I was watching this recipe at 3 AM. I couldn’t sleep …next day I woke up went to the grocery store got all the ingredients and cooked it and oh my God let me tell you this was delicious. I made the coconut milk like you did as well 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼 Thank you so much. God bless.
Thank you, I’m a British Indian woman 33 & my childhood sweetheart is 🇯🇲 he found me 3 years ago, perfect time in life & the love is rekindled. I want to learn how to cook proper soul food. So we can have a proper fusion & balance at the dinner table too♥️🙏🏼🧿
I know how this authentic dish tastes. My mom used fresh coconut to cook rice and peas. Absolutely delicious. The one thing that put me off using fresh coconut was the fact that it was done by hand back in the day. I never thought of using a blender 🙄 thanks for the tip, sis. ❤
I know this recipe right here is going to be so fresh and the bomb but I'm still going to use the other recipe you got with the can of coconut thanks Mama 😘
I want to thank you, with all my heart! I have tried for years to make this recipe! Finally following your instructions,I am Finally able to make it,it taste wonderful! I am so greatful for the results,Blessings to you!
That rice and peas looked so DELICIOUS Jody that's the way we Jamaicans know to do it with the real coconut it taste so good. I would have some right now just as it's. Blessings ❤️❤️❤️
I appreciated this video. Although I know for a fact I’m never going to make my own coconut milk because I can’t even buy them locally except for like once a year. But I will be using your oven baked jerk chicken and jerk pork recipes this week! You’re a gem! 💎
hello there, I was looking for an up to date rice and peas recipe! I made some curry chicken on last Sunday. I'm going to make some jerk chicken this Sunday. where can I find the scotch bonnet peppers?
You will definitely enjoy this so tasty😋you can go to any Caribbean shops or any African shops, sometimes they sell in the supermarket also, Amazon, eBay. I heard this is good also👉🏾Habanero Pepper. Hopefully those helps❤️
You meant the coconut trash, you can used it to make dessert, I didn’t need mine anymore so throw it away. Growing up in Jamaica we add a little sugar to the coconut trash and eat it lol
hi Jodi love video and the recipe would love to try it but it's a lot of rice for 2 people please how many will this serve? I've tried to make less and waste less
Please be careful using plastic over heated food. It’s very unhealthy. Let’s look out for each other family. Thanks for sharing it looks fantastic. You can use some saran wrap or parchment paper. Can’t wait to make this with a real coconut
Thank you, I normally used foil paper but I was in such rush when cooking this recipe,I knew someone would say something about the plastic lol the plastic was the closes thing I have so I used it instead ❤️hope you enjoy it👌🏾
It’s better to use a napkin or paper towel instead of the plastic. Scared of plastic due to cancer agent from it. I heard you say you were in a hurry. 🤔
Girl a which part a Jamaica you grow to remove coconut from the shell you definitely need a towel in your hand middle and one wrapping the knife Safety first!
I’m hooked you just made my whole life better lol. Thank you so so much I am subscribed, sharing and all on my business Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and my personal page. I can wait to try to make it myself on my way to the market. I love everything about your videos. Thanks so much for sharing.
No need to wash Basmanti and Jasmine rice. Really, no need to wash any rice that’s sealed in a bag. Only loose rice that you buy by the pound. Information on bag tells you that. Do it if you wish.
Thanks for all your information, but for me my rice of to wash to remove all the starch from it❤️I like to see the water clear not cloudy, it’s something have been doing for years.
The reason for washing the rice is because it removes some of the starch from the rice which is more healthy and also makes the rice more fluffy/ Shelly. That's a fact not a myth if you notice the water looks super cloudy when you wash it that's the starch coming off there. Also there's no pre washed rice. that's false, rice isn't washed in water before packaging that's highly impossible but there's a machine that shakes the rice to clean it then they package it but it's not literally washed in water.
That is true for most rice, but for Basmati, it’s not necessary bc it’s pre-washed and washing removes the aroma it carries. On the bag, it tells you that it’s not necessary to wash. It’s a personal choice. I only use basmati and Jasmine. My rice is always grainy and fluffy. Kids would tell me that they can count the grains. It’s the amount of water that determines the stickiness. Also how soon you turns it. There is an art to cooking rice. Jody perfect that art! She’s a good cook, you will agree.

Wanna get married? Love the recipe. Love the video. Keep on.
the best rice ever
To remove the coconut from the shell, just put it on the stove and leave it for a few minutes, and it will be easier to separate,
Whatever you do,don't attempt to cut the coconut from the shell as knife could slip, use your chopping board and lay it flat
Looks georgous I can almost smell it. Thanks for sharing 😋
Thank you❤️
Yeah yummy will try it
Just found your page and I'm hooked I love your voice 💕

I miss scotch bonnet pepper. All we have in the US is habernero, similar but not the same

So what happens to the pimento seeds do they dissolve while cooking?
Thank Delicious yammmi
Perfect sis 🔥🔥🥰🥰
Thank you sis❤️
Would putting the coconut in a slow masticating juicer work?
I believe it can work but you got to remove the coconut from the shell and add water when doing it.
Hi what type of rice used.....👍😋
Basmati rice
Are pimento seeds and all spice the same?
Yes
What brand rice you using
Basmati 🇬🇧
Girl a which part a Jamaica you grow to remove coconut from the shell you definitely need a towel in your hand middle and one wrapping the knife
Safety first!
How do we know if its too much liquid??
Yummy

17:00 is the fires till on low while steaming?
Yes the fire is definitely on low, if the fire turns up too high it will definitely burn 🔥 at that moment the rice needs to steam
Yum! 😊
How much coconut milk?
Do people ever use brown rice with this?
lekker delish
Looks good
Nice but Please write for me the seed you add with ginger and garlic i cant hear you
Thank you, It’s pimento see otherwise as allspice.
Everything in the description ok
I cant make this cuz idk how much rice to water i need..mine turns into much cuz idk how much rice to put😑
Most people cook their rice and peas differently.
Be careful with dry coconut water
There's no sound
Far too many adverts to watch this
The coconut milk is missing from the recipe!
Are you both deaf and blind???😅
She used real coconut instead
Sto the bs and cook de rice
Are you married
When you are cooking and you have on nail polish
You should use a gloves!
True
