I could drink 15 cans of soda in a day I have since gave it up never experienced withdrawals in fact my body was glad I got rid of it and I lost 80 pounds
Same, man.. 34 and rarely drink coke. I don't like the scum it leaves on my teeth. Feels gross like I can feel instant cavities forming after drinking water for so long. coke feels like syrup in thickness. Plus, I can't look at the can and feel good about ingesting 36g of sugar for literally no benefit. The best advice I could possibly give is to try and transition them to a naturally flavored carbonated water. It's 0 cal, no caffeine, and no sugar. But still has the bubbles and that sound of opening a can of coke. That way, at least it's an improvement. Granted, you can probably mess yourself up over drinking carbonated beverages as well.
She smiles defiantly at her family as she enjoys her bad habit. Most people are upset when they hurt their loved ones. That’s quite a little brat they raised.
Her mother is definitely at fault for letting her drink soda with every single meal. I never drink soda because I don’t like the carbonation. My family never keeps soda in the house. The only time my mother likes to have soda is during Passover because Coca Cola doesn’t use high fructose corn syrup, they use cane sugar to make it kosher for Passover. Even then, I only get one or two bottles for her. It’s also one of the worst things for your teeth because of the combination of sugar and acids. My dentist can tell just by looking at my teeth that I don’t drink soda.
@@kobyschechter8163 - I agree! By the way, what country do you live in? Because I’m pretty sure United States Coca-Cola uses high fructose corn syrup. Exactly. A lot of the guests on this show should go into some kind of treatment for addiction. Addiction to cola or any other food that's terrible for you isn't really much different than drug addiction. They both can kill the person or at least make life harder than it ever needed to be.
I quit full sugar sodas when my blood sugar got dangerously high. Once I felt normal and healthy again, I had a regular Coke and found I completely lost my taste for it. These days I very seldom drink colas and sodas anymore (and if I do it’s usually the sugar free kind and I stop at just one). I can’t imagine drinking that much in a day!
I like my dr pepper but I've found that since I've cut back on it I can only tolerate so much of it in one day. I get the 2 liters and drink mine out of a 8 oz glass and I only have a couple of them throughout the day.
I kind of feel for her when they’re trying to force her to pour out the cola. Not because I wanted her to drink them but because it’s just a big waste. This happens in every episode. They should give it to charity, or food drives, or shelters not just throw it away.
Yeah I agree. Like they’ll just through out perfectly good food. Like donate them ffs. Also I really didn’t like the tone and attitude of the psychologist, he came across aggressive. Some people respond better to a softer approach.
Soda is SO bad for you, I see no problem with throwing it out. But any other food on this channel, it's absolutely a waste and should be donated for sure!
Funny how people think that people should just donate their unwanted food to the poor. The poor will take it. They'll take anything. There are liability issues with emptying the fridge, and donating your garbage.
some people are starving out there not knowing where theyll find their next meal and here they are throwing out perfectly good food provided from god. i never understood it.
They never asked Amy what is lacking in her life that she is replacing with soda. I understand it’s addictive but people get better when they replace it with something positive, not just take it away.
I was like her had a soda addiction when I was young it didn't effect my weight I was very physically active but when I became bed bound due to an illness I gained weight
I used to have a really bad soda addiction. It got so bad that I ignored my health, my teeth basically rotted, and my acne got out of control. Thankfully haven’t drank soda like that in years and got all of my health issues resolved. Big thanks to sparkling water!
I feel you, i never reached that level luckly because I decided to just rely on sparkling water. The thing is, now im addicted to it and I feel dehydrated with natural water lol
The fact that this level of consumption eqals to a whole kilo of sugar a day is truly scary 😮. In addition to a huge amount of caffeine. Apart from all of the psychological aspects of the addiction heath-wise and the mental and physical challenges of stopping the addition. Takes such a serious self disciplin and patience to make it stop completely after such a long period of such a severe addiction. 🙏
I recently got off of soda. I used to drink 3-4 cans of Mtn. Dew a day. What helped me was drinking Propel. It's got no calories, no sugar, etc. It's just flavored water.
It isn’t just water & flavoring. There’s citric & ascorbic acid (it’s tech VitC but it’s terrible for your teeth), preservative & sucralose. Its still pretty bad for you, but it is better than Mtn Dew. Then again, at least you drink that, I drink soda nonstop. Mtn. Dew....I love that stuff omg
You get to even drink cola?? My parents have COMPLETELY BANNED me from drinking it lol. I’m only allowed to drink it 1-3 times a year, only on special occasions !
I've dipped mine in nacho cheese. It's delicious, the mix of sweet and savory... I've also tried Oreos with marinara sauce. It's not bad, but everyone who sees will be grossed out.
