It is such a joy to see you with your grandmother. I made a lot of my mother in laws clothes (she was about 96 and passed away 18 yrs ago) and that was always such a joyful and rewarding experience.
We have a special bond; she’s the one responsible for my fabric obsession. She used to take me fabric shopping with her when I was little and let me touch all the fabric as she went down the aisles 😂
Well done Toni. I agree with GM that it is very pretty. And I applaud Clemmie for her contribution to this particular video and for her overall support of you and the channel.
You are not going to believe this but I am making a fleece jacket also with the exact same pattern here in the UK. Im also doing the large size. I also decided to make it in to a jacket with a long zip. Im up to putting the collar in and I am finding that I dont really understand it. So Im putting the collar on in my way. Ive been sewing it on and off for weeks. Ive got some great fleece with pictures of dogs on it. Love the pattern of fleece you chose - suits your grandmother very well. My grandmother died a few days after I was born. Never knew my grandparents at all. You are so fortunate to have her.❤❤ Ty so much for the tutorial its helping me a lot ❤❤❤
I’m so glad that my video helped you. I found their method for sewing the collar ENTIRELY too complicated. There are much easier ways to achieve the same end goal. My grandma will be 99 in March and I cherish every day with her. I’m sad to hear about your grandma ❤️
I love grandma’s reaction! So adorable. So, do you occasionally catch a glimpse of your dress form and think, damn, is that me?? Yes, dammit, it is 😂😂😂
I hate sit ups; I have PTSD from the Presidential Fitness test 😂 I told my trainer that she had to come up with other exercises to find my abs. So far so good, but it's slooooow going.
I once made a sleeper for my great nephew in a thick stretchy fleece. The fabric was so thick and unstable, I chose to hand backstitch the zipper in. Whew! What a job! My fingers were freaking sore.
Your Grandma is adorable! I'm a new subbie and came across your video when searching How to sew a fleece jacket. I'm an intermediate sewist. I yhink project would be perfect. I love that you explained your changes!
Thanks so much for watching and subbing!! Grandma is so much fun. This pattern is a good intermediate one. Have fun! Let me know if you have any questions ☺️
I have been quilting for about two years. I used to be a clothing sewer all the time in my 20s and teens and 30s. But I haven’t done it for a while and I’m kind of getting back into it just for now.
Loved everything about this video. The fabric is gorgeous, your Grandma is gorgeous. Makes me miss my Mum, she would have been almost the same age but I lost her five years ago. This was so endearing. Thank you 💜
Nice work and such a pretty result. I think I like the shorter zipper better. That way there aren't teeth scraping my neck when it doesn't need to be closed all the way. It's easy enough to toss on a scarf when there's a breeze to chill the neck. And, yes, fleece is adored by my feline also. And she loves to jump on my sewing machine table too. Haven't stitched any toes or noses into my work yet but do get annoyed at times with feline curiosity interrupting my work flow. I do my best to do tricky work when she's napping.
You are so kind! I will pass your comment on to Grandma. Who knew at 98 she’d be on RUclips?!? She’s the best and we will make more videos together this year.
How cool that you & your grandma love sewing! My mom tried to interest her granddaughters in sewing, but I’m not sure any of them were terribly interested. My sister was a much better seamstress than I in our early teen/young adult years. I don’t think she sews much now, but I’ve embraced it during my retirement as a new hobby. I’m more of a machine embroidery/quilting/household utility sewing person than a garment one, but I do take the occasional (rare) plunge.😂 One thing I’ve seen and tried doing is to use quilter’s basting tape that’s double sided and washes away to help with zipper placement before sewing.
My grandma was overjoyed when I started sewing in college. My mom and aunt were both traumatized in home ec and never took it up as a hobby. I’ve always just loved to idea of making something completely original that no one else has. I’m glad my grandma likes to be in my videos ❤️
I love the style of jacket, with the exception of the zipper if it goes all the way to the top of the collar. So your modification is perfect for me. I don’t like the teeth of the zipper rubbing on my neck and this illuminates that problem. Thanks for sharing!❤
This Bernina is my first and my favorite sewing machine. It’s a Dual Sewing Center by Arrow Cabinet. The white is model 401. I got it in 2007. Back then you told them the make an model of your machine and they cut the leaf to fit. I don’t think they make this model anymore but they might have something similar.
My fabric was a medium weight fleece. The weight of the fleece would slightly change the appearance of the design- a thicker fabric would create a stiffer look, while a thinner fleece would be softer. If your fleece is a heavy weight fleece, just make your stitch length a little longer.
Fleece jackets are for everyone! I remember back in the day when Old Navy was “new” and there was a fleece for the whole family ad campaign- even the dog had a fleece jacket 🤣
Absolutely sweet !❤
Loving our grand parents are precious!😂😢😅
Thank you! Grandma and I always have a good time together❤️
Your grandma is so sweet! Good job on the jacket! She looked adorable! My mother just turned 93 and she still sews. She lives alone and still drives!
Thanks so much!! Grandma still drives too! We renewed her drivers license in March and it won’t expire until her 100th birthday.
I LOVE! your grandmother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please tell her she looked beautiful.
Aww thank you. I will let her know ❤️
It is such a joy to see you with your grandmother. I made a lot of my mother in laws clothes (she was about 96 and passed away 18 yrs ago) and that was always such a joyful and rewarding experience.

