My move Suggestion is to use "Son of Skywalker" first, activating Luke first before Pep gets any actions. use the first action for a dodge or aim token whichever you feel is more important, then move to the back arc of the AT-ST gaining a melee attack from Charge. Then since "Son of Skywalker" gives you a second attack, i would "Saber Throw" at the speeder bikes, if you do 1 damage in each of those attacks they are some pretty big blows to Peps army.
Luke struggles with the burden of his lineage, he knows Its his duty to atone for his father sins and bring balance to the force. Corageously he charges to the AT-ST, a machine so powerfull it had decimated an entire squad just seconds ago, and is able to quickly deal a griveous blow to it, but the titanic machine is not finished yet and neither is luke, quickly he moves to the back were the vulnerable spot is hoping to deal once and for all the final blow.
Looking at getting this game. My son loves battlefront and this is like a tabletop version. I was worried about the rules and pacing, but this video has totally assuaged my fears. Thank you for this and all your watch it played videos!
These videos are really useful. I really needed a walk through like this and the others. I have watched other videos and everyone knows what they are doing so it is just too fast to follow. Subbed. 👍👍😉
Start with the Airspeeder - for two reasons. A) it can take out the AT-ST before it gets to go and B) the Airspeeder is exposed, so you want to activate it before you lose it or take to much damage on it. Might even be able to get it away from some of the threats against it.
You made a mistake with the first shot of the atst :) if they are in range 3 for the light cannon I don't think you can use the mortar launcher because they have to be range 4 or above I think anyway
You're right Mink, good catch. If I remember, we accidentally measured to the furthest model in the unit away, which was at range 4, but range (when attacking) is actually measured from the leader model in the attacking unit, to the closest model in the defending unit - which would have put it at range 3.
The obvious play is to choose ambush command card and activate Luke first to kill AT-ST before it has a chance to activate. You know the opponent doesn't have ambush anymore and unless he plays the Darth Vader 1-point command card you should activate first.
Hi Tyler, I do my best to answer rules questions, but individual card effects I generally have to pass on (just a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the games I’ve made videos for). You may find an answer for this on the games page at BoardGameGeek.
As always, the bloopers made me actually choke on my drink. :p Love the series so far! I was going to give Legion a hard pass, but all this coverage and talk about it, I think I may have to bite the bullet soon...
The bloopers are the best! I think this is the hardest I’ve seen Pep laugh, and yes, Skullwalker is the raddest name ever. 😊 At the end, when going over the whole layout and cards, etc., is that the previous Watch It Played theme music slowed down? It’s awesome mood music.
if a unit is within range 3 of a leader they use the suppression value of the leadwer. so storm troopers within range 3 of vader don't gain any suppression because vader has- for syppression. luke has suppression 3 so a unit of troopers within range 3 of luke have to have 3 suppression tokens on them before they lose any actions
Units can use their commanders courage value when checking to see if they panic, but not when checking to see if they gain suppression tokens, and become suppressed.
Are the landscape objects and the game mat expensive? I can imagine the game is much less enjoyable without them as it would ruin some of the atmosphere. Great video by the way, thanks for the hard work!
Thanks for checking out the video! If you'd like to take a look at the terrain and mats, you can find them here... www.gamemat.eu/ We were using the "Badlands" and "Modern Warfare" terrain as well as the "Fallout Zone" mat.
