all. From ones in your Grandmother's house to your current home and renos. I love watching home projects, but also your creative process to come up with content and express that in a very artful way. I am a 70 year young woman living in Salem Oregon. Also an artist and someone who has always thrifted and given items a second home. My asthetic was always inspired by how masterpiece theatre used to begin, showing old literature and travel items on a table. I called it, world traveler, or grandma's attic. But in modern times they call it Boho. So, as a new and older person to your channel, continue to be your true self. We live in times where people are so intimidated to be themselves and hide their personalities. You are refreshing. Continue in all the inspiration you wish to share.
I'm NOT a home renovation DIY kinda guy so I look at these thumbnails and titles and think "Meh, don't know if it's for me." I'm always reminded what keeps me coming back for more. Hyundai's have hotdog storage.
Rachel, I hope you know that a huge amount of us will watch you whether you feel confident or not, whether you feel funny or not, or whether you post less regularly or not. Take care of yourself and be nice to yourself!
when you said “i could never cut that crisp of a line in wood” i wanted to reach into the screen and say YES YOU CANNNN!!!! i have never worked with wood, and have zero experience with the level of craft that you already have and i thought i would give a try, and i cut a wavy shelf with a jigsaw on the first try!!! you could defffff do it!
i know that Rachel is a hugely busy person but i feel like a community theater near her would absolutely benefit from her many talents! sincerely, a begrudging theatre kid lol
This'll probably get buried but you are legit my favorite person on RUclips. You are so relatable and I always love seeing what you come up with. The self doubt can be loud but honestly, your stuff is always top notch and makes me smile 😊 thank you!
Your videos always makes me feel better. I just thought you should know that. Your boundless enthusiasm (even despite your own struggles) never fail to lift my spirits and give me motivation in my own life.
I once got recruited to do a bunch of foam-cutting work for my college (we carved the school logo out of foam and got the freshmen to fight each other with the letters) and my teacher invested in this bandsaw-shaped foam-cutting hot wire table thing… it felt silly at the time but it actually worked really well to get perpendicular cuts even in really thick soft foam! It might be useful, albeit… ‘spency. Anyway, it’s really cool seeing your progression with sculpting and foam and Apoxie from the lamp to the chair to this bed!! The design work is so cute, too 🪴Watching you always inspires me to keep making stuff no matter how busy I am ✌️😆
I really enjoy your videos. Everytime i see you adding another lovely nook to your home it just reminds me to do things that make me happy. That its worth it. Happiness is worth doing something different. Its worth doing that little thing or doing that big thing. Im not sure how to express it, but everytime I watch your videos it gives me an extra boost to keep finding and doing things that bring joy. ❤
In Australia, hardware shops will often have a sausage sizzle at the entrance - it's part of the democracy sausage tradition if anyone needs to google that lol - so I found the hot dog side quest genuinely fascinating
Hey Rachel! I’ve made a bunch of pillows in my life, just wanted to give you a tip; If you are reusing fluff or if the fluff you are using is compacted, take the the time to pull it apart and refluff it. This makes your pillow softer and gets rid of the lumpiness. They are a lot easier to fluff and I feel like it makes them last longer before they get all flat and uncomfortable
Some cute little green ropes with tassels to hold the curtains off to the side would look amazing! Attached to the inside walls of the alcove so you couldn't see where they are attached and then you could drape them with that classic swooping look😊❤
My ex husband was a house painter/writer who made up faux ads for his business: you’ll faint at my paint, you’ll go nutty at my putty and you’ll gawk at my caulk.
I used to know someone with a very heavy Eastern European accent who pronounced “caulking” like “cocaine” and it’s just given me another reason to laugh at caulking
Hi Rachel! I don’t know if it means much coming from a random stranger on the internet, but I think you’re hilarious! You are honestly my biggest inspiration and you’ve really helped me to be confident in who I am, even if I am kind of strange at times. Your videos are always the highlight of my day!
We love this channel. Got my daughter hooked and now we watch together. She shows me the Instagram posts and I keep an eye out for the new videos. Her friends also enjoy watching now - even the guys think Rachel is awesome, so you've got teens hanging out and watching Rachel on Friday nights 😊 I'm gen x and they're gen z, and we're from nearly every cultural and religious background. From what I see in comments on this channel, we've got people from every living generation, so there you go Rachel - you are bringing people together and spreading a lot of joy. Keep up the good work!
