I know this is a pretty old video, but I still wanted to comment :). I love your channel, your tutorials are so easy to follow and I love how you point out that nothing is really a mistake. This video in particular inspired me. I recently made a journal using this technique and filled it with personal ephemera that I inherited from my Grandmother who sadly took her life before I was born. I gave this to my mother (her daughter) and she cried pretty hard while looking at it, but she loved it and said my grandmother would also have loved how I used her old papers and notes. Thank you for touching my family's hearts by sharing your art and how to make it my own.
Same. It’s a TIMELESS video for me. Just beautiful craft!!!
If noone has explained to you yet, that when you zigzag off the edge of the paper to give your journal an edging, it called "overcasting". An overcast stitch.
I know this is an old video, but having just found your channel I'm beginning to realize I can do this. I have a friend who wanted a paper placemat written on and she was just going to tuck it away some place and eventually it will be ruined. But with the different techniques I have seen in the last few days, I'm going to be able to preserve that placemat for her to treasure for the rest of her life. She is 88. Noone knows how long we will be here, but to preserve this placemat from Mother's Day 2024, will make a special gift for her. So thank you for sharing your talent.
Yoooo I'm new to this too! Thanks for your explanation, that was awesome of you!
Thanks for that info!
Please don’t think you have to hurry unless it has to do with recording time! I love listening to you while I craft along!!! Thank you for all the ideas!
It's really super nice of you to go from start to finish showing us every step of the way. You don't miss a stitch or a mark along the way, plus all the double checks and tips to help us. Thank you so much for all this, plus showing the added embellishments that complete the journal. You are so kind.
I just discovered your channel today from your tutorial on how to make fancy pens, then you taught me how to make the most BEAUTIFUL paper beads that I am just dying to try. I have calendars my mother collected since the 90s as well as SO many National Geographic magazines that my father collected for many many years. I havent been able to throw them away due to sentimental reasons so I have been keeping them stored away for crafts to try one day. You have inspired me to try so many new things this year and I cannot wait. Thank you for taking the time to make these amazing videos. Your channel is a gold mine!!!
@sarahkutube-your comment led me ( my 1st time watching this amazing woman ) to wstch more of her videos as my mother passed a few months ago at Thanksgiving and I too hv quite a few calenders of hers she saved . Thank you fr your idea ❤🎉
@@PSA3377 I cannot tell you how heart warming your comment was. My condolences are with you and your loved ones. I am so terribly sorry for your loss and I hope that you have been continuing to evolve and explore. I think it would be a really cool idea to make the beads to where we could still see our mothers hand writing throughout the beads! Not sure how easy that would be but might be fun to try! I am sending you love and light and hope you have a peaceful day!
I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to get junk mail in my mailbox. Fantastic project! Thank you for sharing!
Haha I love it. Thanks for watching!
Now I’m saving EVERYTHING. I have to stop myself. I’m addicted!
I thought about that yesterday too! I wondered what kind of card stock I could use for my Junk Journaling projects 👍
Isn’t she fabulous?! I’ve saved so much from going into the trash after watching her videos. And made so many fun and beautiful projects. 🥰
THIS TUTORIAL JUST GAVE MY PAPER SHREDDER A SMALL BREAK!
As a tip for the inner layers of serviettes / napkins: I folded them accordion-style (like tissues are folded within a box) and put them into a lidded box with a hole cut in the top, like an oversized tissue box. I keep them on my craft table and use them for cleaning, or for paint brushes, etc.
This is the video that started me on this "junk" journal journey almost 2 years ago. Thank you, Natasha!
I'm so glad!!!
How is this sort of “journal” to be used? It does not appear to be a conventional notes-journal, or a daily diary/agenda.
@@u.synligit’s just for fun !
You are the equivalent of the awesome cardmaking gurus Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner. Lyrical voices, perfectionists, generous, humble, accessible teaching style, and makers of jaw-dropping, engineered, fascinating, beautiful works of art!
Absolutely LOVE how you write down how to step by step how to do notes!! Thank You!!
I'm not sure how I ended up here, but I watched the whole thing and though I'm not much of a stamper/paper crafter, I am loving your artistry. What care and thought you put into these journals-they're beautiful!
Thank you so much Khara :)
I actually watched an hour and 17 minutes and didn’t ever get annoyed... like I do with most tutorials! I loved every bit of this! You are a great teacher. Thank you, this was marvelous!
Thank you so much Caroline for your kind words :)
Me too...very enjoyable.
Oh, I didn't even realize it was over an hour long lol

You are so welcome! Thank YOU!!

