- WEEELP I've said it before folks but, I love a theme. So here we are, redoing another room in my house because I need to be surrounded by WHIMSY. This time it is the teeny tiny guest bathroom on the first floor, because I want people to be transported when they have to use it, hahaha. ANYWHO I gave myself a few days for this and I think it turned out pretty decent! Not long til every room in my home is a different theme and/or time period ooooops.

Hi all!!! Captions should be up by later tonight! K LOVE YOU BYE
Do you write them out yourself, because they make me SUPER happy! I love when they cc actually says all the things you do 😂
LOVE YOU TOO AHAHHAHA
This is literally a video of you standing back while your husband does it all
Thank you! The captions make a huge difference to those of us with audio processing problems : )
K THX BAAAAAAI
i love seeing Nick and Rachel together, chaotic fairy wife and 'just a guy' husband is my favorite dynamic
You put into words what I have always thought about them lol
Her husband is good at renovations though, he's helped her quite a few times with bigger projects :) And he's a Fantasy reader, so a dreamer too deep down ;)
LOL
i read that as "just a gay" and was confused for a sec
Being a wife seems so fun ☺️☺️☺️ I don't know if I'll get to be one. I think it's so lucky when 2 people get to live life together. What a treat. Such a blessing 💟 I admire and respect from afar. Being 37 I guess I missed the boat 🙃😔⛵
But I've cried my tears. Other things out there to fulfill me. Can't cry forever 💙💚💙
Visiting Rachel’s house is going to be like traveling around the world. A Parisian bathroom? The half-timbered Tudor-ish office? Yes, please. I can’t wait to see what the next space will be!
Not to mention otherworldly with that gorgeous forest mural on the wall
I love this 😍 so good ❣️
AND the Parisian circus office!
Soon Rachel's different rooms will be at war with eachother lmao
And it’s like travelling through time!! Super cool
one of my design professors in college would say "i'd hang that in my bathroom" to pieces that he thought were interesting but not necessarily the best. he said "it's a place you see a lot and spend a bit of time in but you won't *always* be looking at it." if he didn't like a piece, he said he'd hang it in his guest room. 😅
That’s actually a very kind way to critique. I like that.
This is fantastic and SAVAGE, I'm using that line more often when I need to critique art without sounding like a jerk haha
What room would he hang pieces he liked in?
Bathrooms and kitchens are also notorious for damaging artwork (due to humidity and temperature changes), so you shouldn't put your favorites there
Rachel: I'm gonna start by painting and putting up this tile before working out how the sconce is going in
Me, an electrician: *screaming externally*
How else do you scream? Or did you mean screaming internally so as not to disturb the neighbours?
@@yippee8570 Internally screaming: when you are maddened but don't want to be rude. Externally screaming: when you are so maddened all hopes of remaining polite go out the window before you do
@@prayingmantis8148 I see 😆
Not an electrician, but still was baffled by this 😂
As a parisian i find your choice to have Paris as a theme for the room where you're gonna take a shit absolutely on point and hilarious
That's just so great XD
ça va sentir Paris pour de vrai
Haha !!
I think it's cute, the small cozy french room....very hotel 🏨 feel to it !!
J'ai pensé pareil 😂@@AliceAndW
Oh my God, FINALLY PAINTING TAPE! the anxiety it gives me to see Rachel paint without taping off everything first... 😱 I'm so impressed she doesn't make a complete mess at the edges all the time as I would. She truly is AN ARTISTE.
Same. I legit said the same thing out loud. I get so stressed when she doesn’t use painters tape because I make a massive mess when I don’t. My hands are shaky af.
same...
I work in a decorators wharehouse and only retail customers and about 1/5 proper painters atchly use tape it is realy easy to cut in free hand and get crisp lines and never by a role of tape
@@ronistitch6510 Not if you have any kind of hand tremor.
@@ronistitch6510 ya when i worked on a professional paint crew we never used painter's tape lol but to be fair, they were skilled enough to not need it.
You need to design a sign saying 'The Oui Oui Room' for the door, that was genius 😆
*La Oiu Oiu Room* ? 😂
@@madmigraineur3815 La Salle de Oui Oui?
If you still have bubbles under the peel and stick, take a sewing pin/needle (I know you have one stuck in your sock at this very moment, haha) and just make a tiny hole for the air to escape, then press the tile down; works like a charm!
That is a great tip, wow.
Also, if possible, make the hole at the bottom of the bubble, not the middle, depending on the print that can help (if you make it at the bottom of the tile)
I've been to Paris a lot for work and let me say: this looks exactly like the bathrooms in those cosy Parisian café's. So I would say: you absolutely nailed it! Love it! ^_^
was going to say the same thing. Parisian bathrooms - the public ones, ones in restaurants etc., at least, are TINY. and usually buried beneath street level. Going to the loo in Paris was an adventure :D
