Like, stitches animatronic looks amazing. I don’t get why they’d just do that to a fine animatronic. They should’ve repurposed it for something, or atleast put it in storage instead of destroying it.
Alien Encounter getting canned was such a terrible mistake. That attraction scared the living crap out of me as a kid, but the thrill made me love it afterwards.
There were also serious criminal charges against one of the main actors in Alien Encounter. It’s possible they were looking for an excuse to close the ride when those charges were pressed, as they were pretty serious.
I loved that ride, as a lifelong horror buff, and I was so disappointed when I returned to Disney and found that it had been replaced by stitch. I tried it out but it was really just a sanitized version with all the life sucked out of it.
I used to work at Stitch and I was told that a lot of the parts used to build the animatronics, effects, and overall infrastructure were discontinued and so maintenance couldn’t really fully fix any of the issues of the attraction (speakers not working, monitors not working, bits and pieces of Stitch himself that were broken off, etc). By the end of its life that attraction was essentially held together with duct tape and glue lmao
I feel like many people would've enjoyed it if they waited until they had a great budget to build the ride instead of jumping right into it and reusing old parts.
they should make a ride called Stitch's Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride and make it like a rollercoaster at like Seven Dwarves Mine train speed and have scenes to ride through
12:56 Congratulations on completing your first day, however your job isn't over just yet. There's another aspect of your end of day routine, and that is inspecting and salvaging any animatronics found in the Alley outside the backdoor. Things are found here quite often and while we aren't sure why, what we do know is that they can be used for parts. Which can mean a much needed revenue boost before starting your next day. Of course, as with everything else in this line of work, those benefits come with risks. The safest thing to do is to throw it back outside, but then you get no money for the salvage. Choose to keep it and you run the risk of certain negative consequences, namely death, should the item in question not be as docile as it first appeared. If you do decide to try to salvage it, then you must complete the maintenance checklist. During this testing phase check on the animatronic frequently, if you feel that it is coming unstable, use the taser provided to you. You can use it three times without damaging the hardware. Every use over three, however, will decrease the item's salvage value.
Ryaquaza 1 he needs to show up as an Easter egg in Into Madness in a parts and services room as a hallucination where there’s just an animatronic that looks like Withered Stitch.
Same my brother cryed so loud that we had to go to a hotel down the street cuz he didn't wanna go back..we went back the next day tho..still scared to even pass it ;-;
"Drake." "Yeah Josh?" "Where's Stitch's Great Escape?" "It's right there, see, I blocked off Alien Encounter." "You were supposed to start construction on it!" "I did!" "So go in and start constructing!" "Dude, I'm gonna!" *bumps into wall covered in posters* "I see the problem." "WELL NOW DO YA"
I just love the idea that someone went up to Eisner or something and was like "hey, ya know HR Geiger's Xenomorphs who are perhaps the most famous horror movie villains ever? We should build a ride around them." And then no-one said no.
I went on this ride a year before it was removed and I didn't have any problems with it. everything worked great. the chilli dog part didn't really smell bad to me the sound worked perfectly and the bars didn't hurt me at all. Maybe I just got lucky.
True story. My family in 2007 went to magic kingdom for the first time. It happened to be a rainy may day. Well we decided since stitch was a enclosed that it would help us dry off a bit. I was little, like 6 yr old little. And stitch was my favorite. As we were seated the ride had started and when it became pitch black and we heard him eat the chili dog. Well when the scent dispensers turned on. Everyone in the theater groaned. But my family didn't mind. That was until we left and started walking in the rain. The scent had stayed on our clothes. It was so bad we had to drive an hour to our hotel to change and then go back. By the time we got back it was about 89° and sunny. This ride had always been frequently talked about in my family. So seeing this video made me giggle abit.
Fun fact: I tried going on this ride when I was 4 and had a major panic attack. My mom took me to the dumbo ride afterwards and that’s still a very cherished memory for me :))
Am I the only one who LOVED the ride? I dunno, it's one of the few rides I remember most vividly from when I went as a kid, and I had a lot of fun listening to Stitch "run" around our heads and act like the rapscallion that he is.
I remember going on that ride. I didn't find it too 'scary', even as a teenager, but I did have some massive issues with the 'olfactory enhancement' section. I legitimately had to go back to the hotel, change, then shower before I could go about enjoying my time again, because the smell LINGERED and kept causing me to gag, badly enough I had 3 different staff members at the park ask me if I was okay. That said, the animatronic was quite neat and I could very much tell it was more advanced than others at the park. It's just a shame they pretty much destroyed it rather than sticking it in storage or even using it as a 'idea reference' for future engineering projects.
I thought I was the only one! I was only 10 when I went, but that has to be the most vivid detail I remember unfortunately, was just how bad it smelled 😞
"His sad tale is a microcosm of what is going on at Disney, where prices are up and creativity is down." Truer words have never been spoken, or printed. However, the same could be said for all of Hollywood nowadays.
CaptainRC1 Disney was never part of Hollywood. Walt never let Hollywood get their grubby hands on his works. It’s why when voice actors and actresses worked for him, they couldn’t work for anyone else (Hollywood and other big time television marketers) because he owned their voices and faces until they either retired, died or he died
You say that but Galaxy's Edge is being released this year (huge Star Wars themed area for Hollywood Studios) and Pandora from James Cameron's movie Avatar was released in Feb 2017 and has been a MAJOR success. Disney is not losing creativity by any means. Also, prices are going up because so many people are flooding into the parks that it's getting overcrowded and full so Disney is starting to put a cap on how many people can enter the parks.
