Correction - Hardy didn't win the BAFTA for Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years. He was nominated for Best Actor but Anthony Andrews won for Brideshead Revisited that year.
It's an easy mistake to make, I notice even the Daily Telegraph website makes it. I think people assume he MUST have won a BAFTA but he was very unlucky the series came out at about the same time as Brideshead. A quick check of the BAFTA website confirms that Hardy was actually the only non-Brideshead actor to be nominated that year, that's how dominant Brideshead was that year! awards.bafta.org/award/1982/television
❤ Robert Hardy he was a True English 🏴 Gentleman 🎩 🇬🇧
