What a great idea! I like that you are using a featherweight machine, too! I'm going to make this!

Hey I don’t know if you exactly remember but between 1:55 and 2:09 when sewing the back but up did you include the layer that was not included in the previous sewing steps. I would love to make this for my gunnies pig so that extra piece of information would really help. Thankyou 💗

I got confused @1:55 & 2:09 & still am confused by those parts, otherwise, I was able to follow. Maybe when I make one, it will make sense to me! Thank you so much! :)

Hi, It is just connecting the 2 ends of the rectangle to make a tube. I tried to hide the seams inside so it looks a little tricky. I pinned and marked the seam allowance first and then turn the seam the other way to sew. So the seams were hidden between the outer and inner layers. Hope it does not confuse you more.

    Can you use something else

Sure you can switch out materials. Fleece is good for guinea pigs because it absorbs water so stays dry on top. The inner material (batting from making quilt) can be anything sturdy and hold the shape. I think fleece will work too.You just have to try.

What's a batting? Sorry completely clueless

Here is an example of batting from craft store: www.joann.com/sewing/batting/
It is a layer of cotton, wool or polyester fiber often used between 2 layers of woven fabric. Usually used for making a quilt. I believe they have different names in the UK or other countries. I think it is called Wadding? You can also use a bed sheet protector (sometimes they have a thicker one similar to a batting), or just stuff with the polyester filling/ pillow insert. The point is to make it more sturdy and stands up. And still machine washable. I think a thicker fleece or felt will work too. Hope it helps.

Picture Healer do you need to use batting? As it is VERY expensive where I live?
