As someone who co taught last year if you have the room definitely recommend even just having two small desks so you both have your own personal space for planning and such. It’s nice to have one space that’s your own and not shared no matter how well you work together or get along! Congrats on K!

Having a team teacher sounds so dreamy. You get to bounce ideas off each other and have two sets of eyes for the kids. Can’t wait to see how it goes this year! The classroom is already looking so great, excited to see the finished product ❤

You should look into a sound wall instead of a word wall - our reading coach introduced it to us last year and it’s a great tool for primary students! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your setup series! 🙂

Yay for K!! Neutral decor would be wonderful for your space. Above the cubbies you could put Secret Story posters or a nice quote 'Life is sweet in Kindergarten' with books and book buddies. Looks great so far. May I ask why you have a coteacher? Will you have a big class?❤

One organization idea that I found pretty clever/helpful for the littles (if there is room)- putting a small plastic pull out bin (with two to three little pull out drawers) at the end of each of the student tables. This helped so much with time management as their white boards, subject notebooks, subject books, laptops, etc... of your choice, can be placed inside for quick and easy access! Just an idea I thought I'd throw out there! Congratulations on the position 🎉
First year teaching Kindergarten for me this school year! I have taught preschool for many years but so excited for Kindergarten- great to see your content!
I also did not expect that there would be a kindergarten teacher with all the qualified fields, applying her knowledge to her students. The classrooms are comfortable so that students feel at home for a long time listening to their teacher teach. I can't say anything but: good job, Madison.

Hi Madison! I’m a kinder teacher and this is my 5th year teaching kindergarten. Before that I taught 2nd grade for 3years. Loved that grade too but I’m liking the kinders better. I love the decor part of classroom set up. I start in late august but already started setting my room up because I changed schools. Thanks for the video! 😊

Just wanted to share an idea block center and dramatic play (you said imaginary play) can’t be together at least here in NYC they need space to move and I would move the space up near the cubbies
Are you doing a writing center area?
How about moving cabinet to that area
And can use side or front of cabinet and put pocket charts for monthly words etc

I have been co-teaching for 6 years now. You both need your own space. Use the reading tables as your personal desks. Trust me, you will want your own space. Plus, you can do 2 small groups at a time.

I have many years of pre-k and kindergarten experience and the biggest advice I got is to keep quiet centers with quiet centers and loud centers with loud, so the library should be near the blocks and kitchen and dramatic play.

Hey Madison! Great set-up video! You and your teammate did a great job with solidifying a flow to your classroom. An idea for the big storage unit - what of you try placing it where your manipulatives are, it may cover a little bit of the windows on the side but not completely because the wall comes up to the ceiling in that area. And if your facing the big storage unit, the manipulatives storage unit can be placed to the left of the tall unit. Also, the tall storage unit can be used as your teaching resources area, maybe your admin will allow you to take off the doors to provide easier access. Just an idea. I can't wait for your next set-up video. 😊
On the wall above the cubbies you could put student artwork or work for others to see.
I need to watch your other videos but I think it would be so great if you could have 2 small group tables and you could make those your “desks”

For the storage cabinet i would put it by your guys' stuff in the teacher area because some kids like to go through the stuff my kids went into my stuff and stole candy from me :|. But i am so happy for you and that you get along with your co-teacher!!

Oh I do ixl for math we do skills and I love it but yeah definitely use it for math but have a good year of k!

Can you remove the doors from the tall cabinet and then use some nice baskets to organize it? It may be better closer to the teacher corner if it fits. Loved seeing you work alongside your co-teacher so much fun and can't wait for your next vlog!

This will be my 5th year teaching. First year with 8th graders. We start setting up August 28th.
I go back Monday July 31st and the kids start on August 7th. I would put the big storage cabinet behind your teacher table. How do you have conferences before you even have the kids?
Do you have anymore storage other than the bookshelves and the cabinet? The room shape is odd, but y'all will make it work! Yes, I would move the cabinet from the large group area. Can't wait for more vlogs!

hi, Madison I'm Brooke and I'm a junior in high school, I want to be an elementary school teacher! I've always wanted to be a teacher since I can remember, the idea of teaching the next generation of kids and showing them how fun learning can be is the reason why I want to teach. growing up I had a couple of teachers who made me hate going to school and I want to change the way kids think about school and how it should be all about having fun and safe environment! I am also from Missouri, I have a 3.7 gpa and got accepted into Lewis and Clark career center into the education program! I was wondering if you have any advice for me, something about the best college for teaching elementary or what activities I should be doing, etc. Thank you!
Wow you have so much time before school starts for meetings! Usually we just have one day paid to meet and set up. This year they took it away and we have one OPTIONAL day to set up lol. I assume everyone will be using that. 😂

Could the storage closet go in the back in that space between the imaginary play and the cubbies? It might block a cubby or two by putting it flat on that wall but if you don’t need all of them it might keep it out of the way! You could even store recess things in there then. You might totally already have found a spot but just a thought :)

In Saudi Arabia, in each kindergarten class there should be 2 full time teachers. These kids need full attention and with the amount of activities students do in class, it is better to have 2 teachers supervise them. In my daughter's class, the teachers are ao sweet and collborative and there roles never contrast. There is a main teacher and assistant teacher. Every day they switch the roles. Even during corona, one would teach online one day and the other teacher teaches the following day and so on. It's so nice. A kindergarten teacher can make wonders and make kids love school for the rest of their lives.

Hey Maddison, I am a new subscriber but I have used IXL before and it is awesome my teachers help me on it if I need it and I really helps me in middle school.
One thing to keep in mind is that anything you want the children to see/use daily that are on the walls, you want it at eye level, so probably not anything that they'll be using regularly on top of the cubby area :) I teach 3-6 year olds
