#ThisToThat This week I am tackling the impossible, by turning this into that featuring me turing a store bough ice cream into a elegant modern trendy birthday cake. I added flour to the grocery store ice cream and baked it in my oven! This DIY wedding or birthday cake was so easy to make. Let's do this!

The reason you get different textures is because of the type of icecream you use, different brands have different ratios of mixture to air. Air is whipped into icecream to prevent the entire container freezing solid. So in reality, it was like you were using different amounts of liquid, even though it still looked like a cup each

I absolutely hate that the finished cake is blurred out until the last few seconds.

Using all that ice cream seems like a rather expensive way of making a cake to me.
Still less expensive than ordering a cake from a bakery though :)
Well when you add up all the ingredients that you have to buy to make a cake from scratch it’s much cheaper
@@ultrajasper7236 It definitely isn’t cheaper. You’re looking at $5 per tub of ice cream. Basic cake ingredients are pretty cheap and it’s not like this cake is only made with ice cream.

I beat the crowds for once. Laurie, you are absolutely awesome and the biggest idol to me. I started watching your videos in August and they just helped me out a lot. I had baked and never really though of it as a hobby. I didn't really have a hobby... You kind of saved me from absolute boredom. I had a surgery on my lungs in Oct, so I was forced to be quarantined and I still am. I started just watching all of your videos. I LOVED THEM. So as soon as I get belled on a new video I immediately watch it. You are absolutely amazing to me in everything you do. I hope you see this just to realize how much you actually mean to me, as a saving grace. Keep on going with your dreams! Your great!
What I love about your videos is, that you don't pretend to be perfect and everything to be perfect, but still you make some of the most amazing cakes I've ever seen. Thank you, you really inspire me😊
For your hair I think if you did the same like you did with the purple except like blue or aqua/turquoise it would look so good ✨

It was her first time trying this. She follows instructions when trying new things. So I'm guess the instructions says let your ice cream thaw overnight. At the end of the video did anyone else see a blurred out cake?
@@christystafford1890 I think the blurred out cake was so that she could do the outro without revealing how it looked, and then she made a little montage at the end to reveal what it looked like

Ya not all, I can NOT handle eggs in anything and breyers and eddy’s don’t have eggs, and those are my favorite brands
Right?!! I was like saying to myself..um ice cream does have eggs/egg yolks in it! Lol! I realize that some don't..but most of the full fat ice creams do!

I am Dairy and Gluten free (not by choice) so yeah, I agree, it amazing that there are so many opportunities for us to be able to have deserts and fun food now
Lol, I’m gluten free too cause my mom has celiac disease and we assume that I do too. My brother is dairy free too and recently just went vegan.
@Boss Yes. I have Casine allergy, which is worse than dairy, it’s even the protein that’s inside dairy. And I also have latent celiac disease. Celiac disease is basically gluten allergy but to the maximum. It’s literally a disease and it makes your body attack itself and it’s really my mom, grandma, and Aunt both have it, and my blood work was spiked when I got tested but because we start so early there was no damage. I’m only 13 BTW haha

For hair: if you do a darker blue, it'll fade to a lighter blue and then a tealy green so if you're ok with all of those colors, you can go a longer time between coloring

Haagen Daz chocolate ice cream ingredients: cream, skim milk, cane sugar, cocoa , egg yolks.. so yes there are eggs and milk in the chocolate ice cream.. that's why it looked the most delicious! Also for the 'sail' you have to drape the parchment with the chocolate, over a container of some kind, like a small coffee can, and then clip it to give it a wave like effect as it dries. So fun and creative! It still worked without the container! Very cool! 🙌🏽🧡💓💛

The purple was so pretty, maybe try a color conditioner like Overtone. It works well and doesn't damage your hair.

A few years ago I saw a video on how to make bread out of vanilla ice cream, recreated the recipe and then made it every chance i had for months. I never thought you could make cake out of ice cream, but seeing this really makes me want to try!

I think people probably don't do this on a regular basis because premium ice cream is $$$ than cake mix, or even doing a cake by scratch. Turned out super cute and I love your videos and sunny personality!
