My favorite bit from this film is how Jones tells the wife the story about how the guy killing the cow wounded his arm, and how he couldn't lift it above his head anymore, and how even against something as defenseless as a hung cow, there's still an element of chance. After Chigurh kills the wife, arguably the most defenseless person in the movie, he gets in a car wreck, breaking his arm and rendering him unable to lift it any higher than his ribs. Brilliant.
Woah!!! I've never picked up on that before, amazing connection! Thank you for increasing my love for this film even more!
@@BrandonLikesMovies Dude, thank YOU. My parents were pissed that I didn't like this movie more when I first watched it today, and immediately after we were done, I watched your thing on it, cause I recently found your channel. Your commentary gave the film an easy 20 more points in my eyes. Keep killin it brother.
it means he see humans as cows ... pure evil
I really love how calm you are while doing your reviews. Usually when people review films on RUclips they scream their heads off or don’t say a single word. It’s amazing to have found someone doing reviews that is actually enjoyable to watch.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
It really feels like I’m watching with a friend 😭
His voice is so soothing. Brandon's the Bob Ross of reaction vids! I also never get the feeling he's seen a movie before but pretending he hasn't for views.
This is undoubtedly one of the best and most faithful adaptations I’ve ever seen, because it’s practically a word-for-word adaptation of the novel, but it somehow feels like a wholly unique Coen flick!
Poor Woody, everyone gangsta until Chigurh smiles at you.
To be honest, I've never seen this movie besides the "Call it." scene. I didn't realize there'd be so many actors I recognize.
Highly recommend it!
lol dude stop reading this shit comment of mine and go watch the movie
@@feYslYa Like I didn't do that 3 months ago.
@@weirdguy1495 sry mate must have missed your blogpost
@@feYslYa I don't have a blog.
Easily my favorite movie of the last 20 years. Add to that, as a music major, i never noticed the lack of a soundtrack until the mariachi scene, when I realized it was the first real music of the movie. That's how much it had me enthralled by the dialog, acting, and directing.
this movies is COLD! that man Anton was a monster 😭
Anton is not to be messed with that's for sure
Brandon Likes Movies he was found by a study to be the most realistic psychopath in all of cinema, and that is terrifying
I find that movie reactions where the reactor has already seen the movies are just...generally less fun. However, you made this SO interesting, almost like you were watching it for the first time. That's how it's done my man, love it.
This is absolutely my favorite film. That last scene about the dream is perfection.
I enjoy your commentaries just as much as your reactions, they are refreshing and you do a great job analyzing the little things in these movies. I can tell youre really passionate about this stuff keep up the great job
That means the world to hear!! So glad that you enjoy them 😁
O Brother Where Art Thou is my first Coen Brothers movie but No Country For Old Men is my favorite film by them.
CR055F1RE Care for some gopher?
@@117rebel no thanks, 1/3 of a gopher would just serve to stimulate my appetite and leave me more hungry than if I hadn't had any.
This is one of my favorite movies! Glad to see someone FINALLY reacting to it! Great work Brandon. Biggest fan
Thank you!! The movie definitely deserves more attention!
"What is the most you ever lost on a coin toss"~ Anton Chigurh
This was a pleasant surprise!! Can't wait! Keep up the great work and know how much we love what you're doing. Your goodness shines through.
Ben you're so kind!! Thank you! Appreciate your continued support!
I just can’t stop watching your videos, fantastic work, keep them coming
Great film! mate, im loving your reactions/commentaries. keep it up!
Thanks so much Elliot! That means a lot!
Man... I can't wait for the day you react/commentary to the Big Lebowski. I will say that is my favorite Coen Bro's movie, but this is a close one. They far different type of films, both equally amazing.
Yeah... well... that’s your opinion, man.
I love how for the longest time I thought that it was ambiguous at the end if the wife is still alive or not but that small little detail of sugar checking his boots after he walks out pretty much confirms that she is dead
Great commentary. I never even realized there's no score cuz i was always so engaged watching it. damn
I love this movie as well! Definetely in my top 15 movies of all time! Its like a modern day western thriller! SOOOOOOOO suspensful! Great video Brandon i might become a patreon
Thanks so much!!
It is awesome to watch you reacting to all these classic films keep it up man you are killing it!!