Yay, Rachel! This turned out so lovely and cosy! I enjoyed how you dressed for the hardware store. I thought Grampa core would have worked great, but what you put together was better 😂. More protective, if you know what I mean. The colors you chose are a beautiful mix of dark and light. The curtains are so pretty! Why is no one talking about how pretty they are?! The porch swing has the same vibe, doesn’t it? Lovely. I hope you are uplifted by these comments; everyone on here loves you and wishes you well.
I find it so impressive just how many skills you have! How many different media you work with, and how many different crafts you just try and do (well)! Absolute jack of all trades, so inspiring tbh! Whenever I see something and am like 'oh i want to make/have this, but I can't', I think of you and then go 'I'll just go and try it!'. Thank you for being such a motivation and inspiration!
So sorry you have been struggling. You are amazing, never doubt that, and talented as hell! Life sucks sometimes, but always try to find at least 3 things every day to be grateful for, it will help, remember energy flows where your attention goes! 😊
It turned out SO pretty! I love the color scheme and it looks so cozy - you could even get a sconce with a battery light to make it a good reading corner at night, too. I love that your DIY projects are low entry level - I live in an apartment and I just don't have the space to store woodworking tools, so anything that requires that is a no for me. Your projects always feel doable and that sparks inspiration for those like myself!
Rachel! I just wanted to say you’re my favorite content creator on this platform. You not only inspire me but your videos give me comfort when I’m having bad mental health days. Please keep doing what you’re doing! You gave me the confidence to start sewing finally and now it’s all I do even tho I’m not great at it but hearing you talk about how perfection shouldn’t be the goal it gives me the courage to keep going.
Hi Rachel, i love your videos! At 61, I've powered through several times in my life. It's good and gets you through some tough times, but eventually you burn out. There is another option, though - give yourself a break with the space and time you need to process. It will be okay. ❤
I came here to say the same thing. Taking time and space when experiencing what sounds like burn out on top of personal, behind-the-scenes stuff could help a lot. Rachel doesn't owe anyone anything more than she wants or is able to give while taking care of herself.
What a charming idea! I love your stuff. When you are doubting yourself, please know your videos have helped me overcome my own issues with finishing things. My mantra is "Good enough!!!".
"putting the 'whim' in 'whimsy'" is a shirt I would buy lol The window turned out darling, and I am afflicted with such envy that words fail me. All it needs is a bookshelf within reach, or a cute little side table for warm beverages!
Did i just click away from another video?? Yes, yes I did!!!! ❤ This came out so pretty and cozy!!!! Baby girl sounds like my baby girl when she can't get her way either lol. We have whole conversations about her woes.
Fun and gorgeous- and that's just you...the project also. There is something about an alcove bed. I remember Mrs Tittlemouse's box bed that I always wanted to curl up in. Thank you for your videos... be gentle and kind to yourself. You are bringing joy to so many of us. And also take time out if you need.
So sad yet relatable that you feel unsatisfied with your work, Rachel, but honestly youre one my inspirations for who i want to be as i grow and mature into adult life. Your creativity, skills and the way you're not afraid to experiment with new things make me want to keep making art. I know it may seem like a lot of pressure, but take this in the nicest way possible!!! You're such an inspiration and i truly admire you🩷
I love the way you whimsically come up with an idea and just dive in with out checking if you have all the materials to build or make said whimsy but you always manage to pull off the project and it looks great

Hey Rachel! do you think my moms home business (resin crafts) could make you some Light Switch, and outlet covers?
A fresh Maksy™️ video to wake up to on my birthday 😊
Rachel, I hope you put a separating sheet between the foam over mattress and the fabric. Foam is tacky and rough-surfaced and it will eat the fabric when you move on the mattress. Putting a second sheet allows the top sheet to move freely and not get sanded by the foam. This is why when upholstering they put cheap fabric down before the main fabric.
your personality gives me the vibes of “i will not stop until it’s perfect” and simultaneously “eeh good enough” and i love it
it me
It's a classic "there are two wolves inside of you" situation
I feel that that is a very millennial feeling. We try desperately for it to be prefect, but then realize it doesn't matter and no one cares anyway.
@stephaniehorne6692 I feel you are 💯 spot on lol
The ADHD experience. Hyper focus? Must be perfect! Lost the focus? This just gonna have to be good enough cause i'm fucking done with this shit
"She's ok. She just fears change" I've never heard anything so relatable.
