Alex Toth is among the Great Masters

DC just released a Black Canary trade with those two stories along with other artists' throughout the decades. I agree a big Toth-centric book would be ideal : pieces from House of Mystery, Brave and Bold, Eclipso and so on.
He drew a lot of Black Canary sketches for fans and himself; when he was indulging himself, he gave her really bountiful, almost Crumbian thighs.

Cannot get enough of Toth's Black Canary art! Composition, flow, light source. All the essentials drawn to the max. Always something to learn from Toth. "Strip it all down to essentials, and draw the hell out of rhe rest!" - Alex Toth

My first exposure to Alex Toth was an issue of Red Circle #8 in a story "The Man Who Tried To Kill Death". I picked this up in 1974. I highly recommend this issue it also contained an awesome Gray Marrow story inspired by the Green Hornet.

In ‘82, Adventure Comics switched to digest sized and, at 14, I got to see these reprinted in the first two (#491-492). Decades later, when I finally acquired the original issues, seeing them full sized was a revelation! It was almost like never having actually seen them before! Would love to see them large size!

I remember those stories when they first came out. My sister was collecting them, and we both loved Black Canary. I remember that splash like it was yesterday. I was like 12 years old, and my sister was eleven. Brings me way back. What issues was Alex’s run on the Black Canary story “The Canary and the Cat” in Adventure Comics? An article about it says that it was a two-issue series, but Wikipedia doesn’t list it correctly. Has issue #491 jumbled to #419. I’d love to get them. They’re a great study in brevity, and it’s written by my old teacher from SVA, Denny O’Neil.

I love Alex Toth. I have a ton of xeroxes from his pre-production animation character design work. I always wanted to help out a documentary on Bionic Six specifically with all this art, but I don't know anyone who likes it as much as I do, and thinks there's a behind-the-scenes story to tell.

You guys are great. I wish I could find a shop where I could get whatever comics I'm looking for instead of having to resort to buying online and having to pay a fortune for shipping and handling.

....my first exposure to Alex Toth's printed work is a old Sargent Rock from the '70s, can't remember the issue number, or year, but the art work was MASTERFUL, it kept you engaged, as all sequential art should. PEACE family of the pen.

Amazing! I love Toth's art and watching you guys pick out the techniques in inking, composition etc is a great boost to my own crappy pen scratchings. Talking of cheesecake, would you ever do a review of the original Danger Girl? Peak J Scott Campbell and a lot better than most people give it credit for.
