This Is Why I Always Ride With A Camera - DMV Harassment

- I don't care if you read the long description. Just please read before leaving a critical comment.
I filmed this using my Drift GHOST camera and not with a GoPro, since so many keep asking.
Before critiquing me, just try to think about this incident from a motorcyclist's perspective before calling me "impatient" or "in a hurry." If you listen to my voice when I speak to her, I am clearly calm and not angry or overly-irritated. However, the erratic and unpredictable driving by that van is highly serious to us motorcyclists, as it puts us at great risk. When she stopped me in the middle of a green light, my first thought is "Quick! Get over to safety before I'm rear-ended by a distracted driver." This is why I made that move to the right both times. I wasn't trying to pass or be aggressive; I was trying to get to safety because the moron driver kept stopping when they shouldn't have. It's a common move you will see many motorcyclists make. I honked the horn to make all drivers around me know where I was, and it is legally warranted when in dangerous situations like these. I don't have the same protection in a steel cage that cars do and I have to take my safety extra seriously. Please think on that before judging my actions from a non-biker perspective. I want to raise awareness about the level of alertness and vigilance motorcyclists have to maintain on a constant basis. More consistent video uploads will be posted when my channel goes live next summer.
Second, I will concede that my following distance in the first turn could have been slightly larger. While I maintain that I kept a safe distance, I would have allowed for an extra half second or so, had I been able to do it over again.
Thirdly, please know that this video is not about me being perfect. I am a human and I make mistakes all the time and admit them. Even if you believe that I rode like a complete idiot, this video is mainly about the DMV worker overstepping her bounds and threatening me when her position warrants no such action. It was harassment, no matter how you look at it.
Fourth, if it wasn't clear in the video, I stopped in the parking lot because I had DMV matters to take care of. A lot of commenters seem to think I pulled over to have a discussion. Trust me, the last thing I was looking for was a confrontation.
Finally, I am open to your opinions in the comments. If you read through them, you will see many debates and disagreements. I only ask that you be respectful. I have left up a few battered trolls to make a fun example, but seriously, keep it professional or I'll just ban you. I don't need filth on my page.
Last note: for those of you who will say that I should have given the drivers license applicant more grace because they are new, I have this response: if you are supposed to be taking a test that authorizes you to operate a motor vehicle on public streets, you should already be competent enough to drive that vehicle smoothly and correctly. If you can't do that, then you shouldn't be on the roads with the potential to get a lot of people hurt or killed, including us motorcyclists who are the most common victims of driver unawareness. If you can't handle it, then it's back to parking lots, driving school, and coached driving until you're ready. Getting and keeping a license is an earned privilege, not a given right.
::UPDATE::
I'm adding the California Vehicle Codes related to this video. The driver easily violated these four codes, and probably many more. What's worse, the DMV worker admits in the video that she took the wheel and caused this herself. She should know better.
(For those saying I turned too far to the right in the first turn)
"CVC 21717. Whenever it is necessary for the driver of a motor vehicle to cross a bicycle lane that is adjacent to his lane of travel to make a turn, the driver shall drive the motor vehicle into the bicycle lane prior to making the turn and shall make the turn pursuant to Section 22100 [general turning regulations]."
"CVC 22100. Except as provided in Section 22100.5 or 22101, the driver of any vehicle intending to turn upon a highway shall do so as follows:
(a) Right Turns. Both the approach for a right-hand turn and a right-hand turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway."
"CVC 22108. Any signal of intention to turn right or left shall be given continuously during the last 100 feet traveled by the vehicle before turning."
(at 0:21 you can clearly see the van driver doesn't even signal to turn right until after they came to a complete stop)
"CVC 22400. (a) No person shall drive upon a highway at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic...
No person shall bring a vehicle to a complete stop upon a highway so as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic unless the stop is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law."
A DMV worker is not an law enforcement officer!
Right. I would NOT give her my numberplate.
I would've straight laughed in her face and told her to stop pretending to be a cop
Anyone who has a government position and holds it over peoples heads should immediately be revoked of that
If you ever come into contact with a government functionary who has power over your life - or at least believes they do - you should automatically genuflect and issue a profuse apology (verbal first, then written), ideally punctuated with tears and a cracking voice. This woman had the power to pull out a revolver and execute you on the spot, but she exhibited incredible restraint and chose not to - just remember that!
@@philgerm164 That woman didn't have the power to do a damn thing. I work at a DMV. Your either incredibly stupid or your just poking fun.
Trump is trying to drain that swamp, but they all have unions
@@faradaysage15 and it would be delt with fast if the all the lawsuits and settlements every year came from the police unions funding instead of tax dollars
@@beth4893 I think you are if you cannot detect that dripping sarcasm in the text.
Haha how cute, she was gonna draw his mistakes like if he was actually being tested by her. Hahaha that's so adorable.
Ikr? Power went to her head.
She's drunk on power ever since she escaped the Wonka Factory and joined the human workforce xD
Clorox Bleach is that you in the video is that your so butt hurt triggered??
LOL OMFG SHE IS SUCH A BITCH
IKR? he should have kicked her in her twat
Awww that's cute that she thinks that she has the power to revoke a liscence how adorable 🙈🙈🙈
She wishes she had.
Example of a person with even a Little Power, abusing that power. She works for the "Drivers License Office" and she would have used her contacts to try to ruin this guy over nothing. That's why you need to keep Government Small, people like this and the TSA abuse the little power they think they have over you.
+TheAsianRepublican The fact that she got this annoyed over something so small, when in reality the student driver was obviously not very comfortable on the road is stupid. When you are a driver you expect drivers to be at a certain standard, when they're not (like the student) it throws you off because they become unpredictable, like overly stopping before making a simple turn. Normaly you dont see that.
This! Exactly This!
You're right...
+TheAsianRepublican says:
"people like this and the TSA abuse the little power........."
==
TSA is a private contractor.
allgoo19 The TSA is a government agency under Dept of Homeland Security. they can hire contractors and the contractors are bestowed the same powers to enforce ,powers the government gives them. www.tsa.gov/

dude just imagine your married to that thing
LOL
Ew!