Either use 'Son of Skywalker' or 'My Ally is the Force'. If you use 'Son of Skywalker',1(a) first activate the "Hans Solo" rebel unit leader to move and attack Darth Vader, with a melee attack (Basically, he's dead either way, so make it worth wile). If you use 'My Ally is the Force',1 (b) activate Luke Skywalker and just say, goodbye AT-ST. 2 (a), After Vader force chokes Solo to death, activate Luke, destroy the AT-ST, and charge him into Vader (With saber throw, again cause 'Son of Skywalker ' allows you to do two attacks so you can take Vader out), or just get an aim/dodge token. 2 (b), Move a trooper that isn't "Solo" to an objective, and attack Vader/speeder bikes/stormtroopers. The 'My Ally is the Force' card gives dodge tokens to troopers, and rebel troopers are "Nimble", so you gain an extra. Try to stay behind some cover, especially if you attack Vader. 3 (a) If you hit Vader, but he didn't die, he most likely hit back, and may have killed Luke. If that's the case, activate the Airspeeder and attack. If Vader didn't die, but neither did Luke, just laser cannon Vader to death. If Vader is dead, activate the AT-RT and if the AT-ST wasn't destroyed, take it out. If it was, just clear out a trooper unit. 3(b) Since you moved a trooper and attacked, now move another trooper unit towards an objective, and, if possible, attack stormtroopers/speeder bikes. Make sure the troopers you are activating now are at least 3 range away from Vader. 4 (a) If the Airspeeder wasn't activated, do so and kill a trooper or two, otherwise move troopers to objectives. 4 (b) Activate AT-RT or Airspeeder and attack whatever you see fit. I hope this was useful. Great video as always! P.S. Play 'Son of Skywalker'.
Great video. QQ: Since the AT-ST was engaged with Luke in melee, would "Han Solo" be able to shoot at him? I skimmed the comments and didn't see this asked already.
Han Solo can shoot, because trooper units can be only engaged with other trooper units. Trooper units cannot be engaged with vehicles, and vehicles cannot be engaged with other vehicles, even if both units are in a melee.
This looks like a ton of fun! But I think I might have invested too much in X-Wing, Imperial Assault and Armada. I doubt I could support a fourth Star Wars game. :-)
Yeah FF seems to be fine selling games without enough dice and card games that can't even build a legal tournament deck with one set. They have moved way down my list of companies I look to do business with. Maybe after they are done paying out the butt for IPs they will start making complete games again.
Tony Bowers it is an annoying staple of every Fantasy Flight game minis game. They sell additional dice sets separately and I recommend picking one up if you get the game.
I've been thinking about going larger than regulation size on a map. Are there any new rules on extending the length of the game or size of the map? Or should I just customize it myself?
They aren't panicking because they are close enough to their commander (Luke in this case) that they use his value to determine panic instead of their own.
Question, when the AT ST attacked and removed the rebel troopers, he couldn't remove the rebels farther back because they were out of the line of sight of the at st, and therefore could not suffer wounds right? Or am I wrong?
So, use Han Solo to take out the ATF as a first action. If successful, then the cost of using the unit is worthwhile. Next movement should either focus on the infantry taking damage from Vader or moving Luke Skywalker in to Kill Vader with his Melee attack. After this you use the Big armored fighter plane to destroy the fighter bikes. This destroys the AFT early, surrounds Vader in a multi combat situation by himself and in general reduces the dark side to only 1 or 2 tank units. Another alternative is this... Luke spikes the AFT first then rushes to ranch attack Vader. Fighter pilot attacks the speeder bike before it can be effective in the battle. Han Solo then sacrifices himself by either attacking Vader or the Speeder Bikes (If the speeder bikes are still alive). Then your alternative tank and other rebel scum concentrates fire on the weakened Darth Vader to take command of the battlefield and potentially kill off the ATF, the Speeder Bikes, and Darth Vader in 1 turn. You