    Dude, just found your channel and amazing content. I got online tonight to find some how to's on white oak vanities for ideas and while I'm looking at your vids you legit post this video. LOL. I just started watching but appreciate putting this out!

      Really appreciate hearing that ! I’m definitely not the best I just want to try to give practical tips in basic cabinetry to those who maybe haven’t done this . It’s not that hard! Haven’t posted in a while but hoping to post more regularly and get better at this whole video thing .

      Thanks ! Yeah I should have said something about finishing. These cabinets we make are unfinished . That’s really not my area of expertise , we have a finisher we send all our work to . He sprays them inside and out with conversion varnish. These were stained on the outside , clear on the inside . Mostly Kelly Moore products

    Hello, I was looking to build a couple cabinets from white oak. Was wondering where you found white oak ply? I don’t see any in my area but not sure where to start looking

    hello richard i have cabinet shop too just wanna what kind a tools do you have for 5 peice doors i have seen a unique tools do you wanna share any thoughts on that

    • @cabinetwise
      @cabinetwise  Год назад

      I have a couple shapers with different fittings . They are only used when I make doors for a unique or smaller project. It makes better business sense to outsource doors to a local cabinet door maker so we can keep up with demand!
      But i will make a future vid on door making for sure ! That’s a good idea since I’m getting back into making vids . A new one is out tomorrow.

    Do the slide get removed before it goes off to the finisher?

    • @cabinetwise
      @cabinetwise  Год назад +1

      They stay in when shipped but our finisher usually removes them before spraying .

    Well I can see you really make the most of it? Often I run into guys that are very passionate about their job? I am a finish carpenter/ contractor & built a cabinet or two in my time! Then switched to add finish work , doors, crown, base, windows, styles of trim ect.,. Doors R a challenge and making them even more! Why not try some finish carpentry before u explode?

    What's the width of the face frame? 2"?

    • @cabinetwise
      @cabinetwise  Год назад

      1.5” top and bottom rails , 1.25” stiles and center rails .

  • @modernpsalmist
    @modernpsalmist 2 года назад +1

    I prefer to have the bottom attached with more than just a few 15ga nails, especially with all the weight that’ll be on it. I dado all my bottoms into my sides… to each his own. I would like to at least see some glue on those carcass joints.
    Keep posting my friend.

    • @cabinetwise
      @cabinetwise  2 года назад +2

      Thanks ! You do make some good points that I will consider especially the glue which is really a no brainer. This was how I was taught in the interest of making them fast and there never arose a reason to change bc they still come out so strong and don’t have any wall moment at all. But definitely always looking to improve and add in various methods . No doubt the dado is logically better .

    Wanted to watch this but I can’t do it. The camera shots are too close up and dizzying. I’m sure it’s nice work, I just started getting a little cross-eyed and off kilter trying to watch with those closeup shots and angles with the camera view. It was too much. Sorry. Tripod?? At a distance??