Thank you so much!
*Your channel continues to grow at a rapid pace, you are reacting to some absolutely genius movies. I loved watching this reaction man, keep it up*
I'm so glad you mentioned the wrapper. Without it, the whole movie's structure would've just fallen apart.
This is such a masterful film from beginning to end
Agreed!
I'm glad you brought the pulp fiction thing up in this commentary.
Love your videos man!!!!
Thank you 😁
Your reactions and analyses are my favorite. Unlike other film reactors, you appreciate the art of film, and they're not just entertainment to you.
A movie similar to this is Hell or High Water and if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend that you watch it
Really want to check that one out!
Just stumbled across your channel and love the movies you react to. Also I enjoy your anaylasis and input on the film. You got yourself a new subscriber! Cheers man
It was kind fun seeing Jesse Pinkman's Mom in this at the end.
I knew I recognised her! I thought she might have been a Hot Fuzz character for a bit but now I realize thats her
So refreshing to see a channel that focuses primarily on films that are fantastic that u haven't seen yet and not just bad films.
So many good shots and all the environment is great. And that coin scene is just perfect, legendary! This movie is so good 🔥
I'm realizing my taste in movies is very similar to yours. Was awesome to see your great appreciation for this!! A true masterpiece in cinema...
The coin flip with the gas station guy is great.
Amazing scene!
This film took the Oscar that year, deservedly. And it was up against some awesome flicks like There Will Be Blood and Eastern Promises.
Your channel is like all of my favorite movies with great commentary.
I'm so glad to hear that 😁
I’ll never forget the first time I saw this film. I had to watch it a 2nd time right after. Just incredible.
Your insight beyond simply reacting is super enjoyable. I would personally love to see you react to Primer or Moon. Cheers!
As always ur videos didnt disappoint😊love ur reaction n commentary im looking forward to any movies u will be reacting, keep it up!👍
Thank you!! That means a lot 😁
DAMN you reacted to almost all the movies i like! From tarentino movies, Logan, Marvel movies, No country for old men, even breaking bad! Love this channel sm!!
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos 😁
@@BrandonLikesMovies yeah very much! RUclips reactors rarely react to movies/series i like so this channel is perfect for me, also your reactions are really good! Keep it up ;)
Man, you’ve been choosing absolute bangers to react to. This channel is only going to get bigger and bigger. It helps that you’re an insightful and thoughtful person. I love that you don’t scream “DAMN THAT’S CRAZY” every 10 seconds. There’s enough of those sorts of reactions for 10 lifetimes. Nice to see a person think and care about what they’re watching. Thanks for the content!
Yeah man I agree you prop made his day 👍
Good to know there’s not all sick mean hate on the comments 💯
Thank you so much for the kind words!! That means a lot!
I said this exact same comment a few days ago when I found him when he was reacting to whiplash. Glad I'm not the only one :)
"DAMN THATS CRAZY, every ten seconds" lmao but it's sooo true. When I found Brandon's channel I thought finally someone who shuts up during a movie and actually has thoughtful insights about what he's watching.
Really loving see my favourites movies through your eyes. Keep going Brandon, your my favourite reactor :)
Thank you so much Diego!
Very soothing voice and the analyses the little details is refreshing ❤
You gotta see The Big Lebowski if you haven’t ! Directed by the Coen brothers.
This is a great channel, thanks for the vid.
Fun fact: Kelly McDonald (Carla Jean) is a Scottish actress. She hits that West Texas accent like she’s FROM there. Total boss. It’s an amazing thing to listen to.
This is literally my favorite movie. I used to watch it twice a week omg.
Fantastic commentary Brandon.
My third favorite Coen bros movie.
Number one is Millers Crossing, second one is Big Lebowski.
Need to see those ones!
I am glad you finally admit to re-watching a movie on this channel lol how can you be such a film buff and not have watched all these awesome movies ...
The coin toss scene is also one of my all time favorites. Reminds me a bit of the dinner scene in american history X, which you should also react to btw
Only positive vibes, such a great review, i got this one in my collection aswell. Love the content ! Greatings from the Netherlands!
