I read his first book when I was 10 years old and I still remember the scene intently. He was in a cow house delivering the calf, and the snow was settling on his back. I don't think I'll ever forget that. His books have brought me much joy throughout the years.

I love Herriot’s books and reread them every year, so it broke my heart when he died on my birthday.😢

I have to thank the creator of the James heriot books for allowing me to impress my pharmacology teacher for knowing something about the Sulpha drugs in my nursing school back in1990.
Because I had read about this drug in the James Herriot books.
I have read the books over and over and used to watch the series on PBS, I'm happy to see his 100 year birthday is celebrated. 🐾

Your father,Rosie and James, has given me many many hours of joyful reading. And if there is any book in this world that will relax a tormented mind before bedtime, it is your dad's ! As for the TV series, it is simply wonderful. Your father's books and the TV series are the never ending story, for they can be read and watched countless times with out end of enjoyment.

So very true! If you're down in the dumps or feeling sad or depressed, just pick up one of his books...they're truly medicinal!!

Read his book when I was sick at 4th grade elementary school in 1976. It was "It shouldn't happen to a vet" translated to Indonesian. I was captivated, lucky the serials were broadcasted in Indonesia too. Fulfilled my dream by passing Yorkshire and saw the museum sign board in 2000, but very sad didn't had time to stop by. Managed to have the full collection of his books an the serial dvd in 2013. I wish someday i can revisit his yorkshire and the museum.

Nothing like a Herriot book to chase away the blues. I have all of them.

A friend loaned me a few of her favorite books one of them was by James Herriot, I am sadden I didn’t discover him before now and at 63 I could have been reading his books for many years. I’m reading them now or at least as many as I can get my hands on.

I knew a man who took 10 years to graduate from chiropractic college. I'd hate to be one of his patients.