Even as a kid I was never a fan of burp humor. So the chili dogs smell was always mildly discomforting, since I also don't like chili dogs. But the concept was so clever and well-executed to me as a kid. It's really sad to find that the ride doesn't exist anymore. stitch was one of my favorite Disney characters and certainly deserves more love in the theme park.
All I hate about the ride is his spit it ruins your cloths and it hard to avoid due to not only the darkness but the shoulder bar doesn’t give you that much movement and I didn’t know he burp chili dog but i rode it back in 2013 so I was little back then
I remember when my parents took our family to Disney World and decided to go Stitch's Great Escape. Of course, me being absolutely terrified of the dark, the ride was nothing more than an absurd and villainous plan. The ride didn't break down or malfunction in any way (which is surprising because the year we went was 2016), however it became the second most horrifying Disney attraction to near traumatize me. I couldn't sleep peacefully in complete darkness until I turned 13 or 14 years old. After watching this video and being reminded of my personal experience, I can visualize the entire ride from beginning to end. I can still feel the water being sprayed on the back of my neck and wanting to wipe it off, but couldn't because of the restraints. Luckily, I wasn't the one being sprayed by the animatronic, or else I probably would've passed out. Good times.
I remember going on the ride once or twice, probably around the age of 9 or so. Personally, I loved it and remembered the whole ride to this day. I came out of the ride laughing, and I clearly enjoyed it, but I remember a lot of other people complaining about it as they left the ride. When I went back for a trip a few years later, I was disappointed to see the ride was closed. I would check back every day and ask when it was open again, but nobody knew. The last time I went to Disney last year, I was disappointed to see it was still closed, even if it said ‘just for today’. Once again, I checked every day of the trip to see if it was open... Only to find out the ride would never open again. I was heartbroken. Personally, I loved the ride, and I wish I could have gone on it one last time to experience it before it closed. Seeing Stitch and the rest of the animatronics like this is so sad (and borderline creepy, haha). I know I’m one of the few people that liked this ride, but I really wish it could have stayed longer... I was hoping to maybe see if it was open the next time I go for whatever reason, but seeing the way the ride is now, I know that’s not happening. RIP Stitch’s Great Escape - Your ride will always be loved.
Simple way to make it spookier, just take the skin off. Bare animatronic. As for the dismantling the preshow experiment animatronic photo doesn't show the preshow area, that's the room beneath the preshow room and the animatronic is hoisted up by the piston also in the photo. Despite this I'm sure they're just taking it apart for scraps, but I can't imagine the parts on them being very updated or useful on modern models. Perhaps they're just storing the skins for preservation, but I'm sure I'm probably wrong.
This ride was terrifying to me as a child. Having the ride break down and having no lights for 10 minutes did not go well with me having no idea what a stitch was. Nightmares were had.
I worked at that attraction for some time. (Astro, Stitch, & TTC) Did you know they didn’t even bother to change the backstage parts to Stitch? The power box running the show still said Alien Encounter in the break room till its closure. Just a fun tidbit there. ;)
Not terribly surprising, but interesting nonetheless. After all, how much of the public is actually ever going to see the technical aspects of the rides?
I remembered when Stitch burped into people’s faces. The smell was gross, but what made it worse is that I could still smell it on my shirt after I left the building. Edit: Thx for 700 Likes!
Thank you for doing this video. You’re the first person I’ve seen on RUclips who actually seems to have cared about Stitch. I remember when those photos got leaked. It was all by people who were basically dancing on the corpses (so to speak) and in doing so, they made me cry. This was a much better way to frame it. I understand the fans of the previous attraction, as I myself get emotionally attached to theme park memories like that (as a matter of fact, I’m still depressed for Beetlejuice and his pals over at Universal Orlando). I know how you all must have felt when Stitch came busting in and though I loved Stitch, I can agree you all had some legitimate complaints. I didn’t even like the discomfort of the seating. But I am still saddened that Stitch was gone so suddenly. I mostly thought it was a great attraction and now that I know what opening day was, I really wish I had been there. Meeting Cobra would have been a lot of fun! I would have done Lilo’s entire speech, I would have been so hyped. (Did anyone else get so obsessed with it that they would lay down and mouth Heartbreak Hotel or put spoons in the pickle jar, turn it upside down and shake it? Haha I know no one else did something I got to do FOR the TV series, but if I told you all here, I bet no one would believe me. Lol) Anyway... I went last Summer to say goodbye to Energy Pavilion and Great Movie Ride (and for the first time hung out with a fellow Movie fan in line, which was awesome when I could stop crying). I got sick on the airplane ride up there because getting delayed all night took my sleep away and I found myself sleeping, unable to eat and throwing up most days, so we were lucky we made it to all the parks in the afternoons or evenings. When we got to Magic Kingdom, it was really late and one of the first things I did was rush over to Stitch because I had heard it had gone on seasonal and knew it would soon die. I wanted to ride it one last time and get my goodbyes in, as I loved it as much as I had Energy and Great Movie, which, in less than 24 hours, would both be history. Unfortunately, it looked closed. A guard sitting outside told us it had already closed up for the day. Something told me I would never see it again and I began to cry very quietly as we walked off. I’m still upset I never got to ride it one last time and am not sure I could face seeing what is left of it just to go in for the meet and greet. But I am really glad someone finally gave it a video with a fair talk! So thank you, again. :)