❤
Jessica Valenti on Twitter once said, "Whenever I get discouraged and want to quit something, I remember the words of my then 3-year old after she puked up carrots all over the living room floor: "I'm gonna need more carrots" for some reason this always brightens my day and I tell myself that I'm going to need more carrots too. I couldn’t love that quote more!❤
😂😂😂😂
This might be the best thing I’ve read this morning 😂❤
I will now quote this wayward internet comment for evermore and nobody will ever know what I am referring to because of the random obscurity of it, but it will continuously bring me joy, knowing I too am gonna need more carrots. Thank you stray friend from the intewebs.
It's beautiful! I always love your videos and ideas! ❤
Just so you know, my husband was a contractor, is now an architect, and still laughs at the word caulking. Yesterday he came home giggling because his boss told him to 'carefully plan the penetration points'. Giggled. For hours.
Hahaha this comment! Thank you for this 😁
Your husband is amazing cuz I would also be laughing like a fool at that🤣
This made me giggle when I read "penetration points". Thank you, I needed that giggle.
You’ve found a good one
Every set crew I've worked on has constantly laughed at the word caulking. Hell, one of my directors tried to ban us from saying it at one point. Tried being the operative word
Frodo is definitely like, "aw yeah, mama fits in my new dog bed with me" at the end there
My wife and I just bought an old, Victorian era house and your channel has been a huge source of inspiration for us!
Congratulations on a beautifully old new home🏠🎉 Would love to see some of the work, if you have an active channel, if you feel comfies
@@TeenDream888 Ooh, just a quick google and it looks to be up my alley! Thanks, I'll check it out!
I love how this renovation came out. Stop selling yourself short. You have amazing crafting abilities. Your pillow turned out really cute. I loved your thunderstorm break.
She has great taste. Much experience too.
hi, just wanted to say to Rachel that once I started calling myself a "silly goose" instead of "dumb" or "stupid" or anything else like that, I subtly became happier. sometimes we need to treat ourselves like a toddler. it's the little things.
Haha.

I love this comment
This comment is relatable to so many more people than you could imagine, I count in that bunch 💯
Also stealing your post it trick!
I feel this entire comment in the DEPTHS of my SOUL
@MiniJenJen I’m sending so much support your way! Your comment was so relatable, and I’m so excited for you and the things you have been able to do recently. Hooray for realizing-and practicing-the “half-ass is better than no-ass” philosophy!
Oof, that "feeling not great about myself right now but I'm going to push through anyways and force-feed myself the good vibes until I believe it to be true" is EXTREMELY relatable, especially as a creative person. Keep on fighting the good fight Rachel, and curl up in your cute lil reading nook
you should never doubt your sense of humor after you state the word "like a bicycle seat for a hamster" HILARIOUS and adorable.
Rachel’s comments section is gold 😊✨💫
My sister sent me a little Mister Rogers and trolley bust that has a positive quote from whenever you press the trolley sign. I'm an almost 40 year old man but I still enjoy being able to press it and hear some positive advice. "Taking care is one way to show your love. Another way is letting people take care of you when you need it."
It is ok - it is ok to have something that reassures you
That’s exactly why we give such toys to kids, to teach them self worth from the start. Sometimes we forget how hard it is just to do the bare minimum, and it’s even easier to forget what the hard work is worth if the payout isn’t immediate.
Commenting to tell you the following:
- your projects are delightful.
So thank you in advance for what my house is going to look like in a few years 😂❤
!!!! Yes! ❤ You said so well what I've been thinking while watching this video! Thank you for expressing my feelings so nicely with your words. 😌💛
I always wanted an alcove bed as a child, it’s my David the Gnome dream.
Yes!!! My aunt had the books, and I gazed longingly at the alcove bed illustration. (And giggled at the naked gnome woman)
@@skulleigh5867 for me my grandmother had the books but other than that SAME 😝
Yes!!
I liked the TV series until the last episode...that made me angry
Awww. I miss that show. Father Dowling / the doctor from the Yours, Mine & Ours as a fantasy creature.
My bitty brain was very, "humina- wha?"
When I was stationed in Afghanistan, I had an alcove bed made in my stall in the group hut, and it was so awesome! It provided extra privacy, extra sound proofing, and made me feel special and safe. I still think of it fondly :)
The hotdog quest was quite the adventure. I was riveted!