No one knows addiction until your experiencing it yourself. Also the mother was enabling her since she was a kid so it’s on her for not saying no to soda or buying soda stocked in her house. The mother had something to do with her coke addiction
And I never have soda or anything carbonated. I don’t like the bubbles. My dentist can actually tell by looking at my teeth that I don’t drink soda. My family doesn’t usually have soda in our house. My mom loves seltzer though.
I grew up drinking mostly soda, Coke was introduced to me at age 4. I had it in my sippy cup! I developed a long year addiction where I literally only drank Coke all day, about 3 a day on average every day.. maybe 6 a day most. I was highly addicted where I went through a 12 pack every 3-4 days when I was still in school, and if my mom came home from work without a fresh 12 pack I would be miserable all night long. Even as bad as my addiction was, I can't imagine drinking 30 plus a day! That's insane, she literally is drinking a full soda every 30 min she's awake! That will end you early for sure if you don't get anything else in that body... poor girl, she is very pretty! I pray she over comes this. I was able to quit soda cold turkey for 10 years, but now I am wanting Cherry Coke daily like I am 15 years old again :/
I understand you I was introduce to Dr Pepper when I was 3 and I had that soda ever since and it had been building up to where I would drink up to more than 5 to maybe even 8 cans a day. I'm 17 now But thank the Lord God, He showed me that this addiction wasnt something I needed to continue with. I am now finding my self eating more fruits and vegetables and being a more open to new foods! Especially strawberries which I hated so much as a, child have become one, of my top favorites!!🍓 I still drink some Dr Pepper nowadays but very little like 1-3 cans a week! It can be done! But sometimes we just gotta ask God for help dw I'll be praying for u ✝️🤗♡
I use to have a Coca Cola addiction too. I would drink 4 liters everyday ! I was 19 and I quit Coca Cola when I was 21 and drank dr.pepper once a week until I quit soda cold turkey. ITS A TRUE ADDICTION!
My gandpa used to bring a can of coke to share with my mom when she was young but stopped after he saw a neighbor make a rusty nail shinny with it. Keep in mind this was in the 70s.
I've been where Amy is it's very difficult to stop. What made me stop was the recurring illnesses caused by Coca Cola. Once I saw first hand the damage it was doing I stopped and drank lots of water. Water is one of the best therapies because it nurtures a feeling of cleanliness from the inside. Now when I drink the stuff I can taste the chemicals and reach for the water. Currently my consumption is drastically reduced to approx 1 can every week or the equivalent of. Amy needs to perhaps seek like minded individuals who have been to where she is.
This really means a lot to me , for some reason it’s something I’m so embarrassed of but I just can’t stop. It’s just everything about it gives me a sense of comfort , the smell, the taste, everything about it. I’ve never met anyone who actually had the same problem but I do feel a little more confident on my ability to lower my intake even more ✨💪🏼
I was in my mid 20s and started to notice, sweating profusely and knee pain after walking for only a short distance. That forced me to stop and THINK! I thought to myself what is going on? I'm only in my mid-20s! Arthritis is for when you hit your 60s! If diet cola can do this much visible damage to me when I'm supposed to be in my prime god help me when I reach my thirties or forties after my body would have been poisoned by decades of diet cola abuse. At that time I wouldn't have the benefit of being able to command my body to restart a healthy lifestyle. This is what made me stop.
I used to drink soda 24/7 and it eventually got to the point where I went into labor from high blood pressure. I hardly drank water. This will catch up to you & when you feel like 💩 then you'll realize you need to do better for you to live a healthy life🤷🏿
Her mother is definitely the enabler. I cringed when Amy said she had her family "wrapped around her little finger." Too telling. Arrogant little girl.
You can't force someone to do what YOU want them to do if they're an addict. These "addiction specialists" should know that. The addict has to want to do it on their own genuinely without pressure from outside sources. No wonder it didn't work.
She wouldn't have been on the show had she not agreed to being "treated". Maybe her family pressured her into contacting the show's producers. Even so, she wasn't forced to participate.
Why on earth would they try and get her to taper down on her consumption so quickly? The second JJ said 16 on the first day I knew that it would be a disaster. Why not only take 2 cans off per day, that seems much more realistic of a goal, especially with someone who’s extremely unmotivated like Amy.
Exactly, it's best to slowly taper off, so you get used to the soda deduction. I'd reduce it by 3 a week. It's much slower but it would be much much easier to commit to. Or atleast every few days reduce by 3.
what i can see here is a girl who deeply connects herself with the american consumerist culture because of how comforting it was comparing to a most likely state of poverty in her home country. she probably feels safe.