Omg the show was amazing! I loved the crossovers they did! My favorite crossover had to have been the American Dragon crossover cause as a kid I was obsessed with and had a huge crush on Jake (hence my old ass RUclips name that I made in middle school 😂😂)
I completely agree and it's glad to see another fan of the attraction. Stitch was the first ever ride I went on when I first attended Disney world at the age of six. I was completely mesmerized with the attraction and it soon became one of my favorites of all time. I can't begin to count how many times my parents would take me through the ride and I would just laugh and laugh the entire time. I don't know where the love for stitch came to be but I remember getting my first Stitch plush, going to the character meet and greet, and just feeling like the happiest kid in the world. Thank you for not bashing it like the others, it holds a dear place in my heart and I'm glad to see it does in yours too
I remember being five and being absolutely mesmerized by Disney World. I saw this attraction and I begged to get on it since at the time, I was obsessed over Lilo and Stitch. I was in awe with the Stitch animatronic and my young self thought it was really him. I will miss this attraction a lot.
@@DwightLivesMatter That's a matter of personal opinion. I meet a lot of people who prefer the thrill rides like Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Mount Everest, etc. But what I think makes a good attraction is one that lets guests take the time to understand the story of what is going on, so I prefer things like Stitch, Peter Pan's Flight, Carousel of Progress... Etc. What I'm saying is, not everyone thinks the same things you do, nor does everyone think the same things that I do.
Imma be dramatic, check it out: I'll miss it, even if it wasn't unpopular. When I was 8 and 9 and I first got to go on the ride, it seemed popular to me. The line was long and full of Stitch fans we could chat with, and I rode it more than once in the years that followed during our visits. Even as an adult, I've been delighted to go back on, knowing every word of what was coming. Every time we rode, guests would scream or laugh or make grossed-out noises accordingly, and no one seemed disappointed or bored. I'm sure it WAS unpopular, but from my perspective (from 2008-onward), it was fun. I remember how excited we were when we heard the ride was coming to the parks, and I got giddy every time I saw the big sign. I still do! Now it's gone. My mom has experienced countless rides from her childhood leaving the Parks and tells us all about them, but we've never lost a ride we'd ridden since we were children at Disney. Of course the first would be our favorite. [TRYING NOT TO CRY OVER A RECYCLED BUNCH OF ANIMATRONICS HERE.] So yes, I'll miss it a lot--wish I'd known the last time I rode it WAS the last time I'd ride it. I'll probably be describing Stitch's gross belch and the robot's cracking voice to my own kids one day. It was fun, Stitch! Crash the party again any time.
The way you described your story just put me in tears. I loved this ride so much and now it's gone. When you said "I wish I'd known the last time I rode it WAS the last time I'd ride it." and how you'd be describing the belch to your kids. I burst into tears remembering how much I loved that ride. It brings back so many memories to look at a corndog now just because I always relate it to Stitch. I just can't stop thinking about how that was the perfect ride and now it's gone.
My sister loved the ride but every time I went on it I was scared! I rode on it last 2 years ago and I was like this isn’t too bad and now it’s gone! 😭😭
Not gonna lie, I actually enjoyed Stich's Great Escape. It always fascinated me and really introduced me to the idea of stuff outside of 'canon' could also be enjoyable.
Brian The Eldritch One That didn't happen to me, but it did happen to me on the It's Tough to be a Bug ride, and I would say that the stink bug smell is much worse.
I can’t lie. I went on this ride when I was 16. I don’t really like scary or jump scare rides and at the time I didn’t know the ride’s history. The preshow was cute and enjoyable, but the ride itself (stitch touching you and breathing down your neck in pitch darkness) actually really scared me. It obviously wasn’t as scary as it’s previous ride, but it makes me wonder what it would be like I’d stitch had his own ride and didn’t replace the alien one. However, I’m in love with the history of the ride now. I’m glad I went on it, extraterrorestrial is my favorite defunct ride because of its unDisney-like scares! Now at 21, I would DIEEEE to go in extraterrorestrial!
Loving stitch I remember really enjoying the ride as it was one of the most memorable parts of the visit for me. In hindsight it seems mediocre but it’s still a shame that it was shut down. I hope stitch gets some redemption
I went to Alien Encounter when I was 6 or 7 years old. My cousin a year younger. I had always been brave while my cousin was always a scaredy cat. When our family went to the ride and we left, I didn't come out crying but I was shaking for a good thirty minutes. I hated showing fear, still do to this day, but it was a very rough ride, especially for someone my age. As for my cousin, I remember my older cousins asking him if he was going to cry. He said no. When we came out, he was crying so bad he was leached onto my uncle for the rest of the day because he was so traumatized. We still make fun of him for it to this day 😂
Growing up, Lilo & Stitch was my favorite Disney movie. Even with my grandpa railroading the trip so that we rode everything we wanted to before our trip was over, I managed to talk my way into this one twice on our second (and last) visit. I was disappointed when I found out it was gone, but seeing that dismantled animatronic makes me pretty upset.
One of the reasons why it probably shut down was because of the malfunctioning safety bars that descend from overhead. For some folks who were still trying to sit down comfortably, the sensors that told the bar to stop descending malfunctioned and kept going until the gears couldn’t go any further. It was fairly painful, especially if said customer was trying to push back up against it and got stuck. I know I was young, but this is still my worst memory of Disneyworld
Alot of folks hated this ride but I recall going to it as a kid and absolutely loving it. Mind you I had no idea there was a ride before hand, and I was like 7 but I remeber the ride quite fondly
It’s kinda weird but the **smell** of the attraction is coming back to me and I don’t mean the chili dog one... I’m remember the attraction smelling very industrial