Me too! I thought for sure the hotdog would never make it home. And Rachel would have chili breath.😉
It really brightened my day after a looooong week!
Side quests are completely underrated. I'm going to now call any deviations from the plan a "side quest." WE'RE GOING TO HOARD ALL THE WHIMSY
me too!!! the tension was palpable!!
YESS. And I actually wanted to see his reaction too, woulda been cute. Sadly we didn't get it☹️
Just like your inspirational little muscle man, my mom taped a picture of Wonder Woman on her mirror while she was recovering from brain surgery and the following depression. She remembered to keep her head up, and do the pose for as long as she could; keep looking at your little muscle man, and keep flexing your own!!! You got this, and we love you (:
The mention of bicycle seats for hamsters sounds like another "Little Guy" video in the making
That was my thought, too.
yeees, i'm in desperate need of another little guy
Dear Rachel, as someone who used to work at the Orange Home Improvement Store™️, thank you for checking the storage capabilities of your car before going to the store.
The amount of people who would buy a grill or something else gigantic and then look at me like I was supposed to bend the laws of physics to fit it into their 2 door car- well, the number is far more than I care to recount.
So on behalf of Home Improvement Retail Workers everywhere; thank you for having foresight and (not so) common sense.
you mean they DONT train you how to do that?? absolute nonsense - let me speak to your manager 😡 /j
That made my day😂 Thought about how that sounds like something JackSepticEye would say & I laughed more😂
The day that Rachel teaches herself 3D modeling in Blender, vector design with Inkscape, and buys herself a 3D printer (two words: wood filament) and laser cutter is the day that she will become unstoppable.
Waiting for the Simone Giertz collab.
Oh my. I can see her just powering her way through it by sheer willpower and cosplayer ingenuity.
Rachel Maksy x Nerdforge
I'd watch the shit outta that!
A collaboration with Simone Giertz or Nerdforge would be unimaginably powerful. 😳
But seriously, I think about Rachel's choice to use foam because she said she couldn't cut straight lines in wood, and her drawing the shape in a program like Inkscape and cutting it out of wood on a CNC machine or similar would've given her something perfect and longer-lasting.
Feel this 🙏❤️
Same! Been watching for years... The first time my husband saw her videos he went "I thought you were watching this for the content, Like you wanted to make something like that. But I just realized she talks exactly like you. This is trippy."
8:01 I'm so glad someone else does the "enthusiastically whip the door back and forth to air out the room faster" maneuver
"Putting the whim in whimsey", are the words I have been living by my whole life. You do you, mate :)
I conned my husband into watching a few of your videos and now your channel is a couples activity for us!! We love you Rach!!
I feel like an easy way to get a much more permanent version of this would be to thrift some old furniture parts. an old headrest would probably work really well here and only require cutting to size
I was thinking a twin headboard probably would have fit
Razzle sawdust-azzle 'em!
Get a dust mop from Home Depot, Lowe's, or at a thrift store and use that on your wood floors, it's awesome.
I'll add another 🙋♀️ me (we?) too. She'll ask for the "red-haired girl" (she has been asking for a name, hopefully she remembers it).
Awww ❤
Thank you so much 🌿
Thank you for the “plants in bloom” shots. So gorgeous!
I've started saying "and we have fun here" when things get weird at work 😂
I'd love to say the perfect encouraging thing to help you with life right now, but lil muscle guy already says it all! So just know somewhere out there a complete stranger is genuinely rooting for you!
Girl, you just bring me so much joy. This video came at the exact perfect time today. Thank you for being you! Beautiful decor!
Thanks for the smiles and serotonin ❤
Oh Rachel, it's so cute seeing you so proud of making a pillow when pillows are the one thing that I am confident in making compared to my costumes LOL. Was super excited to see a video from you especially with extra Kitty scene. It really turned out awesome and I love your green dress at the end too!! I hope you know how much you inspire people to create 💖
The green dress! I want it!!!
@@paulabad yessss me too!
@@starlalocke9372 I found it online, it's from last summer's Reformation collection. Out of stock
The way that thunderstorm break actually lowered my blood pressure.
I think it's struggle bus season, but we're here for you!
I'm down for the extended cut of the thunderstorm break.
Me too! And the flower shots. Man I just adore it.
I absolutely love your home decoration/reno projects
"Because we're friends, right?" YES. I love it.
Literally my reaction.