Remember kids: Just because she was skinny drinking cola, does not mean she is healthy. She had lack of energy and was pre diabetic. She had a sugar and liquid diet at 20years old. People on 600lbs life are much older and a result of spiraling out of control for almost a decade. So be kind to your body.
Honestly I drink 4/5 cans of soda only on exclusively a friday of every week. But 30 cans and drinking just soda 24/7? Yeah, I feel like I committed murder or something because I am literally hurting my health if I did that.
Years ago i was addicted to Coca Cola and after some scary heart palpitation and going to the hospital i decided on my own to cut off Coca Cola out of my life. I dont regret it at all, i even had headaches almost every day, but i it was worth it. To leave an addiction you need self control and be willing to change your life around. Good luck to her!
I only just recently quit drinking soda but I would drink about 6 litres in a week including cans whenever I ordered Subway. Quiting soda was the best decision of my life.
For those wanting an update she sadly passed away in 2020 from a seizure believed to have been caused by health issues brought on by her over consumption of caffeine. Keep in mind that this episode is from 2010
At age 13, I started to drink a lot of cola and my diet was mostly cheese and potato chips. After a short while, my personality changed: I developed ADHD and became a recluse. I got psychiatric help, but no doctor ever asked me about my eating habits. I’m ashamed to say that I would scream at my mother if there was no cola in the house. I tried to quit drinking cola many times, but the darn stuff made me high and numbed negative feelings, so I would get hooked again after just of couple of days of healthy eating. I’m 56 now. I learned a couple of years ago that a wheat intolerance was the thing that made me crave sweets so much.
An old friend of mine drank so much twisted tea, his teeth rotted completely out. He decided it was better to drink from a straw to avoid the pain, because both sugar and alcohol were far more important.
I didn’t drink cola for years after seeing a presentation about how it had ingredients that weren’t safe for human consumption (eg: antifreeze). I drink other soda but not all the time. I didn’t get much acne, it was probably mostly luck but maybe not drinking cola for years may have helped
My son drank 4 or 5 or more cokes for the last fifteen years he was always heavy but had lost weight and seemed fine he died of a heart attack at 37. It has broken my husband and I.
You know something this reminds me of my older sister's ex boyfriend he too is not only addicted to coca cola but also addicted to drinking beer and alcohol trust me it's bad. And that's not the only thing he's got he has a huge package of it because his addiction runs in his family they have a huge problem with coca cola and he carries a 12 pack of it in his car, some hidden in his office at work, another 12 pack in his fridge and in his bedroom it got to the point where my sister couldn't take it anymore of his addiction so she left him. I even still remember where my sister mentions that at one point in their relationship he said this "if I end up with diabetes or something that is my problem to deal with" but what he didn't understand that time if he does end up with diabetes one day it will not only be his problem but also a problem for my sister because she would have to take care of him, make sure he had his medicine at all times, and make sure what ever foods he will be eating doesn't affect his health any further and for him to say that my sister was the last straw for her so she packed her things and left. Our father is diabetic so she understands the struggle that comes with it and she doesn't want to deal with another person as her partner to have the same condition. If this girl doesn't change her ways in life I don't think she will live long enough past her early thirties.
Yeah remember the meat addiction episode? That guy's girlfriend even threatened to leave him because her own dad died of heart attack and didn't want to deal with another death of a loved one because of heart complications. But luckily their relationships were saved by Dr. Dow and JJ. My dad is a cardiologist and my family runs the bloodline of getting heart diseases, so we are careful not to have too much salt and sugar as well as red meat. So... it's scary, especially someone you love is suffering from the same kind of health risk, then someone else is doing something that will lead to the same fate. Hope you and your sister can stay strong together no matter and support your family, because we all know you two are both resilient. However, I think it is best to put yourself as the priority since you're an amazing person
@@selinaou thanks I appreciate that and as for my sister she's doing great of being single and her ex boyfriend is trying to win her back but I know my sister better than anyone she won't budge even if you try impressing her with flowers or gifts she won't budge besides she loves the life of being single and me too

I drink a can of coke between 1 or 2 a day, but also on some occasions.

Latin American countries typically use cane sugar. I gave up soft drinks and sweetened beverages a few years ago as well. Now I have naturally flavored seltzers or unsweetened tea and I don’t miss the overly sweet flavors at all!
@@finster1968 I’m American. American Coca Cola does indeed use high fructose corn syrup. Mexican Coca Cola always uses cane sugar. Coca Cola makes the soda around Passover time (late March, April) with cane sugar because Ashkenazi Jews do not eat corn on Passover.
