- We don't see a lot of Pit on the competitive scene these days, mainly because the character didn't seem to be very good. However, at Kagaribi 9 in Japan, Zackray showed EVERYONE how wrong we were by making it to GRAND FINALS with Pit. I'll be reacting to some of his CRAZIEST sets.

This is a great idea imo. Not sure if he could do it live tho. He pauses a lot to explain the technical stuff which is great, but you can't pause a live event to explain frame data and etc.
live commentary is not all about breaking down everything for people who already know the game
@@rubberwoody To each their own but I appreciate his insight much more than those who scream till they're out of breath and huffing into the mic. There's really only a handful of commentators I'd rather listen to and that's purely because they're entertaining and funny.
Honestly it crazy how good top players are. People will make their mains their identity but the moment a top player picks up their character they are now the best of that character

Well there was a Japanese player who played him in smash for Wii U but I haven’t seen him play ultimate, the player was Earth

Zachray is so insanely good… I can’t believe what I’m watching half the time. Dudes crazy smart and plays like he never took a break
I think Zackray isn’t just playing well, he has a really good handle on what a top Pit is _supposed_ to look like. Like he doesn’t have the same kinds of options as other meta characters but he plays to the unconventional options he _does_ have very well. It’s super fun to watch
Yeah exactly! I think Pit‘s place in the tier list is a victim of him initially not being perceived as strong and thus being heavily underdeveloped and underoptimized even after the buffs he eventually got.

Apparently from what zackray said, he was just messing around on elite smash with some characters and was using pit and was kinda like "wait, I kinda like this" and then started to practice with pit a lil bit to see if he actually did. And he obvs did, so he picked up pit

When Byleth released, I saw the moveset and thought "This is just heavy pit" cause the specials and nair/ up-air.
I had to laugh during the commentator comments. As a former pro player in Europe I knew since Brawl that Pit was more of a S- or A-tier character who suffers from floatyness and bad framework which holds him back. He was nerved during Smash WiiU/3DS but he is doing better now in Ultimate.
What many people do not realize is, including Marss himself, is that Pit is a well-rounded character who's forte are rally and combo set-ups. You play him not as a go-in character until you can secure the kills because his framework is not as fast as many people realize - and that's crucial to understand in his character design. Pit is a jack of all trades and this makes him extremely balanced against most encounters. Players, who can navigate with a cunning and stalling mindset will have the most success with him. Playing Pit is about psychological warfare and not punishment and this fits his character from the Uprising-game very well. His ultimate counter characters are *faster* characters who can punish him easily (with Roy being the hardest counter for him).
Pit has had potential since Smash 4. Not much people play him or at least not enough good players play him.

Yea it’s a combo but depends on the percents. It works on high percent but because of rage and the opponent being high percent sometimes it’s harder to do in which sometimes we (pit players) have to IDJ (which sounds weird for a character like pit but it helps a lot)
i saw Ryu above 120 and Pit at above 0 and thought "He Lives"
Finally some representation for my main, haven’t seen much of Pit since Dabuz played him a while ago.

Pit's a Lucina-type character. Just very good overall. Nothing super crazy, but has solid tools.
I don't know why but "These dudes *love* Kingdom Hearts. What the heck." really got me. It was just delivered so well.

As a pit main, he is low high tear at best, but is definitely one of the best mid tiers.

Roy is a hard counter for Pit but overall if you're a good player, you can easily make him up a punisher for almost every character due his balanced kit. But you don't play an easy character.
Pit is one of the most "ok and..." Characters in this game imo

High tier at worst, uber underrated character that can just fuck you up when played right. Even though it took zackray to show how amazing he is, I think people should wake up from the 2019 mentality of thinking the character's bad

Same old trend of people all of the sudden saying a certain character is way better than they thought because a top player does good with them. People need to start looking at the actual characters abilities to determine how good they are, not results from pros. Pit has always been a great character. Not just some mid little character.

Anyone who says Pit is honest is kidding themselves. He’s the only character with an aerial shield, he has his arrows which destroy recoveries, he has insane combos, drag downs, an insane recovery, above average frame date, above average stats, disjoints. Like what about this character is honest

Ive mained dark pit/ pit since early smash 4, but never went to a torunament. Lots of untapped potential, never really saw anyone do the character justice (not earth, dabuz, tet, pinkfresh, etc) but zackrays is most impressive has godlike fundies n reaction time. I think dark pit does better in smash 4 and pit does better for ultimate

Imo dark pit is only a little better. Side b kills early-ish at ledge and pit's arrows are only better on the specific match-up when you can gimp easily
It's just your personal preference but that's reality: Pit is more well-rounded in an overall situation due his arrows, when the enemy is out of reach and you can put constant pressure on. Having steerable arrows trumps a side-b move every day.
pits arrows are also a lot better at catching jumps and juggling. they're much more versatile than they seem at first.
Pit is broken and shinymark has been saying it and doing it. Sadly people only see what a top player from Japan does over a player from Central America. And that “garbage DI” is hungrybox DI
I respect shinymark but he wouldn't have been able to do what zackray has just done.
Great vid, although as a Pit player, I have to disagree with Pit not being able to juggle........it's quite literally one of his strengths. Not sure if Mars forgot, but Pit has 4 jumps, upair is a long lasting multi hit and up arrows can be used to force your opponent to land with a bad option, only to be relaunch with another up air.
He is good at juggling, and I’m sure Marss agrees with that. He just doesn’t have the top tier character privilege of super fast, low commitment juggle tools
He never said pit can't juggle it's just that you have commit to it. His frame data doesn't allow for frame traps like better characters can.
@@LimboGcX I agree, they're not really super fast but they're still low commitment for most of his match ups. Maybe Fox could punish Pits juggle but it's ballsy.
@@imissmytoasteroven9551 As a Pit main, I disagree, also you can literally see Zackary juggling without being punished with the same tactic me and every other decent Pit main does: jump once, up air, if it misses do it again lol or jump up arrow, if it it misses or hits then do another up air and finally if some tries to land on you then uptilt which Zackary used alot in his sets. Pits Juggling is quite literally non committal since he has multi jumps with a 75% controllable projectile that even if it misses still puts him in a good spot. Pits juggling is non committal but it's not as broken as some top tiers like Palu.
@@dripfoe_3307 what I meant by having to commit to pits up air is that if you miss the game goes back to neutral and pits frame data doesn't allow for any follow ups after a missed down air. Not many characters can punish pit up air but they don't need to.