I had a chance to experience the show in 2010. The seats locked you in so they could bounce down on you, as if stitch was jumping on the seat during the dark part. Also, there was this old lady who wasnt really watching the show, just talking to her friend, when stitch's spit stream nailed her in the face. It ruined her glasses, and she was visibly upset and pissed for the rest of the show.
When me and my cousins went on the ride, when the lights went out and we were strapped in the seats I used to grab the back of my little cousins necks and they would think Stitch did it.😂😂
Once I was at six flags over Texas and me,my mom,my cousin, and my brother were riding the Yosemite Sam ride(I forgot the real name lol)and I was sitting behind my mom and I was so scared that when she put her arm on my leg,I grabbed and I yanked it and I thought Yosemite did it 😂😂😂😂
@@juliepinkerton466 funny. So would my siblings, you know what's crazy... After my family an I stopped going, I wonder what happened to the ride. I missed it. Now I know. I was a little late xD
I'm sitting here, mighty surprised how nice and fluid the animation and movements of the pre-show animatronics was. So much character and personality for animatronics that were somewhat old by that point already from what I understand. Would've loved to see them in person at the time. The detail of the eyes is also really sweet.
I remember going on this ride when I was like 5/6 and being absolutely terrified because it was dark and there were bars. Then I made it through the ride and I guess all the adrenaline along with my love for stitch in general left me with very fond memories of the ride. I am one of the few who misses it apparently.
I was kinda scared when I first went on the attraction. I got over i quicklyt, but seeing what happened to Stick now, it's something out of a horror movie.
I went on the ride sometime last year and it was insanely broken,,, the shoulder bars on the ride kept pushing down even though it was already at my shoulders and it kinda hurt lol the headphones barely worked and only occasionally played sound in one ear. I remember going on it when it first came out too and it was such an,,, experience and as a dumb kid it always made me smile. Looking back on it I still love this ride because it makes me remember how thrilling it used to be. It just breaks my heart to see it all fucked up but it’s for the best (gotta put that poor ride out of its misery)
ahegoleggo did we sit in the same exact seat LOL mine kept pushing me down to !! I was basically so low in my seat by the end 😂And I didn’t feel it worked either.
this comment is sad beacause being a kid now and thinking that the guardians of the galaxy ride could look like that in 10 years with the rocket racoon animatronic
Yeah, I’m from Arizona so I’ve only been to Disneyland, in till 2010 I went for a graduation present to myself, I never got to experience it in its prime, but that was my biggest complaint were the shoulder bars they would make my shoulders hurt after! So when I went again a year later, i made sure to put the shoulder bars really high so they hardly touched my shoulders and that worked a lot better and that was what they were probably trying to accomplish, Stich is small and fluffy so I imagine it wouldn’t hurt if he jumped on us 😂
good news I did more research and what I am being told is that the pictures are not real they are in photoshop and were made with the characters from fnaf mixed with lilo and stitch one of the are direct rip offs of the exo skelloten from fnaf 4 also by rip off I mean they were just put in
I remember doing alien encounter as a kid and it was so scary but a memorable experience. They showed you the alien in the center tube. Then lights go out and it breaks out. The seats blow air on your neck and sprits you with waster. It was so surreal and amazing yet still terrifying.
Bring back the alien chambers with the "scary" theme. Not EVERYTHING has to be directed towards the little kids. Put back a few things that are for big kids only.
OK guys then riddle me this if Magic Kingdom is a kids park why would you put in something scary as a main attraction. That’s kind of stupid to do. They could open alien through Halloween and keep the room for meet and greet for stitch
yeah when i was young this ride and there was some like 4D bugs life thing i think?? both made me scream and cry haha. but i just went on this ride like... 4 years ago. kinda sad to see it gone but understandable.
I actually remember watching this attraction when I was twelve and being kinda scared of it since I’m a baby and afraid of the dark. But I was still dazzled by the Stitch animatronic for being so fluid and life-like. It’s a shame the attraction died the way it did
My mom thought it'd be a great idea to bring a maybe 5 year old to this. As someone who at the time never saw Stitch or maybe saw him once, I HATED that fucking ride. Still kinda do. Now that I can appreciate the animatronics, I have to say It does look very fluid for the time.
oh my god dude, disney is god tier at making events, that's actually really cool how commited they were with making stitch appear as tho he had been messing around on the park
I actually liked the attraction, but I probably had good opinions on it because I wasn’t effected by any of the special effects. Though, throughout the whole ride, it smelled really bad, probably because of all the burp special effects from the previous rides.
One of my favorite memories of this ride was some guy yelling "I just threw up in my mouth!" after the belch scent was sprayed. It made a ton of us laugh.
Well back in 2015 I was right in the splash zone when Stitch spat on the audience, u don’t even wanna KNOW where that spit landed! It landed ON me, but I’m not gonna say where! 😂
I actually used to love this ride, as a kid I thought it was amazing that the animatronics looked so real, and overall I thought it was pretty entertaining. The part where Stitch started jumping on you really creeped me out, and I'll never forget the smell of that Chili dog. Looking back at it now, I think it's a real shame that it closed down, I would've liked to experience it again.
i strongly agree because if you look at 12:58 stick fur is completely off it looks burned and disney should have said something about it closeing because they kept it on schedule. but maybe there going to use the ride and improve it.
Right?! I’ve done both, and the Stitch version was like *nothing* compared to the Alien version. I did the Alien version as an older teenager, and even then, it was scary as hell. I’m actually amazed the Alien ride was even opened...just seemed so out of place in the Magic Kingdom which generally seems geared toward younger kids. It would have been more fitting for a park with bigger thrills, like (what is now) Hollywood Studios.