the ‘oui oui room’ is my new name for the bathroom. it’s so good
Agree, totally stealing it for my powder room. It’ll make me smile as it makes my family cringe at my humor 😌
Lol! I would make my bathroom french inspired just to name it the Oui Oui Room!
Goes well with the old joke that in the living room you’re American but in the bathroom European (you’re a peeing’)!
As Peter Griffin (Family Guy) said as he left his French class, “I need to take a wicked yes.”
Its genius.
Before she sadly passed away, my mother in law decorated her whole entire house like this. It was amazing, and there's lot one rule... It's never too much as long as you love it. A rule i will try to live by in her honour.
Love that rule.
In Downton Abbey, lady Violet says "nothing succeeds like excess" at one point when she remarked on the elaborate decor of the dining room, when pretty much everything was out on display for the guests, before their arrival.
And sorry about your mother in law.
I wanted so badly to marry this one man. Who I truly loved and still do. I even truly loved his mother and it pained my heart like nothing else that I never got the opportunity to meet her. And probably never will. She seems like such a kind woman. So rare and so is he. He will never know how much I love him. That hurts me the most. It's all my fault and because I can't do anything right that matters, I will probably be single forever. 🙈😔
1) Nick's shenanigans around recording had me giggling because my husband would probably pull the same thing.
2) I am in awe of your ability to mostly paint w/o the painters tape.
Rachel: Why am I this color?? I look like a Victorian ghost!
Me, thinking she looked very Snow White: oh yeah that too.
That was seriously fun though, Nick teasing her about the camera recording was funny. It's a really pretty bathroom! Like heck yeah, themed rooms! I don't know why but I really enjoy the home renovation videos. I must've watched the forest mural painting video in the old house at least five times.
Yes! I immediately thought she needs to do a Snow White look while her hair is dark!
I love seeing the home renovations you've done with the fake wood planks in your office, the forrest mural in your bedroom, and now the French bathroom. It just seems really whimsical and breaks the mold of boring white walls like I'm used to from my mom's decoration style
My grandmother (who used to be a literal farmer) would always purposely mispronounce ‘oui oui Bonjour monsieur’ as ‘wee wee barn door manure’ and your pun at the beginning gave me a heavy dose of nostalgia and serotonin
As a Parisian, I must say, I'm impressed!! I maybe wouldn't have gone for brown, but you made it work! Love the baguette paint though, looks crispy!
Salutations transatlantiques!!
Respect for French culture I find it so beautiful and fine.
My parents honeymooned in Paris.
I have never been to France.
Honestly Rachel, these vids clearly make you so happy by the end and they're so much fun to watch, please just use your channel as an excuse to renovate your whole house and take us along for the ride.
AMEN on all fronts
As a Frenchie, I usually disapprove of so-called French makeovers, they usually are not good, but this one? It's quite accurate, appart from the frames, I've been in bathrooms similarly decorated
What would french frames look like? 🙂
@@thelacycottage5826 Like frames, but ~French~
@@thelacycottage5826 I just meant that restaurant bathrooms don't usually have frames, even the nice ones in Paris 😉
Yeah, I was going to say that it looked like bathrooms I saw in France lol
@@anadacosta4043 out of curiosity, would a home bathroom still have frames? Particularly over at chez Grandmere?
i always love when people casually use phrases jenna always used. it just feels like her legacy is being preserved (like at 21:00 with the 'too much gene')
I thought I was the only one who noticed!! warmed my heart a bit, I use this phrase in real life all the time
Next time you paint a bathroom, put a kitchen trash bag over the toilet, then you can just go wild with paint on the wall! Love the bathroom! 😊
My day instantly improves whenever Rachel posts 😌
Same!
this was very cute and as a French person, I'd say you nailed it (the tiles reminding me of the metro haha).
We want to see more ❤️ (especially la kitchen !!!!) Bisous 😘
I’m gonna be like you as soon as we get a house. Visitors will get an experience from EVERY. SINGLE. ROOM 🙌✨
Its a wonderful way to both save vintage/antique treasures and give your guests an experience at the same time!! I love it!!
Given Latrec's sense of humor I think he'd appreciate where you've put the print. You've definitely inspired me to rethink the appearance of my bathroom.
At last someone says my chaos aesthetic… Cluttercore. Thank you. Also I really appreciate your vlog project as accountability perspective. It’s honestly inspiring.
The bathroom looks fantastic! You really transformed it from contractor grade basics to a sumptuous, warm, and romantic creation.
I need "Chaos Asthetic" as merch
Cluttercore... I feel seen...
I call it “happy clutter”!
I love how your boo is just okay with every makeover. Hes literally the coolest.
To be fair, her makeovers are fairly gender neutral, and also, she makes money by doing them lol

