As a comic book artist and fan; this show just drew and continues to resonate to me even now as an adult! Because it successfully commented on the history of comics and how it's a valid medium of art and storytelling!!

Comic book art never gets old. No matter how young or old we are, we can still enjoy great comic books of whatever style we love. Even comic book artists, animators & cartoonists would love this series "BOB", because I sure do. This comic book superhero series of "MAD DOG" in its' mild family version would make a wonderful animated series for Nickelodeon. Let's tell Paramount & Nickelodeon to make this "MAD DOG" cartoon series a reality with some celebrity voices. It'll be quite a fun show for families to enjoy everywhere!

😮goodness. I do not even recall this show. I didn’t know there was yet another Bob show after Newhart. Sorry I missed this and sorry it didn’t last long.

I think what turned off those who loved Newhart's previous two sitcoms with his third was probably to do with his occupation as a comic book artist. Now, if he was a cartoonist writing his work for the daily papers (like Garfield, Calvin and Hobbes, etc.), Bob could've just been as good as the BN Show and Newhart. Comic book fandom was starting to gain back favor and love in the public realm at the start of the 90s, but not yet to the point where they'd enjoy a sitcom they could relate to in terms of geek culture (like the Big Bang Theory). Bob was simply created at the wrong time, if it premiered around 1995 or so, it would've enjoyed a better, longer run from attracting younger audiences getting into comic books and keeping a few old-timers who loved Newhart regardless.

This was a fun show. Kind of a pity CBS retooled it in the second season and took out all of the geeky humor.