Drawing pictures of how you should do it in bed 'This is how you did it, it was all wrong, now try again like this.'
I don’t think men would want to marry someone like her that’s if you have extremely low standards to the point where you would marry a homeless person lol.
END ME
I would hope she was reprimanded by her job for seriously overstepping her authority, she's not a cop, she works for the friggen DMV.
Sup
Friggen btw
No one likes the DMV. But when she made the threat I would have followed here into the building and confronted her and her boss. This is outrageous.
yeh right! maybe you should know that driving is a privilege and not a right. This guy is an offensive driver, even his bike is not equipped in a proper way, i.e side mirror. I challange anyone who can prove me wrong!
does not matter even if he drives aggressive or not. She is NOT a cop, she is a DMV driving test instructor. Only cops can write tickets for anything.
What if the dude on the bike had a gun? Now she's put herself and her test taker in great danger.
Get a grip dude, it was not that big a deal to begin with.
+GETREAL! mirrors aren't required in California for motorcycles. Most of them don't have them to make lane splitting safer...
Um, ok...what if he had a gun? I carry one all the time. I've never pulled it on anyone, nor will I unless I am drawn upon, even then it is a last resort, not a first reaction. Having a gun does not automatically make someone a loose canon. No pun intended.
+GETREAL! the Biker did not do anything bad. And the thing you called Aggressive in the video? Did not look aggressive to me.
There are more Aggressive driver's out there who lane split the shit out of traffic...... Check RoyalJordanian as a start. And its legal even.
The Car driver which was a Learner. And for the love of... They should really start to make people use L Plates in the USA. The driver was acting odd even watching it in the video.
Oh my gosh! I love the fact that she gave in immediately upon learning that you were recording the entire thing. She was experiencing a degree of road rage, and good for you for keeping your cool. See how recording helps us retain out composure? Great job and a lesson for all
Well thank you. What a nice compliment.
Next time don't be so passive with her. Don't tell her you have a camera on. Let her go spew lies, because you know she will. She also would have lied in court if she was pressed. Then you bring the footage to your lawyer, sue her and everyone who supported her with false testimony. At list bring charges against them.
Deno Moto your so right same happened with my cousin
That is what I was thinking. Let her dig the hole deeper, then reveal video at later appropriate time and nail her.
Dash cams and helmet cams always save the day
Not positive but I'm pretty sure it's illegal to record someone without notifying them you are doing so
Covio dash cams can't see faces unless someone gets out of their car in which case you should notify someone you're recording them
"im a public employee, i took a twenty question test on a machine to get my job at dmv and im going to have your license revoked". save us from the genius public employees.
You have such a calm voice .. love it!
;)
Why does everyone keep commenting about my voice?
dirtyketchup idk it's just very soothing lol :p and usually when things like this happen people get mad and you weren't ,you were chill the whole time!
Betsy Talledo Well, then thank you. :)
dirtyketchup you're welcome :)
***** Lol, didn't know there *was* such a thing,
A113. I take it you're a PIXAR fan.
She does not have the power to do any of the things she said. She is not a cop.
+xpat73 Exactly. I guess some people here are really gullible. haha
+Jim Morrison guess she on her period
+xpat73 Ye right i don't understand why he was worried about it
Well technically you can, you could get a license plate number and report it. All she was doing is getting info to give to the cops AND NO!! I am not on her side, I am just saying
+xpat73 your comment reminds me of darth vader for some reason
she's DMV worker, not a police officer, nothing she could have done anyway
+Shane Cheatham
She could report him to police that he did something not allowed, cut people off, they wouldnt need evidence they would just fine him because she's "DMV WOKER", atleast in my country.
Well there that would've worked. In my state the highway patrol has officers that do testing. They could probably issue tickets. That said this kid didn't do anything wrong at all. she was trying to inflate herself to be some awesome symbol of law and order and she doesn't even know the laws.
What she gonna do, fail his driving test lmao
i love it, great video. that lady has no authority to do anything to you or your license. she is a power tripper & she should be terminated as a gov. employee
agreed!
Misuse of horn is not honking to inform a driver they have right of way and stopping traffic. Want to see misuse see "train horn prank" videos.
but then would she be a Government employee because isn't mandatory to power trip when employed by the MAFIA/Government
+Christopher Harris and so she believes she can revoke his license for that. She can get bent. At most its a ticket.
Gov employees don't get terminated. They get promoted.
Wow, that was crazy. I'm glad you had everything recorded. The DMV worker was confused about what was going on and the person in the van didn't know how to drive safely; her driving was horrible.
what does she know about riding a motorcycle anyway?
James Cavazos most likely
Kate ooooooohhhhh
Watch he be a badass biker lady that rides around on her husbands chopper all day.
The rules of the road are the rules of the road, your vehicle is irrelevant. Everyone has to abide by road laws or it's illegal, simple as.
Jim Dailey she needs to be riding a elliptical
As a fellow motorcyclist, I have to say, you did a FANTASTIC job of keeping yourself safe. The driver in front of you was terrible and put you at risk. Your quick thinking and actions are the least I would expect from a competent motorcyclist. Many blessings to you sir!
You shouldn't have been that polite. You should have said, "I don't give a damn what you think. You are not a cop. You can't do jack to me and if you do I will sue you. And I oh by the way, I have it all on video?" She is not a cop. She is nothing. She can't do anything to you. She can't get points put on your record. She can't get your license revoked. Let her feel big and powerful all she wants. Let her report whatever she wants. She can't do anything. If she called the cops, the cop would tell her, "Sorry we didn't see it so we can't give a citation." Tell her where to go and walk away from her. I can't stand people that pretend to have power when they have none.
You are the type of person that makes matters worse.
+Ares Vice so true
Ares Vice Really? Because I refuse to bend over to someone who has no power? OK you obey idiots on the street then. I won't but if you want to, go for it.
Tiffany Blatz Not true. Stand up for yourself and quit being pushed around by people. You must be a person that doesn't have much confidence and/or likes to be told what to do.
Did I say anything about obeying anyone? Your lack of critical thinking shows your stupidity.
