Apparently composer Mica Levi (Under The Skin, Jackie) worked on the soundtrack for this film but Jonathan Glazer decided to not use pretty much any of the songs and instead just use the horror background sounds of Auschwitz (screams, shots, dogs, etc.). I love Mica Levi's work but what a magnificent call. The sound design makes this film go from a drama to a horror. That being said I really hope they release Mica Levi's work as a separate album.
I think it was such a good choice for the movie but like you I really want to hear all Mica made as all of their work is incredible
I would love to hear it. Mica's soundtrack to 'Under the Skin' is haunting, and I've listened to it many times over the years.
I mean just the intro and end credits songs were enough, jesus
The use of music was poetic. Powerful, compact, expressing what was not being expressed.
Brilliant and brave music and direction.
I liked the film but was disappointed with the sounds coming from Auschwitz. They were not very noticeable, very muted and just didn't sound very real. To me it sounded like there were only a handful of people there at a time, it didn't give the feeling that there were thousands.
One of the most haunting works of cinema in recent years - maybe ever. I have never seen anything quite like it.
I am sorry to say i left the cinema during this film. I felt like i see the world as it really is, numb to everything that happens, including myself. I felt such shame.
The final scene of this film really hit me like a tonne of bricks, incredible directors choice. It’s certainly not for everybody, people going in expecting a depiction similar to Schindler’s list are going to be dare I say “underwhelmed” given the subject matter. But it’s a very quiet and subverted take on the horrors. Phycological horror at its finest. Kubrick style imagery and a hard hitting topic relevant to today’s current climate. Will be certainly going to see this again.
Can you tell me more about the final scene please?
@@rosalie331It's...Unexpected.
The greatest film since The Act of Killing. A rare and incredible movie
crazy that they share the same ending.
*spoiler alert*
the protagonist vomitted in guilt
I read The Jakarta Method and then after finishing it, I immediately watched The Act of Killing. It made it all the more horrifying.
The Act of Killing was a key reference point. Glazer had the cast watch it before production.
When will Mica Levi be releasing their score??? I NEED it
Sammme I loved the soundtrack
They say the best horror films wait to show their monsters. The Zone of Interest takes it one step further and never does. The result is one of the most haunting and unique theater experiences I've had in years.
The movie does nothing but showing the monsters. It's litterly the only things it does.

@@sebastiengerber146 You know exactly what I mean 🙄
@@romilrhactually I don’t. And I don’t mean that disrespectfully, I just really don’t understand what you mean by monsters, as the only thing the film shows are the monsters (the nazis).
@@sebastiengerber146 I can only assume he meant that the film doesn't show the monsters actually _doing the monstrous / doing the killing._ They only show the monster when in their lair caring for their children etc. Like a Xenomorph queen caring for her cute little Ovomorph eggs but not doing harm to nobody.
A demonstration of absolutely genius filmmaking. I've never seen anything like it. Will stick with me for a long time
Please release the OST & announce 4k date. ❤
Such an incredible film. Masterwork from Glazer and his brilliant cast.
Mica Levi score released when????
What an insane and brilliant way to make a film.
such a subtle understated movie that really packs a punch. Especially relevant for these times and makes you question a lot about yourself and everything else going on around you
That Real Estate Agent's sale pitch for this one😂

On Hulu
Sooo good
Incredible!!!
A different shape of to see the horror, the cruelty.... Simply dont show..... The rest Is in the mind of The people..... Jonathan Glazer, a director Amazing, Incredible......
I need to see this looks like good fun family adventure
Shouldn't you be under a bridge somewhere?
Give Nolan Director and let this upset Best Picture
Would love that so much
Fantastic movie, really draws you in, had me fully engaged, the sound editing was perfect, screams and shots haunting every scene, perfect, my fav movie of 2023 for sure!!
This is such a brilliant and powerful piece of art.
Loved this film, so grateful to everyone involved.
Grateful???? WHY?
a beautiful movie loved it
This movie was stunning.
The wife putting on the lipstick was the most horrifying and obscene scene for me
1:38 when you see a sign leading to the Auschwitz Museum, then you know how closely they filmed.
Very good 🎉
"A mirror of our lives now"
Actually shocking
seeing this movie now while can’t stop thinking about how the zionist literally has the same lifestyle as the nazis has
@@dandindan bro...
@@SeazBreeze he's right, tho
This movie is about class divide between Ultra rich and poor
Is that Eddie Glusking from Outlast ?
Any news about the blu ray release?
Astounding film...masterful in every way 🎉
My favorite line in this was "Perhaps he's wondering why you would feed and clothe prisoners that are about to die."
I watched it this weekend with my fiance. Generally, we were just quiet with a blank or concerned looks on our faces. You almost felt like you were on the line of dread and shredding tears. You basically ride that line the entire film.
The line for the death rollercoaster or the masturbation machine?
@@noogate2672What are you on about?
Und you vill LIKE IT!
will there be an official release for the gorgeous mica levi soundtrack?
Hedwig! You're not wearing your head wig! 😂
Huh
Does A24 have any plan on reaching the score
Saw it in the cinema yesterday. It was heavy, not at all a feel-good-movie like The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
Wouldn't even say the latter was a feel good movie haha...
Congrats on your 2 oscar awards, and came 3rd place for most awards
Like Million Dollar Baby, It is a movie that I purchased, will forever remember and never watch again....
release the OST plz :')
i love light comedies.
Came here after watching Sexy Beast, and I'm STOKED to see Glazer employed his Under the Skin method. Also not stoked for the story.