Aah how sweat of you to make that for your Granma blessings to you and Grandma, happy sewing.
Aww thank you. Grandma loves her fleece jacket.
I love your grandma’s reaction. It melted my heart ❤️
She was surprised! I was glad the way it turned out since I could really only do one take.
Me too!! What a blessing you are to your grandmother!!
Mine too!
Anyone who loves their grandmother enough to sew a beautiful fleece jacket for her is very special indeed.
Loved your video.
We have a special bond; she’s the one responsible for my fabric obsession. She used to take me fabric shopping with her when I was little and let me touch all the fabric as she went down the aisles 😂
How sweet! The endresult is fantastic and the fit is just right.
I was very happy with the way it turned out too!
This warmed my heart😭😭😭I miss my grandmas!!!
❤️❤️❤️
So cute! Love your Grandma...enjoy every second with her, time is precious❤
She’s the best! ❤️
That is so good, she still sew and you get a chance to sew with her. The fleece jacket is nice and grandma LOVES IT!!!😊❤😊!
Yes we always have a good time together! Our next video will be bound buttonholes.
What a pretty fabric choice. Your grandma is going to look so cute wearing her new fleece!
I can’t wait for it to get a little colder so she can wear it out to dinner.
Omgosh, 4 minutes in and I've already learned so much! Can't wait to try this pattern. You and Grandma are awesome!
Yay!! I’m happy to hear that you’re inspired to sew❤️
Awww.....Grandma....you look GORGEOUS in your new jacket!
She looks great, doesn’t she! I’ll pass on your compliment to her.
Well done Toni. I agree with GM that it is very pretty. And I applaud Clemmie for her contribution to this particular video and for her overall support of you and the channel.
I thought you’d enjoy this video and Clemmie’s antics 😂

Your grandmother is so sweet ❤ and that is a beautiful fleece! Congratulations on the time.
Aww thank you. I almost beat the clock!!
Beautiful jacket for a beautiful young lady. Grandma, you look fabulous 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I will pass on your comment to Grandma ❤️
You two are adorable together 😊 I love the fit on her new autumn jacket.
Thank you! We loving hanging out together. I thought the fit worked well ☺️
So sweet of you to make that lovely jacket for your gran, and it looks perfect on her! She’s adorable!
Thank you. I love her so very much.
I love grandma’s reaction! So adorable. So, do you occasionally catch a glimpse of your dress form and think, damn, is that me?? Yes, dammit, it is 😂😂😂
My dress form is actually a little smaller than I am right now 🙄 but I’m working out so soon I’ll be able to remove some of her padding 🤣
@@SewSewLounge I keep thinking, dang girl, would it kill you to do a couple of sit ups?? It’s clearly not happening 😜 For her or me!
I hate sit ups; I have PTSD from the Presidential Fitness test 😂 I told my trainer that she had to come up with other exercises to find my abs. So far so good, but it's slooooow going.