You were in the right. You were calm and had proof.

You give somebody a minivan and a clipboard and they think they own the road
Give somebody a motorcycle endorsement and they think that they actually know what they're doing. Because riding around in a circle and being able to shift gears = skill. Being able to make a u-turn = super ultra-cool guy skill. And that's not even considering what happens if you know the outside-inside-outside trick.

My uncle was killed at a red light on his motorcycle by a distracted driver. Good move to get out of the way
My dad was hit in the back while stopped at a red light and thrown across the intersection because the driver was not paying attention, luckily he escaped with only a collapsed lung, heavily bruised ribs and a fractured collarbone. My condolences for your uncle.
How can i register with you Brittney........i'd like to get registered :)
"Im just gonna check your liscence"
Me:so....youre roleplaying as a cop...?
You got the whole squad laughing 😐
Shes not a law enforcement officer, you do not need to talk to her. I would have simply walked away.
I'd be tempted to paraphrase Glenda the witch from The Wizard of Oz; "Silly witch, you have no power over me, be off!" while waving my hand dismissively.
simply walking away would be too good for her .. have to get a good fart brewing first, wait till she opens her trap...rip'n'walk :p
@AdariousMistdancer I must remember not to stand behind you if we meet in a elevator lol 😆
Shouldn't learner cars have signs which tell other drivers that they are learners? In the UK we use L plates and we avoid learner drivers like the plague XD
+Dentures Ventures Gawd I wish. Sadly here in the states, we don't have that kind of sense.
+dirtyketchup lol, Someone better do that because I thought that English people were just rude most of the time
+Dentures Ventures I don't know about other states, but in mine (Virginia), there are signs on cars (either on top or labeled on the side) to indicate that the driver is a learner. Don't know about license plates with reserved letters or other indicators, but mostly, you can easily tell from the signs.
+Dentures Ventures Agreed
There are states where the DMV has a magnet that will say "STUDENT DRIVER" that they will put on when there's a driving test in progress. California is one of them. We aren't stupid as you imply. Unfortunately, there are incompetent people that inhabit every part of the world, not just in the U.S.
Just because you are a biker ...
This should be racism ...
***** im now going to use #bikeism for any people who hate bikes aswell as #droneism for those nut fucks thinking we want to see their tits flying adrone around to catch a view of the land.
jeshua leblanc seems like there are a lot more people that saw that piece of... natural scenery :P
lol
Riding bikes doesn't qualify as a race of humans.
+Dapper Hako it should
I'm not a big commenter on RUclips but in your description you evoked a reaction from me. Myself not being a motorcycle rider your words certainly opened my eyes to the real concerns you must go through. Bikes scare me. In the few times I have straddled one (not on public roads) the lack of surrounding protection put a fear in me that is second to none. But having never driven on shared roads I imagined that after getting accustomed to the lack of protection there was no warrant for fear on the street. That was until I read your description. It has resonated with me and encouraged me to further my awareness for how close I am to riders, my attention to distances, and respect of their concerns. Thank you for opening my eyes.
When my husband and I were younger, his brother and many of our friends rode Harleys. We had the truck that hauled around the big stuff for whatever get-together was happening. We always brought up the rear in order to keep ourselves between them and other drivers who would tailgate and harass them however. We also sat much higher and could see far enough ahead to warn of any dangerous situations they'd be coming up on. We used hand signals for this and even these days will do the same for any bikers we encounter. If everyone would just be decent and concerned for you folks on the road, but...Nah, that won't happen. Stay safe and continue to drive defensively!
This may have been uploaded a year ago, but i gotta say, you handled the situation very well, from what i could see you were in the right and i applaud you for keeping so calm and cool (i used to live in California and i know it gets pretty anger filled out there) GodBless you for showing others that if you handle a situations calmly you will go farther and get better results.
Thanks Darius, that compliment really means a lot.
You know what's really been tripping me out? The popularity bar has been at almost *exactly* 90% this entire time. Every time I look at it, it's almost perfectly even. As of this posting, it's 4,424:443
***** Well hey, thanks for commenting. You bet your ass I'm starting a motovlog! I have a full-time job and am moving at the moment, so I'm just trying to make sure all the editing and everything is good to go first. I don't want to officially launch my channel and have it flop. I want this done right. So yes, I am absolutely starting up a motovlog. I'm going to try to do something a little different. I don't want to just copy all the other guys like Jake and Chase. I plan release at least 1, if not 2, videos a week. It's gonna be so fun. :)
Keep your eyes peeled.
***** Well thanks. I sure hope so. This could be a lot of fun.
Listen I love motorcycles I have since I was a baby when I started riding, in the description you mentioned that you hadn't the luxury of a steel cage to protect you, serriously dude dont play that card, you made the decision to not drive a car if you wanted a steel cage sell your bike and by a car my point being you made that decision yourself.
Josh Albis Fair enough. I have altered the description. I wasn't trying to play any kind of card. I was merely trying to say that bikes have less protection which means I have to be even more aware to stay safe. I wasn't trying to bitch or moan.
Josh Albis obviously you don't love them as much as others so don't play that card
I really like how respectful you were
Women are out of control with their false allegations. I think it is time to prosecute them, every chance one gets.
How on earth you maintain your patience with this fat, mouthy bint, I do not know. Just goes to show that where we're heading in this world ... where women always think they're right ... even when they're obviously wrong.
Yes, female false allegations are way out of control. They are always so quick to run to government for whatever power they can get. They call the cops when they're angry at their boyfriend, always voting for more female only laws, seeking these kinds of useless government jobs and getting drunk on the little bit of power granted to them.
Enough is enough! Time to at least start talking honestly about this!
nonyabeezwaxbiatch It's funny how you people label equality "sexist"!
You want your Female Privilege left intact and even increased as you throw men under the bus.......and THAT is what you mean by equality.
You're obviously the real sexist here. If you cared about truth and justice you'd support punishing false allegations. As it stands, women ROUTINELY hurl false allegations at men and receive ZERO punishment while the innocent men have their reputation ruined for life.
Misandry does NOT mean equality!
We are not at all anti women; no we are anti feminist and anti privilege. We believe in equality.