Well no shit what do you want us to do? Travel through time just to ride the alien encounter? I still think the stitch ride is scary no matter what, I bawled my eyes out.
i feel so lucky to have gotten to see 'alien encounter' when i was young. it was a really great show. honestly one of the best in my memory. only show i can think of that was better was a stage performance of Bram Stroker's 'Dracula' performed in some old church in italy.... that had live bats instead of air-nozzles so it really cant be beat.
Disney better decide on making a more modern ride for Stitch's sake. I am a HUGE Stitch fan and this makes me very upset that people never appreciated this ride. I always begged my family to go to this ride because I got to see my favorite character. It was mind boggling to me that, they were able to do all those "special effects". I will forever miss this ride and I'm sad that I never got to say goodbye.
The biggest problem with it was that it recycled a show system that was completely incompatible with the family friendly take they were going for. All the scary parts that were left over still scared kids, and the more juvenile take on the effects wasn't fun for most adults: basically, it had no core demographic it could appeal to on a widespread basis. That said, I wouldn't mind a version of Stitch Encounter/Stitch Live making its way to the US; all the Stitch fun without the Alien Encounter leftovers.
I used to work there when it was alien encounter. We loved it because we got to play the maintenance guy in the catwalk above you with the flashlight searching for the circuit breaker before he gets eaten.
Wow, I had no idea that this had shut down. That's kinda depressing. It wasn't my favorite ride but it was a piece of my childhood that's now gone forever. I hope they replace it with something really good, and not some "Incredibles" themed attraction like I have been hearing. Don't get me wrong, the Incredibles are great, but they have virtually nothing to do with Tomorrowland. (Personally I'm hoping they replace it with a Tomorrowland movie attraction, but sadly I'm probably the only one who even remembers that movie).
As someone who was traumatized by the original Alien Encounter as a kid, I think Stitch's Great Escape is a huge improvement. If only it came out of its own accord first maybe it would have been more appreciated.
“Prices are up and creativity is down.” History seems to be repeating itself. So sick of all the haphazard IPs being slapped onto preexisting attractions.
I only went on it once when I was visiting my mom, and two years later when I came with my dad, I was SO excited to show him it and go on it together. When I saw that it was closed down, I was devastated. Whatever's replacing it better be GOOD, no, it better be FANTASTIC.
I loved this ride as a kid, and genuinely still think it has some of the best animatronics still to this day, the canons and stitch had such fluid movement and really felt so real to me and genuinely terrified me but in the best way possible. It's sad to hear how rushed they were and that maintaining the ride was a lost cause. Genuinely think if they gave Stitch a second chance and remade or refurbished the ride for a modern audience it could be a really amazing experience, if they just updated the humor/writing just a bit, but I guess it just sits and rots away sadly. I would KILL just to see this show one more time in any form. Stitch deserves something more than just a meet and greet and merchandise in the parks tbh
@@AmusementLabs Aulani is just a hotel though, and honestly an overrated and overpriced one at that, and the most Disney thing about it is a small stitch statue that they have. I think some sort of log ride would be cool though
@@emilyhuff5888 through the mountain side, but I'm sure it's hard to do that in Hawii cause shipping parts is expensive and Hawaii is pretty strict on things like that. Probably why there's pretty much not a single coaster in Hawaii...
@@sunnygirlsense wow, I’m actually surprised you responded this fast! Yeah, I saw the movie too, my mom said it was always stripe, but I thought it was spike
satisfyingslime1454 whatever opinion you have is fine, but don’t be a jerk about it, people enjoyed this ride because it was a fun ride. They liked it because in their opinion that’s what a show ride should be like. I know you probably don’t like Stitch, but just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean everyone else shouldn’t either.
I remember going on the ride when I was younger and enjoyed it, but it's understandable how people didn't like it as a replacement for "Alien Encounter". I never knew that it was a replacement until today.
I remember really loving this ride as a kid. I never liked the chili dog burp bit, but I thought the rest of it was really fun. I was a bit biased though given Stitch was possibly my favorite Disney character at the time. The last time I went to Disneyworld was over a decade ago, and I had no idea it had shut down. I'm kind of sad that I'll never get to experience it again, but I get why other people didn't enjoy it that much. I hope Disney makes another Lilo and Stitch themed attraction at some point.
That picture of the dismantled Stitch animatronic looks like something out of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Edit: Wow! I did not expect this many likes and comments! Thanks guys!
...man, a FNAF-alike set in Disneyworld would be interesting, I said, and then remembered a YA novel (maybe a series) with a similar premise that actually predates FNAF by quite some time. I read it when I was maybe 13, so a good ten years ago, and cannot for the life of me remember the title.
@@abandonedchannel197 its ok, but i was sad when they closed it down cause lilo and stitch is my favorite movie but i do agree that the ride could have been better but overall i liked it
I went on Alien Encounter when I was 9 and it was way too scary. It's sad that it was turned into this ride that failed, I love Stitch! He deserved better
Disney is not meant for young children it is meant for the child in all of us. Sad thing about Alien Encounter is that there were multiple warning signs telling parents the attraction could be too intense for small children. I saw people dragging their 5 year olds onto the attraction and even reading the signs and saying it can’t be too bad or their just saying that to make it seem worse than it is. Then seeing the same people chewing out some cast member because the child was terrified.
on the bright side the dead silence before “hey that’s not simba!” really adds to the effect

