Connoisseur is the older spelling, connaisseur is newer. So both are correct! The spelling of the word connaître has changed over the centuries, and so has this word which is derived from it.

Unfortunately, artwork is like a fingerprint. A person with a keen eye and skill would either say it's the same person or a clever forgery.