The Banality of Evil
Dschingis Khan armies may have slaughtered more people than Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler's combined.
In Eurovision Song Contest 1979 Germany wrote a funny song about him. Let that sink for a moment!
Pleeeeaaassssee tell us when the backrooms trailer will release 🙏🙏
When is the backrooms movie coming out?
Superhero movie of the year
What do you mean by this, exactly? I’m curious.
You mean the "supervillain"?
The neo Nazis are coming out in droves to see this one. As far as I'm concerned, I hope the movie is trashed.
How do Glazer & Wilson create such an extraordinary film & accept their Oscar 3.10.2024, then onstage refute their own Judaism?
‘Darkness is if you speak the truth then lie with your eyes, and if your eyes tell the truth, then lie with your mouth’.
What are your truths, Jonathan Glazer & James Wilson? And how do you release this magnificent film, then turn on your own?
We came to the era when Nazis and monsters will be revealed as normal,God forbid 😮
It’s not that they didn’t care about the Jews, they just tried to focus on themselves.
This will be disturbingly delicious 😋 😍 So from a reality show material they create a movie 🎥 with a VERY sensitive theme. 😏😱
bro fucking stop
Seriously?
Still waiting for MaXXXine...
That is completely irrelevant to this video, I’m afraid.
A little overrated... Maybe good idea in paper but not so much effective when you see it with your own eyes. The most shocking scene, I think, was the one that shows the remnants of the prisoners inside the museum and listlessness of the workers there. I wish to saw more of the night vision scenes with more stories of other characters.
the only people who like this film are the ones who didn't read the book... I'm actually convinced that JG didn't read the book also, just used a main idea from the book to drive the entire movie. EXTREMLY DISAPPOINTING
The best Nazi reality tv ever created
The fact of matter is that ” they ” can actually be în the gutter and claim the moral high ground🤔
It’s just sad that Russia is reliving history and wants to be like those guys. How can they be your inspiration, sick…
A film about of a family literally beating around the bush during the caust? Is that what this is?
Yes.
For anyone who has been to Auschwitz, you'll know that the Höss family home was so close to the camp that it was basically in the camp.
I suppose so. If you want to describe it in the simplest possible way then yes.
Yes also there is 30 minutes fight sequence between nazi robots and X-Men
Nothing to say about cinematography and directing and, before you come at me, yes, i understood the meaning of the movie, but to be honest i found it extremely boring. It could have simply been a 10 minutes short. This was the first time ever that i struggled to stay awake in a movie theather. 1h40min felt like 4h.. I don't get how people scream "masterpiece".
Yeah it was not that great, boring as anything
This film story about past and happened now
Hitler's victim become hitler it self. So pathetic
Stand up for his (director) speech at Oscar
Why are we humanizing concentration camp officers(s)?
To show that humans can become monsters?
you clearly haven't seen the movie
@@semantickascadesyt I also haven't read "Mein Kampf" and I have no interest in doing so, and there's nothing that will make me think Hitler (and all his Nazis) were anything less (or more) than filth and garbage to be reviled and spat upon.
The average iq of barbie movie enjoyer
Media literacy is STILL as at an all time low, I see.
That reminds us to FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸
How?
@farleytron I feel like all these movies that all the studios are putting out about what happened to the Jews and this story we all know only show us that what they're doing now to the Palestinians is exactly what they ran from to PALESTINE in the first place which is ironic because these movies are supposed make us understand this whole "right to defend itself" thingie, but honestly it's not doing it for me, the more I watch these films the more I get enraged because they should know better than to repeat history.
@@AnwarSaed-nr8xo Although I understand your anger towards the garbage people in the Israeli government and their atrocities in Palestine, it doesn't make this movie about the Israelis. This movie is an attempt to make a systematic genocide of an entire continent look banal and mundane. I find THAT repulsive.
Here's a simple "thought experiment".... imagine 10 years from now, a movie comes out from A24... and its about an Israeli Army General who lives a few miles from Gaza in a nice house, and listens to the sounds of innocent Palestinians being murdered, executed, raped, abused and their corpses burned. Would you think it was a good movie?
Ok, acting is clearly a skill, but these are not Brits landing at Normandy or Israli's entering a Hamas tunnel. They are playing make-pretend. So I don't get how they make this sound like such a huge deal.
Plenty of neo Nazis will be lining up to watch this "documentary", though... and probably cheering for the main characters. Disgusting.
We are all living in the zone of interest with respect to carbon-and many of us with respect to Gaza.
So overrated ...
A little... Maybe good idea in paper but not so much effective when you see with it your own eyes. Most shocking scene, I think, was the one that shows the remnants of the prisoners inside the museum and listlessness of the workers.
Honestly a joke of a movie, fight club and robocop ain’t in my top ten of movies I’m open minded and love a24 but this absolutely bored the death out of me, anyone who says this is good needs to get out more and stop jumping on the pretentious band wagon is was crap
It's okay if somebody likes this movie. Don't let that ruin your day...
or maybe it's possible that they had a different opinion than yours?
Thank you for the definitive take, random person on the internet who clearly missed the whole point.
No need to be insulting to people who genuinely appreciated this movie. Personally I'm obsessed with it ever since I saw it, can't stop thinking about it and feeling the movie under my skin. Is this a merit of the film or simply a sign I need to get out more? I don't think less of you or anyone who dislike this film, even if I don't understand why. Live and let live, ok?
@@erikparys3157 : I saw it yesterday and can't get it out of my mind. I have some unanswered questions: 1. what was the girl doing depositing shiny objects into the wall? Did Mrs. Hoess' mother and daughter run away?
