    Really like the videos. Currently looking at changing my Black Edition A6 Avant as no longer do the miles. The S4 Avant is firmly on the radar as the practicality aspect is still required. (2 young children and camping etc!)
    Find your videos really useful but also fun! Keep up the great work!

      Hi Jonathan, thanks for watching! I love the A6, the C7 onwards still looks very modern for cars that are up to a decade old! The S4 is definitely worth looking at - it’s a nice motorway cruiser when I’m with the missus and a great everyday B roader here in cornwall - is there cars that are more fun to drive? Definitely - but how many cars have such an all round ownership experience? Not many 😀

    Owned my B9 S4 for just over a year now with many factory options and LOVE it. I've come from RS3 8P's, and Facelift RS3 8V's etc and the S4 is a great inbetweener & all rounder. With a sports cat downpipe, intercooler and air intake followed by a stage 1 remap, I think you'll fall in love with it all over again. Absolutely no reason to change it for an RS4 B9 imo when you can do the above and achieve similar power for minimal money.
    I'd suggest doing little things to the interior as well to make it feel fresh and new again such as change the gear shifter to alcantara / perforated leather. Retrim the steering wheel etc, all these little things add up and make a huge difference.
    Love the channel though, I think you'll go far, keep it up 👍

      Hi Rob, thanks for watching! Glad to see owners of S4 B9s popping up and helping out - yes it’s a great all rounder! The potential of the engine is great and in time it’ll be fettled with. Love the idea of alcantara shifter and steering wheel - but I know what I’m like - it’ll be covered in crap in no time!
      But, maybe doing all these upgrades here and there will make me love it all over again as you said - then I’ll be more careful with it!

    I'm looking to buy an S4 early next year, would prefer the petrol version, but I've heard stories about failures in the cam followers. So more likely that a newer diesel will be on my list, immense torque. I'm moving up from an A4 quattro tdi sport which now has 240 brake.

      Crazy! At least you have the same engine, be it in the SQ5 instead. You don’t get the C32 AMG Estates either do you? Thinking they might rise in value when they can be imported? 🤔

    Ive had a saloon b9 s4 for 16 months now and i really recommend taking it over to DMS Automotive. I’m now at 450bhp and 610 Nm with just an ECU tune- totally changed the car with zero issues. I now have a dog and worry that if I go for the avant s4 I’ll feel a little let down being in the same cabin so… am looking at the c43 with the upgraded AMG performance exhaust….?

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  2 года назад

      Nice numbers there. Yes I guess buying a new ride but having same cabin wood feel a bit pointless but I prefer estate cars so to me that would make up for it. C43 would be nice, Mercedes interiors are top notch!

      Like I want a different car but the extra money isn’t going to buy a much better car - so it seems a bit pointless!
      The tuning capabilities that I’ve seen give me hope for RS4 power without anywhere near the expense. Thanks for watching Andrew 😁

    Had my S4 B9 for two years now and have to say it is a brilliant allrounder and understated, the sound is epic and although I would love an RS4 the difference in cost is too much for the extra performance, especially when a stage one on the S4 will get you well over 400ps for about £500. BARGAIN.

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  2 года назад +1

      Yes that’s the conclusion I’ve come to as well, an extra £20k to get into the cheapest RS4 doesn’t make sense to me. Yes I’m looking forward to the potential that can be unlocked.
      Cheers Phil 👍🏻

  • @The.JZA.
    @The.JZA. 2 года назад

    Keep it. An RS is excessive for driving on the road and you will lose that "sleeper" vibe that you talked about. The S4 is already fast, comfortable and looks great. If you want more power just do a stage 1 tune and keep driving it until the mileage gets too high. I have a B8.5 S4 Sedan which I love but I'm picking up a B9 S4 Avant in a few weeks.

    • @JAYPCARS

    I've owned mine for 2yrs now. I wouldn't believe the 450bhp claims for a stage 1. Unicorn developments or 034 motorsports don't even get that on stage 1. Biggest difference for me was fitting a stiffer rear Arb, really transformed the front end, which I think is the worst bit of the car.

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  2 года назад

      Yes the car can roll a fair bit in the corners - I’ll definitely look into ARB for the rear.

    Great car, Is the rocker arm problem a common thing?

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  Месяц назад +1

      I think rocker arm issues are blown out of proportion, the engine has been used in loads more cars than just the S4. However, it would be an expensive driveway ornament if it did go wrong!

      @@JAYPCARSrocker in mine went, dealer changed all of them, people should change them before they break as while it’s expensive- it’s way dealer after they break, also the pcv needs to be upgraded to the newer version, as well as the thermostat and the water pump- once these are done along with a pipe at the front the engine - the engine and gearbox combo is a stunner. Just my opinion and experience to date 3 years in.

    I have the s5 b9 sportback launch edition. Rs5 wheels, 450 bp remap, dethromed with almost every option. I’ve had it for 2 years…not selling either. It’s a Porsche engine / single turbo rs5 engine. Nothing comes close for the price

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  2 года назад

      How did the remap make the car feel? Being the S5 I bet it feels nice and concise whereas the S4 Avant feels quite floaty on the road.
      But for practicality, as with your S5, nothing comes close within the price range!

    • @georgedesouza8937
      @georgedesouza8937 2 года назад +1

      @@JAYPCARS good point. I have damping control as an option….whilst it’ is good (vs standard) the car did still lean in bends in dynamic mode. I had MSS adjustable lowering springs fitted by Evolve. It transforms the car! The remap stage 1 was done by DMS in Southampton. I have also test driven a rs5 sportback but tbh the performance difference is minimal vs mine (after the remap). The performance is unbelievable at times esp with kick down - being better now than my previous car 640d (which had a lot of torque)

    • @JAYPCARS
      @JAYPCARS  2 года назад +1

      Interesting to know the RS didn’t feel much different. I’m sure with some lowering mine would feel more grounded. For the short trips I do it’s not much of an issue though really - but performance fade seems to be, it’ll be time so sort an intercooler soon. Think I’ll be going with the Wagner.
      Even standard the kickdown surprises me if I’ve been driving calmly!