The anger you sense is a result of misandry.
Yet she parked in a no parking area. FAIL
If you had the footage or not, nothing would have happened. She takes kids out for their drivers test.
+Brian J I was thinking the same thing. She isn't in any authority position, just some busy-body old hag trying to throw weight around that she doesn't even have.

you handled the situation very well and your description helps understand more what it's like. that lady was completely wrong and was just angry that something wasn't going her way. if that "new driver" couldn't even brake in a way safe to drivers behind, then don't let them drive on the street at all and keep it in a parking lot.
Wow that was amazing. You stayed so calm, I applaud you! That lady probably just felt like she held all of the power against you, since she worked there. I would've gotten pretty frustrated with her. 👏👏👏 Cheers to you. 👍
Just a head up to everyone. Trolling or spamming will get you blocked. Thanks.
Oh the arrogance of some women, it's insane.
I would’ve walked off
I would've drove off.
The learner was almost at a complete stop on a right hand turn at a green light? You were right to honk. Slowing down that much at a green light could get you rear ended, and that would be even worse off for you since you were stuck behind them. Then they, again, came to almost a complete stop while taking ANOTHER right turn when they have the full right of way. You weren't being impatient and you were still plenty far enough behind the vehicle. You were simply honking at them because they were obstructing the flow of traffic by slowing down that much. The only way I could justify slowing down that much on a green light is when it is a very slim two lane road, which it is clearly a wide one. That was absolutely ridiculous.
If one were to get onto you for pulling off further to the right side at the light, all you were doing was moving over so that your reduced speed at the light would not block the flow of traffic.
Mario Barajas
they told me to never ever do that. its in our test im pretty sure. you just have to drive cause if the lights green you have right of way.
Artsy Scrub im not sure if I'm misunderstanding you or you me. I'm saying you should go on the green. not halt. But if for whatever reason you could not take the turn without slowing down you should at least move further to the right for people to go around. I'm not saying you should slow down or stop on a green. I'm just saying that if, say, a car was impeding partially in the lane you were turning into and you couldnt simply turn in, you would require a reduced speed to make the turn required to make it into your lane, you should not stay in the middle of the intersection and should instead be courteous and move a little farther to the right while you reduce your speed (unless there is a bike path or something then obviously dont) because if you slow down excessively on a green light (though the person behind you should be watching) it is best to try to get a little closer to the right side
Mario Barajas
You can slow a little but this person basicly stopped at the green light
Artsy Scrub yes, i know haha. its you that misunderstood i see. I was with the biker. The learner was completely in the wrong. Note my "You were right to honk" and "Slowing down that much at a green light could get you rear ended"

What's with the overly emotional reaction? Chill out.
word on my man
Yah, the DMV is not very sympathetic and they're just very rude people in general. I went to the Laguna Hills DMV to take my drivers license test and had my lesson canceled because of a broken brake-light. The thing was, they were also pounding the brake-light. I don't know if they were hitting it to make it work, or if they did it on purpose. Nonetheless, they are very intimidating. I will be taking my drivers license test in 5 days now and hope nothing bad happens again. The DMV is run by the government, so they can pretty much be as mean as they want I guess. Gosh the DMV freaks me out...
***** Agreed, he needs to let them see this video, she is putting lives at risk.
I think you handled that really well, as a fellow biker I want to say you handled what way better than I would've. Thanks for being one of the good bikers around. 😊
I don't like riding motorcycles, so I don't know what its like to ride one out in traffic. However, where I live there are bikers in traffic constantly during the Spring, Summer, and Autumn, and mostly they drive very cautiously. I've actually seen that slide to the right move countless times when someone stops short of the biker in front of my car, and it makes sense to me that you would have done that (cuz I used to drive a friggen boat. ). I don't understand why that woman was, for lack of a better phrase, freaking out all over you. If you weren't there to take a test (and since the fault does seem to lie with the driver of the car) then she had no right.
+Chimisaurusaur Glad to hear there are others out there who get why we move to the right. It just becomes habit out of instinctual survival skills when you're on two wheels.
no one cares that you drive a boat its a motorcycle that he is driving
+dirtyketchup Absolutely agree.. It is out of habit.. and it is a great habit to have and to keep. I've done it so many times. It is a precautionary measure .
That woman was an A**hole. Glad you had the video or it would have been her word over yours. You were very polite and respectful. Thanks for this video. Your regulations under the video were very useful. Keep on keepin on. Ketchup..( Yamaha 50cc rider)
+Chimisaurusaur She miss good fuck!
+dirtyketchup clever rider.....I would ride a motorcycle but I see no real need to, I prefer cars or just walking
anyways it's nice to watch videos of people on motorcycles
Hey Dirty,
I wanted to take some time and tell you a couple things and hope you hear them. First off man good video, I love how you remained calm the entire time man, I need to take lessons from you. Secondly man, I have only ever seen this video of yours. First and only video I have seen of yours to date, BUT You earned me as a sub, for a huge reason. When you do respond to the comments, you are the only youtuber I have ever seen that never uses profanity, low ball tactics, or illogical reasoning to get your point. Your comments are always calm and proving a point. For that man I thank you, and hope I can raise my son to be as polite as you are man.
Thanks man keep up the good work, Oona
Wow. What an exceptional compliment. Thank you so much. To be fair, I do use curse words now and then, but never to harm someone. I do find them useful if I think they will convey what I believe to be the appropriate message. Once again, only used within reason.
But seriously, thanks for the kind words. I work in customer service and am not easily rattled by these situations. Plus, the camera helps as well. I used to be an angry kid and lash out at people. My father taught me to be narcissistic and cruel. Thankfully, his example showed me what I did not want to become, and I've worked hard to control myself. No one is perfect, but I am thankful that I have enough patience to deal with a person like that lady. People here say that I am anxious because of my honking, but they don't understand that the poor driving from the van is very dangerous, and I was more concerned about that than anything else.
I'll do what I can to post more videos soon and talk more about the proper attitude while on the road.
A women teaching someone how to drive! Ha! That's funny as hell!