The brown instead of cream was a great choice, looks really good. Also I can't believe you did this in 4 days. I've been decorating my bedroom since January.
i mean this in the most positive way possible - whenever i come home from work and watch your newest video, i always fall asleep. your videos are so relaxing.
I cannot believe how gorgeous that turned out. I won’t lie, when you started describing it my first thought was that it sounded both busy and chaotic (in a not-great way), but I bow down to your superior decorating sense because holy cow that’s fantastic.
Also I will admit to my own selfishness. When you first moved I remember thinking RACHEL WILL BE DOING HOME RENOVATION and not only was I right, it was good.
"The Oui Oui Room"
I might have laughed a bit too much :p
Here in France we have some North American renovation TV shows on TV, and I must admit that because of them, I was convinced that the toilets were always in the same room as the shower/bathtub, nice to see that it was all just a myth (I never understood the "we have 4 bedrooms so we need precisely 4 bathrooms with shower/bathtub AND toilets in it" thingy ^^ )
Really like the bathroom, it looks like it could come from a french period drama (or from Disneyland Paris :p )^^
We definitely have bathrooms that are just a toilet and sink with no bathtub or shower. It's sometimes called a half-bathroom, but usually only when a house is listed for sale. The house listing would say something like 2 1/2 bathrooms, so two bathrooms have showers and/or bathtubs and the half bathroom does not. But most of the time we just call them all bathroom whether there's a bath or not.
@@tamisheiffer8568 Thanks for the clarification :)
Here (Finland) it's the most usual to have toilet and the shower in the same room, especially in apartment complexes! Often you also have an adjacent sauna room xD I don't have one, unfortunately, but our complex has a public one you can reserve your own hour for once a week, for 7€/month :'D
Well the shows are right in that a bathroom in the US without a shower/tub is not considered a whole bathroom. A bathroom with a sink and toilet is called a half bath. I would assume however that people, if they had the money, could change it to fit their culture. I have seen places in the US with the toilet in a different room than the sink or shower/tub because some cultures consider washing hands/body in the same room as the toilet as disgusting. That's exceedingly uncommon for a few reasons, resell value and reno costs etc. It's more common than that to have the shower and toilet in the same room and the sink in a different room. (Master baths)
I could watch 5h long videos of you renovating your house. It´s so comforting
Regarding the peel and stick tile wall: It’s the little quirks that give it character. This is what my Mum said to my Dad many years ago when he was painting a pearlescent blue bedroom wall for me :)
Rachel: I want my guests to be...transported
My brain: so it's a...Porta-potty. 🥁
Thats genius.
Rachel,
Your Parisian Potty is adorable. I would love to be in there .Your guest's will adore being transported! I think I speak for many of your fan's when I say, pleeeeease keep your home improvements in the video repertoire. As always thank you for being you! I don't take the joy you give me for granted!! I appreciate you very much and all the time and effort you put into your video's.

I am unreasonably happy about the alliteration of Parisian Potty
”G'buh” at the end to His Majesty is such a mood. I do that to my cats all the time.
Also can I just say that I love your channel so much, because it fills the same kind of vibe that the internet is missing without Jenna. Chaotic creativity channels are the actual best thing, mostly because it's usually 30-somethings playing dress up and making stuff because they CAN. As a 30-something that is also a fan of whimsy, I feel absolutely at home on this channel. Thank you for being awesome!
I second this! 💕✨
I find joy in thinking she just brings supplies home one day and is like "Babbbeee I wanna do a thing" and then chaotically finishes her project with her hubby rushing behind to help lol. Looks great Rachel ♥️
I laughed pretty hard at “The Oui Oui Room”… so, it’s safe to say I will be randomly laughing about it to myself for the next week. And also I’ve spent 10 minutes trying to think of a French pun in response until I realized I took French classes 20 years ago and since it’s 7 pm, I’m tired. Millennial Life.
I relate so hard to that last sentence 😆

That has been a dream of mine.
But to do that in a tiny small old house, it's a dream .... still a dream ...sigh
I confess I thought tile + wallpaper + wainscoting + paint would be WAY too much for a small bathroom, but I think it looks great! It makes it feel like it's old (in a good way) and been added onto over the centuries. Nicely done!
Rachel is peak comedy, never fails to make make me laugh
Yes!! And I love that she has embraced very much Jenna marbles energy. We need that.

