    3:47 How Does BitLocker Work
    Bitlocker, also named as Bitlocker Drive Encryption, is a Windows encrypted security feature that allows users to encrypt all the data on the drive and restrict that information from any unauthorized access. It means Bitlocker can also protect your personal files from cyber theft. This security becomes more valuable when multiple users log in to your system. When the data present in the drive is encrypted, only an encryption password or a recovery key (in case you forget the password) can unlock it.
    Today, cyber security and the protection of the data present in the computer are crucially important. And to guard that information, the Windows BitLocker safety security feature is a great help for any individual or organization. This part also talks about the supported Windows OS and system requirements. In the next part, we taught the audience how they can use it, and in the last part of the video, we mentioned how BitLocker works. Apart from that, viewers will also learn about TPM.

    Hello dear! Thank you so much for the guide! I have Windows 10 Home and I don't have Bitlocker (the settings which can enable me to turn it off) on that Windows... instead I have "Turn Off Device Encryption" o on Device Encryption Setting from the Settings Menu... does it option decrypt the drives as well and how long would it take to decrypt 1.5tb ssd? Looking forward for your assistance! Thank you!

      Hi there, thank you for your question! If you have Windows 10 Home, you may not have access to BitLocker, but you can use Device Encryption instead. To turn off Device Encryption, you can follow these steps: Open the Settings app, click on Update & Security, click on Device encryption, and click on Turn off. Please note that turning off Device Encryption will decrypt your drives. The time it takes to decrypt a 1.5TB SSD depends on various factors such as the speed of your computer and the amount of data stored on the drive. It could take several hours or even days to complete the decryption process. I hope this helps!

    Bit Locker is very useful, IF you don't have too much stuff on your hard drives. Make sure it's totally way less what is on there before activating bit locker, because right now, I am trying to encrypt the external hard drive, and it's taking more than 2 hours to encrypt it. So back up your stuff and then set up the hard drive or flash drive to be encrypted and then add the files back on the device.

    I got a little confused at the end - you rushed through logging in after BitLocker was enabled.
    To log in I will need a USB flash drive with a key on it each time I attempt to log in? Or will a password only work?
    If a USB flash drive is needed to log in, should the USB flash drive be formatted as NTFS?
    At what point is the USB flash drive made?

      Hi there, thank you for your question! Sure, I can clarify. After BitLocker is enabled on your device, you will need either a USB flash drive or a password to access your files. If you choose to use a USB flash drive, you will need to insert it into your device every time you attempt to log in. The USB flash drive should be formatted as FAT32 or exFAT.During the process of enabling BitLocker, you will be prompted to create a recovery key, which can be saved to a USB flash drive. This recovery key is separate from the key or password you will use to access your files and is used to recover your data in case you forget your password or lose your USB flash drive.

      If you have a TPM chip and you have NO issues you will not need to enter any passwords or recovery keys to access your data. I am not sure what Wondershare is talking about. If you are NOT using a TPM chip and/or you have a problem (like your TPM chip dies) you will need to have either the "unlock password" or the Recovery key or both to gain access to your data.

    Does bitcloker take space double what I have in my hard drive?

    • @sasikakumarasinghat.o1631
      @sasikakumarasinghat.o1631 2 месяца назад

      No, BitLocker does not require double the space of your hard drive capacity to encrypt your data.
      When you enable BitLocker encryption on a drive, it encrypts the data on the drive, but it doesn't double the space requirements. The encryption process itself may require a small amount of additional space for metadata and other overhead associated with managing the encrypted volume, but this overhead is typically minimal and does not double the space required.
      For most users, the space overhead introduced by BitLocker encryption is negligible compared to the benefits of securing their data. However, it's always a good idea to ensure you have sufficient free space on your drive before enabling BitLocker encryption, as the process may require some temporary space for operations like creating encryption keys and managing encryption metadata

      @RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware  11 месяцев назад

      Hi there, thank you for your question! To disable BitLocker on a Windows computer, follow these steps:
      1. Click on the Start button and open the "Control Panel".
      2. In the Control Panel, click on "System and Security".
      3. Under "System and Security", click on "BitLocker Drive Encryption".
      4. Find the drive that is protected by BitLocker and click on "Turn off BitLocker" or "Decrypt the drive".
      5. A pop-up window will appear, asking for confirmation to disable BitLocker. Click on "Turn off BitLocker" or "Decrypt" to confirm.
      6. The decryption process will start, and it may take some time depending on the size of the drive and the amount of data stored on it. You can monitor the decryption progress in the BitLocker Drive Encryption window.
      7. Once the decryption process is complete, BitLocker will be disabled on the selected drive.

      BitLocker uses the highest encryption standards (AES) so you can depend on the service with total peace of mind

    • @RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware
      @RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware  Год назад

      Hi there, thank you for your question! BitLocker is generally considered a safe and secure way to encrypt your hard drive, as it uses strong encryption algorithms to protect your data. However, it's important to note that no encryption method is 100% foolproof, and there is always a risk of someone finding a vulnerability or exploit that could potentially bypass the encryption. In addition, if someone has physical access to your computer and can bypass the login screen, they could potentially access your data. It's important to use strong passwords or passphrases to help protect against unauthorized access, and to keep your BitLocker recovery key in a safe place in case you need to recover your data in the event of a hardware failure or other issue.

    • @bobpage6597
      @bobpage6597 Год назад +1

      It'll be safe - but it is worth mentioning that by default, Bit locker encrypts using AES-128 bit - if you want higher encryption to AES-256 bit you'll need to adjust your machine's local group policy, which you can find online how to do.

    • @CesarPeron
      @CesarPeron Год назад

      @@bobpage6597 Theoretically 256 bits is better, but in practice 128 bits is just as secure and in its favor it has better disk performance.
