a step by step Video guide on installing Big Sur Or Catalina would be much appreciated - ive got the same Dell Optiplex 9020 MT with stock intel graphics , cant find a clear guide , the one on Tonymacs86 is very long and confusing. thanks in advance
Hey Retro Tech! I couldn't find an email or anything, so I'm commenting here. Not sure if you remember, but you commented on a video of mine about replacing the large cap in an FSP power supply from a Lenovo p310. I ended up taking your advice and made a video on it. It's totally reversible.
@@retrotech2020 one more question if I may. If it's reversible, could you set it up with two drives to essentially dual boot but beside this, would the software continue to operate if you install a faster CPU?
@@santospoland Yes you can dual boot with Windows or even triple boot with Linux.
You can install faster CPU's and it will be fine. This particular model will take an I7-4790K as its fastest CPU but that is a Haswell refresh CPU and MacOS does not support it, therefore the I7-4770 or 4770K would be the best choice but you'll gain nothing having the K variant as these Optiplexes do not overclock.
You can also use Xeon 12xx V3 CPU's but will lose sleep capability.
Therefore the I7-4770 is the best choice CPU.
