What a lovely man he was ❤ I totally had a crush on his Siegfried when I was a young girl 😍 the world is poorer for not having Robert Hardy in it any longer.
I loved Mr. Hardy's brilliant portrayal as Siegfried Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small. Love all the books and warm memories of country vets in the Yorkshire Dales. On my list to visit sometime in the coming years. Yes, RIP dear Alf & Robert.
Well said! Even though I am enjoying the new series, I am really sorry that it seems like M has taken down the original series. Which is really rather sad, because we should always honor these excellent actors and both series are good. But anyway... Maybe they are selling the originals as a DVD? I will look for it. Thank you for your most excellent comment. Respect extra much Be well ,cheers.
Although British, it was here in Germany in the 70s that I was introduced to the marvellous TV series. Watched it regularly and Loved it. All these decades later I rediscovered the stories in audio book form during German lockdown. They have lost none of their appeal for me. What a marvellous actor Robert Hardy was. It was a joy to listen to this interview. Thanks!
Anglo German, you should check out Kirsten and Joerg’s YT channel. A German couple who now live in the UK. They are lovely and always scampering about the British countryside. Cheers!
A true Gentleman. Fell in love with this show as a young teen watching on PBS ... all these years later, my children now love the show and we of course own the box set. There will never be another quite like this man ❤️#RobertHardy
Thank you for sharing this lovely interview. As a young girl watching the serie here in Germany I "fall in love" with Siegfried/Robert ❣ Great character, brilliant actor. Please, say Hello to Alf and Linda when you meet in heaven. 💋
Such a wonderful and versatile actor, his portrayal of Siegfried was just as I imagined him when I read the books, the wonderful books written by Alf Wight. I do hope that the new telling of those books lives up to the way the actors in the first telling did them justice
The brilliance of this man playing Seigfried is mind boggling - its the greatest thing ive ever seen on TV or film - i wont watch any of the new ones because , WHY ? , we've seen the best
Favorite Episode of All Creatures? The Tinker's Horse at Christmas. Brilliant, uplifting and human ... which just about defines the whole series too, and Robert Hardy's part in it! R.I.P.
Thank you for your suggestion to view in these times of corona: Do you still remember which episode and series this Christmas with the Tinker-horse was? 🌷 from Holland stay safe
@@bteuben-faber8215 I am just seeing your message now. I did not know what the episode was called, but happily someone has identified it below. I certainly hope you enjoy it!
Siegfried to the last. 💖 He was a superb actor but I always felt (or maybe wanted to believe) he was most like that willfull fellow with the carload of dogs. RIP.
I confess to having wept when I heard of his passing. For me, ACGS was my favorite television program. Ever. And the books still retain their place on the top shelf.
Thank you so much for uploading this interview. I agree with all the answers. And not only in the UK it was a great succes; we used to enjoy it with our whole family when I was younger and still at home. Indeed the truth and kindness in it, attract people to it, I think. Should be an inspiration for modern broadcasting ... 🌷Stay safe & love from Holland.
Of course I don't know the man personally , but Siegfried was always my favorite. and I think he aged very well. Phenomenal actor! Much respect. Was moved to buy the 7 season collection as that show was so wonderful and CLEAN. (If you know what I mean) Must say, my German Shepherd will watch this INTENTLY all through an episode, lol.
Since we were brought up with the original and, so far, have only seen two episodes it's hard to tell. We're all bound to be a little bias to the cast that we loved and, invariably, we will make comparisons. I'm glad that there's more of Mrs Hall. Samuel West isn't quite as joyously, explosively volcanic - yet - as Robert Hardy. The friendship seems to be developing between James and Tristan and we've met Helen Alderson. So far, pretty good going. I was so glad, and had tears in my eyes, with Johnny Pearson's theme at the end of the first episode. Sad, that they didn't reuse the piece at the close of the second.
One of my absolute favourite series of all time. Brilliant cast and acting. It was re-made a couple of years ago which was a mistake in my view. I watched 5 minutes of it and it was disappointing. I had not heard of any of the actors or actresses and their performances were am-dram in comparison to the original cast.
Love the guy, we are watching All Creatures right now so this brings me to this interview. I knew he died a few years ago. Reached a great age. I was in the Lakedistrict in 2013 and we went to North Allerton and god how I hated the Yorkshire Dales. I remember vividly saying to my wife: "We are driving trhough the James Herriot Open Air Museum.....does it never end." We missed trees so much, so it is not for me. But the series is great and I love the setting nevertheless. It seems to me Robert Hardy was very similar to the Siegfried character he played in "James Herriot" as the series was called in my native Netherlands. Every inch a gentleman, easy to love and easy to accept his flaws. A person that will be missed. I wonder: what did he die from. Just old age? He was very sharp still it seems at 91 years of age.
Who could give a thumbs down to the lovely Robert Hardy. His acting career covered many different characters. I was truly saddened when I read of his passing.
@@JB-wu9dc They think because they have a choice, they can do what they want. Sadly lonely pathetic people. Honestly I'm sick of miseries on RUclips. They won't have 1 millionth of the talent he had, jealous!
I also was surprised when I new Helen came on but she actually did a wonderful job. She was played by Lynda Bellingham. It was a adjustment but it seemed she played the part more maturely and not as a newlywed Helen. Which was appropriate as they were further along in the marriage, having two children.
Truely one of the greatest actors ever.
One of Britain's greatest actors.
He was also a gentleman, in every sense.
What a lovely man he was ❤ I totally had a crush on his Siegfried when I was a young girl 😍 the world is poorer for not having Robert Hardy in it any longer.

Yeah. It's insane how much energy he had at 91 years old.

There are few actors I enjoy as much as Robert Hardy. A great man. Very missed but glad he left the shows.
Robert Hardy sir you were a proper actor, gentleman and overall a delight to see on screen! Rest in peace.🙏

Agreed !!, there's only one All Creatures and that's the original with the sublime Robert Hardy
Quite! The same with Sg't Bilko without Phil Silvers, I just stopped watching'!
Robert Hardy was a brilliant actor and human personality👏
British actors are the BEST from the old school👑
Classy man. I loved All Creatures Great and Small as a kid. I recently read the book again during isolation.

He was amazing with so many skills, as an expert on the English longbow, horses, literature, and a wonderful actor with that fabulous voice.
