  • The Hatbox Ghost is being added to Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion...but he's not being placed in the attic, but next to the endless hallway, disrupting the "no visible ghosts before Leota" rule. How bad could this be? Let's discuss it today in this video here in STORIES FROM THE MANSION!

    Considering that Hattie is an Unhappy Haunt. He gets to go wherever he wants in The mansion.

    Has anyone ever considered that an assessment would have been made of the WDW attic space and structure, and it could have been deemed not suitable for the mechanics? Or even the weight? No? Well then!
    I agree with all the points you've raised, and I would have preferred for him to have been put in the attic, but at the end of the day, I'm grateful that Hatty is even coming to WDW. And, since spirits of those who die by beheading are thought to be 'restless', aka. 'unhappy' haunts, and since the new film establishes that Hatty can go wherever he wants in the mansion, the endless hallway is fine.
    I just hope the lighting doesn't get messed up, as Hatty works in blue light, and the hallway is ambient red.

      But it messes with the narrative
      If they can’t fit him in the attic then they should have put him in the cemetery
      The ghosts aren’t supposed to take form until the seance

    I think this is something that's kinda carrying over from the new movie cause the Hatbox Ghost there didn't die in the Gracey Mansion so I guess this makes sense for the ride version of the character but I'm still believe his placement needs to be like at Disneyland.

    Hmmm so I guess since HBG is an unhappy haunt he must be more powerful than Leotta? I think they should make him talk and explain his early presence!!

    We see the hands of the „Let me out of here“ ghost is the scene right after the endless hallway…. Before Leota. So…. Ummm….

      I think it was Marc Davis who said that it's someone's funeral, being buried alive and transitioning into the ghost realm. Meh, I mean, I think the endless hallway is fine.

    ''Oh but we see he on that on the movie'' How said that probably don't understand the movie... We just see the Hatbox Ghost on the Endless Corridor on the movie BECAUSE, Harriet and the others DO THE REVERSE SEANCE, and they actually do a preview seance some time before Hatbox first apparence...
    So, no WE CAN'T SEE GHOST BEFORE LEOTA, BEFORE A SEANCE OR A ''REVERSE SCEANCE'' we need some of WITCHCRAFT to see they, and that is the role of Leota.
    - ALSO, in the movie, before Hatbox first apparence, we just see his shadow in some scene, if they to that shadow appears in some places of the attraction, and Maybe put he starting to materializing on Leota's room, and after that, put him in the attic, could be perfect.

      I agree with what you're saying. I just think it was a technical issue. They sometimes have issues with weight and space for mechanics on these rides. After all, WDW's version was created without HBG in mind. The attic might have been a no-go.

    I’m perfectly fine with the placement. I’m just grateful that he’s being added to the Florida mansion. In my opinion, people are making a big deal out of nothing.

    Don't think it is bad but uncreative, felt like they could have come up with a better explanation for HBG showing up sooner and had done something similar to Phantom Manor to stay within the "no visible ghosts before Leota" rule would have been better than just a copy paste of California's version.

      Maybe they'll amend the lighting in the hallway and add some new audio to explain why he's there?

    It does not matter to me where the Hatbox Ghost is put inside The Florida Haunted Mansion just so long as he is part of the ride.

  • @Mermain123

    it won't "ruin" the ride.
    ruin is WAAY too strong a word.
    there are still way too many fun aspects to the hauted mansion ride for one detail to ruin it
    but think about it this way
    what if on splash mountain right before the big drop we don't see brare rabbit tied up yet he's still pleading like is.
    that wouldn't ruin the ride at all. but it would be a really weird detail that disrupts the flow
    that's what putting the hatbox ghost in the endless hallway fully vissable would be like

    I just think putting hbg ruins the great reveal of the grand ballroom where you would see the ghosts for the first time

  • @CorVids1031

    From a structural standpoint, I don't like him on full display right at the beginning, much less next to a conflicting focal point (the hallway). I would have preferred if he'd been hinted at at the beginning. Maybe a silhouette or a shadow or something, with a reveal in the attic at the end. Or his silhouette being what holds the candelabra in the first place. Maybe HE could push us into the graveyard. Putting two big effects like the endless hallway and the Hatbox ghost right next to each other makes it hard to take in. The red of the scene mixed with the blue of the Hatbox Ghost doesn't help things either.
    Plus there's the Leota argument. And then the argument that he's an unhappy haunt out of her control. But regardless of the lore, it just doesn't make sense from a design standpoint to have him right next to the hallway like that.
    I don't know the technical requirements for what I'm suggesting. This could have been impossible or taken too long to implement. But I'd honestly rather have no Hatbox in the FL mansion than this. He feels like he was slapped in that room at the last minute.
    There's something cruelly ironic about naming the FL mansion "Crump Manor" in the movie and then removing the chair HE designed to make room for that animatronic.

    • @KRobinson-ko1ne
      @KRobinson-ko1ne 6 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you!
      I want to say I will never understand why they just randomly put the animatronic in this spot of all places at this point of the ride. Unfortunately we’re still in the Iger era and till recently the Chapek era and they’re obviously notorious for diminishing the experience in favor of budget cuts
      This has to be the worst spot. This portion of the ride is where subtlety comes into play. We’re only supposed to feel slight presences, building up to the full manifestation.
      This is akin to a movie having scenes edited in the wrong order

    • @KRobinson-ko1ne
      @KRobinson-ko1ne 6 месяцев назад +1

      Not to mention the narrative
      The Ghost Host narration makes it clear that the ghosts aren’t to take form till after the seance

    • @CorVids1031
      @CorVids1031 6 месяцев назад

      @@KRobinson-ko1ne I personally agree with that. Others say he's his own thing so he doesn't have to play by the rules. But my main point is regardless he just doesn't work in that spot from a design standpoint. The blue coloring is wrong. The placement doesn't make sense. It's just all off. If they were set on putting him in that area, they should have made it so HE was the one holding the candelabra in the hallway.
      And then I'm also sour that they removed Rolly's chair. Like what's the point in naming the mansion "Crump Manor" if you're going to remove one of his ideas to make room for something else? There's a cruel irony in that.

      Like I went to the FL mansion right before they added him, this past October, and originally I was sad I'd just missed him, but after seeing Hatty in action in videos I'm glad I got two more ride-throughs in before he materialized completely.

    I’m sorry but this is just modern Disney again failing to pay attention to detail and just the basics of the narrative
    The fans are right: the ghosts aren’t supposed to take full form till after the seance. There IS a narrative and this IS a conflict
    Besides it just looks out of place
    Putting the functioning hat box ghost by the hall way makes this scene look more like a prop for a Haunted Mansion Gift Shop rather than the mansion itself

  • @FilmThePoliceFTP

    Considering it’s contradictory to the narration… yes it’s bad.
