Where are you from? I thought I was the only one living in countries where everything is super expensive, for example here (Costa Rica) a GTX 1080Ti founders edition cost $1000... Every time someone is doing a build I go crazy with the prices and how different they are.
I just built my new PC this week and I have a H440 case. When I removed the plastic cover from the side window, the motion charged the acrylic with tons of static charge. Mine was not installed on the case, but you were brave doing that with the panel installed.
Hey TechJamer, I am building a Ryzen system because I have begun to learn how to "properly" edit (check my channel for a few laughs at my feeble attempts XD) and obviously I want the best rig for the best render times and such. What kind of gains will I see by using 16gb over 8 gb, and is it worth the $100~ price delta? I'm choosing 3000mhz speeds because of the way Ryzen's infinity fabric works with faster ram speeds. My board will be an x370 which according to the manufacturer, supports 3200mhz ram speeds natively, therefore allowing me to overclock the 3000mhz ram by just a tad.
Jimmie Ervin If you have the money, I would say yes. Videos will render faster with 16gb and you will get slightly better performance in game. If you plan on using this Pc for the next 5 - 6 years then 16gb will make it more "future proof" if you understand what in saying. Speed isn't too much of a worry. Go for 2666mhz if it's noticeably cheaper than 3000mhz. And also, if you can only afford 8gb now then get 2x4gb now and buy a 2nd pack when you can afford them later and make sure you get the exact same ones.
Alright, thanks for the advice. That was an option I was considering. I think I will bite the bullet and get the 16gb. However, I've seen everywhere that faster ram does offer improvements that can justify the price. (Not in games, I know this. But for work stuff) 2666 will cut it?
Jimmie Ervin From what I know, there is very little difference beyond 2100mhz. But if the price between 2666 and 3000 isn't too much for you then go for the 3000.
ILIMTEDU1 yep thats about where I'm at too .. could be due to DDR4 3000 ram prices which are going up in price. If you can forego some FPS, getting DDR4 2400 sticks instead can get the price closer to $1K. And there are other components which can drop the price further of course. Different mobo and RX580 come to mind.
Not always, states like AK or MN don't have sales tax and other states have higher taxes than others. For example for where I used to live the sales tax was 7%, but where I live now the tax rate is 8.05% and the nearby cities are higher or lower depending on the amount of public services available and size of the city.
no way. I'm getting well over 1000 on Newegg. you can't get the gpu for less than 550. the ram he's using is actually 200 bucks. that's 750. 200 floor ryzen 950. 100 Mobo 1050. cooler 1100 and still haven't added ssd hdd or case
I've built with that same Mobo in a Corsair C70 and Corsair 200R. I just put electrical tape over the standoffs on the back edge of the motherboard so that are isolated and give support to that back edge.
He chose it, because in real-world usage of average gamer + low productivity work users it does not matter whether you go with SATA SSDs or NVME SSDs. The difference in all builds I encountered is that low-cost m.2 SSDs that actually look semi-good do not exist. All low-cost m.2 SSDs are green -.-
If you look at prices for Samsung m.2 vs SATA SSDs- I see no real price difference. I wouldn't call a Samsung 960 m.2 a green drive- it's also red and black. It has read speeds 3,200MB/s and the SATA counterpart is limited on the SATA bus at 550MB/s. There was an open slot for m.2 but he chose to use SATA, was it just that he had it laying around? Seriously, I'm just not sure why anyone would chose to use it when the prices are essentially the same.
FuccoTheClown Everyone with a windowed case choose SATA ssd just because it looks much better. Otherwise you are almost always left with green ugly nvme ssd on your mobo.
The Samsung 960 m.2 series is not ugly or green- it's black and red which matches the aesthetics of this build/case perfectly. It would give you 5x the performance. I don't see your argument.
Excellent build. Loving how inexpensive it is now to get so much power out of your PC. Making it really easy for insignificant guys like myself to get the hardware we need to start catching up in terms of productivity!
Bracket for any CPU cooler is free from Cooler Master but the shipping was almost $12 to Arkansas, USA. Having a hard time finding something that works out of the box.
