I bet you never thought that when they asks you during setup if you want to enable BitLocker and you say no that it would just go ahead and do it for you later anyway.
Yeah, & they also ask you if you wanna be tracked & have your information collected from you for advertising... but they do it anways.... But that's just the norm these days, just last week it was once again discovered how Meta apps such as Instagram collect data via "secret" javaScript code... & then a few days later the same thing comes out for TikTok....and then Google scanning your photos & reporting it to authorities if you have inappropriate photos on your Google Photos....
Theres a way around it now. Use rufus and rebuild your os using the newest iso file. Then rufus has a question asking if you want to delete the bitlocker software.
Honestly i haven't stopped searching and i tried so many ways from youtube and other websites and literally none of em worked , i'm not ready to lose my files stg
I downloaded on update on Windows 11 after getting harassed by my OS to do so. Shut off my computer and let it update. Came back, rebooted it and was welcomed by that beautiful blue screen asking me for my Bitlocker Key. Of course, Microsoft just gets worse by the day and my efforts in trying to access my account to recover my key was thwarted because I literally just wouldn’t receive the code to log in to my account. So it pretty much bricked my computer and I was forced to factory reset it to even use it. Luckily, I mainly use the computer for gaming and there was not much important data on it that wasn’t backed up. Just very annoying.
Happened at the work place to others. IT dept luckily had the keys. Regular user wouldn't know what to do. Updates on Linux can be annoying too depending on distro and packages etc. But usually able to troubleshoot.
I just got locked out and the number for the verification code is a old number of mine so I guess that’s my fault. BUT WHY DOES MICROSOFT TAKE 30 days to make update changes to my number
The annoying thing is, I need to get on my Microsoft account to get my Bitlocker key for my PC and to that, I need my PC because my Microsoft account password is only saved on that.
Damm I feel your pain... BUT if you didn't have your storage getting encrypted all the time (you prob. didn't) then you could install windows on a different drive and then plug this drive into the same PC as well (or just plug this drive in a different PC) & you'll be able to go through the files on it
@@One_Four_Four_r You can probably find lots by searching for smtn like "recover files from broken windows install" There's many options, like versions of Linux that you can boot into from a USB... or (and prob. the easiest one) you remove the storage drive with your locked windows & plug it into another computer & then search for the data on that drive. Best of luck 🤞
Issue spontaneously fixed itself, and I have no idea why Still had to spend 150$ on hp support and talk to Microsoft support for like a day straight, but I got my data back, and that's all that matters
It locked me out on vacation. I thought I had a virus I was so scared it ruined the entire time. I’m so scared of bluescreens and it was just horrifying. And I’m about to go on vacation to the same place and it happened again. I’m so scared right now…
When I login to microsoft account to get the key, there's a error "something happened, wait a bit then try again", I've been trying for a day now, it's my work laptop and had imp data that I don't want to loss, I usually do have drive backup and restore points but sometimes you don't have time to do that on daily basis, the only mistake here was trusting microsoft I guess...
Ok well I just got a bitlocker screen when I turned it on and I got rlly scared but I turned everything off and found my bitlocker on the Microsoft thing and when I turned on my pc it just worked sooo Idek
That sucks, I belive you could always contact Microsoft so they'd give you the key tied to your account, or login into your microsoft account somewhere else or reinstall Windows...
@DailyTechNews.mp4 Can only provide the recovery key if it was backed up to Azure when BL was enabled. When you enable BL on your device, you should first... know what pin you set. Seems like that's a trending problem in the comments. Second, backup the recovery key to a thumb drive or the cloud. Personally, I have my recovery key backed up to a removable media, which is encrypted by Bitlocker-to-Go and locked in my safe. Also, it's backed up to Azure - which I think might be a commercial user feature but now I'm curious.

Extremely useless features ...

@@AtlasRhapsody Damm, did you try Windows support (although from my experience they are quite useless)
@@eyupdiisa It's supposed to just be unlcoked by the key which you can find in your Microsoft account (or contact Microsoft to get the key for you)

Incredibly annoying indeed, glad you didn't lose any data
Locked me out after disabling secure boot
Sometimes too much security can be a bad thing
Very true, it's about balance & not frustrating or hurting the consumer...
And of course, you have way better odds of getting back your computer and info if you hack it... oh the irony
I set up bitlocker by accident. I been locked out of my MSI laptop for weeks. I cant even factory reset it. Im so aggravated!
too much security, no more freedom.
Too much control as well

Yeah quite an annoying bug, especially for normal people without an IT dept on hand... Microsoft just continuing their streak tho ;D
I can’t even use it right now
Never buying a pc from Microsoft again, got the bitlocker screen and wasn’t even able to find a way to get rid of it.

The video doesn't need to be helpful. It just needs to connect with the audience.
Bitlocker is turned on by default when you add a Microsoft account during the OOBE.
This isn't new and is a thing in Windows 10 as well.
That is a piece of sh from Microsoft
True
XD
Yeah locked out for like 3 months
I hate Microsoft
