For the smaller anchor charts, I like to but the word of the week and the quote of the month.. and then also like a weekly schedule, and any other small things I can think of.
I love your old library space in the back! With the new rug it will be so cozy back there by the window. I was also thinking that if it's in the front of the room it might be distracting for others when students are in that space. Great ideas so far...can't wait to see the next video! ♥️
I would put the library center in the back corner, where there are no windows. You can add some special lighting. That way you can also use it as a calming area. You are going to need your desk by the windows. That extra sunlight will help you. That rug...huh...keep it unfront unless you are not planning on them coming up to the white board. Then roll it up and store it. Use a smaller rug. Those yellow chairs are cool though!!
I would put the rug near the window. You can have circle time or they can sit there and read their books with the sun shining in through the window which would create a nice, peaceful atmosphere to read.
In my elementary school we all had jobs for everyone like ”Paper passers, door holders, library monitors, and other jobs like that and every month we would get new jobs! Just an idea!
I use to love jobs when I was elementary school. The ones I remember are line leader and clean the chalk board. I used to always want to clean the chalkboard because it was fun to me!
Leave the small group table where it is. Leave the big carpet in the front, and put the class library around the carpet. This year, I do plan on spacing out my library. I have a lot of graphic novels I’ve bought this summer, and I think I’m going to out them all in one place so I can keep a better eye on them.
You're such an inspiration!! I teach Spanish in an Italian school and although my students are older than yours (freshmen to seniors) I think I'll be buying some of this stuff... classrooms over here are way too boring! So happy I found your channel! Greetings from across the pond!
Teacher in Scotland here, not sure if this is a thing in the US but we have something called a Class Charter which we write as a class every year (new one for every group of kids) - basically a list of class rules/values that we all promise to follow! You could put a Class Charter on the skinny bulletin board and have the kids sign their name (or do something creative - if you search class charter on Pinterest there are loads of ideas!) underneath. Love your channel - so many great ideas x
I’m getting rid of ALL of my anchor charts this year. I did a PD over the summer on interactive writing and doing anchor charts during the lesson with the students. Plus the paper on my anchor charts is yellowing from age, even the laminated ones.
I would keep the rug by the board in the front! Also I think you should put the kidney table where the summer school teacher has the library right now because the word wall and objective board is there. Keep the library where you had it last year! Just my opinion but have fun setting up :)
I love the idea of moving the library and putting the kidney table in its place, but I think you should keep the rug where it is because you need them to be close to your smart board for whole group instruction!
Natural light is great for a library or small group table. You could also put all 3 book shelves on the back wall if you didn’t want to designate a specific spot for them to go sit in. I would move your word wall where all students can see it so possibly the boards in the back. I would move your calendar and all your morning meeting like things to the front if that’s where you do most of your teaching. You can also utilize the front of the cabinets for a word wall, amazing work, etc. The bulletin by the classroom door could be a “Student of the week” display. Be careful to not mix your wood border with your wood bulletin paper. I would add a solid color border between the two if using both. Hope some these suggestions help😉
Found this video and you mentioned your last years classroom set up so I just came from watching all of last years set up and so excited to see this years set up! New subscriber
Love your videos. I've been teaching computer/Technology for the past 14 years and I'm going to be a 2nd grade teacher this year. I feel like a brand new teacher.
Ok... here are my thoughts. I’m going into year 15. Wherever you put things think of flow... how does the traffic flow? I would leave your big carpet where it is since that’s where you teach the most. I always put my small group table in a corner... that way it takes up less space. What exactly is the purpose of the extra desk? If you do want another one I would put it in the corner by your sink... have the desk but not have it take up the main space. I wouldn’t put it in the walk way beside your cabinet... I think that would make the flow awkward. Your library would be good on the back wall. As far as your anchor charts the way I have always thought about it... anchor charts should be made with the kids... otherwise it’s a poster. If you leave them do the kids learn as much as if you make a new one with them? I also hate big sheets of paper all over the place so 🤷🏻♀️ that’s just my opinion. Have you tried lighter fluid and a razor blade on the contact paper? It should work... just make sure you have the area nice and ventilated. Great video!
Excited to see your classroom setup and the changes you make!💕 Random video ideas: how you prep for meet the teacher and what you do and also how your RUclips startup is going now working with brands/sponsorships? I used to have a channel and am thinking about doing it again. I’m curious how everything works.
So I came across your channel a week ago- binge watched your set up videos and followed you on Instagram. I was gutted when I got to the end of your videos, saw this video posted and literally squealed 🎉🎉
If you use young living lemon essential oil the contact paper will come off… you put a couple of drops on the top let it drip down and sit for a couple minutes and then scrap scrap scrap it will come off like magic!
I would keep the rug where it is. Maybe square off that area for the library? Like put the back of the bookshelves towards the rug, then you could add a rug and it not clash. Are you getting the flexi whatever desk?
On the skinny bulletin board you could do like student of the month! With a picture of them, their name and use the whole board to put all the things they like or fun facts about them!☺️
I have an idea it may not work but maybe try to use a scap tool then push on to the paper then it should come off or use water paste I did that one year in my class
Greeting from Thailand! Appreciate your beautiful, lively and informative classroom. Love watching your video and I would love to decorate a classroom like yours. So inspiring!
I think that you should keep your library in its previous place if you are going to use the tapestry since it won't come in the front corner as your bulletin boards are there, and the second thing is that if the library is infront of the bulletin boards it would be difficult for you to use the the board. Hope my thoughts helped you... Btw love your videos❤️ All the best for your classroom setup and for the new academic session 👍
Love this! What's your advice for a first year teacher, to start out on the classroom? Watching all your videos just makes me nervous, because I don't know how I'll be able to accumulate or afford to purchase so much stuff at the start of my first year teaching.
I haven’t seen any second grade teacher you tubers create a sound wall in the classrooms this year. What do you think about sound walls? Your ‘word wall’ idea looks similar to a sound wall.
For the smaller anchor charts, I like to but the word of the week and the quote of the month.. and then also like a weekly schedule, and any other small things I can think of.

