Truly amazing program, may it run for many years to come. British tv is full of violence ect, but All Creatures Great and Small is about ordinary people's life's back in Britain in the 1930s. With a second world war looming in the program, it brings to mind what is happening in Ukraine at this moment with the terrible war. We are truly blessed to have such a wonderful program like All Creatures Great and Small, so a big thank you to everyone connected with the program.

My favourite character is Mr Siegfried Farnon. Maybe because of Samuel West. :) I saw him earlier as Prince Caspian in The Cronicles of Narnia (1988 or 1989) and as St. John Rivers in Jane Eyre (1995). (Of course in some other films, too.)
I like him as Mr Farnon mostly. This role is perfect for him. I can believe, that he is a vet. :)
I like James Herriot, too. :) Nicholas Ralph looks like my grandpa as young. My grandpa was born in 1912 - four years earlier than the real Herriot. The lived in the same time. :)
But I like Helen and Audrey, too. They are really lovely women. :)
I like the whole series very much, maybe because my parents were vets. They are already pensioners and this series reminds me of my childhood. :)
I read now the books, too and I really enjoy them, altough they were there on the bookshelves of my parents in my whole childhood. I think, earlier I found, these books couldn't give me anything, I lived in this stories. But now, when my parents are pensioners, the stories (the books, the series) are a kind of nostalgia for me. :) A few weeks ago I got a book (Every Living Thing) from a friend so did I discover how great are the stories of Mr Herriot. :)
Anyway, I've got a cousin and her husband, they are also vets (her father was a vet, too and one of the uncles of my father, too). :)
(Sorry about my english, I'm from Hungary and I'm a german teacher, so I use English very rarely.)

I loved this show, a 5.7 rating is soooo wrong! I laughed, cried and related to this show. It gets a 10 from me!

I never watched the old version of ACGAS. But I've watched all of the current version episodes multiple times.
I love the interactions between each of the characters.
I especially love Mrs Hall because she facilitates harmony among everyone but isn't afraid to say what she thinks.
I was happy to see the episode when Mrs Hall and her son Edward met at the train station.
I'll be sorry if Tristan isn't around, but it made sense that he has to leave to find himself.
The outdoor scenery of the Yorkshires and the old buildings in town are wonderful. The indoor sets are great as well. I have some antique furniture from that time in my own home.
When I was a kid my mother took me to the eye doctor who saw patients in his older home, kind of like Skeldale house.

I love the new series I have all the original series on dvd and Will always have a fondness for it , but the new one is so much better Helen is a proper Yorkshire girl with the accent and James is a Scotsmen more authentic by far and Sam West has far more appeal.as a lover of the ladies than the old Siegfried and more believable than Robert Hardy

A note to the American narrator, from Kym in Darwin, Australia - down here, “rooting” is a very offensive word, similar to “f****ing”. So please don’t use it. We would use “barracking for” or “cheering for” instead.

"Rooting for" as a phrasal verb isn't misinterpreted as f****ing, is it? I mean, you certainly wouldn't say "f****ing for", would you?

Its rubbish if you've seen the original series, the vets have no way near the same charisma. I suppose it would be almost watchable if you hadn't seen the original.

Seen both series. Much prefer this newer one. It’s so well done and better cast.

@@carokat1111 The original was so well done this newer version seems completely pointless. The current Siegfried and James are totally lacking in charisma compared to the original, they seem seriously naff without any doubt.

@@Don-lw4cb The original was very well done and I love it. I've been a massive fan of Robert Hardy ever since I saw him in 'Elizabeth R' when I was a child. But I prefer Nicholas Ralph with his lovely Scottish accent as James over Christoopher Timothy and Samuel West is a very skilled actor who plays a more nuanced Siegfried. The weaker link for me is Tristan - I do prefer the original. But overall the new series is enhanced by having a younger Mrs Hall and developing her role in the house, and the outdoor scenes are beautifully filmed. Both series are excellent, but I think it's the authentic Scottish accent and casting of James which wins the new series for me.

@@carokat1111 Each to their own I suppose. I've watched all the original episodes many times over the years but can't be bothered to watch the new episodes, there's none of the fun in it.

If they could have had the original characters and added the modern cinematography it would be amazing......oh and stick to following the books as they were written!
