  • Toyota Highlander is bigger with more standard features and a standard V6 engine.

I bought this car. This car is very fuel efficient. It is actually better than 2003 Rav 4 we sold.

Today I just got the 2014 Toyota Highlander XLE model (sunroof and leather).
Awesome! This accelerates soo fast (3.5 L engine) and smoothly because it has 6
speeds that 80mph feels like 55mph.
    PROS:
    - Voice activated commands for dialing a phone, playing a song, etc.
    - Double wishbone rear suspension means better handling and 3 inch wider interior in
3rd row. We hardly felt speed bumps.
    - Shelf for cellphone, Bluetooth, hands-free
    - BIG 8inch GPS TOUCHSCREEN and backup camera and apps like Accuweather, etc.
    - side mirrors have turn light blinkers
    - more space behind the 3rd row
    - Sexy styling (looks a little like Jeep Cherokee and BMW X5) with chrome accents on
the roofline. Integrated rear spoiler. The door's body tapers in toward the glass
window as opposed to the usual boring glass and body flushed against each other.
    - 11 airbags (includes driver's knee)
    - traction control, stability control, ABS
    - sliding 2nd row seat makes it easy to get to the 3rd row
    - 3 ac outlets and a 110V outlet
    - BIG 245/60/18 tires
    - Auto dimming rearview mirror
    - Easy Driver Speak to amplify driver's voice to the rear passengers
    - 3 zones a/c system and controllable by 2nd row passengers
    - Fog lights
    - Daytime running lights
    - Rear glass on the tailgate opens
    - 1 push window down for BOTH driver and passenger
    - Power tailgate and height adjustable for shorter people or garage doors.
    - Push button start
    - sunshades in the 2nd row
    - garage homelink
    - heated side mirrors
    - heated seats (I live where it's hot so I don't really care about this)
    - windshield wiper deicer (I live where it's hot so I don't really care about this)
    - 19mpg City, 25mpg Highway
    - 24 months free Toyota maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations.
    - Toyota has the highest resale value
    - Toyota reliability
    CONS:
    - Tailights are not LED.
    - White LED light in front is only in higher models like LIMITED.
    - Big turning radius so parking is difficult.
    CONCLUSION: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I had a chance to look at the new Highlander at the 2014 North American Auto show and was somewhat disappointed. Somewhat cheap plastic interior in the Limited model. Possibly the driving dynamics would quell any uncertainty about the design. It was still a nice vehicle but I don't think it will be competitive against the Durango, Acadia (GM kin), Explorer, etc. Definitely no crowds around this Toyota. Once again, great review!

Where are your reviews of the 2013/2014 Nissan Pathfinder and Honda Pilot. Like to see those.

I'm glad I bought my 2013 highlander just before they ran out. I prefer the constant 50/50 power to all 4 wheels even tho it isn't as efficent but offers more cabability imo then a AWD system with a lock for under 40km/h, I also like the center seat. as it doesn't limit me with buying a certain model to get a bench or captain chairs. Really wished they kept that in the new one.

Entune is NOT available in Canada..!!!
    Here is their response:
We would like to inform you that Entune is not available for Canadian specification Toyota vehicles. Currently, there are immediate no plans to offer Entune in Canada; however, our system in Canada is called Toyota Display Audio. For additional information concerning Toyota Display Audio and using your cellphone with the system, we would suggest discussing the matter further with the Service Department at your Toyota dealership. Please note that Toyota Canada and Toyota USA are separate entities.
However, we have noted your interest in Entune and have forwarded your comments to our Product Planning department for their information and future consideration.
We thank you again for taking the time to write.
    Sincerely,

At 3:45 he says the 4 cylinder is gone , that is wrong they still have the 4 cylinder in the base LE model - front wheel drive only

The 4-cylinder isn't available in Canada and this appears to be a Canadian review.

Why do all reviews on cross-overs are done by single men? I want to hear a mother of 4 talk about it.
Seriously, we tried four cross-overs this week and the Highlander was the most pleasant to drive. Everything seems to be adjusted right.