Some fleece is really difficult. Glad that you got it finished!! I’m sure your great nephew was warm and snuggly ❤️
This is so sweet and warmed my heart! She has such pure joy at seeing what you made just for her. Loved the tutorial as well!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! She loves her fleece jackets-I’ve made her three!
She's adorable! You did a fantastic job in 2 hours!
Aww thank you. Grandma loves her fleece jacket
Oh i cant waitvto make one. Thank you for the inspiration !
You’re welcome! My version is much easier than the original pattern. Let me know if you have any questions or need additional explanation ☺️
How adorable for grandma!!!
I’m pretty sure she hasn’t taken it off since I gave it to her 😂
That is a very pretty print in the fleece jacket for Grandma.
She’s loves it! I’ve made her two more since this video.
Your grandmother reminded me so much of ny mother.😊
Aww that’s so nice ❤️ I’ll tell Grandma you said that.

YES! I’m all about sewing clothes. Quilts are nice but nothing beats being able to wear something you made out in public. It’s the best feeling ever❤️
That was So sweet! I loved watching this from the beginning and especially to the end! Good job😊
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Grandma loves her new fleece jacket.
The jacket looks great on your grandma.
Aww thank you. I’ll let her know you think so 😉
I just love your sewing show. I have been sewing since I was about ten. You have the same notions that I have. Ann
Ann, you are so lucky that you started learning at 10. I totally missed out. I appreciate your comment! 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you for doing a tutorial.
It looks beautiful on her. ❤
Nice fabric choice.
You’re welcome 😊 thanks for watching!

Oh you’re welcome. I’m sorry to hear about your mum, I’m sure that’s been hard for you. I’m very happy that you enjoyed my video ❤️
from the mrs: great video! After watching your tutorial, I feel inspired and may try to make a fleece jacket. Enjoyed the grandma cameo!!
I’m so happy the hear that!! Yay for sewing 🧵

Love this! That fabric is so pretty! Love your Better than Ezra tee!❤

I don’t particularly like a zipper rubbing my neck either. This was a happy accident indeed ☺️
She looks great! And that’s a really nice jacket. I love the fabric.
I think so too! Plus she’s so happy to have a new fleece jacket ❤️
Grandma is awesome!!!

Yaaaaay for Grandma!
Grandma loves her fleece jacket. She’s says she’s going to wear it for special occasions and I keeps telling her that it’s for everyday use.
I have really been enjoying your videos
Thank you for letting me know Tina! I appreciate you watching ❤️
Both lovely 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Love your videos! How did you get your thread store in your house? Can you order those organizers?
I bought it when my local Joann’s close to move into a new location. It was a bargain I couldn’t resist!
I have the same exact model Bernina that you’re using!
What is the make/model sewing cabinet that you’ve paired your machine with in this video?
This Bernina is my first and my favorite sewing machine. It’s a Dual Sewing Center by Arrow Cabinet. The white is model 401. I got it in 2007. Back then you told them the make an model of your machine and they cut the leaf to fit. I don’t think they make this model anymore but they might have something similar.
Can you tell me what weight fabric you used. I found some which is 250 gsm. Would that be to thick.
My fabric was a medium weight fleece. The weight of the fleece would slightly change the appearance of the design- a thicker fabric would create a stiffer look, while a thinner fleece would be softer. If your fleece is a heavy weight fleece, just make your stitch length a little longer.
♥️♥️♥️
You just might have put a lot of young people off fleece jackets. LOL!
