I preferred our Roger. He was beamed into the living rooms of the world at least once a week for years in the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Ivanhoe, The Alaskans, Maverick, The Saint, The Persuaders. He was the literally the world's biggest TV star. Whereas you had to pay to see Connery in the cinema once a year, if that in the 60s. Moore was one of us, personable, humourous. Connery not so much.

An interesting fact I read of is that despite Sean Connery starred in Never Say Never Again, the rivaling EON movie Octopussy with Roger Moore of the same year 1983 was in the end more successful at the box office, except in some countries as Italy. Maybe the Italians liked the more macho style of Sean Connery better? Who knows. Certainly the EON movie profited of the much better music by John Barry, one of my favourite composers of all time. And Octopussy's title song All Time High is extremely beautiful.

We owned a movie theatre when this - and the Moore film - came out. Always a Michel Legrande fan, I HATED this film's score. I've wanted to re-do the entire film for years, but it would, indeed, be a difficult task. Instead, I've planned to begin work this summer on a complete re-edit of Disney's 1981 DRAGONSLAYER, which, in addition to getting re-cut (beginning with the virgin sacrifice, for instance), will have an entirely new audio track, including dialogue, sound effects, and music.
It's wonderful how modern technology lets us do what would have been IMPOSSIBLE when these films first came out.

What's great about how you've edited this is that it's clear the problem wasn't Kirchner's direction or camerawork, which are stylized enough and a bit closer to the 60s Bonds than in the Moore films, but the rest of the trappings.

I was totally on board for this, it’s actually some thing that I had wondered about an awful lot: Richard and re-score of the movie to fit the style of the main series, and it was great. Then it kind of all fell apart for me with the terrible theme song. I have no idea what to do about that. Well, no feasible idea anyway. I guess if I had the time and money I would hire a band to do a somewhat more period-Appropriate cover version. Maybe that British Blondie tribute band they’re actually really really good. That’s all a daydream though, no way I would have the money or they would have the time.
But the bottom line is that you did a brilliant job here, excepting the one part that probably can’t be fixed, so: well done!

I enjoyed this movie more than Octopussy which came out the same year and crazily made more money than this did and this was the better movie it was really fun and entertaining.

Should have used that song that wasn't used by Phyliss Hymann instead.

Finally with Michel Legrand a lively music which is not the simple remix of previous films. Leave the photocopying of sheet music to the incompetent, the elderly, or shopkeeper John Williams.

this is a pretty amazing cut lol great job!, just wish i could find the whole movie rescored, tried looking but havent found a good one yet, (and the ''never say Clory again'' one is still so low dvd quality) as the original score is just mostly terrible lol. the tango song is probably the highlight if you ask me lol. but great job :D
