Ruby. Thank you for your comments. I was at kunsan in 1981. I can identify with many of your comments. Kunsan was my most rewarding assignment in the AF. I had a sense of purpose there that I didn't have stateside

Ruby, I was at Kunsan in 1975 and I have never forgotten that year. I have never forgotten the friends I made there. Someone mentioned A-Town. In those days it was safe and there were Korean girls. It is popular to put that down now but many of the guys fell in love and got married. In other words there was caring on both sides. I'm older and sick but I would love to visit the country again and see all the changes. I'd even want to see what used to be A Town. I hope my Kunsan memories are among the last I lose. You seem very nice and I wish you well as you move through life.

I was concerned at first my son left lastnight to Korea. I had so many emotions. I was scared but this does comfort me knowing he is going on a once in a lifetime experience. I want him to enjoy and have fun. I know he is smart and will learn alot. I'm his mom so I'm always concerned. Prayed up!!!!

so i see nothing has changed at kunsan. was there in 81-82. worked hard played hard. it was a very rewarding experience. people at osan are in la-la land. they are oblivious to the mission in korea. saw the difference when stationed at suwon in 84. went to osan frequently and these people were bitching how they did not have this or that. told them to be stationed at the "kun" and see what deprivation is really about.

Agree. I was at kunsan also 81 to 82. It was not an easy assignment but my most rewarding one. Yes folks at osan had more comfort than we did. I'm glad for the experience

I was stationed at The KUN 93-94 when the founder died, we spent a lot of our time on alert. We lived in crack house dorms ARMY style depending on the day you couldn't even take a shower. The only entertainment we had was A-Town if you wanted to take that chance. Also shopping was basically limited to 1-3 spots in Gunsan because that's all we had. During a exercise we always went from MOP-1 straight to MOP-4 whether it was Summer or Winter. I loved the KUN!!!! 35th FS Pantons Push it UP!!!

Transportation sq 1981. Barracks were old and primitive. Showers had hot water but didn't last very long. Lot of memories

I spent a year and a half from 90-91 and five years there from 94-99. I lived outside A Town both times, the second time I had my POV. Aside from the yearly turnover in personnel, it was the best assignment I had in 20 years. Also, the second time I had my wife. It is my understanding that now everyone lives on base. I don't like that idea at all. One day I'll go back for a visit. As a retiree, the off limits areas will no longer be off limits.

WidowMaker600 Even still everyone may get deployed one day. Korea could possibly be considered as deployment to some people
