@@MacLeigh I honestly think it's situational, which is why I use them all when skating. The other reason I use them all is just to make sure I keep my skills sharp with all of them and it's always easy to use any of them. That being said, it's kind of hard to beat the magic slide in terms of pure stopping power. The faster you're going, the more useful the magic slide is. If you're bombing a hill and need to stop, a power stop isn't going to help. But... the magic is also the hardest to learn and takes the most lateral space to set up until you get good at it (it takes up far less with practice). So I'd say they're all useful and I learned them in order of power stop -> power slide -> magic slide. Also... the soul slide I think is not talked about enough as a slowing/stopping technique. I use it multiple times in this video but for example at 1:07 I use it twice, once on each foot, to slow down going down a hill. I'll be doing a video on this sometime soon.
@@rerollinginline Totally agree about the soul slide. Pretty easy to learn on either side, and easy to be confident using it at high speeds. I think people also don't talk enough about making slides instinctual. What good is a slide if you can't do it immediately when you have to stop without warning?
@@erikrhodes6324 Yup, I soul slide more than anything to control speed. It's like a drag stop on steroids once you get comfortable with it. And yeah, that's another reason I slide more than is completely necessary - so that when I truly need it to be safe, it's just instinct.

Couple questions for you- What are you using for wheels, and do you feel the smoothness or roughness of the ground surface determines whether you use a full slide or the drag stop? Your magic slides are extremely smooth, and I was trying to determine whether you did them on rougher surfaces or only where it was hard and relatively smooth. In this video I'm using Undercover Team Blank wheels (86A hardness) but I do magic slides on my 85A Rollerblade Hydrogens just fine as well. Many things can impact which braking or speed control method I use in a situation. Of course rougher surfaces will be harder to slide on, but with enough practice, you can do most slides on most surfaces (within reason. some surfaces just need to be respected, lol). I would just recommend learning on smooth surfaces first and continue to practice, practice, practice to really get comfortable before trying different terrain. I spent a lot of time working on my braking methods in controlled practice settings so that in real city sessions I'd feel confident and comfortable.

@@rerollinginline , I had one follow-up question though if you can guide me. I went through a lot of videos to understand whether should I purchase a 4 wheel inline or a tri-skate. My priority is speed, smoother mobility on rough surfaces and cruising long distances, which the tri-skate addresses perfectly. But the reviews say that tri-skates (3X110) are probably difficult for the beginners as compared to 4X80 from stability point of view. Could you guide me on which one to purchase (although my heart is on the tri-skates in spite of a steeper learning curve). Thanks!!
@@dipeshotwani5824 I really can’t, unfortunately. That all comes down to individual skill preference. I also have very limited tri-skate experience and I’m not a beginner. You say you’re returning after 15 years? How well did you skate 15 years ago. I can tell you from my experience, after not skating for 22 years I did not feel like a beginner at all. My body was a little rusty and hesitant, but I could skate no problem. However, I have heard people return after 15 years and say they were a beginner again. Everyone is different. It unfortunately comes down to trial and error. If you have prior experience and really want a tri-skate, then you might have no problem at all. The other option is to make sure you get skates with removable frames. This allows you to try different setups. I’ve got 4 different frames I can use on my same boot.
have to admit, for the first half of the clip i kept thinking "who the heck filmed this though?" until i saw him swapping hands holding the magically invicible selfie stick :)

Thank you! When going downhill, probably over 20 mph/32 kph. On the flats probably usually between 10 mph/16 kph to 15 mph/20 kph.
But I’m not sure exactly! Just guessing
@@rerollinginline Thanks for sharing that 👍. Your video has actually rekindled my enthusiasm to start skating again after 15 years
@@rerollinginline , I had one follow-up question though if you can guide me.
@@rerollinginline , Thanks for sharing your perspective mate 👍. Skates with a replaceable setup/frames seems like a great idea💡
A-mazing! This early morning flow session is the "Rocky" of InLine skating 💫😎🙌
have to admit, for the first half of the clip i kept thinking "who the heck filmed this though?" until i saw him swapping hands holding the magically invicible selfie stick :)
Yeah 360 cams are very cool and make self-filming a lot easier.
@@rerollinginline ok, what?
I still don't get it 😅
He is holding a stick but removed it during the montage ?
i wish i could do this kind of stuff this is so cool thanks for sharing this with us 💖. your city beautiful
Well... Looks like life actually has a purpose after all
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing 😁
Sadly, this is almost impossible to do at this speed in my place in the Philippines. Busy roads, occupied sidewalks, and broken pavements = accidents
P.S. Roads start to get busy as early as 6 A.M.
i reccomend skating around bgc if u're near the area / are able to commute to the place !! its pretty open nd its nice to skate around there
bad ass man. I bladed alot when I was a kid in the 90s. just got my first pair as an adult. the zetrablades from rollerblade. good starters for this 32 year old! skating with them nearly every day, going to upgrade to the twisters in about 6 months! I go out skating and an hour flies by! even in this heat and humidity in H town! idc! shirt off and go baby! I got plans to get damn good!!
やばい。めっちゃ楽しそう(≧∇≦)
Bro your braking is so smooth I love it
This looked like a beautiful skate session! Love being out with little traffic!
I finally got a pair of proper inlines on the way in the mail. I love my old ones, but I got em used for 20 bucks and it has a brick on it. I'm moving away from the brick and plastic frame to some actually sturdy ones. I'm so excited
I can't skate for shit, but idk I just always liked inline skating so much more. You feel so free, like you are flying around. Then when you take them off it feels like you are melting into the ground.
Awesome, I hope they fit well and work out nicely. Nothing like new skate day!
Hey, all that matters is you’re safe and you’re enjoying yourself! The freeing feeling of skates is unmatched. Skates are so versatile in what they’ll allow you to traverse in them.
Hats off to you, you made in-line look fun
That's Satisfactory, I'm from Brazil, and here it doesn't have it, good asphalt
Took me a sec, but I was like, hey I know some of those streets! I'm in DE, but it would be awesome to just be able to do this anywhere here!
I skate but this is a video so beautiful! the perfect skate video that I've seen!
im inlove w the music u chose and its satisfying to see u doing moves w that rollerskate. 👏
Helmet, wrist guards & knee pads. You’re smart & very skilled! Stay safe!
Come and try this in Hungary, lol. Can't even find 10 cm part without potholes on the roads. There is almost no smooth surface on the sidewalks as well. :'(
Mind blowing skill, i can barely move in in-line skates, feeling all asymmetrical between left and right, i would not even know how to begin my journey to this
You're so inspiring, thanks!!!! 🙌🙌
This man, city and music is good 👍
Great vibe, Philly looking good on skates!
One of the best skater i have seen👌👌👍👍
The Broken Social Scene track really made this video. Nice work
Such a legit way to bomb around a city. I roller bladed a lot when I was younger... Don't know why I stopped but this makes me want to get some blades again
Do it! I feel like a kid again with how much fun I’m having. It’s amazing for my physical and mental health. A very healthy hobby for me.
awww man... i miss when i used to skate everyday after school, when i was around 10-11 years old. i'm 19 now, but i've recently been dying to get back into it. hopefully soon :)
Beautiful ,it looks like movie.you smart and confident well done.
I can’t wait to skate in the city on summer nights. Nothing is better! ❤❤
Love it, so fun and smooth looking ride.
that forward braking is cool - I haven't tried that. I only know how to rear-drag. My next street project!
Браво добро возење, јас сум 60 години и сеуште ролам поздрав од Македонија