I was the pencil sharpener >:D
same!

Same

Library in front corner and back wall will be desk space and small space table in the middle room

Great idea! I do that in my class every year. The students have more accountability when they do it this way.
I’m getting rid of ALL of my anchor charts this year. I did a PD over the summer on interactive writing and doing anchor charts during the lesson with the students. Plus the paper on my anchor charts is yellowing from age, even the laminated ones.

For the bulletin board near the door, you could do social distanced greeting like air high five, dance, etc
on the skinny bulletin board you could put the welcome sign
For the bulletin board next to the door you should do a attendance check in thing for each student
I love the idea of moving the library and putting the kidney table in its place, but I think you should keep the rug where it is because you need them to be close to your smart board for whole group instruction!

Love how inclusive your classroom is!
On the skinny bulletin board, you could put class rules. That’s what I always did.
I think the keep the library where it was then put the kidney table in the corner near the board
I LOVE all of your ideas about the library, rugs and the bigger desk. ❤️ yess to all of it!
Found this video and you mentioned your last years classroom set up so I just came from watching all of last years set up and so excited to see this years set up! New subscriber
Organize and bins Scheduled your classroom arrangement for your classroom set up video and organize bins and store bins
For your whiteboard u could maybe add led lights around it!
Love your videos. I've been teaching computer/Technology for the past 14 years and I'm going to be a 2nd grade teacher this year. I feel like a brand new teacher.
For your contact paper issue: try any citrus essential oil. It works great!
Classroom set up videos are getting me so excited!!

For the small bulletin board to the classroom rules
So I came across your channel a week ago- binge watched your set up videos and followed you on Instagram. I was gutted when I got to the end of your videos, saw this video posted and literally squealed 🎉🎉
I would love to see you do a bumblebee theme since you got a yellow honeycomb color on one of your walls!!! I think it would be absolutely adorable!
If you use young living lemon essential oil the contact paper will come off… you put a couple of drops on the top let it drip down and sit for a couple minutes and then scrap scrap scrap it will come off like magic!
I was going to say the same!
You should put the all welcome poster on the door xx
Have you tried undue on the contact paper? You can get it at Michaels in the glue section. It's also on Amazon.
I love the diversity & inclusive decor 🥺🥺🥺
Keep the big rug up by the white board and smartboard
switch library and kidney table!
You could put class jobs on the skinny bulletin board by the door!
I would keep the rug where it is. Maybe square off that area for the library? Like put the back of the bookshelves towards the rug, then you could add a rug and it not clash. Are you getting the flexi whatever desk?
I graduate this year and this gives me ideas on what I wanna do after high school I really like how you did your classroom 🤎
you and miss kathy are such cute teachers!!! teacher goals 😂😊
you could put the library where the kidney table is!
On the skinny bulletin board you could do like student of the month! With a picture of them, their name and use the whole board to put all the things they like or fun facts about them!☺️
That is such a cute idea! 🤩
@@madisonleighmaryan I remember being little and being student of the month was the COOLEST part!! My teacher always made us feel so special! 😊
Try floor stripper diluted! It should take the contact paper right off!
I have an idea it may not work but maybe try to use a scap tool then push on to the paper then it should come off or use water paste I did that one year in my class
so sweet that you got neat stuff for the room, but not sure little second graders will or need to understand the poster that says "all orientations"
Greeting from Thailand! Appreciate your beautiful, lively and informative classroom. Love watching your video and I would love to decorate a classroom like yours. So inspiring!
I’m so excited to start my journey. Just applied to a Master’s program to also become certified to teach.