Like, stitches animatronic looks amazing. I don’t get why they’d just do that to a fine animatronic. They should’ve repurposed it for something, or atleast put it in storage instead of destroying it.
I know, maybe I'm just lame but that's one of the most active robots I've ever seen
it still looks usable, just dismantled
It doesn't look destroyed; they just took off the skin and fur fittings. Makes it look creepy as hell, yes, but certainly no more than dismantled.
Disney doesn't give a damn. Why do you think someone stole Bubsy or whatever that kids name was in cranium command.
Major fnaf vibes
Say what you will about the ride, but its still sad to see it all dismantled.
Yes me too
Not really
I loved that ride it's so sad
It was a great ride! Especially when it was hot!
I really loved that ride it was fun
Alien Encounter getting canned was such a terrible mistake. That attraction scared the living crap out of me as a kid, but the thrill made me love it afterwards.
it was so good🥲 it's probably just me but most of the dialogue/script of Stitch's great escape kind of made me cringe/gave me second hand embarassment
It scared the crap out of me and I was 16
There were also serious criminal charges against one of the main actors in Alien Encounter.
I feel like many people would've enjoyed it if they waited until they had a great budget to build the ride instead of jumping right into it and reusing old parts.
lucky i wish that i was old enough to work there
Disney could have bought FNAF, done some tweaks and kept it going for another few years.
ForestofTooMuchFood 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Disney makes billions from owning basically everything but they still can't bother to put a bit of effort into their attractions lol
they should make a ride called Stitch's Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride and make it like a rollercoaster at like Seven Dwarves Mine train speed and have scenes to ride through
Yes great idea you should pitch it at disney.
Omg yes!!!
OMG THAT HAS TO HAPPEN!!
Good idea
I think it should be a water ride themed to surfing