It is so inspiring how you take control of your space through decoration ❤
I swear you are my child! I loveeeee your decorating style! You do all the stuff I have done in the past. I am always taking a paint brush to "enhance" frames, etc. My brain never stops thinking how I can make an area look better. I also have a "Victorian" garden in my back yard that took my 20 years to complete. Trumpet vine, wisteria, clematis every where. Roses, fountains... adirondack chairs....shed with purple trim and lace curtains. Please keep making videos! I totally enjoy your style...and your charming personality....swear words included! 🤣

I’ve been agonizing over what to do with my tiny ass bathroom. It feels like a prison toilet. I’m totally stealing this. Thank you so much!
As soon as you showed all those lights in that tiny space, I KNEW that it was going to be an issue. I love all the fixtures, but I would definitely be finding the lowest wattage possible for the bulbs. Maybe a little gas lamp flicker would be extra, or maybe it would be PERFECT.
Oh absolutely, I was trying to figure out what I didn't think was great about the lights! They're so cute, but definitely a little bright
it looks awesome, I myself would love to get just one renovation project done in my house but here I am 2 years in and still working on my bedroom. but too be fair the floor has had so many layers to get down to the frikkin wood underneath. (carpet, dingy pepto pink paint, some sort of clear varnish, a beige hellspawn paint, and then finally down to the stain thats on the original wood) I've used chemicals to take off as much I could while scraping it, then used a big sander that looks like a buffer (didn't even touch the beige demon), and now I've found a paint stripper tool attachment for the hand drill and am hand stripping it. wish me luck yall.
French girl here, I approve of the ✨oui oui room✨!!!
I've actually been on a youtube home makeover kick so the fact that this is the theme for your video this week is SO GOOD FOR ME. I love the way the bathroom turned out!!! Might I recommend a stud finder before you start cutting into walls? Not just for it's stated purpose, but it also tells you if there's electrical wiring behind the wall you're about to stick a saw into lol. I love these videos btw.. I find them motivating.. (I say as I sit in what we call the Marlboro room because the walls are painted blood red and I have hated them since we moved into this house last June but I have yet to do anything about because cathedral ceiling height walls with only a 6 ft ladder to work with lol)
Oof! I love red, but yeesh. Might be worth the price of a new ladder. The little giants are great because they still fold up into about the same space as your 6ft ladder does in storage.

Now that I’m old and tired, & gotten lazy, the walls in my current place are white…and I haaaate them!!
Honestly the precision of these renos is just all of my goals. I came up with a theme for all the rooms in our apartment and it's not even close to looking this good.

hi just wanted to let you know that i look forward to your videos every week and they bring me so much comfort. as a newly adulted gen z you bring me hope for my scary journey into adulthood. it’s hard to explain but i don’t really have any role models who are your age, and you’ve shown me that while life is still hard and you never really figure things out even in your 20s, you can make pretty things out of it. this doesn’t make much sense but i love you and you bring me sm comfort

Fantastic! Shelves are usually good. "Clutter core" is universal!
When on vacation in 2018 a cafe/museum bathroom that I was in had every inch of wall space covered in pictures and art in frames. It looked effing amazing!!! MOAR pictures Rachel!! 😍
Where was this? I love bathrooms.
As a peel and stick tile veteran (I did our kitchen back splash all by myself on a whim) it's really important to clean the wall throughly beforehand and use a dry sponge to smooth the tiles as you go. I also used some superglue on some of my edges because they weren't sticking well enough and it worked like a charm. Love the bathroom! It makes me want to do home renovations I've been putting off lol
OMG my italian grandfather sent a postcard to my grandmother that looked exactly like the postcard you framed. I have it framed in our living room! 🙀😂

One thing that i am really enjoying about your videos is your willingness to make mistakes. A lot of creators woyld gave us believe, through editing, that their projects went perfectly start to finish. That just comes across as unbelievable. Plus, i feel more confident about trying bew techniques because I'm less afraid of messing up! So, thank you for being, although otherworldly creative, still humanly real! I think it's really cute!. The only thing I would add is one more small picture to the '"Parisian Cafes' wall.

i mean it's always good, but the editing + voiceover narration is SO good in this video. i need a rachel makeover/diy video for every room in the house, even the hallway...
I love your bathroom renovation!! I love antiques and the artwork you chose is fantastic!! Magnifique!!!
This is by far the cutest bathroom I've ever seen
I loved watching this and it's made me realise I need to do my renos I planned over a year ago. Got a plan to turn my bathroom into a forest oasis type thing. Got my 3 green paints and a lighter bluish colour for the ceiling. I was going to sponge on my greens, but I've hesitated cuz I don't want to have a blobby smushy look. But watching this it occurred to me if I cut sponges into tree shapes, I can get more of a forest feel. I now can't wait to remove the wall that is blocking the window and heat vent in a small hallway behind it. That way my bathroom will finally have a closet in it. Yay storage. Well until I can afford an apartment stackable washer/dryer to go in that space so no more having to go into the basement to do laundry. Thank you for the inspiration. Hugs from one Rachel to another 😊.