Hello! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video 😁
one of my all time favorites.. but really you could do a Coen bros marathon.. top picks for me would be
blood simple
raising arizona
barton fink
fargo
big lebowski
o brother eher art thou
Even though it’s very fun seeing you react to classics that you haven’t seen yet, I love watching you geek out over films you love! It’s got to be one of my favorites as well
I'm so glad to hear you say that! Definitely love talking about this one 😁
MAN , YOUR CHANNEL IS AMAZING ,YOU ARE REACTING TO REALLY GOOD MOVIES , KEEP THE GOO WORK.
Thanks so much David 😁
Love that you react to classics, if you havent seen Good Will Hunting or Magnolia you should react to them, would be lovely to see your reaction.
Great reviews so far, man. New to the channel and planning to stay. Cheers from Spain.
I'm glad that you enjoyed the film. I know I did and I can't believe that Bardem got away at the end. Makes me wish the ending was like HEAT, where Jones Guns Down Bardem, and Bardem says he rather die than go back to prison or face punishment by the Cartel.
Chigurh's Shotgun silencer is one of the most badass movie weapons.
You ARE the best reviewer on theTube. Very well done sir.
Awesome job as usual. Keep it up!
Thank you so much!
Your analysis of this movie was SPOT ON!!!
Thanks so much! I love talking about this one 😁
This movie was so good, every time I watch it I love it more. In this film, just because you're the hero, it doesn't mean you will win. But it also told us that just because you're the villain, it doesn't mean you're immune to the world.
Another great film from early in the Cohen Brothers career is Millers Crossing. Excellent writing, lush, beautifully done cinematography and gorgeous sets. Gabriel Byrne and Albert Finney are the lead charterers. Also great sound track. Have it on DVD and seen it at least 10 times, never gets old.
Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley said that this movie was a BIG inspiration behind The Last of Us. They had their minds blown when they walked out of the theatres and wondered how they can recreate that tension and tone in a video game.
When I watched it for the very first time after playing TLoU multiple times, I truly understood what they meant.
Thanks for this, I didn’t know that.
If you haven't seen it I recommend watching the movie Hell or High Water. Starring Chris Pine and Jeff Bridges. The best way I can describe it is a western set in the modern day. I'm not exactly sure why this movie reminded me of Hell or High Water, because the only two western things in this movie are Tommy Lee Jones's character and Josh Brolin's character. They just happened to find themselves not in western, but in a horror or thriller movie.
Really want to see that one
You make some really good observations. This is also my favorite Cohen Brother's film so I appreciate seeing new details. You also have to give credit to the author of the book, Cormac McCarthy.
A well deserved Academy award 👍👍
Javier Bardem is just phenomenal ❤️ ❤️
Hey I just wanna say.. I love the commentary that you do. You give quality insight and you have such a chill vibe. I'm so happy that every time I see you pop up on my feed, it also shows growth for your channel. Keep up the work.
This is such a nice comment!! Thank you so much!!
Wow I thought I had noticed every small thing in this movie, but I had never caught the fact that they show a bloody quarter in Chigurh's hand when he has the motel shootout, thus giving a new meaning to the earlier scene in the gas station. This movie is incredible, and your commentary is amazing!
Thank you! Glad that you discovered something new 😁
So wait... does that mean he kills the guy at the gas station after all? That changes things quite a bit in that he doesn’t follow his own strict rule. Especially since he supposedly left it with the attendant as his “lucky quarter.” Or is it another quarter from an earlier flip? The damn bloody quarter raises more questions than answers!
@@bradforddillman7671 I believe that this bloody quarter is meant to show the audience what the stakes were in the earlier scene. In the gas station scene, while we can all infer that Chigurh was going to kill the attendant if he guessed wrong, we don't actually know what could have happened if he guessed wrong. As Brandon pointed out, we didn't 100% know the stakes. Showing a bloody quarter in a future scene shows the audience that the stakes were, in fact, life or death for the attendant. It also shows that Chigurh does this coin flip ritual more times than we see in the movie.
Alexander Day Alexander Day I think the idea that there are other coin flips we don’t see makes sense. Chighur seems to be a slave to his own rule so I can’t believe he’d kill the gas station guy.
Such an amazing movie it's definitely in my top 10 fav movies
This will be great to watch, thank you for this, friendo 😉❤️
Friendo is such a scary word after watching the movie 😂
Man 15k subs already! That was quick lol. Great channel!
