    In this video Jessica lays out what size design to use for what size of shirt or garment. To place your vinyl correctly fold your shirt in half both ways and press to get a nice crease vertically and horizontally. This is an easy trick to find the middle.
    The Shirt/Garment design sizes are as follows:
    Standard Toddler Tee: 5x5
    Onesies: 3x3
    Standard Youth Tee: 7x7
    Standard Adult Tee: 11x11
    Fitted Women’s Adult Tee: 9x9
    Pocket Design: 4x4
    Standard Sleeve Design: 2x11

    Thanks for showing the easy way to line up the prints by folding, and using an iron to press the shirt down. That is my biggest concern, and some of the other videos have lots of fancy boards, rulers, etc. All those tools were getting confusing, and costly. I'm using parchment paper instead of your Teflon paper, hopefully it works good enough. I'm doing my first shirts this weekend with simple text on large 10-12 girls shirt. I believe 6 X 6 will be the best size.

    • @Expressionsvinyls

      Hi, one way we have used it by pressing the shirt before you actually start to iron anything on to it. Fold it in half length wise and press. That will give you a crease from top to bottom. The you fold it right under the arms and press there as well. This one will give you a crease from left to right. Hopefully that helps!

    This was just want I've been looking for. I've seen guides photos on Pinterest but SEEING this in a video really made is sink in. ******???????? Curious, on a TSHIRT for ladies/ girls, (or men) with hair that falls past or over the shoulders, how far down would you put a design on the back?? Talking about the area referred to on a mans dress shirt called the YOKE (area between the collar and the hang loop).

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      Typically, they will go 5.5 inch to 6 inch down. You can always lay the design out on the shirt before pressing to see if it looks good for the shirt and decal you have.

    Any guidelines for placement on the back of shirts

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      Hi Deborah, it depends on the size of the shirt. You want it to be low enough that it isn't right there on the neckline but also high enough that it is placed in the center of the back. A general rule of thumb would be to place it about at the shoulder blade. From there you can align it in the center. Hopefully that helps a little.

  • @shenanigans8799
    @shenanigans8799 5 лет назад

    I have a dumb question, when I use this method, which I always do, whey is there a difference in measurements from the center to each of sleeves? For instance, from the center line to the right sleeve it could measure 6" and from the center to the left sleeve it could measure 6 1/4 ". Does that matter?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      Hi, sometimes that is just how the shirt was made. It could be slightly off due to the seams or collar not being centered. You could adjust it slightly to account for that if you would like so that it doesn't appear off center.

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  6 лет назад

      Hi Vivien, we centered it on the fold line of the tshirt. But you could center it that way or move it to the location that you want it. Creasing it just helps you know the center and give you an idea on where to place it. Hopefully this helps.

    I have a question? A friend wants me to make bachelor shirts for a party. size ranges L to XXL. Im using a 3 line phrase on the back, how big should it be? And they want the words "grooms crew"on the front. Would it look o.k. to put that across the front? And how big and where should it be? Or should I make it a left chest logo? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  6 лет назад

      Hi Debbie, there really isn't a hard set rule on the sizing that things need to be. With the larger shirts you do want to make it big enough that it is in proportion to the shirt but still within the size of vinyl you are working with. For the front logo a good spot is center chest. Where it is just one line of text you do not want it too high but on men, right across the chest is great. If you are still worried about where exactly to put it the left pocket logo is a great location as well. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    I am new to HTV and have started making shirts. So you place the center of the vinyl you crease with the center of the shirt that is creased. I saw in the video but wanted to make sure. Is this for all shirt sizes? The pocket and the back of shirts I am still not sure if I am placing them correctly. I have seen other sites and they are all different and some confusing. Thanks for great videos and great products

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  5 лет назад

      Julie, you are correct, you will line the crease up on the vinyl with the crease on the shirt. I would work with all shirt sizes. If you ever are wondering about a how size or placement would look, you can always cut the design out of paper or cardstock and use it as a guide. You can adjust the design from there.

    • @Expressionsvinyls

      Hello, the standard size for an adult t shirt is 11x11, however, this can vary depending on the design. You can start with these measurements and cut the design out with paper as a guide and adjust the design as needed for the extended and smaller sizes.

      Expressions Vinyl How many inches would you go down in a XXL shirt? Since they are so much bigger then other shirts would we need to stay at about 3 fingers down or go further down on the shirt? Also, how big would you make the design?

      I am using Siser HTV (heat transfer vinyl). It comes in lots of different types. On these shirts, I am using the Easyweed. expressionsvinyl.com/heat-transfer-vinyl.html

    I’m using cricut design space, so in design space do I adjust my design to 3x3 for instance like for the onesizes?

      Hi Nicole, yes, just adjust your design to match the sizing you are wanting to work with. Hopefully this helps.

      so for the adult size shirt, which mat do you use? the 12x24?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  6 лет назад

      Hi Nicole, yes, if your image is larger than the 12 x 12 size of your mat then you can move to the larger mat. If you have the Explore, Explore One, Explore Air or Air 2 then you can actually cut your vinyl without a mat. Here is a link to that video - ruclips.net/video/dz4MwfDFjzY/видео.html

    How do you heat press the front and back of a shirt?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  7 лет назад

      One at a time and make sure both sides have something protecting them when you are pressing. A sheet of our multi use paper would work great. expressionsvinyl.com/12x20-multi-use-paper.html

    • @ag1139
      @ag1139 7 лет назад

      Expressions Vinyl oh ok, I thought the heat from the 2nd application would mess up the adhesion to the one you already did. So the multi paper would solve that problem?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  7 лет назад

      I doubt enough heat will get to it to ruin anything, unless you are pressing for more than 60 seconds. You could place a towel or something between the shirt so it doesnt get as much heat on the other side.

    How many inches do u go down from the top?

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  7 лет назад

      Depends on the shirt size. For a children's shirt maybe an 2-3" depending on size of design. Adult at least 6" or so inches depending on size.

      I have found that V necks you want the top of your image at 2 fingers below the V and line up the center from the sides as normal

    • @irmern

      @@daniellebordenkircher6136 It all depends on the shirt size. What I always do is make a printed copy of the image and cut around it , put it on the shirt, and see. It's cheaper than ruining a shirt or vinyl. lol

    Soooo, wait you don't need to wash a new clothing item first?!?! I thought you needed to wash the clothing item (and dry without fabric softener) to remove all the chemicals and stuff from the fabric so the vinyl would stick better!!! Please confirm, as this will radically change my process!!!!
    All these years I've been washing onesies and t-shirts and then fighting with all of the adjusted seams being crooked and trying to figure out how to center it when all the seams don't run even anymore!!!

    • @Expressionsvinyls
      @Expressionsvinyls  7 лет назад +1

      You are exactly right. If you are having trouble with your HTV sticking I would wash before. Different clothing companies have different processes. There is no way to tell if it has been treated with something that will affect the htv sticking. I recommend it especially if you are selling these just to insure the best result as possible. I hate ironing but also ironing the entire shirt to get it as flat as possible helps. :)

    • @Expressionsvinyls

      You would be able to start with the size that is on the sleeve and adjust it to the size you are needing for the leggings.
