1v1 is my top request too. The server browser system is... 'okay' for organising 8v8s. It is *terrible* at organising 1v1s, which is where I suspect this game shines most.

So, I may catch some flack for this, my comment may even be removed, but I'm going to go for it anyways. (I AM ABOUT TO RANT ABOUT THE GAME, SKIP THIS COMMENT TO AVOID A RANT) Steam release isn't possible for this game, or at least, it will cause issues for the moderation team. What I mean by this, currently players receive game bans for what they say. There is incredible levels of censorship in BAR, and it's a real shame. What everyone says for this game is that it is phenomenal, but the moderation team are incredibly egotistical. For example, I called 6 different people, in 6 different matches, "stupid". Reasons vary. Friendly nuked my base (wasn't punished) and players blocking my base in (I was eco, so couldn't get T3 to the front, and it's punishable to reclaim parts of other peoples bases). So to me, calling these players "stupid" was relatively justified. I would also like to mention that "Stupid" is not a slur, or a "bad" word. There are several words that are worse that could have been used in the situations. I received a 4 day ban for my comments made on a few players. Calling players "stupid" is a bannible offense. Now, one I will accept that is justified, and do not argue, is when I told a friendly to "commit toaster bath", but at the same time, he did nuke my base. I was punished (rightfully so, I am not arguing this) with a week ban. However he was not punished. Now, some people pointed out that this player was friends with members of the moderation team, but I CAN NOT confirm this. (I will not be releasing names due to privacy) Now, I have put forward a proposition before to the developers, but they said that the game is too poorly coded to implement this, which to me is hilarious. I recommended that instead of game banning players for what they've said, to instead chat ban them. As a full game ban prevents the players from playing in private lobbies against friends. But apparently this isn't possible with the current way everything is setup. If you get a game ban, you're also banned from viewing your profile on the website (Really stupid) Now, a lot of you are probably just going to reply with "Well, you deserved your ban, and there's no issue". True, I deserved the ban for telling a player to "commit toaster bath" however, do you really think saying the word "Stupid" also deserves a ban? If this game releases onto steam, and it gains any form of traction from my generation (gen-z), they are going to be saying words WORSE than stupid. Actual slur's. The moderation team would be overwhelmed in a matter of hours. The moderation team MUST relax these rules on what can be said, or the developers need to figure out a way to chat ban players. If people who are joining from steam are game banned for what they say, the game will be flooded with negative reviews, and the game would not survive. This all being said. I have played BAR now for 2 years, but quit the multiplayer scene a year ago. I only play private/solo lobbies, because these are more enjoyable. The game has a lot of issues that are not addressed, and players who try to address them are silenced. One issue is the OS system. It's not a bad system, I like it, but it's the way in which the game uses it to order game-placement. When you load into a game, people with the highest OS chose their placements before people with Lower OS. Which relatively makes sense. Except from the fact that there are multiple games where a Chev1-OS17 (Fresh player) is the highest in the team, so gets to choose first. And they typically choose air or eco without an understanding of those roles. Meaning the game is lost, and players lose more OS. So they end up in this trap of constantly losing OS. Furthermore, this has another issue. If you are low OS but relatively experienced (low OS due to bad luck or poor games) you won't always be able to choose eco or air, because if you're in a game where an actual high OS player has chosen eco or air, you can't get experience in those roles. Meaning once you win enough games to have high OS, and you go play those roles, you're expected to be good in those roles because "you're chev5" "your OS30", but because you never got to play those roles, you have no experience in it. So you either get vote kicked, or someone else takes over. The current system doesn't work. But the moderators REFUSE to allow players to talk about anything like this. People like me and many others are silenced and attacked in the sub reddit (not that I use reddit anymore). Many people opted to make their own discord "BAR UNCENSORED" Which grew in popularity to about 80-100 members in just a few months. Where people were allowed to voice their problems to other players and discuss it, without being timed out or muted by arrogant moderators. This comment may be removed by the channel owner, this comment may be attacked by BAR moderators. But know this, this game will not survive a steam launch in it's current state. Things must change. You need a player base to survive. Silencing and shunning them for their views IS NOT the way to grow a player base. For anyone who wants a TL:DR, here it is in a couple sentences: A lot of players dislike the route the game has taken and dislike the moderator team. This game needs to make some changes if it wishes to survive a steam launch.
I don't play multiplayer in this game, but I just wanted to drop in here and say I think you make some good points. We need to be able to talk things out, certainly, in order to arrive at better outcomes. Games are no different. And I have high hopes for this game because it is an absolute marvel to play!

Agreed. 2026 is even a maybe. I could see 2027 as a good bet however.
Slow and steady is the way. Better to get everything right than to just rush changes to make Steam happy.