That's hilarious
Cringey Cartoons my family went for the first time in 2017 and after stitches burp we smelled it at the parks all day and even tasted it during lunch!

@EbberDeeMills That is exactly what I said
I remember going on that ride.

Truer words have never been spoken, or printed.

Also, prices are going up because so many people are flooding into the parks that it's getting overcrowded and full so Disney is starting to put a cap on how many people can enter the parks.
thats exactly how i feel about all the live action remakes disney is churning out.
The chili dog smell from this ride was horrible
All I hate about the ride is his spit it ruins your cloths and it hard to avoid due to not only the darkness but the shoulder bar doesn’t give you that much movement and I didn’t know he burp chili dog but i rode it back in 2013 so I was little back then

Really? I hated it sooo much. Being spit on and having such a horrible smell in my face was just gross.
I mean, at least you guys actually got to try it
I remember when my parents took our family to Disney World and decided to go Stitch's Great Escape. Good times.
tbh the de-clothed stitch animatronic is almost scarier than the original alien encounter
I loved that ride a lot! I didn’t know it closed down! 😕
That's lovely to hear
Simple way to make it spookier, just take the skin off. Bare animatronic.
As for the dismantling the preshow experiment animatronic photo doesn't show the preshow area, that's the room beneath the preshow room and the animatronic is hoisted up by the piston also in the photo. Despite this I'm sure they're just taking it apart for scraps, but I can't imagine the parts on them being very updated or useful on modern models. Perhaps they're just storing the skins for preservation, but I'm sure I'm probably wrong.