*CAUTION TO ALL ATTEMPTING TO BUILD THIS PC* I don't know how you failed to mention that the cooler (Cooler Master - MasterAir Pro 4 66.7 CFM CPU Cooler) is NOT COMPATIBLE OUT OF THE BOX with the motherboard (Asus - PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard) in the build. You have to order extra parts from the Cooler Master store to make the thing fit on the MOBO. Here's a link to prove it: www.coolermaster.com/amd-am4-ryzen-compatability/en/ The extra parts are free, but I need to pay $7.00 for shipping. Not very expensive, but still a major annoyance. I don't know how you managed to put the thing together without encountering this problem Paul. I hope no one else runs into this problem without forewarning. Leave a like so people can see this
The 1070 may be more powerful, but the R7 1800X is also a more powerful CPU. If you're using a mid-range CPU, might as well match it with a mid-range GPU, that's also a cheaper option.
I really like the build. I went with an msi b350 gaming pro and an msi 1050 ti video card. I spent a little under 800. I'm not a super serious gamer, and it was my first build. Nice video.

Nicholas Selvik See this is why AMD came out with the 5xx series of cards. An RX 580 is the better option. And cost the same if not less than the 4xx series of cards because for some reason, they've gone up in price
Take 580 of course. Expandability with CrossFire, FreeSync, probably way better optimisation between ryzen and radeon. And 580 should be the same or better in almost all games (except rise of tomb raider - this is nvidia optimised game).
550-650 is the rule of thumb I go by for most modern graphics cards. The gtx1070 is extremely power efficient for the performance you get, go with a 550. Dont go with a bullshit power supply though like the one shown in this vid. What is your price range for psu? I would only trust a few models, corsairs RM 550, EVGA supernova 550 (only the g2 or g3, not the G1) Seasonic G series 550, and if on a tight budget EVGA 550 B3 (not b1). wait for mail and rebates.
I checked out almost the exact build. I'm using a msi b350 tomohawk and it went to 1300 usd. The prices for the graphics cards are still crazy. I even used a cheaper ram card
I just got that motherboard last week. All I need the Ryzen 1600, memory then the GPU and I'm good to go. I got the 550 Watt PSU, plan on getting the 1060 6GB. Buying the video card last, hopefully I can still use my current 550Ti in my Ryzen built with no issues.
Thanks to you're video i build up my 1st PC whit mostly exact same things .Now it my Son's PC thanks to AMD i can updated the CPU to Ryzen 5 5800X3D whit 3080 Ti . It brings back the nostalgia of that time.
This is the exact same setup I'm planing to get in June but i might swap for 1600 with the cooler since I'm just going to play 1080p don't need a heavy oc
I just did a similar build but with a 1080 and a 1700, I put the ram in slots 2 and 4 as the manual recommended and the ram would not work above 2133, I put it in the slots he used and it instantly worked on dcop 2933
Hope they improved the directions for the cooler. My friend's hyper 212 evo confused the crap out of me. I was relieved to find out I wasn't the only one when another friend complained about the same thing.
I really want to get some ryzen hardware and build a new computer, but I'm not willing to deal with windows10. It'll be nice to see more people moving towards linux to get around it so I don't have to build a rig that's almost never online.
im using this build as a template so what i did was i changed the case and went to a hard drive and i also changed the case and i got it down to 950 so im happy about it and im gonna build it when i get the money
Great build for first time pc gamers! I order my cooler without the AM4 bracket by accident. Had to order from Eastern Europe...took weeks :( Bought an Amd cooler to hold me till then. Upsetting but there are always pros an cons of PC building for beginners.
Where did you get your AM4 bracket from or do you have the part number? Doing almost this exact build for my first PC, ordering the parts Thursday, would rather not have to wait weeks for a bracket!
So I have a budget at around 1k and was considering building this. I have never actually built a PC before but I know the steps to installing everything. After seeing the motherboard issue I'm kinda worried. Since the video was sped up, I couldn't really see what Paul did to fix the problem.

Dat Boi but 4 cores isnt exactly the new thing, 6 cores or more will be more optimised very soon IMO.

Put a 650W PSU in there...
