I didn't either and I read this comic a lot in the 1980s. Every weekend, I fought my parents to get the newspaper for the Beetle Bailey comics on the back. They were always hilarious and kept me entertained for over 10 years. RIP Mort Walker, one of the nation's best cartoonists.
WHY didn't they release an updated version in the 1980s??? I lived through the 80s but Beetle Bailey was my favorite comic. I had three massive books from the series. There will never be a comic or cartoon as good as this again.
Same here! I had lots of Beetle Bailey books growing up in the 80s! And I used to watch reruns of this cartoon every Saturday morning! I even drew my own comic version of Beetle Bailey for a while! 😊
I can't play videos because I have AD BLOCKERS here in the Radio Station well YOU TUBE can go stick it when they order me to turn them off -- EAT MY SHIRT MICROSOFT
I'm watching this animated presentation of Beetle Bailey. It does not quite live up to the comic script that we are used to. As with books converting to movies, it is up to the individual viewer to determine in the people, voices, and situations are the same; if they are not the same, they could be better or worse depending on perception. I found the voices annoying and reaching. The situations are reaching or trying to card to be campy. The solutions just wrap up each episode so that they can hurry to the next one. Painfully unfunny entry from King Features Syndicate. The same kind of very funny and striking observations from the Mort Walker strip we see everyday, at this writing from the newspaper, is greatly lacking in this blistering, shrieking and boring cartoon. Unlike many of these Comic Strip/Comic Book adaptations, King Features/Famous Studios & Company meticulously strove to maintain the original concept and flavor of the strip. This show was syndicated in 1963, during the early 60's, as part of The King Features Trilogy, along with other King Features properties Snuffy Smith & Barney Google and Krazy Kat, under the collective title, Beetle Bailey and His Friends. In Chicago, Illinois, it was slotted at 10:30 or 11:00 AM, Sunday mornings. It was shown over the local, NBC Affiliate; which was and is WMAQ (formerly WNBQ), Channel 5. It was an odd time period for animation, we would most likely agree; it languished in a time and day normally reserved for Religiousprogramming and other "Public Service" oriented shows. Theme song: He's the military hero of the nation, though he doesn't always follow regulations. At the sound of Reveille, He is here for you to see, And we know you'll laugh at Private Beetle Bailey! Beetle Bailey! Beetle Bailey! ...

Many cartoons of the era were based on comic book and news paper strips. He is passe now . Most kids would not know who he is