im can't wait to see all of the future vlogs in the completed classroom!
I think that you should keep your library in its previous place if you are going to use the tapestry since it won't come in the front corner as your bulletin boards are there, and the second thing is that if the library is infront of the bulletin boards it would be difficult for you to use the the board. Wooooo when I saw the cubbies
I was like that's alot of students...
have you done a VIP desk before for your students? that tiny desk would be PERFECT for it!
August 18th is my birthday! And i had to catch up by watching all of your 2020 vlogs. Keep up the good work!
always excited to watch your vlog
Try lemon essential oil to get the contact paper off!!😊
Sometimes I just sit in my classroom and take time to think about how I want it to work, and look.
Yea second year 2nd grade teacher so happy for you🥺❤️
I was just watching your last years vlogs the other day, and now I can watch this year
I love teacher bonding time too ❤️❤️
Ahh! Classroom set up videos are my favorite! Thanks for sharing!
Love to watch you setting up your classroom when you speed it up!
I loved watching this!!! I love watching these classroom setups!!❤️
I think that the big rug would be good back by the information center so they can sit and watch that.
For the contact paper on the cabinet... Have you dried straight lemon oil? I've heard that works. 🤷♀️
Yesss I'm so excited to see what you do!
Try petroleum jelly on the contact paper
Can you please give a video of a new classroom setup
personally, I would leave the library where it is and put the kidney table in the objective corner
How do you handle going through all the students' supplies a the start of the year?
Love this! What's your advice for a first year teacher, to start out on the classroom? Watching all your videos just makes me nervous, because I don't know how I'll be able to accumulate or afford to purchase so much stuff at the start of my first year teaching.
Im not teacher but I really like your vlogs. You are real inspiration for all of us. Take care. Fan from Slovakia :)
Hey Maddison what’s your amazing playlist of music
I haven’t seen any second grade teacher you tubers create a sound wall in the classrooms this year. What do you think about sound walls? Your ‘word wall’ idea looks similar to a sound wall.
The target dollar spot is the best😍
There is a product called undu that is made to remove stickers that might work
Where did you get the mini erasers for white board?
I lov this. So organized!
Thanks for the shout out 💖 Hope you can find a spot for the signs. Have a fabulous year 2!
Thanks so much Ashley!!
I think you should move to kidney table near the white board
Where did you get all your letters from?
Have you tried hand sanitiser? That’s really good for getting things off!
I’m still obsessed with the fact we have the same last name 😂
The bored infront door my teachers use it for class jobs

Madison I watch all your videos and there so good
Omg I bought the "in this classroom" pieces! I'm so excited to have them in my classroom!!
What grade do u teach? Also good luck this year!
Does the school give you a budget to buy stuff for your classroom
Wonderful Setup Teacher
Your videos are very useful and informative.
It's so strange for me to see classroom setup videos. For me, summer break starts on the 29th of July.
What my school ends on the 3rd of June
i am only like 2 hours away from columbia lol
It always seems impossible until it's done.
love ur classroom i would them on the door window,
You are so kind and you sound so sweet and kind maybe one day I could meet you
I forgot to comment on ur last video ur nails always look bomb what shape do u ask for round oval or almond looos great on u n want to try too
Love your channel! For your supplies, does the school reimburse you? or do you pay out of pocket? Thanks! :)
A lot of teachers get reimbursed a small amount back. Most will pay out of pocket, not covering the full amount.
I had this same question.
I wouldn’t move it
Love watching your room setup!
I wouldn't move your bookshelves apart. You'd loose the magic of a library.
So cute
Hi, love your channel!