would still have Luke Skywalker and the mini ATF running around the battlefield and maybe take 2 victory points for yourself in the next turn. Now I have 2 suggestions for the dark side... If you are able to steal the victory token for yourself, your first turn is to use the ATF to attack Luke Skywalker. No movement, just purely use all you attack power to wreak this unit. use should at least take 1 or 2 damage out of his 6 health points. Next use Darth Vader to move into Luke Skywalker to do range damage twice, or once depending on where he moves. If he is not in range the first time, use your damage to further critical the entrenched units another level on the way over with your free move (perhaps with a force chock instead) or if Han Solo hasn't moved yet, make sure he becomes unusable with the same force chock. If you can move your speeder bike in for a kill, don't use them for the fighter plane, use them instead to criticize Luke Skywalker or the mini ATF instead. The fighter plane can be targeted by the multiple infantry surrounding said fighter pilot to the point where it might be destroyed before the next turn. The Speeder Bikes would of course move last for the best and most likely outcome. Plan number 2 for the dark side... ATF gets a guaranteed kill on Han Solo. Any spare attack power is used on Luke Skywalker, if possible. Next turn, the furtherest away storm trooper fires their guns on the fighter plane to deal damage, maybe a surprise killing blow, you continue this with your set of storm troopers as needed until the fighter plane is gone. Once the fighter plane is gone, move your speeder bikes to wreak Luke Skywalker around the cliff side, then send in Darth Vader to finish Luke Skywalker. Any imperial troops not used are to be moved into positions that either get them closer to attacking Luke Skywalker or the Mini ATF. Plan 2 b for Dark Side... ATF kills Han Solo, all spare attack used on Luke Skywalker. Move in Darth Vader to get 2 kills on Luke Skywalker (don't take notice of the rebel scum behind the rocks) Whats left of the speeder bikes rushes in and delivers the killing blow to Luke Skywalker. Final actions preformed by every other unit to shoot down the fighter plane or get in position to take out the mini ATF. If Dark Side wants to ignore Luke Skywalker with Darth Vader and instead focus on in the entrenched rebels, he can, but I think it can really only deliver 1 kill, since they will most likely remain behind cover. The Mini ATF will attack something next turn, so be prepared to shoot it down if it gets into range of a lucky trooper that has nothing better to do. Do not use the speeder bikes on the fighter plane and instead focus on using it on either Luke Skywalker or the mini ATF. These will pose more of a threat if not weakened then the already half damaged fighter plane, of which is in the middle of your territory.
I do not see the point of the Airspeeder having armor AND cover 1. Cover can't delete critical hit (or did I miss something ?), and armor already delete all none critical hit.
There are effects that can convert hits to crits (like, say Impact) - however, before those effects can be triggered, you check for cover - and cover can remove hits before an effect could convert them to a critical later. Hope that helps!
Oh, yeah. I figured that just after I asked, that impact convert after cover ^^' Thanks a lot for the quick reply tho. The only critic I can make is "PAINT THOSE MODELS !!!" :p
Hey Colton, does the video imply that Impact is only for vehicles? It's been awhile since I shot this, so without a timestamp I can't really tell what you're referring to. That said, here is some discussion about Impact here: starwarslegion.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Impact
They were only called that while on Hoth. Official name is T-47 Airspeeder. They can be dubbed other nicknames depending on environment they are used in: starwars.wikia.com/wiki/T-47_airspeeder/Legends
I really like how you guys narrate every action, really helps noobs like me follow along!
Very nice to hear that Jo - glad it's helpful!
Same here lol haven't even got my core set in the mail yet