It's said how people can go from smart to patrick in just 4 seconds
Wow. This DMV employee was a total control freak! You were riding fine. The person taking the test was driving very badly (and apparently so was the DMV "tester," seeing as she took the wheel!!!!!). Please tell me whoever was taking the test was not allowed to pass!!!!
It amazes me how people think that because you ride on two wheels, you can somehow stop more quickly, but the opposite is true. I don't ride (except as a passenger) but a lot of my friends do. Most drivers are completely unaware of motorcyclists and put them in danger all the time. I make sure I watch out for you guys! :-)
Thanks for looking out. It's too bad there are so few riders in this country. Other countries have more bikes than cars, and the drivers are used to looking out for motorcyclists, but not here.
dirtyketchup Yup! It's one of the reasons I don't ride. My biological father was killed by a driver who turned left in front of him. (On top of that, I am a total klutz, which doesn't help . . . . )
Dude, you were so calm and that lady was unprofessional.
I know. It makes her look like even more of a bitch, huh?
Really glad that I came upon this. Becky failed me on my driving test for going too slow under the speed limit (45 in a 50), which I immediately thought was unusual.
I've wondered for almost 2 years now whether I was just pointing the blame at her for my failure, or if she was just a bitch.
Now I know the answer 👍
Big thanks to +dirtyketchup for uploading and other comments saying they got failed for the same reason, you let me confirm my belief that she is in fact "Bitchy Becky."
She made me feel very small after telling me to "come back when I know how to drive."
I guess that is her life goal.. To make others feel as small as her 😭😭😭😂😂👌
Wow. I am so shocked by the number of people who have run into her and identified her as Becky. So fascinating. I'm glad you feel vindicated. Hope you finally got your license, which is the best revenge.
Lol I got it 2 weeks after she failed me. Longest 2 weeks of my life though hahaha
She obviously hates her life. It's evident in how she acts. Lol, she is miserable, so she wants to make everyone else miserable. Misery loves company and she is it personified. I feel bad for her honestly.
I can't stand people who are in a position of authority and think they can intimidate you with it. You did a great job! I've not driven but one motorcycle it was a Harley 250cc and a 150cc scooter and I can tell you people do not see you at times, and they don't think about you on the bike and giving you distance you need to be safe, or not making sudden stops without indicating what they are doing. I think you did awesome.
You know what's funny? I just did a quick google search for the woman that yelled at me in this video, Becky. Turns out she's pretty infamous. Found lots of links talking about her:
www.customerlobby.com/reviews/8338/teen-driving-academy/review/68558/
facebook.com/waltersdrivingacademy/photos/a.129800270445134.29183.126391544119340/698710670220755/?type=1
That's pretty cool, but be careful what you say, it could be considered "libel slander" which could be used against you in court if you say things about their company. Stay off their turf. They've been dragged over the coals already. Ease off the gas camp easy. :) We know what she is. It's obvious to anyone with an IQ over a hundred lol They would love a taste of revenge. Be careful with that one. I like that video, messing with wrong driver. That's what I'd like to do sometimes. That would solve the problem. Right? roflmao :) Be cool. I think you just got lead into hornets nest with those links you just found though. If you do anything to hurt their business, it's considered "libel slander," which means that you robbed them of business. Don't do it guy. Stay out of the spider web. "}:---)
LOL
Stupid lady, really cool how you kept your cool though. You were very polite dispite her being so hostile
Take the time to give all this info to the local news. She needs to be called out. Maybe someone watching will have relief knowing it wasn't just them, that a very bitter lady and lier is the real problem.
Randall Woosley You're not appearing to understand the situation. The woman works for the DMV, not any business. I'm not harming any business by pointing out that there are websites naming similar circumstances with the same woman. If anything, the people who post on those websites would be the ones liable for what they say, not the one who posts the link. But that's not the point; she works for a government organization and there is no legal ramifications for simply posting experiences relating to this government employee.
The van is dangerous. They slowed in the middle of their turn which is retarded and then they didn't signal their INTENTION they signalled their turn.
Yeah, it seems like that part of driving is either being taught wrong or the younger drivers of today just don't understand. But nobody signals intent anymore, they just flip the directional/signal/whatever you call it in your region and turn the wheel as if they're all one action. It's so dangerous to people paying attention, but a lot of us (myself included) drive with distractions despite warning against it
what you mean is that back in the day they taught to signal BEFORE you try turning instead of signaling half way into it.
i signal at least half a block before every turn in town driving. I don't know why people don't do that shit still. If it isn't some douche bag pulling out just a few feet in front of your car it's douche bags that signal mid turn.
When my mother taught me how to drive she told me to always activate the turn signal no less than 100 feet from where I'm intending to turn. I'm 20 years old and have been driving for 2 years now.
well yes that is the law in america, where i live it is just 3 seconds before you start to turn(so probably a similar distance)
I need to get a GoPro!
Highly agree with your detailed and precise description. You are absolutely correct.👍🏻
Keep sending these messages, people should know.
she doesn't have any authority to revoke or mark down your driving record. She was just bullying you from her low level position of power.
I would have wanted a personal apology from the driving instructor to put her in her place, and to teach her that you can't bully or intimidate people just because you "think" you know the rules of the road.
2 options:
1- She is unable to drive properly, not even close to a bad driver.
2- She was trolling you because she is a gremlin and hates everybody.
I truly understood everything you did! My first drivers license was for a motorcycle and I rode for several decades. Honking the horn will save your life or as we always said "loud pipes save lives" and they did more than once! Excellent idea to wear a camera wish I had one back in my day! Those oil spots ARE dangerous to motorcycles! I miss riding but I have my memories...
So glad you had the video cam!!! Good for you! I think I'm going to follow your example...
Best of luck to you, Doc.
Since moving to California I have never encountered so many hesitant, non-law following, unable to drive in any kind of precipitation squirrels behind the wheels of motor vehicles in my life. SF and the Bay area is particularly awful, and the bicylists who don't think stop signs apply to them aren't helping.
As a native of the Bay Area I can agree with you from experience. And you're right some cyclist don't help.
Lol, ya. Don't even get me started on cyclists.