Love your “mistakes” that is probably the most helpful to learn and see how you repair it because that might be where I would get frustrated and stop the project. I absolutely love these creations of yours. Thank you for your endless inspiration!
I have seen this video in october 2023 and have had so much fun the next month to glue tissiue paper on junkmail envelopes. Thanks for the inspiration for "you can crafting with things you have on Hand".
I loved the whole process. Beautifully done. I now need to stop throwing envelopes in the recycling bin a start creating...
I started watching your channel a few months ago and I love the way you write down the step-by-step instructions for us, that's awsome!
Your work is lovely.
TOTALLY AGREE with you...unless the scraps are a predetermined size....throw them away....makes cleanup and organization so much simpler.
TFS. 🙂
2023 and your videos are still relevant. Love the tutorials ❤
Thank you!!!!
This is the first journal I’ve ever made, you Truly made everything so easy to understand and it was such a wonderful process I actually made another one I am going to make many more for friends and family thank you so so much❤
Your tutorials are just mesmerizing! And I love how you think out loud and make us all part of your creative process. Love it, love it, LOVE IT!!! I am officially hooked!
Thank you so much!
I’m definitely making these! I want to make a special one for my daughter to write her beautiful poetry in. Thx for really breaking down the steps and showing us how to create! ❤
I cant stand most tutorials. I ffw through them and eventually get annoyed and quit watching but i have watched your entire video without any ffw or annoyance. I love that you don't do any of the stupid dramatic theatrics and i love that you don't go on and on about your personal life like some people do. I have limited data and i am here to learn and i love that you spent the whole tutorial actually teaching.
Thank you so much :)
@@TreasureBooks you’re very welcome. Thank you for showing me how to do these. I am working on valentines gifts for a friend who is very meaningful to my heart. We aren’t more than friends at this time but I am hoping with time that will change. I am making him an epoxy tumbler and a matching journal.
Thank you for making this video and explaining every step and process to us. Blessings to you and your family. 💜💜💜
You are an incredibly good teacher! You're so GENEROUS and always considering us, the learners! You're truly gifted in the art of teaching and art... Thanks so very much.
They look so beautiful. I receive one of those envelopes for retun mail and almost threw it in the trash yesterday. Here I am at 5 AM, and find this video. 100% will try it.
You are the most creative person l saw lately. Its easy to buy stickers and empfemera bit THIS is total creative mess which can come from a head of an artist, creator.
This is treasure!
Thank you SO much Ivana :)
I love this. ☺️. You have really mastered the “trash to treasure” idea! Your teaching style is very accessible and welcoming, and I love the finished results!
Thank you so very much 😊
I was just thinking of an idea with window. Say you have envelopes with window that you cant use. Save the window and adhere to back side. Before completely sealed, add confetti, glitter,. etc and have a shaker window. What do you think? Make it special by adding something that connects you to a person.
Oh wow, I love it!!!
I love that, especially the part about making special by adding something connecting you to that person, brilliant!
I did this twice. It's like having a toy💖
I think: how cute is that? GRRReat idea !!!
Malisa Davis that's good idea adding your own personal touch to the junk journal
Dear Natasha
Thank u. I hv so many things to make. These days I am very sick so I can only watch your videos and save them to make later.tc stay safe and blessed always
You taught me something so valuable! The paper napkins I had thought boring due to lack of pattern, are perfect for transparent use!
I love your channel, Thank You for sharing your gift!
Beautiful! The stitch around the edge is called binding or overcast. Can’t wait to make mine. Have collected several envelopes and will make each one dedicated to places I’ve traveled with the location noted in the window. Thank you for these detailed instructions!
Thanks for watching!!!!
That's such a great idea!
Thank you for giving me permission to toss the backing of my napkins! Love you so much!
Number 1 favorite instructor!
Thank you so much :)
Oh thank you soo much for this, once I started I sat glued to your every beautifully explained words and actions, one of the best tutorials I have ever watched!
As a minimalist, I applaud you for getting rid of excess. :) I will most likely not create any junk journals but I do keep a Bullet Journal and am picking up ideas for decorating some of the pages.
Everything you touch gets awesome. Your art fascinates me! 💜
You are very good as an instructor. I also watched without wanting to fast forward. I’ve accumulated quite a bit of stuff over the years with journaling in mind, but never put it all together. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching :)
I love how you turn trash into treasure so much its making me want to keep all my trash. My problem is when I decide to start a project I go all out collecting & buying things I need/want. 10yrs ago I started making cards, within a year my lounge was half full with card stock, toppers, glue, equipment etc. Gave that up so got rid of everything. During lockdown I started doing 5d diamond art pictures. I did dozens of those only to give them away to my carers, I've still got a box full of them to do. At the moment I'm doing lots of needle work so I've got a large work table with a sewing machine on it. I've also got 2 large tote boxes with fabric in now. So you can understand that I don't have the time or space for anymore projects. 😂😂😂😂
I’m a quilter and appreciate your attention to details. Your tutorials are wonderful. I’m so tempted to make this Journel
Thank you so much!
This is amazing! I love that you keep your notes out and providing the time stamp for everything is so helpful! Thank you for the sweet tutorial! LOVE IT!
Thank you so much Janet!
I agree, it makes it so easy to follow or go straight to a part you may want to see again. Very well thought out and she is so organized.
My thoughts precisely. Thanks for the notes and time stamp and for... everything. Very grateful for. your work!!
Watching video on Journal books, I was inspired. ( I have re-used envelopes & spare paper for notes). Now, I will make the journal book idea using junk envelopes & misc paper. Thank you for the inspiration to CREATE…
YOU are my hero! Lol! I can't believe all of the neat things that you come up with. I am collecting things now to make a junk journal for myself and my daughter. I can't wait!! Thank you for always sharing your ideas!!
thanks for this. i am passionate about recycling but have struggled with the window envelopes. most intructional, thanks xxx