This was going to be my suggestion, so will bump this.
Luke struggles with the burden of his lineage, he knows Its his duty to atone for his father sins and bring balance to the force. I would suggest using "Jedi Mind Trick" as well to put two suppression tokens on the Stormtroopers Unit.

I have to say, I really enjoy the outtakes. I am glad you keep those and allow us to see them. Very entertaining.
When we have enough good ones for it to work, we do our best to fit them in :)
24:38 "Ye of little faith"? Really? You're going to drop the perfect opportunity for "I find your lack of faith disturbing"? For shame, Pep!
The obvious play is to choose ambush command card and activate Luke first to kill AT-ST before it has a chance to activate. You know the opponent doesn't have ambush anymore and unless he plays the Darth Vader 1-point command card you should activate first.
Just bought SW Legion. Enjoying the gameplay videos! Cheers!
Thanks Damien, we had a lot of fun with this :)
16:40 is there a point to the air speeder having cover1? It removes 1 normal hit, but only crits can affect it, right?
Hi Tyler, I do my best to answer rules questions, but individual card effects I generally have to pass on (just a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the games I’ve made videos for). You may find an answer for this on the games page at BoardGameGeek.

Thank you kindly Ed!
The last two bloopers: it has a weapon in the back. So I like it. And: mine is bigger. I almost choked while drinking.
As always, the bloopers made me actually choke on my drink. :p Love the series so far! I was going to give Legion a hard pass, but all this coverage and talk about it, I think I may have to bite the bullet soon...

"It was not!!"
lol

Very kind of you to say Andrew!

We were using the "Badlands" and "Modern Warfare" terrain as well as the "Fallout Zone" mat.
I bet there will be a "skullwalker" board game in the next 12 months... :D
I think because "Han Solo" was within 1 of Luke he should have lost that surpression at the 26:16 mark.
Being in range of your commander doesn't cause you to lose suppression, it just affects when you panic.
2 crits on a 3 white roll attack was crazy lucky!!
Not bad, right?
Either use 'Son of Skywalker' or 'My Ally is the Force'. Hey, Rodney I'm back. Vote casted.
Samin Raiyan Stealing my name? But really its vice-versa.
Awesome, thanks!
Son of Skywalker for sure and nuke that AT-ST and then blaster or saber throw the Stormtroopers behind that hill.
Yes...definitely use a Skywalker 1 point card
wouldn't the solo trooper be eligible to use luke's courage because he's so close?
You can use a leaders courage if you're in risk of being panicked, but not for checking for normal suppression.
I really enjoyed watching this and helped me understand the rules.....pew pew....
This looks like a ton of fun! But I think I might have invested too much in X-Wing, Imperial Assault and Armada. I doubt I could support a fourth Star Wars game. :-)
You and me both!
In the meantime, you can just enjoy vicariously through us :)
I love your videos plz keep it up.
Will do!
Thanks for sharing. Too bad the game doesn't come with enough dice.
Yeah FF seems to be fine selling games without enough dice and card games that can't even build a legal tournament deck with one set. Tony Bowers it is an annoying staple of every Fantasy Flight game minis game. They sell additional dice sets separately and I recommend picking one up if you get the game.
If you buy 2 core sets it more then worth it.
Where did you get the awesome terrain?
Glad you like it - you'll find it in the description of the video.
I've been thinking about going larger than regulation size on a map. Are there any new rules on extending the length of the game or size of the map? Or should I just customize it myself?
There might be official rules for that - the publisher website might have information you could check.
I may be mistaken, but wouldn't the troops suppressed twice in the beginning of the game by the mortar be panicked?
They aren't panicking because they are close enough to their commander (Luke in this case) that they use his value to determine panic instead of their own.
Question, when the AT ST attacked and removed the rebel troopers, he couldn't remove the rebels farther back because they were out of the line of sight of the at st, and therefore could not suffer wounds right? Or am I wrong?
They were in line of sight. They had cover, but were in line of sight.
Watch It Played okay, it just seemed like they were out of sight from that angle
Understandable. It's a very tall model, so it gave it an advantage there.
This game reminds me dust warfare, is there any correlation?
Not that I'm aware of, aside from them both being miniatures styled games.
i need this game
Glad you enjoyed!
Really liking the video I wish they could come out faster - I say that as a compliment not a criticism
Taken as a compliment :) They are surprising time intensive, but more on the way soon!

does the compulsory move have to be in a straight line?
Nope!
LOL, ok thanks. That means I was playing wrong last weekend. OH well now I know
Rodney talking about sexual comments made by Pep around 29:08-29:22 but says this at 9:18. Haha
I’ve watched this a handful of times. But can I have your 2 captain America omnis???
Afraid not!
When is episode 3 coming out?
Just recorded it today, so soon (I’ve had a cold, and it’s slowed down production a bit).
I feel you, was down a couple weeks ago, but looking forward to the video! :-)
What terrain are you using?
Hey Mike, you'll find that covered here: ruclips.net/video/Nsm0hpKC6-0/видео.html
You should just surrender to the dark side of the force. Rule the galaxy as father and son.
If he won't turn, I sense another... A younger padawan.