I would not think she would have that kind of authority to revoke your license. Even a cop would not have that authority, only a judge can revoke your license. It is called separation of duties.
He drives that motorcycle so damn smoothly! I want one!!
I hate people who drive like her. You're driving, then all of a sudden she stops in the middle of the road. I seen your hand movement."What the hell!" Then they put on a turn signal. You DO NOT just stop in the middle of the damn road!
she was the passenger. driver was a teenager taking their driver's test, so the driving behavior makes sense
Jim Spencer or Utah
I ride a bicycle, and DO agree VEHEMENTLY with what you did, AND how you acted, as it was VERY reasonable! I ALSO cite videos like this, when I tell other people of the reason why I am getting a helmet cam! Your last sentence REALLY made a GREAT point, as it said "Can you imagine the nightmare I would've gone through if I didn't have any evidence?" It only takes an INSTANT to cost you money for something you WOULD'NT have had to pay for in the FIRST PLACE had you owned a helmet cam! Hence, the reason I'm getting one! Hopefully nothing happens while I'm waiting for it to get here!
Thanks for the detailed comment and support. Stay safe out there.
If you don't mind, I'd like to share something from the perspective of a motorcyclist. I sympathize with bicyclists and their struggles on the road. I know how common it is for cars not to see those of us on two wheels, but there is one thing that a lot of bicyclists do that just ticks me off. A lot of places here in the states, there are bicycle lanes so that cars and bikes don't have to use the same lanes, but a lot of times, cyclists choose to ride right on the edge of their line, especially if they're in a group. This makes a lot of cars want to go very wide and even bleed over into the next lane. What ends up happening to me a lot is a group of cyclists coming in the opposite direction are too wide, and the traffic passing them will go wide around them. This causes them to actually cross the double yellow dividing line and come at me head on. It happens more than you would think. Anyway, if you see any of your brethren who do this, maybe help us out and share this perspective.
Thanks! I usually ride alone, on shared paths (or bike paths ONLY, for that matter) and I've noticed cycle riders doing JUST as you mentioned, and riding 2-5 (5 when space permits it) abreast, and it annoys me, as well! IF I can do ANYTHING about it, I PROMISE I will! I will also try to get them to see it from your perspective, or other drivers! THAT'S why I worry that drivers despise, or ridicule those on 2 wheels!
***** Well, perhaps you're right on the horn issue, but I know about drivers' disrespect of those riding/driving vehicles with two wheels as all I ride is a bicycle. I have no car or motorcycle, and intend on using my vidcam to capture people cutting me off, as I HAVE gotten up to 30mph going downhill on a very few occasions.
Since I was advised by the local police that I should ride on the street, and obey all traffic laws (like stopping at red lights instead of going through them, using hand signals to indicate a turn, etc.) I am doing my best to stay true to them.
I also have a 115db air-horn on my bicycle, and it has come in VERY helpful on VERY many occasions.
I watched the video again after reading your comment, and all I can REALLY agree with, is the mention you made of his usage of the horn, I still don't fully agree with what you said, but I can see your reasoning behind why you said it.
Still, he didn't know it was a driver taking their test, and the woman who got out of the car DID overreact a bit, but all in all, it WAS an honest mistake.
Also, I AM going to look up and study the traffic laws where I am while I'm waiting for my helmet cam to come.
She had no right to criticize you like that. You weren't even in violation of anything.
If anything what she did was an act of road rage.
He slowed down to allow her to turn right and did not "nearly cut her off on the right." He was hugging his right side to indicate he was also turning right. Using a horn is necessary when you are attempting to prevent an accident. He was being cautious as bikers are very hard to see, and it is much harder for a motorcyclist to make a sudden stop. Granted, the second horn was probably out of rage, but she was being very abrupt and unsafe. And it was uncalled for that came up to him and threatened him. I wouldn't call all her actions "by the book."
Since I have ridden motorcycles as well, it's much harder to keep balance when you're going into a near dead stop, the way the driver (which I assume was young for a driving test so not totally her fault) slowed almost to a dead stop during her turns could be dangerous to the biker as well. I wouldn't have been so nice to her, I would have tried to explain it to her, but when she cut me off like she did him I'd have told her fuck off and been done talking to her.
dekatch read the description dumbass
dekatch well to ME, it looks like he's just closer to the curb then the van. So they probably thought he was going to cut them but he didnt.. he was behind them the whole time. Lady was probably on her period that day... I'm glad he had a camera.
You did great! I am glad you made it to your destination safe and alive❤
Keep recording 👍
Mmm gotta love people in a position of minimal power who try and rule the world.
Demi gods.
Its all they have in their pathetic lives, they gotta make the most of it I guess.
Took the words out of my mouth. I bet she was freaking out the person she was giving the driving test to. She should of stuck to her job of giving a test and being a stereotypical DMV hag, instead of acting like a fake cop. She looks like the dwarf from the Lord of the rings.
c merchant Lol,
"You have my sword."
"And you have my bow."
"And my CLIPBOARD!"
Nice supra
You did nothing wrong and were respectful too. Wish more riders were like you. It would raise the public oppinion of all bikers.
I would love that.
should have let her catch some hands.
-,' RED ',- it would have been hilarious to see that
My G Chef
Bro you got saved and this is exactly the reason I want a dashcam in my car, for protection and proof. Nice job and at least you pressed stop after all the nonsense haha. Nice vid
In order:
1. Lil Hitler acknowledges she had to take control of the car.
2. "New" (horrible) driver was in violation of the traffic codes you cited in your summary.
3. There are no rules or liability to adhere to vehicle code laws on private property. There are sections to defeat reckless or impaired driving, but you did neither.
4. Lil Hitler had no reason to confront you. Typical state worker.
Excellent summary
As a bicyclist who also drives a car about once a week for five or twenty miles, I shudder when I think of the times I didn't see a bicyclist while driving. I am very aware that others need to see me when I'm bicycling, and yet I have made the same error or mistake quite a few times. It's just plain hard to see bicyclists AND I HAVE A BICYCLIST'S MENTALITY.
Motorcyclists are a bit easier to see than bicyclists, but not by much.