With the current trends of GPUs getting more and more energy efficient, you better rent a power plant before it's too late.
SaekoDashie a 750w would run u for days
What is preferd amount for this pc but with ryzen 1600 cooler? Please help
Pretty much the same build I plan, only I am using a GTX 970 a H75 AIO CPU Cooler and MSI Tomahawk Mobo
Sweet build!
Do a mini itx AM4 build once the boards come out. Mitx is my favorite.
Thanks to you're video i build up my 1st PC whit mostly exact same things .Now it my Son's PC thanks to AMD i can updated the CPU to Ryzen 5 5800X3D whit 3080 Ti . It brings back the nostalgia of that time.
I'm quite tempted to copy this build. The only thing that makes me second guess it is what looks to be a lack of USB ports on the front of that case.
love the look of the system. the simplicity and the usage of colors. This is a system I would build. Wonder what kind of numbers it puts out?
I just bought the parts for this pc but I upgraded to R7 1700. Can’t wait to build it!
This video is perfect timing! Not sure about the mobo though, it doesn't have very good reviews from what I'm seeing so far.
This is the exact same setup I'm planing to get in June but i might swap for 1600 with the cooler since I'm just going to play 1080p don't need a heavy oc
Looking back at these older build videos is just depressing, considering how much this would cost today.
Eli Mogenson that’s what I was thinking this build is way over $1,000.
ooh a good side panel case. *perfect*
This is what i call sweet spot and still high end very very good!
Going with this exact build myself. Except a 1600 and a phanteks P400.
Nice video. at 2:27 secs you said the shortcomings of the X-370 chipset but meant to say B-350 instead.
Given how popular this PC build was, it would be cool to do a series on upgrading elements to bring the PC up to a better spec with new parts.
yes i built the same one like 5 years ago still using it but its time to upgrade components!
Paul please make a Ryzen build oriented around a white case
I just did a similar build but with a 1080 and a 1700, I put the ram in slots 2 and 4 as the manual recommended and the ram would not work above 2133, I put it in the slots he used and it instantly worked on dcop 2933
Move exhaust to the front is bad in this line. Its a tested known for the series. Leave it and might do an additional high front low RPM
I would build something like this. Nice Job Paul! :D
Hope they improved the directions for the cooler. My friend's hyper 212 evo confused the crap out of me. I was relieved to find out I wasn't the only one when another friend complained about the same thing.
DEWD. All the exact components i kinda chose for my future PC upgrade, im just bouncing between RX580 Gaming X and a 1070 gaming X.
Would like to see a similar build between $1000 and $1500 with Intel i7 7700K and water cooler like NZXT and the IN WIN 303 with Type C front inputs.
Love the build, this really helped me out, now I know what I'm going to buy and build 👍👍
Amazing Ryzen build good video man.
I love how far 1000 gets you in the PC building world vs 2015 when I built mine. My 390 turns into a 1070 and my 4690k into a Ryzen 1700. Oh joy
My 4690k just turned into a Ryzen 1600
goddamm eu prices
I'm doing the exact same build but with a 1600 and the stock cooler and a gtx 1060. But damn that is a sexy graphics card
Great build for first time pc gamers! I order my cooler without the AM4 bracket by accident. Had to order from Eastern Europe...took weeks
:( Bought an Amd cooler to hold me till then. Upsetting but there are always pros an cons of PC building for beginners.
Where did you get your AM4 bracket from or do you have the part number?
Doing almost this exact build for my first PC, ordering the parts Thursday, would rather not have to wait weeks for a bracket!
Shane Bradley Just be sure your cooler is AM4 compatible when you order it.
Awesome build, I hope the copyright silliness goes through smoothly and quickly.
So I have a budget at around 1k and was considering building this. I have never actually built a PC before but I know the steps to installing everything. After seeing the motherboard issue I'm kinda worried. Since the video was sped up, I couldn't really see what Paul did to fix the problem.
THE V-ROLL IS GORGEOUS MY GOD.
I'm fairly eager to see the performance of this build. This is the CPU+GPU combination I plan to get. I wonder what the 1440p performance will be...