Mine too .. did a happy little clap too 😀
I just wanna say I love you and your content so much ❤ it really get me through school and life.
You are all I want to watch. Your creativity, resourcefulness and whimsy are nothing short of amazing.
Mrs. Ma'am, from someone who watches your videos all the time and doesn't comment enough, this video is golden. Also, for what it's worth, life is 💯 lifing right now and you're not alone. You're badass and got this. We've GOT THIS!! 👊
Rachel thank you so much for spreading the energy of accepting your imperfections and embracing the experience of creating as it is, without overboard perfectionism and self criticizing
I wanna support you if you're still dealing with self doubt and tell you that your values and image on the internet has helped me a whole bunch to treat myself better and be gentle to things around me, appreciating their history. I am sure I'm not the only one whom you inspired greatly.❤
Your home makeover videos are some of my favorite.
Thanks for the New England thunderstorm break! I miss those from my youth! Ah, nostalgia!
i know that Rachel is a hugely busy person but i feel like a community theater near her would absolutely benefit from her many talents! sincerely, a begrudging theatre kid lol
This'll probably get buried but you are legit my favorite person on RUclips. You are so relatable and I always love seeing what you come up with. The self doubt can be loud but honestly, your stuff is always top notch and makes me smile 😊 thank you!
I would genuinely watch an hour long video of the aesthetic rain fall from your porch at different angles
Oh alcove beds were my dream bed as a child!! 🤩
We have such a similar aesthetic taste. I love your whimsy.
I have the same ivy leaf pillows! And Rachel said we're friends! I feel so special!
Some cute little green ropes with tassels to hold the curtains off to the side would look amazing! Attached to the inside walls of the alcove so you couldn't see where they are attached and then you could drape them with that classic swooping look😊❤
Never stop laughing at the word "caulking".
I work for a glass installation company and laugh weekly 😅
My ex husband was a house painter/writer who made up faux ads for his business: you’ll faint at my paint, you’ll go nutty at my putty and you’ll gawk at my caulk.
I used to know someone with a very heavy Eastern European accent who pronounced “caulking” like “cocaine” and it’s just given me another reason to laugh at caulking
@@katherinerutsala3478 and you let this man become your ex?!
Sweet little nook! Perfect for reading - oh, but now you have to add some lighting. Still, a sweet little nook!
Her bangs look so pretty!
On a side note, have you ever thought of making an entire video of just thunderstorms for all to enjoy? I would watch it a billion times. :D
Sameeeeeee
Such a cute alcove bed,.. 🥰. nice done.👍🏼
Rachel, girly, I'm gonna need you to do a lipstick collection video one day because I'm always obsessed with your lip shades 😍 Especially the reds
Rachel, you are awesome and your videos always make me feel better! Hope all is well ❤
Hi Rachel, i love your videos!
Confetti... The party decor version of craft herpes. 😬
Also, kinda jealous. This is super cute! Imagine reading in there on a story day? 💖
The alcove turned out adorable and so cozy! Clever use of styrofoam for the header! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
"putting the 'whim' in 'whimsy'" is a shirt I would buy lol
The window turned out darling, and I am afflicted with such envy that words fail me. All it needs is a bookshelf within reach, or a cute little side table for warm beverages!
18:30 I have that EXACT same pillow! It graces the couch every autumn season.
Did i just click away from another video?? Yes, yes I did!!!! ❤ This came out so pretty and cozy!!!! Baby girl sounds like my baby girl when she can't get her way either lol. We have whole conversations about her woes.

Yup!
I was on the mushroom sleeves 😂
I did too!😂
Fun and gorgeous- and that's just you...the project also. There is something about an alcove bed. I remember Mrs Tittlemouse's box bed that I always wanted to curl up in. Thank you for your videos... be gentle and kind to yourself. You are bringing joy to so many of us. And also take time out if you need.
Alcove beds are awesome! Yours came out so cool and pretty!😊😊😊
You go girl nothing can pull you down!!!!❤
Hell yes another video! My day always gets better with some Rachel crafts.
I feel like tie backs with tassels would be a cherry on top
A perfectly whimsical video to recover from surgery to!

You're such an inspiration and i truly admire you🩷
THE MOMENT SHE POST?! IM HERE!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the way you whimsically come up with an idea and just dive in with out checking if you have all the materials to build or make said whimsy but you always manage to pull off the project and it looks great
We don’t expect you to be funny all of the time, love you just the way you are 😊