Did you honk a bit too much? Maybe. As a bicyclist I have the option of just escaping to the sidewalk or across parking lots whenever the spirit moves me. And I do!! You can't tell me where to take my bicycle, and ha ha to all of that because it's not a joke: actually when I cut across areas where others would get a ticket but I don't it's quite often that I make that cut to avoid being hit by a car. Motorcyclists can't do the same, so maybe that you use your horn more than I ring my bell is cool and unavoidable. Ride on, bro.
TheMrbeasely
This is true, but seriously...in this situation ESPECIALLY given that the driver made 2 unsafe maneuvers (which in CA, at least, results in an automatic FAIL of the driving test. A friend in HS failed for rolling over the crosswalk and stopping at the second line) the assessor should have been WELL aware of the mistake(s) her student driver made. No wonder drivers are sucking more and more. There are shit assessors pumping shit drivers onto the road. Territorial driving should never be part of the driving test, but she just taught the student exactly that. I couldn't help but notice that it was very female to try and stick up for her female student driver as well. Even if the assessor didn't intend on acting upon her threats toward the rider's driving record, the act of yelling at the guy made her buddy-buddy feel better and that emotional connection is probably half the reason she got out and "stuck up" for the student driver in the first place. Clouded judgement much?! Scares the living shit out of me that these people are allowed to operate 4000lb battering rams.
so is the drift ghost lest visible than the go pro or not
Yes, it definitely is less obvious. Way better looking for sure.
The more fun thing to do in this situation is let her talk for a while say nothing and then take your helmet off and say, "Oh I didnt hear a word you were saying, I had my helmet on." And then let her repeat herself and then just say hang on, put the helmet back on.
It frustrates me that our system is supposedly "innocent until proven guilty," but more often than not you have to prove your innocence.
ahh...
that feeling when you feel like punching that person in the face
+Azhar Primaputra I get that feeling all the time.
+Azhar Primaputra I only get that feeling in DUHmerica. That's why I never go there anymore.
***** Arizona? The worst of DUHmerica. Sorry to hear that. Explains a lot.
since when does a woman know anything about driving correctly?
BAHAHA!
Savage.
From what I experienced
The mans in our family likes to go fast but there wife always stop them from doing so :D
Lmfao
Shots fired! XD
Oh dude you were driving to DMV when this happened. You had a really bad day.
You accidentally hit the stop record button and I found millions of dollars in my trunk.
My mother always said sharing is caring. Care to share?
I cant believe you actually believed she had the authority to effect your driving record/ license. Does she look like a law enforcement officer? Last time I checked only a cop or judge can do anything to your record
I don't believe she had that authority, no. However, I did believe she would do whatever possible to harm me in some way. Clearly, she wasted no time in doing so, because by the time I spoke with the head of the entire office only a couple hours later, she had already heard the fat midget's side of the story and was well aware of the situation.
They can do things. Tell their cop buddies to go after you. Tell their cubicle buddies to lose some important papers.
Why do people like to act like douchebags towards motorcycle riders all the time? It's like they're trying to find something to be pissed off about
+GTMan006 Because they look cooler than them kek
+GTMan006 For a second I thought I typed this comment, and when I saw the date I was like "wtf someone hacked my account?!"
Trint lol
+GTMan006 Because Motorcycle riders tend to be Douchebags a lot of the time. Watch the start of the video. This guy was trying to cut way to the far right of the lane into what looks like a bicycle lane in order to get around the silver van before the van could make the turn, and then he tried to pretend he did nothing wrong. That's what I see when I look at the video. Another Motorcyclist thinking they have the right to cut around people because their vehicle is smaller and quicker.
switchbuckle5th I can see how you may have seen that, but really he was just cutting into the turn, not expecting the car to turn by the looks of it, or just thinking the car wouldn't stop so hard and suddenly. I'm not justifying the biker, but I'm just saying that it's a lot of false assumptions made and he did what most vehicular operators would do, and that's to flow with traffic. But in this case this poor driver in the car was an obstacle that could've caused many worse things to happen.
That’s my hometown DMV. What a shame. Good for you by recording and keeping your cool.
I did my best to find even the slightest moving violation on your part. Then ONLY thing I saw that could come into question is when after you entered the parking lot, you turned left, slightly cutting through the lot... (and by slightly, I mean I would have get out a measuring tape to see if this even happened at all! lol!) But even with that, because she had the option to turn left or right, she should've signaled a left or right turn after entering and especially after stopping. She approached you as if you knew she was gonna turn left. C'mon now....really? No way you could've known that.....oh wait, yes there was! SHE could've signaled!
As for the rest of it,
She was totally in the wrong in the way she handled it.
You were the example of what "Non-confrontational" should look and sound like.
I totally agree with the outcome from the Regional Branch.
And yes, I support the use and application of any type of body cam.
You have a new Subscriber :-)
I can't help to wonder what happened to the employee? I'd be embarrassed to have an employee behave in a manner like that...just sayin.
Thanks for the Sub,
I agree with your assessment. My motto is to put safety above legality. For example, if speeding earns me a ticket but I did it to get away from a dangerous driver or situation, I figure that ticket is cheaper than a medical bill or funeral. Technically, my pass on the left was in a parking lot and there are no laws against that in a lot. That doesn't mean I go around riding like a jerk or anything, but I determined the safe move was to go around them. Besides, the way they entered the lot made it seem as if they were going to turn right. I didn't even realize I was going in front of them. Yes, their left blinker finally came on just as I was passing them, but any rider knows I wouldn't be looking at that. My eyes were looking ahead of my left turn. Besides, they had already made it clear by that point that they had no idea what their own signals meant, so they meant nothing to me.
Yeah, I was gonna ask you about that, if you had seen their turn signal come on or not, because it doesn't really show in the video. But since there are no laws against doing that, then it just makes that woman look and sound even more incompetent. (If that's even possible. lol)
Yes, I agree with your safety example; if speeding gets you out of harms way to avoid serious injury or even death, then by all means. And judging from how you handled yourself with her in the parking lot, I don't get the impression (not even for a second) that you're one to ride around like a jerk or create an unsafe driving environment for yourself and/or other motorists on the road.