Amazing Tutorial! I love your clear, concise directions and excellent editing! Thank you for taking the time for always taking into consideration that some of us (like me!) need such detailed instructions. I also really appreciate that you show how to correct glitches that may occur in the process.
You are my Artistic Guardian Angel. With love and gratitude from Arizona, USA.
What a beautiful project--easy, but stunningly beautiful. I can't wait to see your next video.
Thank you so much Brenda!
It's called a French hem. Thank you for explaining it beautifully.
Seriously though.. Where have you been all my journaling life?? I'm simply in Awe, so lovely~
Thank you so much Jen!
Fabulous! Every time I see how you've written out your process, it gives me happy shivers... From one organization addict to another!
Oh thank you!! I am a total organization addict. You see me! You get me! Thank you for watching :)
I agree about organization, did you see how all her embelishments are so well sorted and kept in binders, I'm feeling so inspired and a little envious, LOL.
Beautiful. I can't believe what can come from a simple envelope
Thank you so much!
These are great. I have a good stash of envelopes with different types of windows, some having two, some with very large windows, and they will work very well to make little journals for my friends who are just learning about how to use a junk journal. Your videos are the best, and I very much appreciate the written steps that I can capture and print for reference. It is very helpful to have a good idea of the order of the steps to be done.
I'm going to make some of these to go in my Traveller''s Notebook. BTW, you can compost the white layer from the napkins so it doesn't go to waste. Also, you can iron the napkin before you split it to get rid of the fold lines.
Hi..just wanted to say I love your 'name'. Dances with Dust Bunnies. So cute. 🥰

What a lovely idea for a ordinary window envelope. Thank you for sharing. I plan on making some.

Oh my God! I did it!!! I did it!!!!.... From start to finish and it's beautiful! .. well not as beautiful as yours but beautiful ☺️
I like that you have an outline that you follow.
"Oh that's not brown, is it??" Oh my goodness, so glad to see I'm not the only one who finds herself in such places! :) Wonderful video, thank you!

Thanks so much for this tutorial. You have a real patience and took the real time to show and explain every step of this beautiful and original junk journal. This is very cute, like the treasure books. I simply loved It. I will try to make one, but I don't know if it will be so nice as yours. I loved the tuto where you show how to make different papers. Thanks!!!!!
My mom used to say, "The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get. " Not good grammar, but a good memory. I love your envelope journal and appreciate the written steps and timed places on the video to help find the part I want.
I love that! So true! Thank you

Wow wow wow. Thank you for sharing this fabulous art/ craft.
This is so beautiful. Love your final step..... "Admire"!!
What a fun way to use your envelopes that you have been saving for that one special project. I think I just found my favorite project.
I like the size of the journal. Also I like how you presented the lesson. You took one step at a time and this was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you :)
Your thoughtful thoroughness is so appreciated. Pull both threads to the same side, knot, then trim. Of course, that's what I do and it drives me crazy when others are just left to hang out and around. This is so much neater and way I was taught MANY years ago when I was young. Thank you. I am a new subscriber. Saw some pages you must have made yourself from torn pieces.....beautiful. Hope there is a video showing how you do that. Most impressive.
Thank you so much!!

I actually made this based on your instructions. I love it. Did you see that you have 1M views, amazing accomplishment!
I have just discovered this channel while looking for inspiration for my 2020 planner, and I immediately realized that I need many, many more of this type of practical, slow paced, detailed, precise and clearly understandable tutorial videos, where I can actually follow the instructions with my own inspiration and add some "papery" beauty to my life. So glad I found you, I feel that there will be some binging on your videos, with a cup of hot tea this evening...
Hehe Aranyani, thank you SO much!!! I also came across this craft years ago, by accident, while looking at planners. I have been gripped by this obsession ever since, and never looked back!