Thank you!! I'm so happy that people are enjoying the videos
Happy to see that you like that film as much as i do !
I’ve always enjoyed this movie, but I don’t have it for some reason. Your passion for such a great movie has made me want to see it again and just went ahead with ordering it for delivery 😂😂
That's awesome!! Definitely very rewatchable in my opinion 😁
I love this movie. Great commentary!
Thank you!!
Watched this film on Saturday. Great commentary
Thank you! It's such an amazing movie
This channel is amazing!
Llewelyn's wife was played by Kelly MacDonald. An incredibly good Scottish actress, the biggest (relatively recent) thing I've seen her in was "Boardwalk Empire".
Dude. You are killing it.
Thanks Michael 😁
Big Lebowski and O Brother Where Art Thou are my favourites by the Coen's. This one was so tonally different for them it really was amazing.
Love your review!!
I remember first time I've tried to watch it I was a teenager and I had to stop on the scene with tossing the coin in the shop, it was so intense to me, that dialog. I went back to it after I turned 25, cause I knew it's worth it. And I'm glad I did it that way, when I was younger it was just a scary movie, later I could actually see some meaning in it, I could pay attention to the characters and their perspective on things. While still being scared like hell and intimidated by Chigurh of course, absolutely the scariest guy ever, Bardem did an amazing job.
Lets go, one of my favorite movies. Was introduced to the book and the movie during my college English course.
ZachMaciel I absolutely love Cormac McCarthy. All the Pretty Horses is my favorite book of all time.
There's so many layers to it, it's so good
The book? 👀 for a booklover I am slow, it seems! I need to read that!!
Elisabeth Larsen It’s a fantastic book! The Coen Brothers were really faithful to the book, as I recall. I haven’t read No Country in awhile, but I remember thinking that they were going right along with the book when I originally watched it.
Susan Maggiora You’re correct. The film is especially faithful because Cormac McCarthy originally intended to write the story as a film script and what became the novel still feels (reads) like one.
"Even the rapper gives a good performance in that schene", A Great line, And a Great film. Why do I Like "Tigerland"so much 👍
I didn't notice there wasn't any soundtrack omfg!! Lol they do so good in getting you involved that you forget about the soundtrack!! Such a good movie!!
Another overlooked Coen Brothers gem is Miller’s Crossing. A fantastic film, with a great cast.
LOVE this film so much. The Coen brothers are brilliant.
i've been wanting to watch this. i'll come back to this vid once i watch it!
Lucky you. I wish I could watch it again for the first time.
Let me know what you think of it!
@@BrandonLikesMovies just finished watching it and i was blown away! the script, the acting, the use of suspense without any score, just amazing... plus, ur commentary/intake on the film is highly appreciated!
@@slobonmyfilmsnob so happy to hear you loved it as well!! And I'm glad you enjoyed the commentary! Thanks for letting me know your thoughts on it 😁
@@BrandonLikesMovies ofc man!
I was only 9 or 10 when I first seen this movie and it scared the shit out of me but a couple more watches I fell in love with it honestly another masterpiece from the Coen brothers
Your video is a reminder to me to check out the Coen Brothers' films... The only film I watched from them is Inside Llewyn Davis, which I like, haven't touch the rest yet.
One of my all-time favorite movies!
My friend was taking a writing class and they showed the coin toss scene in one of his classes and he immediately showed it to me. I kind of wished I had gotten to wait to see it in context with the movie, but it definitely got me to watch this.
Perfect scene!
This is a wonderful commentary, I enjoy everything you have to say about this movie. No need for you to have to explain your love for the scene @7:56 GO OFF BRANDON. Excited to join on the next AISIP episode brother.
You should check out The Big Lebowski and Miller's Crossing.
Hey big fan every movie you’ve seen I literally just saw and what I haven’t seen I’m watching it lmao 😂
Haha awesome!! Glad to have you along for the ride 😁
You’ve been putting it up your whole life
Great line!
I used to think Brandon deserved his own radio show. Now I believe he deserves an entire radio station.
Haha you're too kind!
I saw this in 07 in theaters...I'm convinced its the best movie of the 21st century