Again, well done brother.
dirtyketchup Hey ketchup, sorry I've made several posts on this but I'm going to make another. As a bike rider myself, I am constantly making sure that I drive as defensively as I can, and it's because of people like the 2 "ladies" in the vehicle. I'm a female, and I've been riding for 44 years now. You did NOTHING wrong as you veered to the left once you were in the parking lot. You were only going to a parking place where most drivers could see your bike and wouldn't run into it. She eventually pulled into the lot and it appears that she stopped and that was when the "tester" came to you and called you out on what you did. As I said on a different thread here, why doesn't the DMV have magnetic signs that they could slap onto a vehicle for a driving test? That would warn everyone around that vehicle that they might want to keep some distance. If I had been in a car behind her, I would have backed off there as well. The fact that she sat there stopped at a green light would make me more nervous! I had a couple of incidents this past summer where I thought someone was going to make me their hood ornament, but thankfully they didn't. I also ride with my high beams because I want to be seen as easily as possible. Keep on riding! I'm going to get a look at the camera you talked about.
Cee Bee He may have been impatient, but I still think that there should have been some sort of ID placed on that vehicle to warn not only the cyclist, but EVERYONE ELSE that the driver was taking a test, was not an experienced driver because I know it would have made me back off until I saw which direction she was going rather than where she had signaled. It should be done everywhere so that other motorists might be extra cautious.
survivrs it's not driver's ed....you take the test in your own car and already have driving skills that don't require warnings. Quit making excuses...all this video proves is if you make a big enough deal over something _very_ trivial, administrators will not care and let you get away with it.
I don't ride a motorcycle, but I get the feeling that this is the kind of shit they have to go through all the time.
True. Why do you think I have the camera? They day I got my Motorcycle permit (before I had the camera), I kid you not, some jerk in a pickup purposely opened his door in the middle of traffic because he saw me (legally) lane splitting next to him. I wish I had it on film. By the way, I was able to swerve around the door in time.
Good thing you had it on a cam. That could have turned into a nightmare. And they say women are safer drivers............Bullshit!
They're fools, no offense...
LOL saying women are safe drivers is like saying Lindsay Lohan is slightly drunk.
You were right in thinking you were going to be criticized. It started scaring me whenever a motorcyclist would be driving around me they seem to have no consideration and feel like they own the road. And have the attitude to go with it. Never know if they're going to come up on my left side or my right side and they have their own passing Lane. If you slow down 4 yellow light they come around in front of you. Sing to have no thought for others safety
Without a camera she would have thrown you under the bus for annoying her.
I may be wrong but is that a Honda CBR600 you're riding? It's a really nice bike!
Thanks. Yes it is. The F4i model, with a few upgrades. Sadly not made anymore. :(
dirtyketchup Nice slow-ride too. It's a skill that is sadly lacking in many of today's riders. Mind you, watching them waddle up to intersections is typically quite amusing.
AceOfD1amonds Well thanks man. TBH, I kinda feel like my slow riding wasn't the best here. Definitely gotten much better since then.
I think a lot of people are missing the point, and I put it down to how 80% of people drive. Horns are for emergency use only, they are there to warn other drivers and pedestrians in order to prevent an incident. These days horns are used by impatient drivers or to signal "HI" to someone the driver knows. Because of this, when someone sounds their horn for a legitimate reason, it is seen as a sign that the driver (or rider) is just being impatient. dirtyketchup did nothing wrong and everything right.
Thanks for the reply and support. I agree; all these people who keep saying I was wrong to honk my horn need to ride a motorcycle in a major city for a bit and see if they still call this an overuse of the horn. ;)
I’ve had problems at this DMV. Extremely negligent. San Clemente needs to be checked
She seems so comfortable abusing her supposed power.
I saw NOTHING that you did "wrong". I am not a motorcyclist, and I haven't ridden on one since I was about 8 years old, when my parents friend tried to take me for a ride once. Too scary for me, but I have great respect for your right to ride, and enjoy your ride, while being SAFE. That woman was WRONG. When I was a junior in high school, my best friends mom and stepdad (who were obviously like my surrogate parents, as most best friends parents are) were big into motorcycles. They had 4 bikes between them, two Harleys, and two Hondas. Their dog was even named Harley.. They went out for a ride in October, knowing the early Ohio winters wouldn't allow for many more. They were on a one lane in each direction, country road, that had exits to turn right or left everywhere, but there were no exit ramps, or left turn lanes. The speed limit was 65MPH. The woman in front of them had no brake lights, and at the impossibly coincidental exact same time, Kathy said something to Jeff (she was the passenger on the back of his bike) so he slightly turned his head to briefly listen, this woman in front of them, SLAMMED on her brakes, with no brake lights, to turn left. Had she had properly working brake lights, Jeff would have had time to avoid the collision. They were not tailgating, they were safe riders.. Kathy flew over the van, and died almost immediately on impact. Because of that accident, I am hyper-aware of motorcyclists. I do get very frustrated though, when motorcyclists weave in and out of traffic, ride on the shoulder, pop wheelies, or perform other dangerous tricks on highways. We all need to be more aware.
So sorry to hear about that accident. It's a sad reality out there sometimes. If you ever need to talk, you can always PM me. I appreciate your awareness of riders. I also acknowledge that every group has jerks and morons, including riders, too. Don't let them ruin it for the rest of us. Most riders are some of the coolest, nicest people you'll meet, ready to lend a hand and take care of their own.
Take care, Sarah.
Damn so sorry
This is the #1 reason why my camera never goes off when I participate in traffic. I either vlog, or more commonly, have the camera stuck to the windshield. Either way, if someone tries to pin something on me, they have another thing coming. In 1080p 120 degree (or 170 in dashcam mode).
i've been thinking about getting a dashboard camera. what do you use what do you suggest?
Check out sony.com. I have the HDR-AS15 with the suction cup mount and the skeleton case. Works great. With a memory card you're just shy of 300 bucks. Not bad!
DirtyKetchup I'm dying
HellFire Guy aren't we all?