Lol)
Anyway...
Damn such a sob story... I'm sorry you didn't have the opportunities to actually go on better attractions. Try again next time :P
Imma be dramatic, check it out:
I'll miss it, even if it wasn't unpopular. [TRYING NOT TO CRY OVER A RECYCLED BUNCH OF ANIMATRONICS HERE.]
So yes, I'll miss it a lot--wish I'd known the last time I rode it WAS the last time I'd ride it. I'll probably be describing Stitch's gross belch and the robot's cracking voice to my own kids one day. It was fun, Stitch! Crash the party again any time.
I wanna go to Cranium Command because of Buzzy. 👌👌👌

I hate that ride
Too many people have been complaining about it and more and more people stopped riding it.
I remember hating the ride at first cuz I was scared of the date when I rode it, but after the ride, looking back, that thing was great!
Not gonna lie, I actually enjoyed Stich's Great Escape. It always fascinated me and really introduced me to the idea of stuff outside of 'canon' could also be enjoyable.
I rode this ride so much that the Chilly Dog burp scent was ridden into my clothes. I had to take like 3 baths to get it out.

I love the movie mars attacks, but when I was 5 it was pure nightmare fuel.

Loving stitch I remember really enjoying the ride as it was one of the most memorable parts of the visit for me. In hindsight it seems mediocre but it’s still a shame that it was shut down. I hope stitch gets some redemption
I was a little kid and went with my dad but i had alot of fun
I loved all movies and the series of Lilo & Stitch
...
And then yuna and stitch was a thing
Ugh
One of the reasons why it probably shut down was because of the malfunctioning safety bars that descend from overhead. For some folks who were still trying to sit down comfortably, the sensors that told the bar to stop descending malfunctioned and kept going until the gears couldn’t go any further. It was fairly painful, especially if said customer was trying to push back up against it and got stuck. I know I was young, but this is still my worst memory of Disneyworld
The alien ride scared me when I was younger and stitch scared my daughter 😂 wonder if there will be one to scare her kid too lol it's tradition
Aww, that's kinda wholesome. 💙
Were you enjoying the stitch ride compared to Aliens? I know they kept the same aspect as aliens except made it PG.

Haley Lahaie you’re not alone

That is my exact situation
Still miss it to this day, despite the uncomfortable seats
I loved it a lot when I was young.
I was kinda scared when I first went on the attraction. I got over i quicklyt, but seeing what happened to Stick now, it's something out of a horror movie.
Sticc
RIP
this comment is sad beacause being a kid now and thinking that the guardians of the galaxy ride could look like that in 10 years with the rocket racoon animatronic
Disney’s whole thing is that all ages can go into a ride. The big kid stuff is at universal

I didnt really mind it, to me it smelled like one of those weird smelling jello flavors or something like that.

One of my favorite memories of this ride was some guy yelling "I just threw up in my mouth!" after the belch scent was sprayed. It made a ton of us laugh.

I never got to ride the alien one, and I want to see what it was like tbh 😂
Well no shit what do you want us to do? Travel through time just to ride the alien encounter? I still think the stitch ride is scary no matter what, I bawled my eyes out.
i feel so lucky to have gotten to see 'alien encounter' when i was young. it was a really great show. honestly one of the best in my memory. only show i can think of that was better was a stage performance of Bram Stroker's 'Dracula' performed in some old church in italy.... that had live bats instead of air-nozzles so it really cant be beat.
While I didn't like this ride. Still bummed to see such a cool animatronic just skinned and left there like that.
Yeah, I thought the plasma cannons were neat too. Would be nice to see both reused in a better attraction.
they could at least kept the animatronic for some disney land museum
Same, especially since Lilo and Stitch has always been my favorite movie. Hit me right in the childhood...
The plasma cannons were the only things I looked at most of the time
Disney better decide on making a more modern ride for Stitch's sake.
AA610 Hopefully Disney is smart enough to follow through on the people’s request
Hopefully we get some good news in the upcoming years

I used to work there when it was alien encounter. We loved it because we got to play the maintenance guy in the catwalk above you with the flashlight searching for the circuit breaker before he gets eaten.
I went on that when I was about 4 or 5. It was fucking terrifying lmao
I have vague childhood memories of that, and I loved it.
History seems to be repeating itself.

I hope one day Disney make a new park attraction based on Lilo and Stitch that is an actual coaster or dark ride
